Quite enjoyable experience. I found this place due to chance. I had been over at Pilot Mountain park and saw the sign for Horne Creek while driving back to High Point. The man at the visitor's center really knew his history. The center was very nice with lots of things to see and to purchase. I walked down to the main house and walked around in it. Very enjoyable. I find it fascinating to see older homes such as these. If you are in the area, you should stop in.

The couple who conduct the tours know all that there is too know about this working farm. The main house is welcoming and you can even sit in the furniture and play the parlor organ.

I've been coming here since I was a little girl, and nothing has ever changed! I love the friendly staff and the well maintained historical buildings of long ago. They keep everything neat and in great condition so all different generations can know what it was like to live in the 1800s. The food and entertainment during their festivals is very excellent as well!

Nice historical farm, lots of interesting exhibits (and animals!) Try to go to the cornshucking frolic, a festival held one Saturday in October each year. Vendors, exhibits, great music! The chicken stew is a must have!!

Very nice outing for a couple of hours. Old motors were on display and chugging along. People were eager to share their knowledge. Good eats were on hand after a self guided walking tour. Very sociable group and knowledgeable.

We visited Horne Creek farm for their Arbor Day apple tree sale. It was our first visit. It's a beautiful historical farm with many things to see. The trees sold out early fast. We bought a Myer's Royal Lumbertwig apple tree which is an heirloom from the early 1900's. All of their trees are and they are not anything you would see at Lowes or Walmart. We definitely recommend visiting.

We had a nice visit but there was no one there in the middle of the day and the visitors center was closed. We ran in to some people working and they said they would be right with us to explain the site but we never saw them again.

My husband and I came here about 11 years ago and it was so neat. No one was there there was no tour....that being said. He and I were downstairs in the house goofing around. I had picked up some object can't remember now playing around and heard people moving about upstairs. Quickly I put the object down thinking I would be scolded...we walked through the house not a single soul was there. Yet I just heard numerous footsteps and movement..no one could have left the house without us knowing. Neat place but I feel like much of Stokes County this place is haunted.

The staff director gave us an in depth history and survey of the farm and family as well as the significance of the site. My wife liked the sheep! We roamed the homesite ourselves and found it very interesting to explore and discover.

I loved this place! The tour through the house was very interesting. They didn't have the rooms roped off so we went inside every room and took pictures. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Google Horne Creek for upcoming events!

It’s a pretty place but I do not recommend it to those with young kids. We thought it’d be perfect for our group since it’s outdoors and there are animals, but the woman working there was very rude to us and made us feel unwelcome. Instead of saying hello or welcome- her first words to us were “don’t let them touch anything!” In a stern voice. (No kids had even tried to touch anything and us parents and a grandma were all right there with them). That was when we walked into the home where she was giving a tour to 4-5 older people. (By the way I made arrangements to have a tour for us but I guess since that group got there before us they got first dibs.) then we got reprimanded a 2nd time to not let our kids walk up the stairs which they weren’t, they were going to the bottom stair for a photo. there was nothing there gating it off. then a 3rd time to not let them run over some planks that she said apparently covered a well but even we as adults had no way of knowing that. The only thing blocking it was a tiny string as thin as dental floss. No barrier, no sign. All of this was within about 15 min as we were near her and the tour group. i don’t think she really cared about the kids safety, she just seemed annoyed we were there. Even if she did care for them she should’ve shown it in a much nicer tone especially since she can see were responsible adults watching them. Better signage/barriers would be good on restricted areas. Also there is a dog on property that seemed friendly but then tried to jump on us and the picnic table to get our food. We’re planning to move soon out of state so wouldn’t come back anyway. Disappointing because usually North Carolina people have treated us well.

We attended the corn shucking festival and had a wonderful time with our girl scout troop! Such a fun gem tucked away for us to enjoy!

It was interesting to see how a large family lived. The grounds include a visitor center with photos and artifacts, orchard, barn with a mule and ornery cow, and the family home. The staff were friendly and informative.
