Honestly I recommend to save your 8 dollars and go walk around downtown. The shops and boutiques have more art then this place. Really disappointed that my hometown, that's known to be artistic. Has such a weak museum where the only exhibit worth looking at is the high school, elementary school section. You spend more time wandering around trying to find an actual exhibit. Then you do looking at the 5 or 8 pieces of art. VHD

There is nothing here. There were only 4 or five seperate rooms, each with less than 10 displays. It is $8 a person to look at 30 paintings, and a number of them were elementary self portraits done on wood. It was exactly what you would imagine looking at all the works an elementary school art teacher has left over at the end of the year. Also, the employees were terrible. They just sat in chairs and stared at people going by when they weren't texting. I walked around with my mom and it took us maybe 10-15 minutes to see everything and another 10 or so to back track to try and find a room we missed. I have friends with more extensive galleries than this one. It was literally less decorated than an average house lol

We booked the loft space for a business meeting during the week. The space itself is lovely. The room is industrial style with large windows overlooking downtown, and an abundance of natural light. The space was also well equipped with tables and chairs and a TV to connect to for presentations. Unfortunately due to the style of the room, there was quite a bit of noise from construction on the floor below throughout our meeting. However, shortly after we left from the meeting, the center called and offered to refund the rental fee for the day due to the unexpected noise and inconvenience. Because of their exceptional customer service, I would not hesitate to book another meeting...I just might check to be sure no construction would take place the same day.

I attended a lecture about Zelda Fitzgerald. It was wonderful! It lasted close to an hour and I easily could have listened to more. The presenter was well-prepared and knew his subject matter. He had a slide presentation that was good. There was a lively question and answer session after the talk. I will look forward to attending another event.

Pretty good selection of modern art

They had some really neat exhibits and separate rooms, but as a whole, it was a bit lacking. I expected a lot more, especially from a city as art-centric as Asheville. Still cool to walk through, but not as much to see as I desired.

The new Asheville Art Musuem, opening summer 2019, is going to be gorgeous!!

I feel the museum has a interesting and varied permanent collection and does a great job bringing interesting temporary exhibits. I like that the collection is only American artists and find it interesting and educational to be exposed to artists within the United States, past and present. I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. I went to the most recent exhibit Rebel's with a Cause, American Women artists...what a wonderful collection of work !

Totally disappointed in the selection chosen to keep people's interest. I hope the original location is better once construction is complete.

Very cool art museum

Staff was fabulous.

Andrew Ilardi

90% of the art is done by high schoolers who aren't very good. The poor art is complemented by it's small size. Wait till the real museum opens up again.

Will Darling

Loved working here interesting events and exhibits.

Awesome gallery

Mariah McClendon

A little disappointing.. entrance was free, there were 2-3 pieces of art worth seeing but very small exhibit. This is temporary until their main building is finished. (Half of this just had info about the construction of the new place)

Where to begin? The Asheville Art Museum is very...mediocre. While visiting today, the "free" first floor is nothing but construction and a few very "meh" pieces. I understand they are in the process of hanging an installation but my goodness, at least have more to look at on the first floor! When asking about the "Earth and Science" museum, we were given rude responses from the art museum receptionist. We gave up on the art museum and headed down to the "Earth and Science" section. At least those gals were friendly! There wasn't too much to look at down there, sadly. Most of their displays were out of date and not very interactive. I also understand that one of their exhibits was broken into and stolen but still, aside from the stolen display, it was a very lackluster experience. I did however purchase a nifty ring. Overall, I would rate the art museum a 1/5 and the "Earth and Science" a 3/5. For such high and mighty folks, you'd think the art gallery would like more professional. I've seen college galleries ran by college student look more professional. Step it up, guys!

Don't do it!!! For a town famous for its artists, this museum was a tremendous disappointment. 'Ho-hum' describes its best moments well. I think they need to rethink their curation to reflect the local artist community making it more relevant to the area, and therefore unique, instead of offering one more stuffy gallery of art that you can see in anytown USA.

It was amazing! As a student, I got to learn more about the artists I love! It was an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend it to other students or teachers!
