Family took a trip into the city to get some culture. We decided to visit MoMa and had a great time. It was a little crowded but, it was still worth the trip. One of the best collection of art around.

Nikita Rao

Love this place! If I lived in NY, I would get a year-round membership. They have so many famous works of art and opportunities to learn more about them. Loved the design exhibition that was on.

Ilaria Azzarà

Selected pieces worth seeing. A few are spectacular, like the Pollock's and Van Gogh's but the rest is nothing special. Worth going there on the free Friday evening but otherwise not.

Jackie Hargat

Amazing! Loved it! A must see.

Fabio Arturo Espejo Feliz

Had the experience is incomparable. so much to watch and appreciates

Jeffrey Yang

A private tour after hours is a great way to experience the gallery. Our group was rather large (more than 10) and moved at a leisurely pace through some impressionist, cubist, and abstract highlights.

Youri V

Loved it! They have so much to show, and it will even be better in October when they're done with the renovations. Would certainly go there again.

Kathy P

The MOMA is a smaller museum but with wonderful displays of art. The museum is great for both quick stops (which unfortunately we had to make) and a day of discovery. They will be closing for a few months with plans to expand. I hope to visit again in the fall when they open again.

Juan M Ortiz

Another mandatory stop in NYC. It has a lot of masterpieces and a really cool store. Really impressed with the pieces of Picasso, Van Gogh, etc, etc, etc.......

Adam Strzelecki

I hope we were just unlucky as due to the rainy day at it was extremely crowded. Half of the expositions (floors) were closed. Yes there were quiet a few famous pieces but you could barely see or experience anything due to the crowd. The Met was so much better - 3 day ticket, far more space and art, less crowd.

Lauren Skelly Bailey

Love MoMA. I got to visit some old favorites like the water lilies or Starry Night. But something else will always pick up my attention too. Good cafes, shops and art. Leave your phone in your bag and enjoy something for what it is.

Frank Davis

The redesign adds so much more space & brilliantly expands the collection. Plan to spend a day getting through everything.

Antonio GARCIA ROMAN

Beautiful place with some iconic pieces of art. Sometimes a lot of (noise) people. I recommend to lunch / take a coffee at any of their restaurants.

Phil Smithback

Surprisingly average curation from such a good collection.

Sybille Guler

Moma is such an amazing place to enjoy different kind of art. Between strolling around i have certainly fallen in love more than twice. I also found art from Neri Oxman, the famous woman of 3D print. I have also got a picture with the famous Starry night, come early and go up to Place 522, later there are to much crowds around.

Madhura Naik

A dream come true for a Monet and Van Gogh- obsessed art fan like me. Couldn't get enough of this place!Worth spending a whole day looking at some of their classic and modern pieces. Lovely location too with some pretty cafes around. The museum shop is sure to grab your attention and there's a lot of interesting stuff including but not limited to books, coffee mugs, poster prints, lamps and other art elements to choose from.Unmissable visit when you're in NYC.

Tiffany Lew

The newly renovated MoMA is everything. My friend and I spent about 2 hours in there but I could have easily spent 4 hours. A lot to see and the new layout was very easy to navigate. Don’t forget to check out the gift shop!

Eugena Youm

I've went here during 2017, and they were very rude, the structure outside the museum was very crowded, and the guards did ABSOLUTELY nothing. You are not able to touch any art in any form at all. I can give this 0 stars if I could!1(≧艸≦*)

Bryce

This museum is awesome. There are so many awesome things to see here. This is definitely "modern art". The student discount is awesome here. I've been twice and still have so much to see there. Try to go during the free UNIQLO nights!

mark carmody

Loved it wish I had a hole day just to spend there looking around

Phillip Gill

This was a rather impressive museum even though much of the art is not art I typically enjoy. They have a great room highlighting Monet and seeing "The Starry Night" was quite great. The museum building is nice but undergoing some major renovations. The exhibits are spread across five levels, there are escalators and elevators for use. Overall this was a neat museum with some special pieces. It is definitely worth the visit.

Armon Rouhani

Really interesting, and lots to see if you're an art lover -- some items which one needs to really appreciate art to understand, so I for one don't. Their art pieces are definitely worth seeing, but check to make sure the art you're interested in seeing is being exhibited, as they do rotate them around and do lend out art. Overall, worth seeing if you're in NYC.

Liam Burford

Even the museum is a work of art. Beautifully laid out with some work from the masters alongside some lesser known albeit excellent American works. Real passion in this museum. It moved me and many others to tears. Bit difficult to find. Look for the stand alone pyramidish sort of style building swamped by the main museum of art. Well, well worth seeking out. Search for all the towers! Kudos to the staff.

Jaymes Baker

If you are visiting NYC you have to stop here. Breathtaking art, interesting architecture that accommodates a large crowd across several floors. The gift shops are really neat too, I don't find myself visiting them much but I am glad I did. Also the area around the building is prime real estate for things to do.

Yolanda White

First time visiting and I'm a New Yorker go figure. We never enjoy our own city. I enjoyed it.

Jack C

The impressionists' works, such as Monet, should strike a chord with many. There are however many other works that will leave you scratching your heads. But then, this is a museum dedicated to modern art.

Duane Camitsch

Starry Night, yes they got it. See it, then see the other 99.9% of cool works they have there. It may be a good idea to use the map/guide to plan your time there. There is so much to see, you'll feel overwhelmed if you're not careful. Take breaks and watch the people from all over this world be amazed by great art from all over this tiny blue marble. Must see for all ages, cultures, political stripes. Be amazed.

CoCo Ong

Amazing collection of the works everyone knows about. Just wish there were more! Also, some artworks mentioned on its website we're nowhere to be found in the galleries. Was pretty disappointed.

Yeliz Chen

Special exhibition was awesome and splendid. Here you can explore painting, sculpture, good design, and installation art. Especially plz must not miss design shop, or you will miss a lot of interesting items.

daniel georges

I had great expectations for what would have been my third visit there. Alas, the museum was closed until October 21, 2019! As much as I understand the need for refurbishment, how can they choose summer, the time of the year when tourists are traveling, to do it? On top of it, lack of advertising of this led me to discover it just when arriving a few yards from the door. Therefore, I spent 1 day stop over and $ 300 hotel and taxi to and fro JFK for nothing. MoMA, and consequently NYC, you’ve lost my patronage for ever.

Kristin Mikie Sword

One of my favorite places in the city. It’s historic, and a must visit whether a tourist or a local (multiple visits if you’re in the area). There is so much to see, it can feel a bit overwhelming. If it’s your first time, highly suggest doing a little research and figuring out your “route” through, as it is quite big and there is much to see. If you live in the city and head up that way even 4 times a year, I highly suggest a membership. Also, the rotating exhibits are usually great.

Greta Chiu

Fabulous! It was crowded (Thurs afternoon) but not at all unmanageable. Could still grab spots to enjoy pieces of Monet . Lovely

Elise M

Love this museum! I’ve been twice and was very impressed both times. Student tickets were $12 and I was able to purchase online and walk right into the museum when I got there (Friday around opening time). There’s a great coat/bag check system as well as a cafe inside. Cool gift shops both inside the museum and across the street.

Joan Maloney

I love MoMA because it has my favorite art wonderfully displayed. The Joan Miro exhibit was awesome with a broad representation of his works from studies, sketches, etchings, chalk drawings, paintings, and his wonderful sculptures/collages/assemblages. Only thing missing was a textile like that fabulous " rug" in the East Wing of the National Gallery. I had occasion to speak to at least 6 staff and everyone was polite, friendly and helpful! Thank you, MoMA. See you in October.

Andrea Oyuela

No words for this amazing place. Definitely some of the top exhibitions and curating in the world. If you have just one afternoon to visit, definitely recommend to maximize your time there by picking one exhibition and just soak it in.

Sam Peters

The collection is amazing. I would recommend the Museum of Modern Art for people who are extremely into art and those who have never seen a painting in their lives. It's (of course) modern and would appeal to old and young audiences. It's variety is also so great that no matter what kind of art you'd be into, you'd enjoy going! Although we went before the new renovations were complete, it is clear that it will be even better when it is expanded and new art is displayed. Bring your whole family and friends, the cheap entry price is well worth it!

Kruger de Klerk

Love MoMa! So special to be able to see world famous pieces in person. Might’ve shed a tear or two when I saw some of the more famous works. The museum itself is quite interesting as well. Well maintained.

Kathy Schulte

Wish I had more time 2 wonder ♡ great space

Teagan Meza

Came here on a date and had a great time. They had some beautiful exhibits and the staff were very knowledgeable about all of it. This is a must see no doubt.

Tyler Evans

Best permanent collection of modern art in NYC. You can't not visit this museum.

A L

Having a mild interest in fine art, it was interesting to browse throughout the dozens of rooms with hundreds if not more pieces and installations. To me, the installations far exceeded hung pieces. However, the building is quite packed, which detracts a lot from the experience. Taking any kind of larger personal item with you including bags and coats is prohibited, so you'll need to check these items in to retrieve them back upon leaving. While I understand the importance of this precaution, it only adds another step to waiting around. If memory serves, entrance fee for adults is $35 normally, which, if I'm completely transparent, is not worth the experience. Had I not visited with a local educator of an art establishment partnered with the MOMA which netted myself a $5 ticket charge, I would have opted to skip on this visit. I do recognize the importance and interest in what is being offered, but touring through for an hour or so to view only a handful of engaging pieces doesn't validate the standard admission price--and especially so when you can't interact with each piece very well due to crowds.

Enrico Mura

Simply the best of the world's art..

Sonya Wolmar

Your water fountains suck (4th floor I believe). They are not even trying to be more earth-friendly.

Roman Vogdt

Just a different kind of museum experience. Made for those who love as well as those who want to get introduced to art. Just beautiful.

Bridget Coolick

Museum full of wonderful works of art and friendly helpful staff. Completely beautiful and a great way to spend time in NYC. The chocolate chip cookies at the coffee bar are to die for!!!

Kyle Weber

I went since it re-opened for their free Friday promotion. The line was absurdly long and the museum was crowded, but the collection is astonishing and I really love the way they set up the collection to link items thematically rather than by time period. There's not much else to say -- it's one of the best art museums in the United States. If you are on the fence, just go on Friday evening and leave if it doesn't interest you.

Darrell Fisher

Don’t get me wrong, this is a great museum. But they have put all the very famous artists’ work on floor 5 (Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso) and you can barely walk on that floor there are so many people. We were told to wait to go up to that floor because it was at full capacity. The art is very nice, though. And they have a nice style variation. Just a few spacing problems, that is all!

Sue Spolan

Always a pleasure to visit this museum. Great temporary and permanent exhibits. I prefer this to just about every other museum in the city. Sculpture garden is fantastic for chilling and people watching.

Farah Val.

I myself don't know much about art, but wow l, going there gave me so much more insight into the world of art. It is a beautiful and clean museum with so many different types of art. Have kids? No problem, there are fun activities for them to do. The overall place is incredible and if you are visiting NYC as a tourist, this is a stop that SHOULD DEFINITELY be on your to do list.

David Noble

It’s a nice space, the lighting is good, the artwork is fine - all the big names are here. But MoMA is missing something - call it a grand narrative? a sense of purpose? It’s hard to feel that this isn’t just a collection of mercenary art for the hordes to consume. Or maybe I should say for the peanut-crunching masses to imbibe? Most of the art barely touches the sides. With growing infuriation, I watched as the illiterati crowded to see masterpieces, take a photo and then walk away. If MoMA wants to be recognised with the best worldwide galleries, they need to ban photography.

Leonardo Torres

This is good place to go if one is into art.

Naomi Macleod

Really enjoyable experience overall, even with the works going on at present. Was magical to see my favourite pieces by Magritte, Monet and Mondrian all under the one roof. Was a lot busier than I was expecting for a Friday evening. I'm sure this goes without saying: definitely worth a visit!

Corey R

I went here in 2009 the first time and my how it has changed. At least triple the size and so many new artists show . What I loved about my trip today was that they really showed up with more artists of color and female artists. It’s about time! I also saw my favorite painter represented and that just brought tears to my eyes. Thank you MOMA for making such a spectacular, iconic city spot for literally the entire world to admire art. Super busy, if you don’t like crowds I would not recommend this place. It’s extremely accessible but beware the amount of bumping into other people you will encounter. Not everyone knows how to walk appropriately. Also at this time in fashion trends, chunky black boots and flared capris seem to be all the rage. So yes the art on the wall is amazing but the rich artistry of the museum-goers is worth admiring as well.

Gabriele Drago

Amazing art collection in an outstanding location in the center of NY. Super cheap if you consider the beauty of it. There’s a fantastic cafeteria with a cool view at the top.

Matilda Porter

Beautiful museum with several floors of art. Be sure that you like modern art before going as art us subjective and modern art isn't for everyone. Paying at the kiosk was fast an easy. You're allowed to take photos without a flash. Enjoy!

Jeff Panaka

I came in 45 minutes before they closed and took a sprint through the museum. Next time I am here I'm going to devote the museum at least half a day. Anticipating a return. 5/5.

Angie Bailey

Great museum. We have been before and always amazed at the art. It never gets old and I'm always in awe every time we visit. Their courtyard is also beautiful, sometimes people have meetings and other gatherings there. Pretty neat. They are in the works for expanding the museum and I can't wait to go back and see the new additions.

Ny Ny Nguyễn Phạm

Well organized museum; which made it easy to go through all galleries. Their creativity room is pretty cool, esp for kids. Nice museum stores. There are paintings of Van Gogh, Monet and Klimt...

Kamil Kambar

One of the greatest perks of living in NYC is definitely for the existence of MoMA. I just absolutely love this museum and I honestly lost count of how many times I’ve visited this place. Apart from The Met or Guggenheim... I’d honestly never get tired of looking at Pollock’s One: #31, along with his many other masterpieces. Highly recommended for everyone, either for those already living in NYC who’ve never been or the tourists touring this amazing city of ours.

Vadim Moseitsuk

Absolutely loved it! Great collection and building. We went during the admission free time on Friday after 16:00 and it was very very crowded. Note, that if you want to visit the museum in a peaceful and relaxing manner - go there other time. As during the admission free time crowd literary flows through the museum like a human-river. But for us, it was quite a new experience. Highly recommended!

Bruno Fischetti

Great place to go if you like modern art. There are a few well known paintings and pieces of art as well for those who are only interested in that. I would suggest to go there on a Friday afternoon because it is free. Otherwise the entrance goes from $14 to $25.

Eric Sharp

I was in NYC for 2 days. I was lucky enough to spend an hour and a half here. Jackson Pollack was the highlight for me. Just amazing

Eric Fu

All time favorite! I may recommend go from the top first, so you can enjoy the modern arts development and all great stunning world known master piece. Small tip: if you come to New York on Friday, you can get free admission around 4 for Uniqlo sponsor Ed Friday night events. The line is pretty long and I would recommend go there half an hour in advance.

Marn-Yee Lee

We went on a Fri morning and it was pretty crowded. The staff is amazingly helpful, at ticketing, and through out the museum. Many different rooms that adults will enjoy, but it was a bit hard for sensory sensitive kids. Loved seeing many well known pieces, as well as learning new info on the well written info signs. The museum store is a treat in and of itself. We spent a lot of time here.

Jeremy Lynch

Well organized, spotless, well laid out museum. Make fun pieces to check out with frequent rotating exhibits, and it's free after 5 on Fridays (although it gets incredibly busy). Definitely worth a trip, especially if you want to see a few famous art pieces.

Jamie B

Very disappointed with the collection...garbage called art. The building renovation was very nice. I think MOMA spent more money on the stores' selection than the museums" collection. There are so many other note worthy artists out there that deserve to be seen by the public.

Peter Molnar

Wishi to be able to come more often; highly recommend....

Joe

This place is really beautiful, being able to see start night and a whole host of Picasso and dolly works really made me and my girlfriend happy. Everything is so much more beautiful in real life.

Ian Finn

Great works of art from Van Gogh, Matisse etc. Amazing place.

David Whitney

If time keeps moving how is the Art still modern?

Richard Brafford

Overrated antiquated artistic achievements from the 20th century taking the dachampion idea to its absolute limits Marcel Duchamp is rolling over in his grave.

Anna Kuczynska

Fantastic venue. Amazing collection. Wish I had more time.

Paraskevi Kalpini

I would not recommend going if you aren't interested in Art, it's not going to change your mind. But for those who cherish art it must be a great place to go. I'm giving 5 because everybody was nice and I don't know what criteria I have to consider because I am one of the people who weren't excited about it.

Robyn Homeniuk

I recommend a minimum of two hours to see the current collection, longer once the new area opens I'm sure. I've been to art museums across the world, and this gives a taste of what it's like. I loved the collection, but it was less than I expected as a few exhibits were closed. In comparison to London's Tate Modern, MoMA has a similar yet but upscale vibe about. Definitely recommend coming if you're a fan of modern classics, but check what exhibits are happening in NYC first if you're short on time and have more specific tastes.

Christoforos Aivazidis

One of the best museums I ever visited in my life. Even if you don't like the modern art you should definitely visit this museum. You will see some of the best masterpieces of the world. I really really liked the MoMA. I enjoyed the paintings of Picasso and Dali but there are so much more to see.

Paul Brock

This is a great museum, The new exhibits rotate in an hour every few months, but they're always so interesting. Everything is laid out cohesively and it is very spacious, there's still a lot of room to walk around even when it's very crowded. They usually have 5 to 6 people manning the coach check so there's not much of a wait. The audio guides are free here, which is a huge plus. There's not a ton of interactive activities, there's maybe one or two in the whole building, but that's fine, the museum keeps a sleek and professional appearance.

Debora Levi

Best museum in town, great art , superb architecture , wonderful programs

Vasiliy Korchagin

Awesome museum with lots of famous paintings. No bags or water is allowed inside, need to give it up to the cloakroom, using your phone number as a cloakroom ticket. "The Starry Night" by van Gogh is very popular, there is usually a huge crowd around it and museum staff doesn't allow to stay too close to the painting. If you want to get a better look, come early, around opening time.

Florida Rusty

Went thru MOMA in late summer 2016, the exhibits were good and interesting. It has has a wonderful collection of Pollack's. MOMA is a must see in NYC.

Calum M

I enjoyed it, probably will be better when it's finished in October. Very busy but it was raining outside, seeing starry night was gross with everyone around you but that's no surprise. The contempary art bit was very good.

Hsin-Yi Lee

I went on a Monday and it was a bit less crowded than weekends. Definitely buy your ticket at the kiosk outside to avoid lines! Amazing artworks.

Lucais Horsley

The new expansion of the museum is astonishingly good. The galleries have been completely reorganized, with less emphasis on chronology and more focus on themes and artistic relationships that helps you see even familiar works in a new light. The expansion lets the museum show rarely seen works from what likely is the world's greatest collection of modern art. Even if you've been there before, go again - it's a completely new experience.

Benoît ROUSSEAU

Visiting the new moms has been a great time even if overcrowded. Some of the paintings are world famous and the museum give a wounderful overview of contemporary art and art history. A must do in New York !

J Short

The collection here is incredible and every corner you turn is another remarkable work of art. The museum itself is beautiful, but surprisingly unremarkable. They do have a small corner in the education building for children called the Art Lab. It’s small and can fill up quickly. It would be great to have a better family experience, but still MoMA is a most visit for anyone who loves arts.

Luis Hernández

It’s a great museum full of.. as it appears on the name, modern art. And it contains more that modern art, as canvases from artists in the Pat appear also. Every space is different and there’s something unique about that, every space is beautiful and so big at all. Love also the garden in the lobby

Amy mon

Wayyyyyyy too crowded!!! Should have time spaces. Also, says that there is only one coffee bar the 'espresso bar' however in the terrace cafe there is also coffee when me and my friend took almost an hour in queue to get coffee at the coffee bar. The map is extremely confusing and incorrect, the staff didn't even know how to get around. We were given 3 different directions to the 1 same place!!!

Michael W

Amazing museum of art! I loved it.

Luke Corcoran

Super. Really really enjoyed it. A really well designed and bright museum. Has a great collection of paintings and sculpture. We arrived just as it opened and had a really unhurried visit. Would recommend that to avoid the crowds

Carl T

Massively overcrowded, especially with bored kids. Don't expect to spend much time in quiet contemplation or to have much personal space. The exhibits are sparse and too much wall is given to 'artists' who were basically just phoning it in. The layout is unclear but there is supposed to be an order to the exhibits so ask the staff. I spent about 3 hours all told but that included a recharge stop at the cafe (great view) and exploring the shop (probably my favorite part). I'm unlikely to return but there are lots of other great museums in New York so no great loss.

Alessandro Spagnoli

Must see - beautiful and unique collection of modern art. It was just a pity as 2 floor were close to public visit due to renovation. Definitelty recommended

D.K. Wang

Impressive renovation. Just a bit crowded, but that’s okay.

Rob Hough

Thoroughly enjoyable experience, and it will get even better when they finish their expansion in October. Went on a very busy, rainy day, which meant half the world was there, making it rather crowded. The crowds made it difficult to enjoy some of the areas, as not a lot of people really appear to be interested in the art - this means you with the carriages full of little kids! If you are, the exhibits are excellent, especially the main installations.

Sarah Bernhardt

Great place for all interest in modern art! Others should stay away, you can also get selfies somewhere else!

Michael Andrews

My first visit since the renovation. Always a favorite stop when I'm in the city.

Nicholas Dacchille

Everyone should visit this museum. A wonderful place to spend the day.

David Cantú Martínez

Pretty good for the price (14 $ Usd for students). It is very big and has a lot of art exhibitions, I was looking to see some Basquiat art and I was pleased with some of the exhibits, one of my favorite one was the paintings from Van Gogh. Also on Fridays at 5:30 pm you can enter free.

Amanda Cassa

Even though the muesum had two level temporarily closed when I was there it was a stellar muesum. The crowd felt like it was controlled and flowing, the exhibits were very cool even some where interactive. The bathrooms we're clean and the line for tickets wasn't bad. I did not eat here on this trip but I had the year before and the food was exceptional and the tables like a lunch room style. Overall excellent atmosphere and environment.

Diamond Rose

Such a nice collection of modern art, including Picasso, Matisse, Pollock, Dali, Monet and Van Gough. This place is definitely worth the visit. Plan on a couple of hours at least. In June 2019 they will temporarily close for an expansion. They will reopen October 2019 with an additional 31,000 square feet of museum! So glad we visited.

Jessie Atwell

My family and I took a trip here in early 2019 for my mother’s birthday. She’s always wanted to go and I can happily say that we all left absolutely amazed by how beautiful everything is. We had such an great time that we’re planning another trip at the end of the year so we can see the new additions. The crowds can be a bit much but the art is worth it.

Elke Tomašič

Great place for art but just too crowded and confusing. They supposedly check all bags and don't allow water bottles inside... but it all depends on your luck. Some come through, the others don't. I ended up having to throw my water bottle away while another woman just passed the security with a bottle and nobody said a thing. Oh well.

Ryan Spotowski

The museum has a wide variety of art and it laid out in a very approachable way. Even if you never studied art, you will appreciate and learn about the works and perhaps recognize a few familiar works. The Brancusi sculpture gallery is my favorite and I could spend hours in there. There is a free night, but it is very busy and you may have a difficult time viewing the works. There's also a small gallery next to the industrial design exhibits where you can play with different designs and sit in some classic chairs, including a Eames Le Chaise

bob sanders

The museum of modern art has some of the best artwork I’ve seen. The MoMa has some of the internationally famous paintings and artwork that in which are widely known today. This museum also has a great variety of items in its stores not only does the museum store have great items the design stores as well being some of the best places to buy great gifts for others and items for yourself

Jonás Porcar Ferrer

My favorite NYC museum, full stop. Fantastic collections to enjoy not only the greatest painters of the last century and a half (Picasso, Dali, Miro, Matisse, Klee, Kandinsky, Van Gogh...) and many of their most well known creations, but also to admire other forms not art such as object design or art based on technology. It usually gets really crowded, try to get there early in the morning. Tickets can be bought online to skip lines.

Patrina Huff

Centrally located. Visited often during on and off peak times. Great facility and great exhibits. Also has a nice restaurant that is good for daytime or evening meetups.

florent K

We have visited the museum of modern art during free Friday which are sponsored by a famous Japanese brand. The museum is then free during late afternoon. It is recommended to arrive between half an hour and an hour before free tickets in order to avoid the crowd. Then go directly to the last floor for temporary painting after having taken audio guides. More information via the audio guide would have been appreciated for this type of art.

Bethany Kindsvogel

Had a great time what a lovely place got to see so many lovely things.

Izzy Mazz

I love this museum. The art is amazing and always new and exciting. The museum is beautifully laid out with high ceilings, tall windows, and a fantastic and relaxing courtyard full of statues and plants. I could spend hours here looking at all the art.

amy chlumsky-skelton

Of course I loved it, and can’t wait to get back. I also am excited to visit when the renovations are finished. There is so much iconic art here. Make sure you see Christina’s World and the Francis Bacon! I got there on the last day of the Charles White retrospective and I feel lucky I experienced it. What a body of work! Next time I’ll see Starry Night, because my kid made me promise to wait till she could go..

Names are Overrated

I frequent here often, every time they open up a new exhibit, and every time I'm always so happy. The staff is always kind and helpful, the artwork always beautiful. (Great date spot btw!)

Leo Urrutia

Seeing all the 'classic' art with my own eyes, I never thought they would move me that way. These familiar artworks which I have only seen in books and slides in class lectures were breathtaking to me!

Raja Johnpulle

Overall, the Museum of Modern Art was a very underwhelming experience. Although it is a fairly large museum with an adequate variety, the museum does not have any interesting pieces that would equate to the $25 admission fee. Perhaps I went on a day when there was no special exhibitions however, nonetheless, I do not feel that the admission fee is proportional to the value of the collections or the overall experience. I've been to other museums such as the Sistine Chapel and even Montreal's Museum of Fine Arts that have much more vast and unique collections for much more reasonable admission fees. I was shocked that it was so crowded on a random Monday morning; there was almost no space to walk around. I wasn't fully able to enjoy it without bumping into people or having to navigate the congested hallways and staircases. I would not recommend a visit unless you're obsessed with modern western art.

Frank Hyun

Great place to view modern art! Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” is also present here. You can view art, and many common inventions! I, myself, found this art piece very interesting and funny.

Eliahu Elmalah

Iit is a feast for the eyes .A lot of it .manny people added to the good experience

Melanie Guerin

I was only able to spend two hours, and it was not nearly enough! Truly something for everyone here: familiar names and paintings like Water Lilies as well as new multimedia works. Also had delicious lunch in Cafe 2

Rose Teal

Fabulous paintings and free on Friday evenings so very crowded!

Melissa Banda

My experience at the museum was very quickly cause I arrived late. I just had an hour to visit all the floors and I received a free guest pass just for the hour. It's awesome all inside there, and have automatic stairs to make the visit quickly and less tired. Everything at the gift shop is very expensive but it deserves the price. They have and Oscar at the exit.

Chloe Chaparro Bailey

They allow way more people in than they should. Completely ruins the experience of would could be a very complete modern art museum as you can't even walk around, let alone enjoy the art. Would not recommend and most certainly will not be back unless they change this. Very disappointed.

D Stevens

One of the best modern art museums in the world hands down. There is nothing more thrilling to art lovers than to be able to see iconic paintings that you have seen in print for many years up close and the originals. That was the experience in standing two feet from Van Gogh's Starry Night or Picasso's Avignon. The same for works by Matisse, Chagall, Pollack and many more. The exhibit halls are very spacious so there is never a crowded feeling despite the large number of viewers. You are able to get up close as well as stand back and take in these historic works of art. The museum has current exhibits continuously changing over so call ahead or look at their website to see whats on. The large wooden sculptures are also very interesting and the bench by the window where these statues are offers a view of the garden where I spotted another famous Picasso statue of the goat. The museum has the usual cafe and gift shop as do most museums. The gift shop/library as I call it has a great selection of books and posters. Located in mid town Manhattan a short walk from Central Park, 5th Avenue or Times Square. A must see for art lovers.

fitzy4578

Beautifully put together with some truly stunning pieces.

João D

Amazing museum! Completely worth it and full of well known paintings. I love it! Such a shame that some floors were closed. Some interactive exhibitions.

Edgar Borrero

Very large museum with unique art on canvass and sculptures

Jack Knott

The MoMA is a wonderful exhibit for anyone who has at least a small interest in modern art. We went for the day and spent about 3 hours touring the museum and having lunch in the very ample cafe. Art starts with impressionist, including a massive water lily painting by Monet. There is much to see here from most famous modern artist all the way through some of the very abstract art of today. The only issue we had was it was quite crowded with some very rude visitors. As a result, it was difficult to see some of the most famous pieces and almost impossible to read the related captions. This criticism, is not focused on the museum, but on the people there that day. The price of admission was quite reasonable. A top museum attraction in NYC.

Patricia Kelly

The Best, either getting a drink at the balcony with with live music, food in the restaurants excellent, service superb.

Khaled Mostafa

This is an opinion from a guy who do not understand modern art very well, i am not an artist. This museum has precious and important paintings and starry night and the persistence of the memory and several important modern art galleries from modern south american artists. But also contains a big collection of non sense paintings that are very abstract And hard to be understood by the non specialized public. Or people like me who find it difficult to digest the modern art expressions. I uploaded the most painting i truly enjoyed and a comple one white painting that i don't understand it.

Laquanta Fisher

I love this place. Everything is displayed nicely and you're able to purchase a ton of souvenirs. They have a wonderful selection of art books with pictures from some of the world's favorite artists but be prepared to spend

N A

Great museum. Went with member during off hours. Nice way to see it. But so many people regardless. Members are not very nice museum goers.

kevin matchett

Brilliant exhibition of modern art. So much to see and enjoy. Get there early to beat the crowds. Good food and shop.

Linda Evans

World class art. I've been visiting here my awhile life...I still remember my first visit where's my baby sister my mom and dad great aunt and uncle ... I must have just been at the end of three years old or the beginning of 4 years old

Dolly Thurman

This is one of the great museum I've been admiring. We have been here many times and it never failed to amazed of the arts displayed. It never gets old and I'm always in awe every time we visit. Their courtyard is also beautiful, sometimes people have meetings and other gatherings there. Pretty neat. They are in the works for expanding the museum and I can't wait to go back and see the new additions. I am looking forward to my next visit with friends!

Laura & Antonio Paez

I definitely don’t like modern art, other than ending my experience at the Moma feeling happy and uplifting, I ended feeling disturbed and uneasy, the videos are specially disturbing, for me this is not what art is for. I did enjoy hearing the explanation and “interpretation” of the people around me about what they saw in a piece of black canvas, that was hilarious!

T Carter

The good design exhibit is exceptional. Good design is so often overlooked. It's fantastic that it has an exhibit to itself.

Brittany Fox

Really cool art museum. Stayed for a few hours, had a snack at the cafe and appreciated the wonderful art work from the likes of Picasso and Monet. Cool gift shop with magnets and bookmarks too!

Rajesh Narayanan

Good place to spend time if you are an art lover. Ticketing process was slow because of the enforced luggage check-in. In the end tickets were not even scanned before entry! Possibly they should let people in by time slots; it was really crowded everywhere and we cannot fully enjoy the displays

Jefferie Hicks

Oh my God. If you love and appreciate art or if think it's stupid you'll love this place. They even offer free headphones that explains the artist and their work. A definite must visit.

Josh Marquis

Great space, friendly staff, and interesting collections while giving space to lesser known artists. It's nice seeing van Gogh right next to less commonly popular artists. Particularly enjoyed all the architecturely inspired art especially in the context of NYC.

David Cain

I always think of the Met first when I'm deciding which NYC art museum to visit, but MOMA is a very close second! There are so many world class masterworks here that you will definitely have a great time. The crowd on a Saturday in April made it a busy place, but there weren't so many people that I couldn't see everything that I wanted to. You should definitely make it a priority if you're in Manhattan for more than a couple of days.

Mac A

Moma was actually a pretty neat place. My favorites were definitely the Van Gogh paintings, but there were some other famous works there, too. I really enjoyed the sculpture garden, especially because of how nice it was outside. It was a very peaceful place to reflect on the art, and chat with my friends. I got in for free because I’m a student, which was nice. Since it’s free, I’d consider going back again. I think it’s worth the trip.

Nick Edwards

Art isn't my thing at all but the building is very impressive and there are a number of interesting as well as well known pieces in the gallery. We spent around 2 hours in the museum, those with more interest could spend multiple days easily.

Rs Reviews

I just went there because of Van Goghs paintings. But there was so much more to see. Definitely worth a visit.

Shoutmon 66 Balistic

It takes a very particular person to enjoy a lot of art there. Personally I prefer art that took effort to create and while there were some pieces that were that way there were many more that were not, such as a dot that people search for that is clearly visible on a blank canvas. I'm no art critic but I did not enjoy the art there

Brian Milhorn

Went to the restaurant. Had a nice six course meal. It was a bit heavy, at points, but one of the best French style restaurants I've been to stateside. Glad we were able to take our sister in law here for her first trip outside of Europe. The wine pairing is a must too. Had several wines with the courses that I've added to my cellar.

Jeffrey Na

Always inspirational! I've been here several times, and this will always be place that I will frequent. Love the art and the creativity.

Jeremy Patterson

The MoMA is amazing and you shouldn't need to ask anybody that. If you're looking at Google reviews just go. There's something different about seeing these pieces in person than seeing pictures of them.

Solomon R

I'm not well-versed in art - not in it's history, creation, or analysis. I do know that I like MoMA. For me, it satisfyingly presents works along the spectrum from "classic" modern art (movements) to newer, boundary-pushing, less understood pieces. I also appreciate the breadth (re: variety) of the pieces on display from it's collection at any given time.

Karen Noblett

We really enjoyed our visit as there is so much to see. However, we thought were lucky to stumble upon the Friday Nights for Free... Crazy crowds, would have rather paid. Then, we were so excited to be able to see Van Gogh's Starry Night... That experience is not the fantasy. It's a shame people can't put down their dang phones long enough to actually experience a masterpiece without having to show everyone they were there...

EasyBooy

I’m happy with the remodeling of the museum but the pieces on display right now didn’t blow my mind

Eduardo Penna

I'm not the biggest fan of modern art, but it was still a very engaging and fulfilling museum visit. The permanent collection is excellent, and the Miró temporary exhibit was fantastic. My only gripe is that not one but two floors were closed to the public.

Ulysses Wynn Jr

Thoroughly enjoyable. Manhattan Museum Of Modern Art is always an excitingly fun, energetic and intelligent place to visit. History to our tomorrow`s future. God bless us all. We all need God`s Holy Loving Hand Of Guidances. Spend a little time. Thoroughly look around and take a deep breath. Kickback, stop, look, listen and imagine all the wonderful possibilities. Amen.

Beth Rota

Very easy to visit mid sized museum. New world and Old world modern art displayed. Rotating exhibits and very knowledgable tour guides. Cafe with light food. Budget 3 hours for a visit. Ages 15 and under are free of charge.

LUXX

Super beautiful museum. I absolutely loved my trip here. We spent around 2 hours here, even though we would have spent all day if we were able to, but each exhibit is so unique and different from the next. It was a bit busy due to it being a weekend, but we were still able to enjoy each piece individually at our own pace. Well worth the money and time!

David Choi

Top 5 museum of all time. They host big events and always try to keep things interesting each year. I attended the Yoko Ono opening event as a plus one where they served champaign, wine, and little finger foods while they had a band play. It was cool to see the curated pieces before the general public were able to. But what can I say, Yoko Ono, top 5 overrated artist of all time. Am I right? Actually maybe not she had some cool ideas.

Gunapal Shetty

Explore the imagination if you are a photographer one should visit it's a lifetime experience I think i can spend a week at this place but surely if next time if I go to New York MOMA WILL BE THE FIRST TO PLACE IN MY LIST

Joshua F

An amazing museum to visit. There are a lot of very famous pieces of artwork there and it is definitely a full day trip. The line to get in may be a little long at times but it is definitely worth it because they have every different genre of art. Not just modern art. Very fun place to go for the day, I would recommend.

Jed Abell

Like and understand modern art? This place is amazing. Don't understand Modern Art? This place is hilarious. We went to a ton of museums, and this was by far our favorite

Frédéric Lebreux

MOMA is a must do when you are in Manhattan. It is currently under renovation and the new version (to be made available in October 2019) should be amazing. The collections are beautiful with some masterpieces that everybody knows. The audio guide is free of charge and nicely made. Regardless of your level of seniority if art and art history, you should be able to leave this museum happy and satisfied.

Daysi Perez

Huge place with lovely work of art. I had a fantastic time even though I went alone. There were a great variety of people and so I didn’t feel alone. I felt so alive. Definitely recommend this amazing museum.

Suchita Dinaker

If you like modern art, yes!! All the artists of modernism have exhibits. Most attractive were Van Gogh and Picasso

carille1

I don't like the floor plan. With that being said, they have some excellent pieces of art. Picasso, Andy Warhol, Van Gough, Cezanne, Jackson Pollock, Frieda Kahlo, Dali, Monet, etc. Regular admission is $25.

Priscilla Tufano

Love it! Always changing into new amazing exhibits! Starry Night always has a big crowd around it. Highly recommended this place

Hermann Luyken

It mas be very popular but I don't see the point in admiring a piece of blue acrylic plastic. Maybe good for snobs, definitely not my taste.

Cindy Middendorf

There are so many famous paintings here, most notably Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh!! There are many wonderful works by Pablo Picasso. I also enjoyed works by Henri Matisse, Henri Rousseau, Paul Cezanne and many more. There are three large wall panels of Water Lilies by Claude Monet.

Desmond Noel

The Museum is under construction so I don't know how much of that affected our feeling that the museum seemed somewhat of a hodgepodge. Still, we loved taking our young teens to see many of the famous paintings they had only seen in books. Always a thrill. Nice to discover some new treasures as well. Always very good exhibits-something for everyone. Stay an hour or a few days! Nothing like seeing the real paintings by all the great artists. And, worldwide artifacts.

Daniel Tenorio

The place is nice Full of amazing art But the bad thing about this place is the security. This one time I accidentally walked a bit close to a portrait and one security guard shouted out “DON’T TOUCH IT” and started a scene and even had the nerve to target my friends and teacher (by the way it was a class trip) She didn’t need to yell or cause a scene, I know she was doing her job but that wasn’t necessary, she could have said “ Sir you’re to close” And I would have moved but beside that the museum was great.

Doremus Family

Went with my 2 boys (age 11 and 8), it was very interesting and great to see famous pieces of art. My 8 year did get board, but they have seating areas in each area. Took about 2-3 hours for us

Sue F

Can't wait to see the remodel.

Bryan

WOW. Diverse, brilliant and iconic collections. Fascinating art-installations on the 5th floor. What really impressed me was the staff inside the museum. Each and every person I encountered was so friendly and helpful - whether giving extra info about the art or giving you directions...when/if you get lost in there. Kudos to the staff and management after a brilliant remodel. I can’t wait to return to MOMA.

Kristian Ehlert

Clearly one of the best art museums in the world. Excellent exhibitions of art ranging back up to 150 years. Mostly focuses on paintings but includes photos, installations, sculptures, textiles, furniture and architectural models. Good selection of text provided for selected pieces. Only would like them to update some overview texts to focus on the thoughts about the pieces rather than feeling like they have to justify them...

Liam Wong

Dont really see the point..but maybe im too old fashioned..

Andrea Scott Linder

I'm a big Eames fan. More than enough to quench my thirst. Fun Salvador Dali exhibit & other Dada/ Cubism pieces. The Van Gogh Starry Night painting was here, not at the Met. Absolutely enthralled by the Good Design exhibit. Lots of decorative arts dating back from early 20th century to today. Hands on stuff for kids, not terribly packed (like the Met) & doable in a few hours.

Amaro Silva

Kids really enjoyed it and couldn't help it, had to spin the bicycle wheel!!

Millie Rodriguez

Always love going here! It's a great place to spend the day!

Regina Alvarez

I loved it!! So many masterpieces in one location! I loved how they were displayed and the docents were very knowledgeable! Of course I ran out of time to to see everything, so I must go back!!

Alroy Lam

Famous pieces of art and a large variety of art works on view. Went with someone and we enjoyed trying to interpret the art work before reading the notes (if any) on them. There was also some clips of films that they showed, with seating so that you can watch and also take a break. Free audio tour tapes and ample bathrooms. Didn't go to cafeteria area.

V K

The museum has an extraordinary and diverse collection of modern art. The only other comparable collection is in Chicago Art Institute. You don’t have to love modern art in order to appreciate the collection. It is still enjoyable and educational.

Ian Mercer

Incredible range of art. Beautifully displayed. Wonderful daily events with intelligent, articulate and passionate curators. Went on a Monday, so not hugely busy, and totally worth it. Great selection including Picasso, Warhol, Van Gogh, Monet, Pollock. Delightful day spent admiring the art.

Evan Dockstader

We went on the last day they were open, until October. We had to purchase a membership in order to go. My wife loved it! It was clean, the staff was nice, and the cafe was INCREDIBLE and pricey.

Andres

One of the best Museums in the world. The best works of art at a astonishing venue in midtown Manhattan. A must do and mist see when in New York! To beat the crowds order a ticket online and visit during weekdays in the morning

Andrea Gomez

Spectacular. World class. I couldn't believe I saw so many incredible pieces in one place!!! My heart was happy when I left. One of the best museums I have ever visited.

Mikhael Jimmy

Not far from glamorous fifth avenue new york; there is this wonderful, magical, inspirational museum of modern arts. You can sense the impact of this oasis, from the visitor. Easy layout to walk through exhibition, completed with decent cafe, lovely MoMA shop. A must visiting destination in NY, not only for art enthusiast but for all people who are longing for change in their life.

Elizabeth Jenkins

Visited the museum with a group of students and had a wonderful experience. Only issue of note is that the student entrance is around the back of the building which led to a bit of confusion at first arrival. Once we were checked in everything was very smooth. I especially enjoyed the permanent collection, as did the students. It was a bit crowded but that’s to be expected. The docents were all very friendly and helpful in answering questions. Would certainly visit again.

Richard Radwinski

Multiple levels with each individual level offering 1 - 2 exhibits. The exhibits have a good range of artistic styles and types from paintings to sculptures to installations to dioramas. It can get quite busy but it’s well worth a visit. Make sure you give yourself about 3 hours to ensure you have enough time to enjoy all the exhibits as time passes quickly once your looking around and enjoying the offerings.

Dave Newcomer

Fantastic place to go. Especially taking your kids so they can see everything

Kasie Sherman

Absolutely moved. Only reason I'm rating 4 stars is because I didn't get there early enough to see it all. Look forward to a future of going back. As an art history kid with a love of these topics in particular, this was an absolute dream come true.

Caroline Mitchell Carrico

Wonderful art; very friendly and knowledgeable staff

James Lai

The art pieces here are amazing! I visited on a Friday afternoon so there was a bit if a crowd (not sure if it was for the Uniqlo event or not). Despite the crowd, the whole atmosphere was really nice and I enjoyed it a lot! Quoting a friend, ‘A lot of arts from the textbook we’ve used growing up!’

Paulius S

Beautiful museum with tonnes of stuff to see. Everything from paintings to vases to Faberge eggs. Has a nice rooftop cafe and restaurant with a great view. Definitely worth spending the day there, even if you are not a massive fan of art.

Nicholas Tylenda

2 floors were closed for remodeling. Limited exhibits. Contemporary art installation was a snore. Would love to have seen more of the design though.

Andrew Hove

The fifth floor is some of the most breathtaking art I've ever seen (including the famous Starry Night). As you work your way down the floors the museum turns into the absurd. You'll find yourself asking "at what point does this stop being art and start being trash". I understand the point of provoking thought and the art of floors 2-4 had me thinking "How quickly can I escape this museum?"

Ashley Maggiacomo

A stunning display of art. Delightful staff- including personability! The gentleman who helped my friend and I stow our bags was able to recognize us while heading to retrieve them before we even gave our info. That extra touch made the experience that much better. Not to mention, being SUNY student we were able to get in for free!

anuradha ayyar

Absolutely splendid to walk into the scared spaces of prodigious artists! It's quite surreal to see some of the masterpiece in person, many that we have skimmed over books and internet. A must visit for everyone touring the city!

Beau Hindman

Lovely place, but a bit minimal. It's funny -- you'll walk around the corner and there is this priceless work of art that is known around the world, and it just seems like it was placed there casually. Makes you realize just how many of those priceless pieces the MoMA has! 25$ a ticket, not bad, and there are discounts for kids/seniors.

J L

This museum has a very hit or miss set of art. As a member, you can come to some of the nicest gallery opening parties I've seen. My video gives an example of what to expect, a crowd an open bar and the ability to preview the galleries. One gallery this time was cool, the other I didn't really think was worth the time or money. They have a beautiful courtyard and restaurant you can also enjoy during your visit and therefore definitely recommend doing this museum during the warmer months.

Gertrude Saddles

I had a wonderful time at the museum. I will be bringing my grandchildren here someday in the near future.

Randall Stempler

Beautiful redesign, expansion and presentation. So much more of this outstanding collection of modern and contemporary art is now on view and will be rotating on a regular basis.

Joey Gibson

The most famous artwork in the world - all under one roof. My favorites were the Starry Night, Water Lilies, and Jackson Pollock. Like the guides will tell you - start at the top and work your way down through the collection. Be sure to check the maps of each floor to make sure you don't miss any galleries. The New MoMA combines all art types together, so you'll see paintings, photographs and movies together in the same space. The 2nd floor has a kid's area that my 10 year old loved. The day we were there activities were weaving, observational drawing and map making. If you have kids go here 1st and they have an activity booklet and scavenger hunt to fill out as you work your way through the museum. Be sure to get an audio guide - they're free

state yourbuisness

Absolutely stunning display of artwork really puts you into a mindset of respecting the creators and thinkers of our abstract world. Its amazing the detail put into such a museum. The only thing i can add is that the security could be amped up for holding such items as the starry night.

Jonathan Osorio

This place is a must if you are visiting New York. My kids have fun in the children section located in the first floor. The “The Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh is amazing. You could enjoy different artist and new technology trend. You have meter parking in front of the museum starting at 6PM for regular vehicles.
