At present this firm has a score of 4.8 out of 5 and that score was based on 114 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings is almost the best, and it's founded on a very large number of reviews, so we can be pretty sure that the evaluation is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to leave their review when they've done well with the business, is that it works.

Kids had a good time
Fun experience for my kid, he was able to feed the chickens and check for eggs.
Very interesting to see and staff were wonderful and very knowledgeable. Got to feed some chickens and to see some cows and horses. One thing that was neat was that we heard about this family at other sites we went to.
not much too do
Absolutely wonderful place to visit
Awesome slice of pioneer life. Loved the garden
Hands on history at its finest. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. A beautiful place to visit, even on a HOT July day! Can't wait to go back in the cooler months.
A beautiful farm with friendly staff dressed in period clothing. Farm animals, games, leisurely talks with the guides, cooking demonstrations and food samples. Something for everyone!
Perfect experience! My daughter loved feeding the chickens and cows :)
Very cool experience for both adults & children! Neat to step back in time to see a simpler way of life. Kids' favorite part was feeding the free range chickens right from their hands. The interpreters were very friendly & knowledgeable. I recommend it to anyone looking for something "different" to do when in town!
So interesting! My family had a great time visiting the farm. The workers were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Don't miss this hidden jewel !
Fantastic place for the whole family.
Hidden gem on the island by far. Great for kids!
Loved it here, dobt expect Williamsburg, but it's nice and the folks there are great!
Great staff/interpreters. I love the hands on feel, not stuffy and don't touch signs everywhere. Fed chickens, tasted apple butter, wonderful place saving precious history!
Great historical location. We go there whenever we can. My Great Grandfather, Capt. Patrick Etheridge was born in this house. They have some really great programs throughout the year. Very educational and fun for the whole family.
Island Farm in Manteo, N.C. is a nice small faming place set in the early 1800's that has history in what life was like back in the 18 century. You get to see how far we came as you walk the lovely growns and the buildings. Worth the visit if you love history in living. Robert Maffitt, Wilmington, NC
Loved it...kids had lots of fun playing on the olde tyme swing and seeing the animals, especially fun feeding the chickens.
Beautiful farm. Staff are courteous, knowledgeable, and entertaining. Great for family or anyone who enjoys a little bit of history and agriculture.
The staff were extremely knowledgeable and we were pleasantly surprised at how hands on everything is. We had a really great time. Fun for both families and adults
What a great place to visit. $8 per person, over 5 years. The employee at the entrance was so patient and happy to give us information, and from there you just jump right in. Collecting chicken eggs, feeding scratch to the chickens, watching or helping in the garden, walking through buildings and houses to explore how people farmed and survived in the late 1800s. All the employees/characters are very knowledgeable and happy to help and talk with you. Don’t miss out on this little gem!
A wonderful site filled with period buildings And exhibits that conveyed a real “lived in” feel. The interpreters were knowledgeable and genuinely welcoming. We felt like we were dropping in on family - in the best way. We plan to recommend to our friends and family; and will certainly return.
We loved the history and learning about life on the Island all those years ago.
Great historical workers, good fun for kids under 13 but its a really short time your actually there.
Could have spent all day here. Kids were able to dress up and play outside. Staff was very informative and enjoyable to hang out with.
Cool little place to kill 2 hours
What a great place to visit while at the Outer Banks. The staff are very knowledgeable and made the trip educational and fun.
The kids loved it. It was a nice change of pace activity. We spent about an hour and a half there exploring. The kids got to dress up, ride an ox pulled wagon ride, feed chickens, gather fresh laid eggs, and explore different buildings. It was worth the trip.
I drive by this place but I have never stopped there but they stay very busy
It really is pretty incredible. Everyone takes things to explain things
Southern history that may surprise you.
Fun and educational for kids. Clean and well keep grounds. Staff was excellent. Thanks Guys.
We had so much fun!! Great place to visit!! Knowledgeable staff/volunteers, wonderful stories about the history of the island, great for kids and adults.
Enjoyed walking around the farm. The reenactors were informative and willing to answer questions, one let my nephew pick carrots from the garden and hold the red hen, named Lucy. We had a good time!
Great learning experience.
I can't believe we didn't do this sooner! The place is beautiful and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly
I visited the outer banks during Easter break. I love going here especially off season. This was my first time visiting Island Farm. It is right near where I stay. It was a nice farm and I went on lamb shearing day. Someone local brought their merino sheep and the sheep was sheared by two gentleman with old fashion shears. I met the loveliest lady that is a wool spinner and hit up a lovely conversation with her. She was more than happy to share her passion/hobby with me. She was fantastic with children allowing them to touch and play. They had baby chicks in a hatchery. It was an all around great experience.
The self guided tour of a pre-Civil War family farm was a fun experience. The workers are in costume but not in character, however they opperate the farm using the methods and tools of the day. When we visited, the ox cart needed repairs and the farm hand showed us the pieces he was fabricating with a replica saw and antique hand drill and drawing knife as well as pieces from the forge on the property. The kitchen maid talked about the food grown in their garden and different ways of preserving and preparing it. All the buildings are open can be explored, including lofts and attics. At this time there are no guided tours available, but there are some special events during the fall season beyond the self-guided tours. No special pricing for children (though kids under 5 are free), elderly, or military, but the $8 entry fee is well worth the price.
Very nice place! People were very interesting and knowledgeable. Explained all in details and even if our kids are french speaking only, they gave us time to translate the explanations. Thanks again
Love this place! My husband and I are on our honeymoon in Nags Head and came across this wonderful place! We felt like we were on the set of Little House on the Prairie! And so much history on this land! Thank you Charlene and her husband, and the lovely Gloria.. And Charlie the ox!! Love, Dave and Amy Koch ❤️
Loved the History... Wonderful Staff
Good staff, good historical recreation
Great place to stop and visit a piece of history. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable, really enjoyed our visit.
Very informative. A good rendition of an old farm.
Fun for all ages
This is a nice place and the people are friendly and we learned a lot, and we're a bunch of 20 year olds. The old games on the yard were a lot of fun, unfortunately due to our trip time constraints we weren't able to get fresh biscuits made over a fire..but we still had a great time. This is a place I enjoyed supporting with my admission, I recommend!
Great family fun. The people giving tours where great with the kids. One of the best places visited on the outer banks.
Great place to take the kids, good experience for them to show what life was before they started carrying their phones around everywhere
Visited with my kids and husband yesterday. The staff were both friendly and knowledgeable. They took the time to interact with our 2 and 5 year old girls while also making sure we got a lot of information about the site. Wagon ride is a must, we got so much information just from that. The girls loved dressing up and helping with farm chores.
Great place...kids will enjoy
An experience every one should do.
Great little farm complete with lots of guides to tell you about living on the farm in the 1800s they were all very friendly and actively engaging guests
We love the Island Farm! Beautiful property and friendly staff!
This is a wonderfull place all should come see when visiting i n Roanoke Island
The crew here really knows their stuff and were so kind in their sharing. Not pushy at all, but very available. I've been to some living history attractions where the cast is maybe a little too deep in character, to the point where they don't really even relate to visitors as modern people. That scenario makes for awkward interaction. I was so relieved to find mine of that at the Farm. A must see for history lovers!
This was one of the most interesting historic tours I have been on in ages! The docents are so knowledgeable and friendly and they seem genuinely interested in the history of the family that owned the Farm. The buildings are well re-constructed and the animals are awesome! The prices are super reasonable. But remember your bug repellent! I was amazed that they are only in their third season and it was so well done, I can't see where they are on our next visit!
This is the best little farm on an island you could possibly see! Don't miss this little jewel tucked away on Roanoke Island.
Amazing staff and only 8 dollars to tour this old farm. It has an 180 year old house on the land. This is such a great place to learn about the past and how different life is from then.
Oh man, that was fun! Got more than a glimpse of what life was like back around 1850. Happily helpful, the staff welcome visitors and give us tons of education. They show us how things are made & how they lived.
We had such a great time exploring this farm. My kids learned a lot about how people loved without plumbing and electricity.
Nice place. So friendly. Kid friendly
This place is a gem. I went today for the first time with my two kids and they and such an incredible experience. The staff are friendly, patient, and so kind. They are always open to answering questions but also give you plenty of space to explore on your own. It’s a kid-friendly environment with games, up-close animals and they can TOUCH ANYTHING! I can’t wait to go back.
Perfect place for a family outing
Best place to go for a educational trip. You learn alot about History and the staff are so kind.Kid Friendly
This was one of our stops on a scavenger hunt, therefore didn't get to stay long. However, got a great overall history lesson in the short amount of time we were there. Very knowledgeable and friendly people! Will make sure we go back for this historical tour!
Loved the experience! Will return for a day visit.
Very interesting and the people working on the farm were super informative!
Staff was excellent. They were engaging, answered all of our questions and it was a nice, quiet jump back in time. It's expensive but it's a non profit and keeps the farm going. Thanks Folks!
A wonderful historical place. You can take your time looking around. We enjoyed feeding chickens right out of our hands.
The people were nicer than nice. And a wonderful woman helped me with not having cash on me to get in at the visitors office. Very interesting to see how it was all done in the 1850s
Lots of fun. Staff is wonderful. Jeb was very knowledgeable and great with the kids
What a great experience. Very informative.
Splendid place to visit. Plan about an hour or so to explore here. The people dressed for the reenactment were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the things they were representing. I loved visiting the kitchen and learning about that. They have a fun old time playground as well with a teeter totter and a swing. This place did a great job of representing life during that time period. Bathrooms available. Cute gift shop with authentic stuff. Credit cards accepted. Good sized parking lot. Visit if you are in the area, it isn't too expensive either!
Great place to go see if interested in local history.
Nice place. The people were great.
