I really enjoyed my time here! The grounds are clean, well-kept, maintenanced on the regular. There wasn't anyone there whenever we went and I like that because we can do everything at our leisure. there's a little museum inside that is on the ground as well they were closed whenever I went but from what I could tell it seems to be a neat little gift shop in there and it seemed as they offered some type of short tour be for free. The trails were well marked, clean, and they were easy to navigate. The scenery is very pretty there are a lot of birds that you can hear singing. Little creeks/ ponds, and various ecosystems along the trail as you walk. Overall it's a very quaint, peaceful, and enjoyable place to be! I would recommend it if you're looking for a place to take the family or place to go hiking. You could take your dogs it was a very nice to visit!

Excellent museum for adults and children. Computer generated display that explains the history of the canal evolving into the use of water power to generate electricity. Many hands on activity centers for children. A must see for the whole family.

Great bike trail. Not crowded, and great for a quick after work or weekend ride that is low key. We did not go into the museum, but I walked through to use the restroom. It looked interesting. And if we had more time, we would have done it.

The trail is great place to clear your mind and a chance to enjoy nature. I would always take the left side of the trail because it's shorter and you would come across nice people, and beautiful lakes. I wouldn't recommend taking the trail alone. You must have someone to walk or go on a run with you for safety reasons. I would also recommend that during the summer to carry with you two cups of crush ice or a cold beverage while enjoying the out doors. The reason why I always take the left side of the trail is because it is well managed and the ending leads to roanoke rapids lake park.

Rita Spence
