I had a wonderful time. The Poe House tour was well done. Perfect for a boring day

Karen Pedersen

Spent a couple of hours here on a hot June afternoon. Lots of great displays covering history from early native American migration into the cape fear area through the civil war . No crowds .No admission . Well worth your time.

Vee L

Museum is great for all ages. Very good tour guide to the Poe House, and seeing the Arsenal and grounds across the highway. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Eileen-Margaret Churchill

My husband and I brought our toddler here after hiking around Carvers Creek State Park and we were blown away by how much they have packed into this space! I loved their temporary display on "A Python Called George" and my toddler loved the toy train upstairs. Both my husband and I were astounded by the number of displays, and the receptionist was very friendly. Would highly recommend if you want to drop in for some interactive history displays, and is extremely child-friendly.

Michael Pait

Very cool place to look at the history of the area!

Luke Ahn

I had some time to kill, and the museum complex exceeded my expectations. The admission is free, and I was more than happy to donate. This is a great museum for the area, but the real gem is the tour in the Victorian house of EA Poe. This is not THE Edgar Allan Poe whom is the famous writer, but rather someone from the area whom was progressive that sent his six daughters to college. Highly recommend the Poe tour that makes this place shine.

Vester Roper

This is a good museum. It has tells of battles and weapon and uniforms from wars past and present. Well worth going to.

Carrie Rose

Nice small museum. Something to do.

Allen Kennedy

A treasure of a museum. Well designed and full of artifacts. It was so interesting to learn about the plank road and importance of the river to the area.

Supdeeht

Took my grandson, he loved it. It's a wonderful museum to go to. We really enjoyed ourselves, only wish it was a little bigger.

Steve Groce

The history is awesome to see.

Dennis Brault

Bertie's Retro Boutique

My dai3ghter and I attended the Halloween tour , quick 20min.

Antonio Valcarcel

Had a great time this morning with my three-and-a-half-year-old. We explored the museum and then walked over with a tour guide to the poe house next door. Luckily we were the only ones so the tour was geared towards her! The girl was very kind and patient and luckily my three-year-old was very engaged! Thank you for the hospitality everyone!

Kamae Wolf

Had a great time, perfect for both adults and kids. Amazing self guided walk through tour with a historical depiction of the area. "Touch bags" were great for the kids with items they could feel while following along the accompanying written dialog.

B. Wheatley

Wonderful museum! Very important local history .

Carmen Colon

Nicola Graham

Very nice tour guide.

Julie Passmore

House was very nice. It was interesting to see how things use to be.

Don Matheson

Very interesting complex and good neighbors! Very nice staff and you owe it to yourself to take a tour and with your family if you have one. And take a tour of St Michael's Church right across the street. It's a unique building you will enjoy as well.

Shana Martin

This is such a great museum. I took my family when they came to visit and they loved it too.

Michelle Portee

Better than we expected. Very nice historical

Heather Burns

the price is right (free!) but they do take donations. If you do just the museum, you will like spend less than an hour there...even reading every sign. The Pope House tour is a must as it is beautifully restored and preserved and the guide seems to know every detail of the Pope family and house's history.

Melissa Florez

It was so much fun! Had a beautiful park connected outside, definitely a photo genic area.

Ramsey Branam

If you are willing to get off the paved walkway and onto the wooded trails you are in for a true hiking delight. The Owl's Roost Trail is about 5 miles and hugs the lake shoreline much of the way. A few challenging spots will get your heart pumping. You can really get away from it all and still be only 10 minutes from downtown Greensboro.

Cathia Darling

Outstanding history of the region.

Madison Czerepak

Considering it is a historical site in a small town, they do a pretty good job. It is also free and accessible to those with disabilities.

Jennifer Velasquez

The museum and house are very well kept. Ruth was great at explaining everything during the tour. You can learn a lot about how people used to live during that time. The museum is free and they accept donations. The museum has a cute store and great prices to get souvenirs.

Sherry Johnson

The best adventures are the ones you stumble on. I learned a lot while I was here. The historian that gave me the tour was very personable & informative.

Carol Scheib

Truly a treasure trove of culture and information.

Christopher Kellogg

It's a cool little experience to do with your kids if you're in town.

Lydia Jenkins

Nice museum, free admission, E.A Poe House is beautiful.

Great complex that includes an interpretive walk to the arsenal, museum of NC interest going back to the"Archaic Period", and wonderful tour of the adjacent Victorian Poe House.

Barry Meyer

Be sure to take Pope house tour.

Robyn Jackson
