Enjoyed the train ride and I saw the stem train. But our train had a problem, and we had to wait for 15 mins. But they fixed it and we were on our way!

My wife and I brought our toddler on an out of season day in early March. Even though the trains were not running, some very kind employees unlocked the exhibits and showed us around. We had an interesting and fun visit and definitely plan on coming back after April 1 to see everything in full operation.

Sure, it's a train ride, but honestly it is nothing but a bunch of woods and backyards, so if this is what you want... If there was something to actually look at, it would be more worthy of the ticket price. Also, the loud train horn caused the babies to cry, and it blew often. I probably won't do it again.

I am ready for a visit

Sharon Smith

Great learning experience for the young and old. Everyone so friendly. A place you can't just go to once.

Chris Oliver

I was disappointed with the train ride. The train rolled slowly down the track, passing through the woods, some backyards, and lots of litter. Technically, it was a train ride, but I've had more fun and seen better views on a kiddie train at the town carnival.

Great little railroad in the triangle. Good place to spend a couple of hours.

Bradley Pearce

We enjoyed our trip. It's a volunteer operation and it's great to see the progress they have made on all the different projects.

Love the whole are and the train is great. Great for kids, particularly the steam loco. The only small disadvantage are toilets - only four mobile ones and you know how they look like in the afternoon.

WOW.!!!! What a Great time last weekend Driving a Train! The staff was super friendly and willing to take the time to describe what was going on. For a Non Profit this place rocks on the donations alone. They are doing such a vital thing for all those that have never seen or ridden a steam engine. Good History of the line and why they are there. I gotta go back. Drove the Diesel Locomotive (bucket list item) and loved it. The Steam sells out quickly so you gotta be on it to get on that list. I will do that next time. THESE GUYS ARE GREAT and deserve our patronage. They are in the process of restoring another steam Locomotive that will really be the bomb! Anyway, It was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone that wants a ride into history. There are a few one star reviews. I would say to them that you have to appreciate the history of the train....Its a Historical Thing!! And a damn good one!! Not a carnival ride. Our society is too full of the instant gratification crowd (Sorry Pastor) This is the RAILROAD and the railroads built this great nation. Let us not forget our history. Let us be proud.

Michael Byers

A very nice way to spend time with family. The folks that run the place seem very committed to providing a safe, pleasant, and informative experience for everyone. One little caveat: If you don't like porta-potties, be forewarned. That will be your only option.

Paul Barth

My wife & I took a train ride here, and we had a good time. The tickets aren't overpriced, but I HIGHLY recommend paying an extra $1 to print the tickets at home so you don't have to wait in line picking up your tickets at the station. The train ride is about 4 miles north, and then back, each way taking ~30min. We couldn't hear the announcements on the train, the speaker wasn't loud enough, but it's scenic and we enjoyed it. There's a miniature train yard which is pretty cool to watch, and the museum is pretty interesting, with lots of pictures, artifacts, and information.

Don't know why this hidden gem doesn't get more press. It's a great place for all things trains.

tucker durgin

Awesome and all volunteer based, everyone is passionate about the train and what they do. Check this place out and they have a depot coming in April

We went Sept 23 on a Sunday at 10am and no one was there. I looked at the website and it said it was open but there was no events going on which is I suspect the only time people are there. Anyway, we were able to drive in and walk all around. Our 2yr old loved looking at the trains. We'll probably go back for the Halloween event and update this rating.

Leanne Collier

It was a great experience! My two year old loves trains. He's still going around days later putting his arm up and pulling an imaginary cord, saying choo-choooo! There is a lot to check out while you're waiting to ride the train. There are picnic tables with umbrellas and covered areas to sit in the shade. The restrooms are porta potties, but the one I went in was clean inside. The ride itself is pretty cool, you just sit and enjoy nature. I believe they said it was four miles. The little train sets you see at the beginning were pretty awesome!

Ryan Adams

Their cafe is good, and the train was okay, but way longer than we expected. Bring snacks.
