A reoccurring trip I keep making; I will go back again too. The new location of the museum was beautiful. The town has really worked hard to honor the past.

Went today for the first time. Staff were great and very knowledgeable. We spent about 2 hours digging around. Was kind of busy. But it was also a Saturday and a Boy Scout troop was there. I definitely plan to go back. Prices are not bad in gift shop.

If you're into history this is a great place to start in North Carolina. Literally the first town in the state, Historic Bath has some very well preserved houses from the turn of the century... the 19th century. The town is beautiful and peaceful, and the people are pretty friendly. There are a couple museums to visit and you can actually walk through several of the oldest houses. Make sure to stop by Blackbeard's Slices and Ice for some great food and ice cream. I had the Cappuccino flavored and it was delicious.

Only one house and the church were open the day we visited. The house wasn’t furnished. All others closed. Very disappointing. It was a wasted vacation day.

It's worth touring some of the old houses from the 1700s. Oldest town in NC.

I went there on a day that I just wanted to get away from where I live and I just started driving that way. And ended up in bath North Carolina. I went there and it was so beautiful and went to a little Country Restaurant if I'm not mistaken it was called Country Kitchen period and they sure do have the best food you could ever get and it is country style. I highly recommend the hamburger steak with gravy. But it's a very beautiful old historic place. I recommend it very highly.

Blackbeard, maps, and bicycles: what do they all have in common? They are all featured exhibits in historic Bath! I have thoroughly enjoyed all the exhibits I have seen at this free, little museum. Worth stopping by to see what they have. I did joke with my dad that the bicycle exhibit was a 'Guess It Yourself' exhibit, since they had about 15 extremely odd antique bicycles with no accompanying information. But I always learn something every time I go. Did you know the bicycle was associated with the Women's Rights and Suffrage movement? Or that the Pamlico River used to be called the Pamplicough on old maps? Or that Blackbeard was unique among pirates in that he knew how to read and write, and used a vast knowledge of human psychology to intimidate his opponents? Come here to learn something new and buy a little souvenier or gift to remember your visit!

Todd

Quaint and historic, stopped in on our way to Aurora Fossil museum. Bath should play up the pirate blackbeard connection more. Everyone loves a pirate! Town and history was awesome, but in a weird way tourist help keeps history relevant.

Jonathan Lawson

Awesome place to go for a quiet time by the river. Also the first church is here as St. Thomas Episcopal church.

Claudiu Oros

Very awesome staff, and lovely facilities! This is a must for anyone even remotely serious about the history of NC! It's the oldest official town in NC with the oldest church also! I did not think there would be as much history as there turned out to be. Did you know this was basically Edward Teachs' second home? You'll learn a lot about his activities if you come! Also a hint, visit off season, take a guided tour, it's more personalized and you won't have to worry about being slowed down by others. More you time and more relaxation time.

Brady Harper

Bath is a very unique place with a tremendous amount of history. It is the oldest town in North Carolina and home to Blackbeard the Pyrate! He was killed off the coast of Ocracoke Island on the outer banks of North Carolina in 1718 (301 years ago nlin November 2019)

Loved loved loved! The 2 ladies in the Gift Shop were very pleasant and informative. Loved the bbq exhibit!!!! Actually enjoyed and learned a lot. Enjoyed touring the House located on property-HOWEVER, there were 2 HUGE wasps nests right by the front door. The grass was a little tall walking toward the 2nd red house and the mosquitoes were atrocious, but had a great time!
