We have all the opinions of real people who used the products of Mystery Hill (Museum) in the state of North Carolina.
Nowadays the business has a score of 4.4 stars over 5 and that score has been calculated on 1136 reviews.
You may have noticed that it has an average rating is very positive, and it is based on a very high number of scores, so we may be pretty sure that the rating is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to give their score when they are happy, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to place evaluations when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Museum belongs to the category of Historical landmark.
An absolute delight! We went gem panning and found some HUGE gems. Didn't get a chance to actually go in as we were on our way home from vacation but last time I went I had an absolute ball
Interesting for families. Mining was quite expensive.
Staff was very knowledgeable, and very friendly. They went out of the way to make my daughters birthday special. Definitely recommend stopping in and checking this place out
was last here a decade ago still a great little trip
Kids loved it made me dizzy
It was really cool except for in the room with the actual anomaly I banged my face into the wall
It used to be a tourist trap that embraced being one. It is and was hokey, but that is part of the fun. The cheap price it used to be made it worth the price of admission. The tour guides now rush through everything that makes mystery hill great. Not having people stand in the correct place to understand how the making people taller illusion function correctly. Not orienting people in the room (which is the main attraction). The best way to experience this room is to come in and go all the way down to the bottom first. Look back up where you came in with your back against the wall. This is how your mind orients you to a room that feels correct in the way it is built versus walking into an incorrectly built room. The up charging and the prices are incongruous with the attractions it has. The arrowhead collection is impressive, but that has been a part of Mystery Hill's entrance fees in the past. I cared nothing for the tomahawk throws and nothing is tradable for another experience. The exhibits are and have been deteriorating for years and there has been no effort into fixing them or getting new updated versions. My wife opted for the old timey photo. We felt completely rushed and were offered no help in fixing or evaluating our appearance. It left us very disappointed. We left before visiting the fossil museum. Couldn't tell you about it. Overall its myeh to okay at best, but it is no longer a place I desire to take friends and family. The science museum is cheaper than visiting here and a lot more to do. Spend your money at your own risk. I'm done.
Decent way to blow an afternoon (or 2; buy tickets after 3p and come back the next day) especially if weather cancels other plans. That said, it ain't cheap for what it is. Calling the buildings "museums" is pretty generous. Interesting collections, ok.
Had the best time with my husband and almost 3 year old son. Our guide was awesome kept us intrigued the whole tour. Also she catered to our little one keeping his attention. I was impressed by the knowledge of the staff in the dinosaur museum they offered us a shortened tour due to the age of our child. This was appreciated.
Fun for about an hour with the grands, but the 20.00 price tag for an adult watching the 18.00 kids x5 was too much. Once every 5 years about enough for us
Fantastic!!!! Lots of things to do and see.
Fun. Still trying to figure out how much is illusion and how much is real as far as the 'Vortex" is concerned.
Lots of fun had tomahawk throwing and some cool optical illusions.
So you have to take a tour before you're able to just freely roam around and it's not as big of a place as it seems wasn't what we thought it would be and dinosaur fossils section was very small again your not able to freely look. the Indian Heritage is just arrowheads and then the old-time house that is upstairs you're not allowed to touch anything which everything is in reach and you for some people never seen it before you want to touch. I understand why because you can break it but would have been nice. the gem mining was fun the girl talked really low and really fast so I'm not sure what exactly we got but she gave us a part of all the gems we could have gotten. my family and I got the package where you can get the family photo of old times picture and I've always wanted to do this. The photographer didn't seem really into it he took pictures he sit down and didn't pose us. He shot some pictures of my son and my husband without me while I was still getting ready which was fine. He also didn't let me know that my street clothes were showing during the photo. he took the photos and then he gave us a time limit to come back and pick them up when we went back to pick him up he gave us a collage on the collage with two of the same photos and just a regular photo with us not smiling and you know the other two is us smiling i didnt get to see the pictures that he took of just the guys and we didnt get them at all. he said the rest of the photos be online the only thing online was those two photos I was very disappointed I'm a photographer myself and I know that is there's a better way to do photos.
Great place to go with the family.
Pretty fun place. Been going there for many yrs. Price is ridiculous. Can't believe what you pay now compared to the past. Such a RIP off for the price.
Had fun with a group of friends tonight with tomahawk and knife throwing and archery, then on to many snacks to share.
Great place to take a mini trip. Lots to see and do
So cool! A must for all who love the mysteries of science!
Great family fun!
My children are 5 and 11 and they both had the best time even in the museum's they could touch things
It was great! I don't recommend the Gravity Anomaly if you're pregnant or generally prone to throwing up, but it was a blast. Doc's Rocks was great as well. We always enjoy a good gemstone mine, though.
Great family fun. Getting the full pass is a must so you can do the old timey photo and gem mining. Don't miss out on the fossil museum and take the guided tour if offered.
The tomahawk throwing was fun. The fossil museum was wonderful and our tour guide was very knowledgable. The arrowhead museum was interesting. The gravitational anomaly room was fun and kids like the bubble room, the optical illusion room left something to be desired and there could have been more to the tour given in the gravitational anomaly part. We also did Doc Rocks (seperately, due to wanting specific packages and etc). Doc Rocks was WONDERFUL! A lot of fun and the staff was knowledgable. Kids loved it!!
All in all it was a good time. Each one of the features had good things. The only problem we had was with the tomahawk guys. Waited 15 minutes with kids who wanted to do the activity, and the guys were talking up a previous guest. Who was cute. They ignored us entirely, that is until we walked away and the 2nd guy came to meet the people behind us.
Kid friendly and fun for adults! There are many different activities and you'll make memories that last a lifetime.
So much to see and do and the kids had a blast. My only complaint is the cost... it was a little expensive for 8 people.
This is a fun place for young people to go, as well as older people and just about any age to explore. I remember going here many times as a young person and hope to return in the future.
This place is an amazing attraction 10/10 will go back!!
Kids had an awesome time.
Pretty cool exhibit spot bit of a tourist trap for anybody that goes there just warning you. you might have to pay a lot of money to get in to the things that you want into and it does take a long time to get into the mystery and I’m Leah which is really just an optical illusion so I mean don’t waste your money on this. cool experience but is a major tourist trap. the fossil museum is cool though and anomaly was cool but it takes forever ♾ Yes in conclusion it’s ok.
Good place to visit in Boone. Open rain or shine..Tickets range from 18.99 to 49.99.
Fun for all 2/72
Nice place very cool. Great people
Very cool place, getting there from shatley springs was sketchy but worth the trip!
Fun place but the entrance price is more that is worth
Fun place for the kids. Pretty pricey but a good time
Bit far from the hotel I was staying at but looked like fun would go
My family loved it!! The girls had a blast!!
Great place to visit
Perfect experience at a fair price. Even for little ones.
As for me dont care for it.
We had a great time time! Our tour guide, Jordan, was very knowledgeable and made an even more fun experience!
It was fun and interesting
Fun place. Kids loved it. They could use putting some money into making it bigger and adding some newer things however it was fun for the whole family. The puzzles were fun and my kids love the dinosaur museum. Make sure you do the optical illusion room. Cool place.
Awesome day trip for the family. Park and walk to each of the attractions. Everyone is friendly. Museums are interesting and the main attraction is a blast. We also had s blast at the gem mine. Awesome to share something from my childhood with the kids.
it's great for kids I'm sure....
Mystery Hill is a great place to take children, a great place to go on a date, and a great place to visit when you are in town only for a short time period some of the exhibits are a little old, but the children will not notice and they will enjoy it just fine. The variety of attractions means there's something for everyone.
Nothing to do with gravity. They just built the upstairs out of square so it makes you feel like the gravity is different.
It is a good way to show science to your children.
Good combination of different attractions here of vortex anomalies, science, bubbles, gift shops, gem mining, dinosaur and first nations people. Reasonable price for multiple attractions
Great place for families of all ages. Several different activities and museums.
Leashed dog friendly in most areas! Enjoyable museum of anomalies, Native American artifacts, and fossils for $20 per adult. You can also do a tomahawk throw or bow and arrow, old timey photos, gem mining, and shop at the gift shops. Saturday is their busiest day. The fossil museum closes one hour prior to the rest of the attraction so that was a bit disappointing, but you can usually come back the next day with your ticket. The proprietor is very friendly and helpful- you can tell he likes what he does. It’s truly a unique attraction and definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. A very kid- friendly place.
Always a great time when we visit the Boone and Blowing Rock area. Our kids love the mystery room and beg us to go back every year.
Great place to bring the kids loved the new stuff added
Lots of fun. Glad we decided to stop in on our way back home will definitely be back even my pre teen was smiling
Mediocre. It's something to do. The wacky room gave me instant veritgo and sickened my stomach. Patrons be warned!!
Great place to come and visit, kind of a tourist trap. Love the cabins and the puzzles inside. Fun for a family.
We had a great time, the guides were very helpful and informative.
Super fun place to visit. We have been for 2 years now. It’s a great place for kids (and adults). They have quite a few hands on things for you to do. Everyone is so nice and friendly! Don’t forget to purchase a combo or ultimate ticket- those get you gem mining, old time photo, and the Indian arrowhead museum. I highly recommended to visit Mystery Hill at least once— maybe twice!
I Always have a good time here, been multiple times. Never gets old
Amazing for all ages!
Great place for kids and adults! Our family had a great time there! Ages 7, 11, 13, 16, 42 & 66. Everyone had a great time and the staff was very very friendly and knowledgeable!
Pretty cool place for the kids. My wife actually enjoyed her time there also. I enjoyed the hatchet throwing. Parking is a little limited, but worth finding one to visit Mystery Hill. They have a huge collection of arrowheads. There is a tour of the old home place and a dinosaur display. For such a small place, it has a lot to do. They do old time photos, a snack place,, gym mining and more. The mystery hall is a bit crazy, will have you baffled and left wondering how they do it, or if some mysterious force is at work within the earth. If your in the area, stop by and check it out. We had a good time.
Typical roadside attraction. We did have a old time Western photo taken with 9 of us. One of the employees, David was outstanding. He was our tour guide and then doubled as our photographer. Kids enjoyed it as it is geared towards them. Best value is the combo package as it is the same price of just 2 of the individual options and you get 4.
Must see at least once. Personally have been here 3 times. It is fun and great for families or couples/dates. Spent at least 2-3 hrs here each time.
Loved it! Lots of fun!
Awesome place for the family
Went in early November and had a great time! We did the Ultimate package and had a blast. It was worth every penny. Our son enjoyed everything and the staff was extremely helpful with him in all locations, especially at the gem mine. We will be returning in the future!
I personally did not like this place very boring not many things to do
At first I thought, wow a little pricey, BUT...WOW great bang for your buck,Cool in more ways than one, pictures too !
We really enjoyed our time at Mystery Hill. The staff was wonderful and our kids enjoyed the experience. The owners are very involved and it was great to have an opportunity to get to know them a bit. We will certainly be back.
If you decide to go please take my advice and just purchase the 13.99 anomaly tour. They try to up sell you on a package deal, but you’ll end up spending $20-$40 per person on a roadside tourist trap. We paid $78 total (lowest priced package) for two adults and two kids, and I feel ripped off. Our kids (7 and 9) honestly could not have cared less about the place. Also our tour guide was a college kid who was nice enough, but rushed through the tour basically citing from a script he had memorized. Got the impression he would have rather been anywhere else.
Excelent atention, friendly personal.
Long time visitor to this amazing place. Putting my friends through the gravity room for the first time was one of the greatest pleasures of my life.
Great place to take your kids
Amazing!!!! We are here at the off season and had the place pretty much to ourselves!! Its a great place to blow a few hours and have a great time doing it!!!!
Fun and different...gotta do this at least once. Get the package... Hill, Rocks, Throws.
Honestly, I can't say anything bad about this place at all. My family thoroughly enjoyed everything! My only complaint is that it costs as mush as an amusement park and it was a bit underwhelming for the price. All of the staff were great and friendly!
It was very fun I was able to get half off. So it was really worth the money to me. One of the rooms there made me very drunk. But I loved it and would like to go back again.
Pretty cool place to visit... I didnt like the vortex room... really like learning about the fossils and the tomahawk throw
Mystery Hill does not disappoint. I will say that it is expensive for the packages as we spent about $120 for our family of four but we did everything there. The vortex room is exactly what it states. If you get vertigo, be prepared as I literary had to craw out. It's fun but can mess with you. The gem mining was fun for the kids as they explain the stones that are found and our kids really liked that part. The dinosaur tour was good for the kids and they have a lot of cool stuff. Our guide was VERY knowledgeable about what was there and friendly. Finally we had our "old time picture" taken and they came out great. Glad we have something to take back with us.
Great to take kids on a rainy day. Niece loved it and they were super attentive/inclusive for all ages in the exhibit!
I've been many times over the years, since I was a kid. I'm 48 and it's still a really neat experience!! If you're in the area, and you've never experienced it, you stop by
Some really interesting displays, especially for kids.
Interesting niche destination with target range for knife and tomahawk throwing practice!!!
Great place, our grandkids really enjoyed it
Great place for family fun.
The price has changed to 20$ a person for the cheapest tour package. You can't just purchase admission to visit mystery hill anymore, other museum is included. It's not very convenient for people just passing through the area because most people are traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway have limited time.
Amazing. Odd. Different. Peculiar. And fun. Great for young and old alike. Looks to see and do at this location.
Loved this place since I was a kid!
Great place especially for kids. I used to go as a kid and enjoyed going back as an adult because of the memories.
Tamahawk throwing is really cool. Museum is interesting. Many of the other items seem to be geared toward younger crowd. People that work here are really nice
Lots of fun for all ages. Good activity rain or shine. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. We got the ultimate tickets. It's a good 5 hours of entertainment.
Very unique place. The vortex was unreal. We bought season passes because it's worth it. Can't wait to go back.
Great family fun.
Awesome place! Very interesting. Great staff. It did make me nauseous but I still enjoyed it.
Great time for us. It was a day long adventure. I highly recommend this place. We brought a lunch and spent the day.
Great place for the kiddos and parents will have fun also
The mystery hill part was fun i did get a little bored on the history of the place though. The tomahawk throwing, knife throwing, blow darts, and bowenarrow was fun. But don't waste your money on gem mining I watched the workers scoop dirt that was already used and put it in the bucket so they probably pick out what cheap gems you find too
We had a lot of fun at Mystery Hill and were able to spend half a day enjoying the various attractions on sight. Mystery Hill is within walking distance of Tweetise Railroad and makes an extra little excursion easily accessible. We enjoyed the Gravity Vortex and Gem Mining the most. The packages they have available are semi-affordable. The Tomahawk Throwing could have been a bit better as we were only given two throws. It takes several to get the feel of it. The Gem Mining was educational on top of being enjoyable. We walked away with a bag full of large gems the size of our hands! The dinosaur tour was okay. It would have been better with a headset self guided tour instead of a real person. Our tour guide was a tad restless and ready for a break. He was knowledgeable though. We would only return to visit the Vortex and gem mining however. You will have fun here, but don’t waste your extra money on the home tour or Indian Artifacts.
Mystery Hill has lots to do; a fun experience in the wacky gravity room, a small dinosaur and fossil museum, a tour of the early 1900’s home of the founder of Appalachian State U, and panning for gems, and an Indian artifact (arrowhead collection) with a beautiful backstory (make sure to watch the story while you are in there), along with a plethora of gifts and gift shops. It was well done and we were most impressed with the young tour guides we had for the home and the dinosaur museum. You aren’t left to wander around and wonder where you should be going, like you are at some places. They really were attentive and it was a good experience. I could tell they took pride in the place and I appreciated that.
Caty(?) is the best tour guide
Good time by all enjoyed the vortex and bubbles better than the rest. We went twice and had two different guides. One was better than the other.
We didn’t go inside and see all the neat exhibits, mainly because the last time we visited it was three dollars. Now it’s $20 for the lowest package. But we did do some mining in the gem mine and found some really neat rocks! Well worth the money!
Gravity vortex is a must-see in this area. Not quite sure what is happening but the effects are real !!! Tomahawk throw is an interesting experience ! The guy who gave the tour in Dinosaur Museum was really excited about the stuff they have on display. Glad to see someone who likes their work very much and are excited !
Great family place to visit for fun! My 16 y/o grandson loved it! The historical indian artifacts museum is something no one should miss!
Really plays games with the mind. The children in the other groups seem to enjoy it.
Lots of fun for the whole family
My niece and nephew loved it. They were so nice to my niece when she got a mining bucket that didn't have any gems.
For the money I guess it was worth it. But don't buy anything from their gift shop because its all JUNK!! BOUGHT A COFFEE CUP WITH COPPER NC FIRST IN FLIGHT emblem. First cup of coffee and emblem falls right off coming out the gate. Really?? Also, every tour guide in museums and especially at the archery were a real joke. No professionalism at all to say the least. The guy at the archery never made eye contact. Just looked at on coming guest in parking lot. They all act like they could care less like we're just another number or something.
Never before have I felt like I have wasted so much money. We stopped here because a friend recommended it to us, but quickly learned this was an attraction for children. It was nothing but a mind trick house aimed at little kids. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1 was because their arrowhead collection (which was amazing) and tomahawk throwing was cool, but not worth $20 a head. Save your money, do something else.
Fun place to take the family. Our favorite was the archery at the end! Lol
Something changed and they jacked the price through the roof since my last visit. Totally not worth it!! Skip it and go see blowing Rock instead.
Lots to do in one place. Staff very friendly and helpful.
We had a blast.
We were super well pleased with how far $30/person went while visiting the facility. Pretty much, we were able to see and do all the attractions for that price total including the gem mine, which was the most informative and educational experience at any gem mine ever. The staff are super passionate and friendly. Plus, whatever you find can be shaped and cut into whatever stone shape you want, then plaved into jewelry. The dinosaur exhibit was out of this world as we had a guide who took time to answer all out questions and was very smart about everything in the place, plus some. The early 1900s house was neat as it took us ok a jouney back to the dawn of the century. We enjoyed seeing all the exhibits there. Our photos turned out nice, just beware of the dressup clothes: lice!!!!!
Great place for children, teens, college people alike.
Fun place to visit. Interesting stories and history. Not bad on the prices. You get a short intro in the beginning and a quick tour but then you are left on your own to explore and have fun. The mystery room is strange and fun and really hard to describe. It messes with your head and equilibrium. You feel a strong sense of pulling to the back of the room. Once your done playing there, they have a few rooms of games, puzzles and other neat things for kids and adults. Overall we had fun, this was our first mystery spot experience and we can't wait to visit some others.
Great place to bring kids! Watch water run uphill, balls roll uphill, feel unusual gravitational pull, make large bubbles, look at arrowhead & dinosaur museums, throw tomahawks, tour historical home, gem mine, and have old fashioned pictures taken. Not particularly wheelchair friendly. They claimed to have wheelchair access, but several areas had uneven thresholds that an electric wheelchair could not get over with out flipping over. A good day trip. In close proximity to Tweetsie Railroad, Boone & Appalachian State. Beautiful mountainous area!
Pricey but kids love it.
Honestly, this place is really fun. But it's kind of a scam. I highly recommend it because of how much we were able to entertain ourselves, but everything there is mainly for the kids. It's actually educational and fun for the kids, but the "mystery" part really doesn't exist there. But it's ok! They have a restaurant, a huge connect four, axe throwing, and that INSANE LEANING ROOM. Yeah, I had a ton of fun for 20$, but they still don't have decent proof that gravity is messed up there. :/ They did a good job making an attraction around the idea though, don't get me wrong!
It was very interesting and we had a fun time with our kids.
You get so much with the deluxe deal, well worth it. We enjoyed everything. I would definitely go back.
Kids had a great time! Even the little ones threw the hatchet well! Iron ore deposit vs. Aliens
Been here couple of times and the staff takes time and explains the history of the place and the fun stuff about the place. They never seems to be rushing you.
I mean, it's cute. If you want to go somewhere and feel good about taking your kids to a semi-educational place then go right ahead. Not gonna be everyone's cup of tea
It was an awesome trip up to the mountains. I liked it. Just looking into maybe spending a week up there sometime.
A little pricey but it is absolutely an experience! Some little things for the kids to play with, bubble room, they added tomahawk throwing this year but it is extra! All thogether it's a pretty fun little place!
Amazing place that's fun for the whole family. The tilted floor does make you feel weird. Caution.
Love Sunny Rock. Always eat here when in Blowing Rock.
Very friendly and awsome place for family
fun place for a school trip or to spend 2-3 hours with activities for kids and adults
Family fun for a day trip.
Amazing place. Pictures dont do any justice.
This place is a lot of fun. The prices were really good for all the things you can do here. They have gem mining, tomahawk throwing a dinosaur museum and another small museum. Plus coffee and donuts. This place is great. To top it off the people that work there are the nicest. Always smiling and pleasant.
Ticket prices are too high. Whole thing is a cheesy. The "gravity vortex" room is built at a 45° angle so the ball rolling and water going uphill arnt. I checked it with a level. It would be cool for a kid they would be amazed but for adults it was dumb. We only went because we saw the tomahawk throwing but you have to go though all the other parts to get there last, which is the scam. And you have to pay per throw which is far too much. We bought the cheapest tickets and still felt ripped off.
Kids loved it. Some basic physics and physiology explains the place.
Super cool place, everyone should check it out atleast once...
Friendly staff members kool place
Right now is to spend set for a short trip
So much fun for all ages. It is really a very unique place. The room with the swing might make some people have vertigo. It is really fun for kids to play on. I highly recommend this place.
Our family enjoyed all the things to do! Dinosaurs, gem mining, native American museum, hatchet throwing and more! It was a very good value too!
What a great time. Our guide was very helpful, funny and extremely knowledgeable. Prices were pretty reasonable. I highly recommend everyone check this place out, it will blow your mind.
Unique family fun, great bargain!
Just did the old timey photo here. Very neat!
Extraordinary experience with change of gravitation! Nice expo of Indian artifacts and old house environment. A bit too expensive for quite limited activities.
Very fun experience. Well worth the money to do it all. A lot of things that are hard to explain. I think I figured them all out though. Very good family fun. Plan to spend a few hours to see and do it all though.
We stopped by here because we had a coupon. We absolutely loved it! The gem mining was cool, and throwing tomahawks! cady gave us our tour for the house portion and she was quite lively. I can’t say much for the other tour guides but she was phenomenal. If you’re in Boone it’s a cool little place to spend ~2 hours at just enjoying yourself!
Great for the family tons of stuff to do
It was fascinating everyone was very nice and the vortex room was AWESOME I had a blast!!! Totally recommend to everyone!!! Fun for all ages!!! Can’t wait to go again!!! My tour guide Rebecca was very informative, funny, and her assistant was adorable really gave it that family feel. We had a great time overall!!
Really not funny for a leagally blind person. Had a lot of laughter. Thank you!
This place is very family friendly. The gravity room is definitely unique, but even at $17.99 adult/ $15.99 child that is too much for what it is. The Indian artifacts are the same thing over and over. The dinosaur fossils are several small displays crammed together in a couple of rooms. The gravity room is fun but still not $74 worth (yes, they charge taxes on that) for a family of 4! Go to tweetsie railroad!!
You feel a strong gravitational pull in the room (vortex) and quite honestly it will make you feel a bit queezy. We tried to pass this place off as an optical illusion but when we got home we looked through our photos and though most were normal there was one that was not. I did not use any tool to produce this strange image and could not duplicate it when I tried. It is 100% accurate and there is no explanation. I promise on my mothers grave and on the Holy Bible.
Stopped by here today with my wife. We enjoyed it. It is a bit pricey but we spent 2 hours looking around. I just want to give a shout out to all the employees. They were all very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. The young lady at the historic house was amazing and enthusiastic as she shared about the history of the home. The young man at the Dino area was amazing as he shared about the different fossils they had. He made me care because he was so excited to tell me about them. The young man at the gem area that gave us another bucket of dirt to pan out because we did not get many stones in our first bucket was intuitive. All of the employees were college age and younger and they impressed me today. Keep up the good work, even though it was a bit overpriced you made it worth the price.
So much to do for families here! Loved it.
Very different and unique! Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable of area and museum. Thousands of arrowheads and other Native American artifacts neatly arranged and interesting dinosaur fossils and natural minerals and stones. Plus outside activities and snacks and ice cream!
