The ladies at the front desk were awesome! Greeted us instantly and told us everything that the museum had to offer. The movie had already started so she came and got us so we could watch the whole movie. Lots of stuff to see. We learned a lot. My kids really enjoyed it.

(Translated by Google) Interesting place with some older photographs documenting the very hard life of the first settlers. (Original) Interessanter Ort mit einigen älteren Fotografien die das überaus harte Leben der ersten Siedler dokumentieren.

I was in Medora as I toured Theodore Roosevelt National Park and stayed in Medora while there. The ND Cowboy Hall of Fame is on the edge of town near the Sout entrance to the park. It is a small museum, only 2 floors. Upon entering it seems like a place out of time and, in reality there are parts of it or some of the exhibits that are outdated. But looking beyond this, the ND Cowboy Hall of Fame is a jewel of Western culture and times. It is filled with items from rodeos and its stars, with western gear and how it was used, e.g. Pony Express mailbag, and artifacts from the early settlers to the Plains or ND. There is a small gift shop and also an outside patio that might be a neat place to have a snack and rest awhile while taking in the views and history. Definitely worth a few hours of a day in Medora!

Not many artifacts. Lots of reading plaques. I think it should be combined with a history of Medora and the state of North Dakota. Cowboys might be part of your history but to most are not that interesting unless your into that sort of thing. Very nice lady at the front desk.

Dale Colby

Friendly staff and a very nice museum

The Cowboy Hall of Fame is an affordable and noteworthy place to visit in Medora. The great cowboy legends of North Dakota are all honored, including the legendary North Dakota Six pack. The hall of fame not only honors the cowboys of the plaina but also goes into detail about the history of horses on the plains and pays special tribute to the Native Americans who first used the horse in the state and who died protecting their land and were forced to move onto reservations. Definitely would recommend a visit at least once if you are in Medora.

Don't think that this North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame is just for cowboys. As someone who has only ridden a horse once (and poorly at that), I found this museum fascinating. It is a history museum more than a hall of fame, and anyone with an interest in the culture, history, and traditions of North Dakota would be well served by a visit. I also appreciated the portions about Native Americans.

This was a great place to learn the history of the American people. What hardships people endured, the hard work they did to save the American West. The cowboy history is very informative.

NDCHF has one of the best if not the best in the USA museums on the Western heritage of ranching, rodeo and historical perspectives of the West. 5 stars +.
