My nephew's school did a last minute filed trip to this museum and we greated by a very nice soft spoken young women named Ava. She kindly took us to four big art works in different exhibits that were recently brought to the museum. Overall, very nice, informative, relaxing experience.

Great little museum. Friendly staff, and a pretty good selection of art eras, mediums, and styles. There is also a free audio tour, with local college students reporting dissertations on some of the pieces.

The Allen Museum is a gem. Admission is free and their Japanese print collection is world class. Living in Washington DC we have access to so many top-notch museums and galleries but nothing as intimate and welcoming as the Allen. Definitely worth visiting.

Took the granddaughters. They liked it because we saw art from before Christ and from around the 300. The youngest really liked it maybe we'll go again if shecomes to my house alone. It's a nice place to spend some time.

The Allen art museum is designed to look like an Italian palazzo. The older portion of the building certainly shows this, with a central courtyard with embellished ceiling and upper-story arcades. The addition is rather ugly from the outside, but has very good light distribution and maximizes display space. The art is well-curated, with a rotation of items on display that encompass the wide variety of visual arts throughout the ages. There is stuff by artists that you would not expect to find in a small-town museum. A very manageable, enjoyable museum The museum also owns the Weltzheimer/Johnson House a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian building that is open for tours seasonally.

Lovely museum! A nice way to spend an hour or two on a rainy day, or even a sunny day. The galleries have been recently updated and there's more to see then it appears at first. A definite must-see if you happen to be in Oberlin.

I liked to look at the modern art and laugh about how much I dislike modern art. The staff was annoying and followed us around and basically told us not to look at the paintings so hard. I leaned on the wall for two seconds, pointed a little too close to the picture, had my phone screen on for a second too long before i started walking, on top of just senselessly following. It was too quiet and it was horribly uncomfortable. I would probably never want to go again.

Free! Manageable collection. Take the free audio tour. They enlist the diverse range of faculty to talk about and respond to the art. Learned about optics of physics in a pointelist painting.

An outstanding art museum by any measure - especially for a college museum. I don't think enough locals in Oberlin and especially in Cleveland come out to visit this wonderful place. It's free and open to the public and boy is it worth it. Many of the big names can be found inside, as well as a well-curated collection of other artists. If you are looking for a day trip - come to Oberlin and visit the AMAM!
