An absolute must see when visiting Charlotte.
My first time here since recently moving to NC. Very nice museum with the most courteous employees. I will bring others here when they come for a visit
Jacob excellent wait staff Scallops the best
Filled with wonderful art, we enjoyed our visit and we will be back!!
They need to get it together, but the Michael Sherrill exhibit is awesome!
Excellent art museum in uptown! Whether you're into Modern art or the amazing visiting shows like the Broadway costumes or Madeleine Albright's broach collection, the Mint is fabulous for art. They also have great permanent collections and I have visited many times. Check for specials or go on Wednesday evening from 5-9 pm when it's free! (Tip--The restaurant Halcyon is phenomenal too if you go for dinner afterwards and it is in the same building!!) Parking is easy in the lot across the street or the underground deck too.
Loved it, great exhibits and friendly staff
Very cool experience for kids and adults. Tours are 15-30 minutes long and they're exquisite. I definitely recommend this as a trip to go on while in Charlotte.
Great variety of exhibits - something for everyone!
Great art! Friendly and knowledgeable docents.
Beautiful Artwork :)
Beautiful selection of art and craftwork, relatively small museum that you can get through in 2-3 hours. I love that you can also get admission to their other location the next day. Just sad we’re leaving town too early to see the other museum.
Very few exhibit halls open. Construction works make it loud, hard to enjoy!
My favorite museum in town
Loved it! Definitely take the guided tour.
Beautiful museum to host an event in.
Very interesting artwork
Been a few times and it's always a pleasure. New limited time exhibits can be found on the top floor, while many of the other floors contain permanent pieces. Low price for a humbling and meaningful experience.
Great place fun to see all the exibit
This was a very nice trip, however the collection was pretty small and specific. Would still recommend for anyone in the Charlotte area.
I visit both of the mint museums and this is for sure my favorite even that the other has a better outside space . Lots of modern art, lots of local artists that is very interesting. The children room is very well thought and little one could stay there forever if we let him . The space is divided in different areas inspired by different art pieces from the museum. There is also a art area where children can paint, do collage , do origami etc... In the bathrooms there is a changing tables and in the 3rd floor you can find a special room for nursing or changing also . Park in the garage next to it , $5 only during the weekend with direct elevator to the museum . The 3rd floor was my favorite besides the children’s room .
The kids loved the room downstairs made just for them!! No crowd's after 6pm
A great museum!
World class. Free admission on Wednesday after 5. Take advantage if you can
Good location for meetings and other entertaining activities.
Free on Wednesday nights! Great variety of art.
My daughter and I are fairly new to the Charlotte area and we visit the museum for the first time on a day trip we had a blast. It was so informative there was so much to see and it was definitely not a waste of our time or money. I would definitely recommend if you're visiting the Charlotte area or new to the Charlotte area make sure to visit this Museum.
Beautiful experience with my wife
Lovely artwork and lots of it!
If you're a fan of Modern Art, then this is a must-see when you're in Charlotte. There is some traditional art at this location, but it is the Modern Art that tis the most stunning. It is well presented in a series of galleries that are spread over three floors, with both elevator and escalator access. The museum is located in the heart of downtown (they call it "uptown") with parking right next door. The Museum Store is unusually large for a smaller museum like this, and although a bit pricey, they have a good selection of items related to art and the museum.
Great quick informative. I don't need to go back, but glad we stopped.
Great experience, Great Art.!!!
Nice museum We had a wonderful time in here
Gr8 experience during NBA All-Star.
Absolutely an amazing experience! The galleries were both fascinating and very well maintained. Personally think it's better than the Randolph location.
I enjoyed the different galleries and the separation between them. Gave me a different experience within each. A nice creative and engaging way to spend an evening. The free entrance with Bank of America CC was a plus.
Very disappointing... Wanted more and this just really lacked a days trip to Charlotte... Only spent an hour or less and there are 5 floors.
A beautiful collection with lovely staff. Be sure to donate!
This Place was stupid. If you want to enjoy this place you must really love art. Especially For $15 dollars no thanks I rather enjoy the art on the streets.
Nice art and beautiful setting.
Service not so great food is decent
I enjoyed the museum: it is spacy and has different exhibitions of the authors I have never heard of before. The only thing I feel bad for is that I didn’t get a tour guide.
The 4th floor was intriguing and the gift shop was great
Had so much fun, it was amazing.
Beautiful exhibits. Excellent meeting space.
If you like art at all you'll love it. If you don't like art you'll love it!
Welcoming atmosphere. Nice and varying styles of art. I will absolutely return to view another exhibit. Be mindful of children visiting with you there are some xrated materials on show
Very good museum. A large collection of works by American painters. Terrific building and galleries were very well curated
The museum is smaller than other famous museums in big towns. however spent more than 2 hours to explore. We really enjoyed the special exhibit of "Michael Sherrill Retrospective" and "Under Construction: Collage from The Mint Museum" . You may lean a lot from the videos in the exhibit room, and I was impressed the museum could have those events. If you have a chance to visit Charlotte for any sports/music event, this is the great place to visit during the daytime.
Definitely the best museum gift shop I've visited, and I've been to a lot! The museum itself is beautiful and well worth seeing. I appreciate that, in general, they allow pictures to gaze at for inspiration afterwards.
Fun, lots of interesting artworks here. Will visit again
The Uptown location has a lot to offer! A children's gallery for small children to play in, an interesting permanent collection and really cool special exhibitions. I love visiting the Mint - it's a great place for a date or to get inspired.
Very cool part of the city. A few friends and I went on a free night and enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't to busy so we felt free to take our time browsing. The Green is across the street and is a very enjoyable little park. Parking is also free and convenient on the free museum admission nights.
Amazing place for art... In the middle of the city of Charlotte. The arquitecture of the all the block is the perfect sincronize of the zone. Because everything is in perfect place.
This is a very nice place to get some culture. The plant room is one of my favorites. Wednesday is free admission!
Outside looks promising but overall lackluster exhibits. To be fair, there were a few excellent pieces. But a major city like Charlotte can do better. Randomly, their giftshop sells small cartons of water if you are thirsty.. so they have that going
The name is deceiving and they do not nor have they ever printed money here at the “Charlotte Mint museum”. But if art is your thing it is okay. Rating is based on the art, not my inability to decipher their name.
Small but well displayed collection in a beautiful seeing. I love the building. Great kids programming. Very nice glass pieces and an impressive Chihuly in the entrance area. Wish they had audio guides available and free daily docent tours.
This was an awesome experience to say the least. There was a very wide collection of art here from abstract to sculptures and fashion. I will be visiting again here soon. Make sure to have a couple of hours to spare as there are several floors of art to explore. The staff here is very friendly and attentive.
I really enjoyed my visit! I went to the Gantt museum across the street first, and it seems there's a discount for folks who visit the Gantt on the same day. There was four or five floors with all types of art. I particularly enjoyed the glass and wood section of art. Great art museum with plenty to see. There is a lot of artwork so the ticket I bought was good for two days in either this location or the Randolph location. I breezed through some of the upper floors - it took about 2 hours in total.
I'm sorry to disappoint, but I'm not a fan. I love museum's, I'm not trying to be boushie but these 2 museum's aren't really museum's. For $30 you can visit both, not sure why there are 2. Each one barely had enough in them! They should combine what they have in both into 1. It was a total waste of time to go to both. It was more like an exhibit, not a proper museum. I've been to several museum's, my husband and I were so disappointed. The total cost for the day, not including gas was $40 for about a 25-30 minute walk through each place this included parking downtown. I appreciate the thought and the effort, but there really isn't anything to see. Please combine the 2, and then it would be a small museum but at least worth the trip So disappointed, with the heat if it had been AMAZING, which it wasn't then I would have gotten over the heat. So if you have ABSOLUTELY nothing to spend $40 on go. The one nice thing your ticket is good for 2 days, but why I ask it's a 20-30 minute walk through at best.
Enjoyed the visit and the ability to see the other location on the same ticket
Love the Mint Museum and all of the cultural events they offer. They are part of our community.
Another amazing museum in uptown
Love going during the free hours on Wednesday night!
Had an awesome time.
Fantastic exhibits, excellent knowledgeable staff and a wonderful atmosphere 10/10 would highly reccomend visiting!
This is the place to learn many things.
Great place to spend a few hours with family
My daughter did a Latin dance recital there 1 week ago..I love it there! Que Bueno!
Great place for creative inspiration. I wish they would put new items in their permanent exhibit though.
Really cool place. We managed to get in for free, but don't tell anyone. Cool spot in Charlotte.
Beautiful art.
Great museum, I met a lot of new and interesting people. The art is wonderful, I was a little upset I didn't get to experience their new installation Luminsonica due to technical issues. Still had an awesome time there!
The Mint Museum is a wonderful Uptown cultural adventure featuring prominent artists from around the world . The works on display cover tons of different mediums from photography, sculpture, painting, and many many more. It is a beautiful location in the heart of the city that hosts multiple cultural events.
Great museum. Just the right size. Has very interesting exhibits. Changes often so visiting periodically is not boring.
The mint was a perfect venue for our wedding. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and made our process so easy. Thank you Gary for making our special day stress free.
The Mint always has something for everyone. I love the permanent collections and they always have great shows on rotation.
Beautiful pieces and architecture - clean facility.
Visited a few weeks back. The collection was nice, about what we expected. However, both women working the front desk were snarky, rude, just plain unpleasant.
A beautiful museum with lots to offer. My 11 yr old, is a huge fan of this museum. Prices for entry are reasonable and they offer various exhibits.
Nice place!
Beautiful gallery space. Just need to teach patrons to converse quietly, refrain from eating in the gallery space, and NOT touch the art.
Brilliant guides and very interesting exhibits
Just a beautiful space
A beautiful, inspiring, and relaxing place to visit.
Transports you to another world for a couple hours.
A must see for artistic cultural enrichment
We had a blast here on a Sunday afternoon. The cool ac is a perfect offset for a hot day. Before heading out to this location, I highly recommend checking out their calendar of events.
Great collection of crafts (Glass and wood notably)
Beautiful Art.
Charmed by the massive yet beautiful outside, we were treated to a truly exciting and compelling collection. We loved the American art, with sprinkles of costumes and sculpture, going from early America up to contemporary art. The spaces are open and flexible, with nice touches and perfect lighting, inviting you to linger at your favorites (and we had several). The craft/sculptural floor is also stunning, with a few massive works and small works that you simply want to absorb. We even loved the temporary installation! Just a great find for anyone visiting downtown.
What a delightful museum! I was completely surprised by the number of wonderful contemporary art exhibits. The museum is large and open which makes it not feel crowded. Affordably priced. The onsite restaurant was great for a cocktail and snack. But above all, don't miss the museum store -- fantastic in it's own right. Beautifully curated and a great place to find unique gifts.
I had a blast at this museum. It was very interesting and gave good info on the artist that made it.
If you go the first sunday of every month, and have a Bank of america Account , debit card or credit card , you get in free. Nice surprise for me today. Applies to different museums also. Beautiful wood carvings and glass sculptures which were my favorites.
Beautiful art!! My children really had a blast! It was my oldest sons' birthday! Big 13 and that was where he wanted to go!
For me it was a good experience. We went on Wednesday evening and entering to the museum was free. I enjoyed all the art work in this museum, specially the paintings. But my boyfriend find it boring. I guess it depends if you are a museum person or not. It was beautiful and interesting. (I think the first Wednesday of every month the entering to the museum is free, but better check before go).
Amazing art work and highly recommend this museum
What can I say about the Mint Museum that hasn't already been said? We have world-class art that any city would envy, right here in Charlotte.
We dropped in on the day they re-opened after some renovation. It's a very nice art museum with some interesting and varied exhibits. The art runs the gamut from modern to traditional, with a variety of media. Highly recommended, and it's in an area with loads of nice restaurants and lounges, as well as its own Halcyon restaurant. Wednesdays are free, too. What's not to like>
Very nice layout an friendly people!
Beautiful, great every time I come in. Absolutely love this place
Good museum for a small city. Underwhelming for those used to metropolitan museums, but sufficient for a city of this size. It seemed to me that they carry a lot of abstract paintings and more modern pieces.
The Crayola scribbled drawings were AMAZING. There was tons of art with stick figures and even houses. I also was blown away by the macaroni pictures where they glue them into shapes. One piece on display had exquisite use of alphabet shaped pastas. Such stunning and intricate words such as “dog” and “mom” were sprawled across colored pieces of construction paper. Finally, there was a section where Playdough shapes were on display. There were squares, circles and even an asymmetric heart. All in all a great experience with fabulous masterpieces.
We took advantage of the free Wednesday evenings. The five floors are full of a wide range of art. Our family especially enjoyed creating art projects in the children's space.
The CineOddessy Festival and this venue were perfect together!
Wonderful atmosphere. The lady at the reception was very welcoming. There are many gallaries and artifacts. The day I went, there was a man playing a guitar and a lady singing, which added a different side to the museum.
It’s so beautiful and inspiring!
Wonderful experience .
Beautiful museum with great historical artifacts and events. I attended a fashion show there and it was an amazing event. I love the decor and the beautiful Atmosphere.
Never been here but it looks ok
Went to a wedding/reception here. What a great spot! Ceremony and reception was downstairs, with dinner upstairs. Staff was great. Food was good. Would recommend.
Love the Chihuly chandelier! Always fun and inviting. Free to the public every Wednesday from 5pm-9pm! Great outdoor patio to sit and have a conversation or eat some food from the restaurant. Always look forward to their ever changing exhibits. Fun for the whole family.
Took my son (7) he had a blasty
The contemporary art on display is breathtaking! The admission price is quite fair as well, and gets you access to both museum locations.
Such a cool museum. There was something raw about the elemental nature of the exhibit that was being shown. I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend going. There's a student / teacher discount too!
My husband took me here for a surprise date after a wonderful night of other surprises and I was delighted by every level. After a few hours we were reminded a couple times it was closed and I still hadn't seen everything!!
We love walking around and seeing all the beautiful art work. Love having such good art so local.
Very cool exhibits! Must see...
Amazing!
Our school rented out the fifth floor for prom. It was gorgeous! The employees still working the museum were so attentive, too.
Nice museum, the people there were fantastic. The building felt spacious and the layout led you through the art on display in a natural way. There were many different types of art from portraits to pottery to collages. Something for anyone. It is a little pricey for a family, but worth it if you are interested in seeing ideas made real.
Great medium-sized museum to spend an afternoon. Love their collection of American artists. The 10-minute art chats with a docent explaining different works of art are definitely worth your time, and are included in admission.
Wonderful museum. So much to see. They have their regular exhibits plus two special exhibits.
They did a great job of sanding the wooden floors a couple of months ago and the art exhibitions are amazing every time I go!
I visit this museum on a regular basis due to its relevant and interesting galleries. With five floors of different galleries, this museum offers something for the intrigued mind while sharing space with local artists on the fifth floor. If you read everything in this museum, the attention to detail and depth of meaning in everything will be enough to bring you back.
Lots of modern art
Beautiful event space in the heart of uptown. Two great event locations inside to wow your guest. Large terrace and art galore. Check it out.
Wonderful array all different kinds of art in a beautiful setting
Great place and very fair, get the membership, it's worth it. 4 floors of fun, the first being a family art where you can be hands on, great for younger kids especially. The remaining floors offer exhibits of rotating artists and their in-house collection. Relaxing, spacious and engaging.
The Mint on Randolph offers a very eclectic collection. The grounds are significant and the building is beautiful. My favorite is their African textile collection...stunning colors.
I visited two Museums while in downtown Charlotte. I was immensely impressed by the Mint. I thought the collection of Contemporary Art was impressive, eclectic and extremely interesting. I immensely enjoyed the architecture the interior spaces for the building as well. The museum is accessible for both an experienced aficionado and the average layperson. While I was there, they were having a special exhibition of theater and television costumes. It was a great exhibition I particularly enjoyed. I hope to return at some point in the future.
Went here for a Latin night. Beautiful venue, had an amazing time
Such a lovely museum, very nice staff, beautiful art, and inspiring pieces. Highly recommend
The Mint has a great set of collections, both permeant and rotating! It's such a pleasure to come here and interact/view the art! The staff are always kind. It's usually not worth going more than every 3 months or so unless you enjoy the permeant collection but that's part for the course for museums!
Nice contemporary art and materials section. Although I'm not big on contemporary art, I did appreciate their permanent exhibit. They also have many works of art by local artists
Loved all the art work in the Mint Museums. One of my favorite art museums now.
This place is amazing.. I love art and love this place . It's a place where all types of art is showcased. They also gives the community the opportunity for you to play a role in the showcasing by voting and even gives the community opportunity to add their art. The people who works there are very informative of the art and pieces. Just go and look around.
Liked the overall museum. We got in for free because of Bank of America museums on us program otherwise $15 entry is steep for smallish place.
Enjoy this today
Fun and relaxing place to go $15 for two day pass and visit the mint downtown and Randolph very exciting and very neat things to see and do. I would highly recommended if you're in the Charlotte area especially if it's raining or hot / cool outside.Great walk around and just observe all the art and history of the past and present.
We like the kids area, and enjoy a few exhibits here upstairs. Amazing space too, wish they could get more coordinated between all the works though.
SNKRS Pop Up was cool.
Good experience, beautiful exhibits, great service, and amazing kiddie area!
Great museum. Mostly modern art but they do have a nice section of American Art that is dated. Some pieces are interactive while others follow themes. Definitely worth a visit while in Charlotte.
Great displays. Beautiful building. It's a must for me every time I'm in Charlotte.
The Nellie Ashford exhibit was excellent!!
Great museum for contemporary art fans! I loved the featured exhibits they had. Small museum but good. General admission ($10.00) is pretty reasonable (student discounts are available with school ID- $8.00) I would say you could see all the highlights of this museum in 1 hour and 30 minutes! Skip the gift store though! In my opinion it is overpriced although some things are a good deal. But you will pay tourist prices! I do recommend this museum for older adults, middle aged and older people. Not really a kid museum though (go to the NASCAR Hall of Fame for the kids).
It was very nice and some interesting staff.
Wonderfully whimsical and fantastically crafted artworks showcase terribly fearsome and often extreme creativity through many varied mediums in large and expertly curated galleries.
Awesome place and free on Wed after 5pm!
I think it's real pretty. I love going all the time. The kids also love it so much.
Museum has some cool modern art
Good fun, educational, not expensive
Beautiful venue for our Duke President Price reception for about 300 alums!
We were surprised and delighted by this great museum. My husband needed to go for a class, but we both really enjoyed it. They even had a few famous works of art!
Mint is a super cool place. I never went there as a patron but I used to do their IT. The Halal food trailer outside is to die for.
Very interesting museum. I loved my time here. The atrium is occasionally used for weddings. The art is definatley modern, but also very nice. The prices are very interpretive. Please check out the artwork.
