Here we offer you all the feddbacks of real people like you who have information of the services and products of Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site (Museum) in North Carolina.
At present this firm has a rating of 4.7 stars out of 5 and that score was based on 261 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is practically the top, and it is based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the valuation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they are satisfied with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Museum is included in the category of History museum.
Interesting historical information about a revolutionary war town.
I love to bring my family here
Beautiful historic spot. Went for school field trip as a chaperone, stations were set up for the children to learn about stencil art, crime and punishment, and how to make a candle. I believe there was a gift shop of some sort, but it was closed and dark. Large grounds with picnic tables were nice for our bagged lunches. No one talked about the church and cemetery that were on the grounds but there were informative signs.
Fantastic site. I was very surprised at how good it was and the quality of the museum. Mr. McKee, the site manager, and another volunteer were in period costume, gave a great tour, and provided a shooting demonstration. Well worth a visit to this hidden gem.
Wonderful place to visit!
Beautifully situated along the Cape Fear River, the sight of both a colonial town and church, Brunswick Town is also important for its location as Fort Anderson where a battle was fought in the Civil War. The area is scenic, and fun to explore with picnic tables and and a visitors center.
Cool historical site
Friendly informative staff beautiful location great walk!
Pretty cool but kind of weird, too.
Great place to visit
It was so much fun. We were lucky to go when they were do reenactments jobs and life. We will definitely go again the grounds are beautiful to walk around.
Nice service
Great deals on the history very informative
What a hidden gem right in our backyard. I wish we had visited sooner. I think we've found a new weekend hangout.
Really cool place would have given 5 but there was literally a sign in the ladies room stating they were out of paper towels due to budget cuts. These people need funding!!!!!
This was a very interesting and varied location the town was a bit of a Beach Town while the Ford Anderson was rather impressive and not very much spoken of in any history class that I've ever taken it was great to learn about how they set it up what happened there and how they're doing their best to commemorate it and respect it
A must-see for anyone into local history
Interesting artifacts and displays in the visitors center explain the short history of Brunswick Town and of Ft. Anderson which was built on the site during the Civil War. Our favorite — a big ceramic flushing toilet! Who knew such a luxury was available at that time in history? It’s free and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Loved it
Great event today even with the weather.
Cool place to visit, great place to take the kids. Beautiful views of the cape fear river
A neat spot to visit
Interesting.. worth the visit!
So much history here! Great place to visit.
As the archeological digs continue they are still uncovering more buildings. Fascinating place & a great walk with beautiful views
Fabulous place, exciting colonial and civil war history and Spectacular Scenery!
History History History
I walked on their graves by accident
Amazing place! Nice visitor center, friendly staff, great exhibits. Best of all is outside, an old Anglican Church, thick walls, a number of grave stones, but never completed. Wonderful walk around the old town site, which was once prosperous and growing, but supplanted by Wilmington.
Great guided tour by Nick, Jim, Olivia, and Drew!
Better than Fort Fisher
Visited for a homeschool field trip. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The grounds are immaculately kept and clean. The kids loved that two important periods of history were at this one spot. Will return and recommend to others.
This State historical site is a dream. At the town/ fort the history is awesome. The museum at the site is probably the best in the State. Early Spanish, Colonial to Civil War history is yours. The people inside the museum are some of the best you will find working in North Carolina.
A wonderful place to go especially if you love history like we all did we enjoyed it very much there were four of us I would whenever I go back there I will take another group of people
Great history about the area.
2 periods of history at one site!
Webb Paranormal Group visited this aweso.e incredibly interesting historical town and fort. We definitely recommend visiting with family and friends
Wonderful history. Did our own self guiding tour and really enjoyed it all. Very interesting.
Beautiful site. Great museum with a great history lesson.
Beautiful historic features!
You can never go wrong seeing a piece of history.
Great day spent here.
Never knew this was here. Cool church and great history. Also stop by side of road near river to see alligators.
This was a great tour for our three boys (ages 5, 9, & 11). Not too long to wear them out, and occasional shade along the tour path. One tip: start at the church. We went the other way and realized we did the tour backwards! :-) Self-guided walking tour took about an hour. Visitor center interior tour took about the same and featured history of Brunswick Town from Native Americans through modern archaeology.
Still struggling with hurricane damage, but a beautiful site, well worth the visit.
I love historic places. This was interesting, but other than the grave stones and the 18th century house foundations, there wasn't much to see.
Great experience. Very quite spot, only 1 person there besides us. Very informative museum and well maintained ruins scattered thru out the grounds.
Old historical site was very interesting. I wish it stayed open later. It was too hot when we went exploring.
Spotted the sign from the road and decide to make an an planned visit... I am very happy we did! Cute place with lots of interesting history!
Fishing is great
Underappreciated.
A great place to walk and learn. Nicely kept grounds and history museum
A great place to visit and learn more about our state and country.
It tells an important story about the history, traditions and development of the North Carolina coast.
Great place to learn some things a vb out the history of our state.
Interesting history and lovely location! Visitor center with video and artifacts. Good parking, handicap accessible, and restrooms. Worth a visit.
wesome place to visit! If you love history go!
I have been visiting this place since I was a child. I have always loved the beauty and history of it.
Very interesting place and the site of two significant events, central to US history.
Interesting enough-neat artifacts
An excellent on site museum details the various events that have taken place on the grounds of Brunswick. We spent about an hour walking through the ghost town and the remnants of the Civil War fort. The continuing archaeological work is present and happening out in the open for the public to see.
A lot of history. It's a nice walk around the outside and the displays inside provide a lot of information.
Loved it!
Very cool place! I had no idea this much history existed in my home state!
Absolutely Beautiful
Very neat walk but the signs are getting a bit hard to read.
Great field trip for the kids!
I great place to learn about our history!!!
I volunteer there with programs and maintenance. We are always looking for people to help.
Really amazing piece of history so close to home. A definite go see.
Nice walk, and nice views of the river. Requires a lot of imagination to appreciate the history though.
Awesome experience
Closed on Sundays!
Peaceful place to walk.
Such a unique interesting place for History Lovers
Very interesting site. I visit a few times each year, sometimes taking my 2 dachshunds. It appears there is ongoing archeological excavation but the entire walkway is open and the established exhibits still accessible.
Great Historical Site.
I love the history ,the ruined church is so beautiful. The old oaks have Spanish moss. They have civil was reenactments at different times during the year ,and many other things go on there
The drive up to the fort is great for birders. There is also several locations to see alligators. The fort was great to walk around well
Neat little museum in addition to home sites
Rich in history..
I love history!!
Very interesting site with lots of history. A great way to take a little break from the beach.
Amazing pre American history. Beautiful area of land with great settlements.
I liked the history it was informative. Great place to take a walk around on the sidewalks. Nice view of the river. I think it needs cleaned up a bit. Seemed a little dirty. The restrooms need a little work as well.
Beautiful , with a small Museum
A treasure trove of history!
Great place, interesting. Nice free museum. The church ruins are the best. Was married here.
Great place
Fascinating historic site that is set in a rather remote area. Nice self tour map available, and the historic grounds are well maintained. My family learned a lot while visiting here. The mound area where battles took place is very creepy (haunted??) & the signs to watch out for snakes and gators was a bit alarming.
Interesting historical site that is off-the-beaten path, meaning minimal crowds in a lovely area with nice trails.
An interesting view into the past! The staff here are knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to answer questions.
Find
Nice place
Beautiful area, small museums.
Beautiful views of the river, interesting history lessons, people dressed in historical clothes, friendly staff. Had a very enjoyable day!
Awesome place lots of history the tour guides are great give you lots of info.very passionate about place
So beautiful...Wonderful walking path...Good museum.
One of the best hidden secrets in the Wilmington/Southport area. We learned a lot and got a chance to talk to actual archaeologists digging at the site when we were there. A must visit!
History
Very quiet historical site along the banks of the Cape Fear River. Well worth the visit just to enjoy the views and tranquillity. Lots of history here, not just civil war.
The staff is very knowledgeable and the short museum quite informative. They recommend you watch the fifteen minute video before taking your first tour and I'm so glad I took that recommendation. It definitely helps give you a feel for how the grounds looked before they were mostly excavated foundations. The highlight for me was the walk. The views of the river along that end of the walking path are beautiful and the walk was long enough for my twins to fall asleep in their stroller. Win/Win!
Fantastic time will definitely be back
Went during a Christmas special event and look forward to returning to see all that we missed.
Enjoyed the history but main building was being repaired from hurricane florence. Beautiful location though
A beautiful walk near and along the Cape Fear River. A great historical place all free and very interesting.
We came upon this stop on a drive and thought this place was amazing. What an important piece of American history. Loved the stunning river views and the museum was excellent. Saw a large gator in the pond on the way in too! This is a great stop.
Lots of history; from the early founding of Brunswick, an attack by the Spaniards in the late 1740's, another attack by a British squadron in 1776 that destroyed the town, and the building of Ft. Anderson on the ruins of Brunswick in the early 1860's. The museum has an introductory video on the history plus a fine exhibit of artifacts found on the grounds. Well worth the visit.
Interesting exhibits, easy walk through mounds/sites
Awesome historical site of AMERICA
Really neat history lesson!
Awesome
We didn't go in the information center, but we enjoyed driving around and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Beautiful trees and views of the river!
Love the History great to visit
Great area and museum to check out! Certainly stop in and take a look if you are in the area. There is no fee to enter the museum. There are a couple of historic sites here with a wealth of information about them.
This is a quaint little historical site. It is a small museum, remnants of old buildings, and the shell of an old church perfect for photos. While out on the walking trail, we spotted an archaeological dig. As we walked closer, we were invited to come check it out and given a personal tour by the woman in charge.
Like a walk into the past So many people do not know of this hidden gem pass it on please
Very interesting for historians
Beautiful state park filled with history dating back to the revolutionary war. Bring a piknic, let the kids run the grounds, lots of Oak trees for shade.
Great history of America's Revolutionary and Civil Wars
Lovely walk and information.
The fifth most visited historic site in North Carolina. Great museum explaining the story of Brunswick town and Fort Anderson. The remains of the town and Fort can be seen as you walk through the well-maintained lawns and woodland settings. An expansive wooden deck provides a wonderful view of the Cape Fear River, the highway for commerce that served the town when it existed.
Another favorite vacation stop! The boardwalk by the river is wonderful as you stroll through some of our country's most important eras. The exterior walls of St. Phillips church, a pre-Revolutionary structure, are still standing with marks from both the Revolutionary War, as well as the Civil War. It is interesting to consider what these walls have witnessed. The staff at the site are wonderful and the museum is a perfect size and very well curated.
Great historical place with old home structures and friendly staff
Great place to spend a few hours. Lots of history, nice little museum as well
Great museum and outdoor area. You can walk around to check out historical sites.
Awesome history!!
Great place to visit and to step back in American history.
Very good info and good walk to.
wonderful experience going to this place. Highly recommended.
A little off the beaten track but well worth the visit for American history buffs. Brunswick played an important roll in early American sea trade, but a variety of natural and man made disasters sealed its fate. A century later, Confederate forces used the same area to protect the Port of Wilmington, N.C from Union invaders.
What a great place to visit and see the history of the Cape Fear region right before your eyes.
Wonderful out of the way location with LOTS history
Awesome place! Lots of interesting history. Hosts activities for kids regularly.
Love this place it's a great place to have quiet time
Quiet historic location, small museum explains the history of the area. Clean restrooms. Easy walking trail to see historic markers/sites.
Hey Civil War Historic Site is walking Bass, handicapped and friends, and demonstrations throughout the year.
Awesome part of History.
Had an enjoyable visit recently. The exhibit hall of nicely renovated which covers the history of the area from the Native Americans through the Civil War. There were many artifacts with excellent descriptions. Aside from the exhibit hall, most of the site is outside. The remains of the church were beautiful and well marked with artistic renderings of what it would have looked like and also details of the citizens buried on the church grounds. Some feedback I would offer is some signage to indicate that part of the walking path is closed. We thought we could walk all the way around the perimeter of the fort but after getting 3/4 of the way around there was yellow tape and we had to turn around. In the middle of summer this was a bummer.
I had a blast! I love history and currently in US History class at UNCW. Our instructor brought us here and gave us a personal tour. He knows some of the staff and people apart of the renditions and it made the experience that much better. I love learning local history and history in which I can go out and be apart of the experience. Also, the flag inside was just a neat piece to see and hear about how it shaped the civil war. Which is also cool, that there are two parts of history in one site, Civil War and Revolutionary War eras. If you love history, you should definitely check it out!
Great stop in our travels. Self guided
Hidden gem of colonial and civil war history I have been by hounded of times but never stopped who would have thought the first flushing toilet in nc would be located here
Very nice and peaceful place to visit. On your drive to it, you can see alligators on the side of the road in the lake.
If you need an adventure with the kids, take time to visit this historic site. You will not be disappointed. On my visit there was volunteers dressed in costumes. They were very eager to share information about life during colonial times in North Carolina. Exploring the site gave our group an opportunity to have lively conversations about the housing needs, food sources and the resourcefulness of early settlers. The museum was enjoyable as well.
Attend a wedding, it was beautiful!!!
Relaxing, peaceful and interesting historic site
Loved the Town Square
