REVIEWS OF Queens Museum IN New York

Nice place to visit

Joel C. Salomon

The Panorama of the City of New York is indeed very cool, but not worth the admission fee. (Check the NYC Culture Pass site for free admission, though.) The rest of the museum is full of the most pretentious gallery labels I’ve ever seen, attached to mostly mediocre art. There’s a very nice park just outside the museum which is a much better place to spend a few hours.

Zach Falk

The Panorama is a must see. Other art exhibits were cool as well.

Athena L

We went specifically to see the Panorama of New York City which is incredible. We spent an hour at the Panorama. Well worth the cost. Admission, $8, was very reasonable.

Marilyn Byrne

Loved it!!!! Parking is great!!! Price is right if you’re a teacher, nyc employee or student. There are other discounts as well. They have crafts for kids (ask for schedule). My favorite room was the Tiffany room with the lamps. Had lunch outside by the globe, was a great day!!!!

Ruben Roque

First time visit and had a great time!! My teacher ID got me in for free!!!! Everyone else it's $8 which is incredibly cheap!! The art pieces were pretty cool and there was a guy singing alongside his art work which was a wall of portraits of inmates from rikers! You gotta check this place out if you're visiting NY especially with the world's fair right outside!!!

Alice Rios

Good museum to go to for the day. Located in a nice area to spend the day with family or friends. The sprinkler area is open so you can cool off from the heat. There is parking but its kind of limited.

soyoung hur

The most ridiculous museum ever!!! Sign and all the information states museum hours Wed-Sun 11-5pm. I’m here at 4:35 and tried to enter but a museum employee runs out says it’s closed and locks the door behind me! I called to find out what’s going on and an employee says they close at 4:45 to get ready to close up. It wasn’t even 4:45!!! How lazy and unprofessional!!!! Who’s paying for these lazy people? City government? Beyond ridiculous! Never waste your time coming here!!

Noely

Great place to visit during the summer. Plenty of space in the park to enjoy outdoor activities with the family.

Lucas Alberts

This is very nice museum. When we attended they were having an orchestra performance in the main lobby which was quite fantastic! The miniature model of New York is absolutely amazing and must be seen! I would highly recommend this wonderful museum to any who enjoy the arts.

NUPUR ARORA

Beautiful place in a serene surrounding, the Hidden gem. Don’t miss the panorama of the city of New York and also the Tiffany glass collection. Also loved the memorabilia from worlds fair. Weekends always have workshops and art making for families etc. They should think about putting in a cafe or something that’s the only thing missing from the experience!

Timothy Richey

Interesting museum with unique show pieces, unfortunately the employees would rather sit around talking then actually inform you of anything. They're really weird about backpacks here so not a good place for tourist

May Nandaura

It’s actually very interesting and cheap. Go with time on weekends because it’s not easy to find where to park.

Christine Godek

A little jewel nestled on Queens

Jake Miller

I'm not sure I'd say it's for everybody. Most of the museum consists of artwork that might not be completely understood by some. As a whole the museum's collection of exhibits might seem a little bit abstract and disjointed. By far, the main attraction is the 1:1200 scale model of New York City and the artifact collection from the two world's fairs that took place there. There's also a pretty cool scale model how New York City gets its water. In all, I think art enthusiasts would get the most enjoyment out of this museum but the price is pretty cheap and maybe if you just go to see the panorama that alone is worth the cost, I think.

Mike Mah

It isn't a huge museum in NY, my kid can finish surrounding in half hour. However, the Sundays free family ART workshop can surprise me everytime, they offer free family workshop with different art and craft creation each Sundays. Should visit to discover more by yourself.

Nathaniel Loehrke

The city scape is a world's fair in a bucket. One could get lost in it for hours. Great permanent displays, interesting rotating cast, quiet, and close to the giant globe of Forrest Hills Park.

Trevor Ewen

Cool place. Interesting exhibits. Great environment.

Evelyn Ponce

I expected to see more then just 2 exhibits. If they are putting up more exhibits and they don’t have much to show then they should advise people on their site. The panorama of New York City was nice and the Tiffany exhibit was very, very small.

Kristina Medina

Great museum but not very big

Joel Östlund

Old world fair exebition venue. Good panorama of new York in the 60s

Tania G. Linares

This spot was part of two world's Fair exhibitions and this place contains part of NYC history. Friendly staff and a nice experience. Don't miss the map

Justin Skipworth

Nice place to relax on a Sunday.

Adam Ford

The panorama of New York City is so worth the trip. It is truly amazing and helps you get a understanding of the size and scope of the city they it's just hard to get any other way even in this age of Google Earth. My teenagers loved it. And the staff were very helpful kind and all round pleasant people.

Ydhelca Perez

I had a great time at the museum. They had a live band playing. My boyfriend and I got to do some arts and crafts in the crafts studio. We also got to check out thw new exhibitions. So very nice. They always have new things going on.

Jenő Szabó

We have visited many museums and exhibitions in New York, but Mel Chin's exhibition was the most impressive above all. At least for adults. Also it was the cheapest admission at the same time.

gurpaul Ahluwalia

Very interesting

Isabel Cristina Barbosa

A must do if you come to NYC

Yosef Yeroshalmi

The panorama is very nice, and that's it, the rest of the museum is full of anti American propoganda. Back to the panorama, it is very hard to see Brooklyn and queens, when they are far in the middle, I feel a like a bridge should have been built across the middle to give views of everything.

Jacksman

Inexpensive ($8 suggested) admission price with parking and interesting art installations. The panorama of NYC is nothing short of impressive and worth the entry fee alone. There is also currently an interactive exhibit at 1130 and 3.

Jaheed Choudhury

Very nice place

Ken Yoon

Don’t come. It isn’t a regular museum. The employees close when they don’t think anyone will catch them.

WUNMI OWA

I love the park. It's Soo peaceful. A perfect place for lovers to sit and reminisce.

Chris C

People are very nice but it's really small. Not a lot of exhibits but place is very spacious and clean

ivan funes

Great place for the kiddos

Alice Mulero

Beautiful park...great visits during the US Open for Tennis 2019.

Marlen sandoval

Because there's a new place to see paintings and relax

Andres Cordoba

This is an interesting place where you can find unique pieces of art. As well you can dimension how big New York city really is. I leterally spent like 40 minutes just viewing every single detail of the city.

Satyasikha C

Great exhibits on New York's cityscape

조영기

It's a great resting place for citizens.

SUBHAS SUTRADHAR

The Queens Museum, formerly the Queens Museum of Art, is an art museum and educational center located in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park in the borough of Queens in New York City, United States.

Paul Katz

Great space, but a strange collection. Aside from the great NYC model, there's not much to see.

Harris Roberts

Great art museum. $8 suggested adult ticket. Took about 2.5 hours to go through.

Alli's Tech

The only interesting part was the huge panoramic view of New York everything else was not eye catching or interesting

Ola Orrz

By sheer coincidence I was reading 'Just kids' Patty Smith and 'Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk' at the time I attended the exhibit and I highly recommend them both as they were the perfect mental pallet cleansers to put you into the mindset of the early NY punk rock scene. Additionally I can't tell you how wonderful it was to comb over all of this modern day reliquary in the very hometown of the band. Nicely done.

Ratiranjan Prajapati

It's a great place and recommend for the people living around here and abroad for the visit. Love the panorama

Tiffany Win

This museum is the worst. I asked for the protocol to take wedding photos with just my photographer and immediate family and they said as long as we arrived during museum hours and did not need a room rental, we should be fine. Cut to the day of my wedding, my family and I were welcomed by an incompetent volunteer who told us not only that we needed to PAY to get into this suggested admission museum, but that we were not allowed to even walk through the galleries because they had an event starting in four (yes, four) hours. After we finally asked to take a single photo, the manager of the day yelled at our entire group for daring to take a picture in front of the ugly mural in the atrium because “it’s probably against the artist’s wish” to have photos taken of it (that other guests were taking photos of), and promptly told us that the person who told us it was okay does not work at the museum anymore and therefore it was not valid. As a Queens-born person, I support the arts but I think this museum can be skipped. It’s now apparent to me why this museum remains empty every time I visit - including my own wedding.

Martin Quizhpi

Is a good place to learn

DaiXi Mindyuk

Gorgeous location. Both the museum and where it is located. Interesting exhibits. I was here for Women in Comics convention and we kept getting distracted from our cosplay shenanigans by the visuals and exhibits. Gorgeous place.

Hardwrick Johnson

It's a Beautiful to go check out and just walk around and see the site's

Yingying Yang

The Queens museum is really cool and really big. The admission ticket for children under 18 is free so you don't really need to spend a lot. The tour guides are really nice and the Panorama was super cool. It shows us the 5 boroughs and has almost every building there is. They teach you very interesting facts like how The Bronx is called The Bronx and not just Bronx.

Zachary Ehrlich

great museum and we got to meet Mel Chin, a conceptual visual artist. Motivated largely by political, cultural, and social circumstances, Chin works in a variety of art media to calculate meaning in modern life. the museum is an open space in the flushing meadows park and handicapped accessible and has separate bathrooms that allow those who ascribe to that gender to use it. very open and welcoming museum i highly recommend

Maria Grove

The Queens Museum is a very welcoming place. The staff is very good-natured and wanting to help, but they really don’t seem to know a lot about what’s going on. In addition the exhibit, Unbuilt New York, was very exciting but very poorly organized. Even the numbers on the portions of the exhibit weren’t in order.

Lucais Horsley

Took some friends from out of town to see the panorama exhibit of NYC and they loved it. It was so much fun trying to figure out what part of the city different areas on the map were. A really cool part is when the overhead lights dim and lights on the panorama light up to provide a "night" perspective of the city. It is definitely a must see for native New Yorkers as well as visitors to the Big Apple.

luz stella Duarte

Has a lot of important information on different topics

Frederick Wenkonski

Humble little building was once the home of the United Nations and a major part of the World Expo at Corona Park. The Panorama of New York City alone is worth the visit but the museum offers so much more and the park around it is a wonderful place to spend a day.

Vanessa Santacruz

Great museum with free parking and beautiful setting Flushing Meadow Park.

Howard Blue

Nice museum. It also has some park benches outside where you can enjoy reading my book, Words at War. The book tells how WWII era radio helped the war effort. And it describes how 13 leading radio people suffered from the postwar broadcasting industry blacklist.

Crystaly Rivera

Love this place so much ❤! Great stuff to see inside.

Anne O'Connell

Could use more extensive and creative exhibits. Too much unused space.

Sheryl Klarmann

Typically we enjoy the Museum, but because they were between exhibits they had limited exhibits to view - Tiffany glass, NYC panorama and water info. I think they should have reduced admission price until all the rooms were open.

W. Ting Tsai

The museum is sitting in such a large and beautiful historical site with a lot more opportunities to have higher quality exhibits and plans. Nothing much going on, but worth to have an afternoon hangout with friends passing by and walking around the park.

sonia edet

Went to the park to take some pictures. It has got beautiful sunflowers.

Flight Mike

I was born and raised in queens. I loved coming here as a kid. It was a quick train ride from pretty much any where in Queens. Right off the 7 train. Bring your kids, bring everyone. They've got all types of events all year long.

mark andrew hamilton

The Panorama of NYC is one of the best hidden secrets of all five boroughs. I make sure to visit every time I’m in town – don’t rush and soak in an entire “day” from sunrise to sunset and sunrise again. The other areas may not be quite as impressive as the Panorama, but very little anywhere actually is.

Isaac Sadovnik

Not an extensive collection, but what they have is very interesting

maria amaya

The best place to enjoy w childs

Noah Hopkins

Great place to check out if you're a New Yorker. Probably less entertaining to tourists.

bob sanders

This is an amazing museum with one of my personally favorite exhibit: the panorama of New York City the most astonishing thing I’ve ever seen and I’m looking forward to going back sometime soon

desiree anthony

I like the tiffany exhibits. Its good for child and aduilts to visit. Some of the exhibits was closed. But i got to see a little bit of what ever was Open to the public.

Patrina Huff

In easy walking distance of the Hall of Science. Can make a day of it.

Susan Morrow

The space is amazing. And the panoramic view of New York was fascinating. Will come back again.

Rebecca Balnis

By sheer coincidence I was reading 'Just kids' Patty Smith and 'Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk' at the time I attended the exhibit and I highly recommend them both as they were the perfect mental pallet cleansers to put you into the mindset of the early NY punk rock scene. Additionally I can't tell you how wonderful it was to comb over all of this modern day reliquary in the very hometown of the band. Nicely done.

Ángel Patino

Nice place to visit with the family

Lena Dahlberg

Go there. They have some nice exhibitions. One about Tiffiny glass and one about new york water system for ex. They have a huge map of new york with all the houses. You have to see it. Outside you can see the Flushing Meadows Corona Park where they filmed Men in black. Google it.

Dan Man

Awesome place with great exhibits

Marc D. Latrique

A true artistic gem of a museum. Well attended and cared for. Gorgeously renovated to stand all its own a powerhouse of an institution, in a beautiful location, representing the artistic community and heritage of its namesake. Activities and programmes for artists in residence, the continuity, its children, and an active and varying rotation of regular exhibits year-round... absolutely astounding and worthy of much greater praise.

Carl Friedrich

The permanent exhibit of the panorama of NYC is without doubt one of the most amazing museum experiences in the city. Highly recommended.

Aradhana Das

Wonderful place for. ice skating, family picknic, just walking. Plenty of parking. Listen and see the local talents and shows. Good for wedding photography use of park is free of charge.

Omar Haider

Being a long time resident of the NY metro area, the 1st thing that struck me was how small the collection was. I went there with my elementary school going kid. There were some are work by the kids. Most interesting was the art lab where kids can work on their own art work, activities. The panorama was interesting. The staff were nice, proactive, the cafe was ok. The best thing to do is plan for visiting Flushing Meadows Corona park, this museum and the Queens zoo.

Bitna Kwon

Very new clean spacious not so many people. But not too much exhibitions.

shah familys in newyork

I love this placé

Shlomo Nussbaum

They have a miniature of ny City

Mark Donahue

The Panorama of New York City is incredible. Spent 45 minutes checking it out. The intricacy and level of detail are fascinating. Several other excellent exhibits in the spacious hall. Great views of the Unisphere from the windows. Queens Museum is well worth the visit and a great value! Admission for our group of five was only $32.

Thea Spittle

What a truly special place! Thank you for making so much incredible work available to the community for the Queens International 2018/19

Edwin Cortez

Amazing place site of the Original film MIB

Ana B

When we went it was in between exhibits which is fine but when we looked on their website to check when it opened, it didnt say that it only had a few exhibits open. Other than that it was a pretty place and the exhibits that were open were very interesting.

Luckyheart1107 L

Always love to sit by the globe. Interesting people

Maria Rosario

Museum is great, many things to see on one's own time. The workers at the museum were wonderful in explaining some of the exhibition and knowledgeable.

Florian Jourdhier

New York miniature version...enjoy

Robert Thomas

Not a lot to see. Check exhibits and any performances before you go.

Fannie Poplin

This place is so much fun and really worth multiple visits. The pavilion highlights and exhibits are informative and exciting. Plus there is so much to do in this area with the tar pits and science center near by!! But the membership and you'll end up going more then you'd ever think. Plus members do get perks! Love the Queens Museum.

Karen Dubner

Cute museum.

Alexandria Wells

Pretty cool museum, was there for a harity event so I can't speak to all of the exhibits.. Eclectic collection of exhibits

John

Nice not bad just a very long walk from the train station, drive there

Penelope Pelton

I was pleasantly surprised by the Queens Museum. For some reason I thought it was mostly World's Fair stuff, but there was a large amount of contemporary art as well. The Tiffany Lamp collection is also amazing.

Haina JustMichael

Unexpected pleasure. From the NYC diagram to assorted exhibits and fun surroundings. Easy parking access off highway. And then stop at the old Worlds Fair grounds and Billie Jean King Tennis Center

Tracy Yang

The Queens Museum’s admission ticket fee is not expensive. Kids under 18 can get in for free which is very nice. The cafe opens on weekends and the panorama is beautiful and very cool. It showcases New York during the daytime and nighttime. You can find every single building built before 1992. It is detailed and the tour guide uses it to teach you about New York City. For example the ‘Bronx’ is supposed to be called ‘The Bronx’.

Mr XP

A good museum for all ages.

Trishatur LaGalia

Enjoyable local museum with a great collection of Tiffany lamps and local art. Nice setting with parking in Flushing Meadows Park

Wendy Donaghy

We visited the Queens Museum with a Homeschooling group and learned quite a lot from our tour guide "Georgie" (thank you). This lovely architectural designed museum with steal and glass has plenty of lighting. The many spacious galleries are sure to give you a different perspective of art. The kids favorite was the miniture NYC Gallery that's quite unique. This museum is a must visit if you're in Queens and near Flushing Meadows Corona Park. After the museum kids can enjoy either the Queens Zoo or The NY Hall of Science. Some photos of the glass gallery and the children's team building design effort of a suspension bridge.

Stefanie Levit

Fun to visit. Too much abstract art for my liking but the large map of NYC was really cool!

Mohammad Fahad Aveek

Small museum but interactive. It’s a modern museum. The fountain outside the museum is really attractive.

Wazim Baksh

This Museum is different from the traditional Museums with abstract exhibits that may not be exciting and appealing to children and some may not be appropriate either. For the price it was a good deal and located in Corona Park which makes for another great attraction when visiting NYC.

Kinga FortNite

Beautiful Settings For Family Or Just Solo Adventure .

pedro castellanos

It was closed. Hope to see it open soon.

Alex Seo

Very rude desk cleck.

Risa Inberg

Nice but they were redoing the interior and there was very little art. Out side was beautiful.

Travel Videos

Amazing Panoramic

Jeff Berwick

Interesting place in the park.

Christopher LaRosa

The Museum provided no parking for daytime patrons because the parking lot was closed for an evening event. Upon entering the museum I noticed that there were more staff than visitors and they were unable to provide me with a viable solution Poor planning QMA, and waste of my time.

Candice Lee

This is the worst museum I’ve been to in NYC. I’ve never seen such a huge, empty building. All this just for the World’s Fair map? Big deal. I’m embarrassed to have even been here. I’m embarrassed that I brought someone with me. Erasing this experience from my memories.

Scarlett Taylor

The best part is the Panorama and it is immense and fascinating and necessary.

Benny Radjasa

Quaint museum that showcase lots lesser know talents, very progressive. The diorama model of New York City is impressive, it was used much before the digital age for city planning and wind shear affect on NYC streets. UN General Assembly adopted the Plan as resolution 181 in this building. The resolution recommended the creation of independent Arab and Jewish States and a Special International Regime for the city of Jerusalem.

Vidal Nikko Luchana

This place is super cool and educational for kids. They have their own old small model of New York City. Its breathtaking and a calm place to hangout. They also have their own cafe which is pretty sweet. The artworks displayed in the museum are eye popping! I would recommend to bring children of all ages.

luis garcia

Nice place to learn some nyc history

Adesuwa Iyokho

Meaningful and significant contemporary art were displayed.

INHALE_tHe_YAOI oWo

It was amazing you should go

Wayne Lee

Always blown away by the NYC Panorama and the breathtaking sight of the Unisphere.

B. O

Pretty good museum

Olga G-M

We had a great program the last time I visited.

RRR

A really nice place for children and adults to spend an afternoon. I believe the entrance fee was $8 and less for children and seniors. Personally, I thought there would be more exhibitions to check out. Do spend some time at the panorama of New York City.

Danny G

Not much here, but the NYC panorama is impressive. If you're near by pay a visit. Admission is suggested donation.

Scott Newsam

Aside from the Panorama of New York City (which needs updating) there really isn't much else to see.

Alicia Harris

a wonderful time had by all

Zuleika Gallippoli

Nice people working inside the museum.

Naveed Ahmed

Anything with free parking deserves 5 starts no questions asked next to unisphere a plus and enjoyable trip with family. Browse the meuseum have a stroll and picnic in the beautiful park.

Narcisa Moran

Nice place for be creative!

Keith Gill

It's a Museum in a beautiful park ... what's not to love.

Philip G

Nice little museum. The panorama of NYC is pretty neat. It's not a very big museum so it's good to keep busy for a couple of hours.

David Heller

Great museum with a wide variety of pieces. Definitely worth the suggested donation entry cost.

jessi Ferri

A very modern beautiful architectural design- walking up the frosted glass steps to the second floor is definitely an experience. The World's Fair exibit on the second floor is incredible! The buildings that were the exhibits during both the 1939 and the 1964 Worlds Fairs were amazing! It is a must see!

Kelsey Franciosa

The staff at the main desk were rude and short with me and my whole family. I am an art student and was looking to do research for an art project. We simply were asking if we could come sit in the lobby for a few moments before they opened. The staff members at the desk told us to leave immediately. This staff member could have been polite and just asked nicely if we could stand outside but instead was harsh, rude and made everyone feel unwelcome. I will not be returning to this museum ever again. The staff that great guests at the door should be kind, welcoming and informative but instead we were treated as if we had made an unforgettable mistake. When we got in to the staff was short with us again and did not even make eye contact.

Mikhael Jimmy

Modern, authentic museum. Creativity needs some space and this place accomodate it to its society. The main exhibit is the New York City landscape in scale 1:1200. Giving you the bigger picture of the city with gorgeous lighting, resembling the night and day surrounding. The place is a bit far from MTA but easy to reach with a car or uber. Partnership Gallery is also available.

H MC

Missed any meeting with a curator. I’m a very professional unprofessional. —August 14, 2029

Sunshine NY

Amazing place with the panorama of NYC. Good place for kids to discover it.

Kafi Hass

Museums are fun, educational and everything!!I have come here to wall around, watch summer movies and enjoy the new exhibits. Everyone can come and enjoy

Frank Saletta

Spare inside. Not much to see. Not worth the subway ride there from Manhattan

Josefa Sepúlveda

They got pretty interesting art in display, also a library of censored books by topic in the USA.

Alison D

Worth the visit to see the panoramic model of NYC.

Josephine Woods

It has a beautiful view of the globe in the fountain in the park

Ivonne Mendez

Small but modern, the exhibit very fresh and interesting. Was accompanied with a show band, I enjoyed it.

Kim Juszczak

This is one of my favorite museums in New York City. It's accessible, interesting, and they have very nice rotating installations as well as permanent exhibits. If you're at all interested in the Worlds Fair and wana know those "space ships" are, this is the spot.

Chaos

It's a nice museum and pretty small too. However, they always have interesting exhibitions and art pieces to look at. I love visiting Queens Museum because it's so peaceful.

Kristine K

Such a big, historic place (was part of the 1964 World's Fair complex and housed the UN for a few years), yet there is very little there. When we visited (early March 2019) the panoramic exhibit and Tiffany glass exhibit was about it. Panoramic was super cool, but pretty basic and there is so much more that could have been shared to fill in the blanks. It was a nice day so we also strolled around outside to take in the universe (globe) and what most of us know now as "the Men in Black" towers. Again, both part of the World's Fair complex. Queens has such a rich and diverse history, wish there would have been more.

Eddie Caruthers

The panorama view of the city is in itself worth the trip!

John Soto

Great art museum that is really close to the unisphere.

Justin

I'd never been here before last week, but it's definitely one of the cooler and underrated museums in the city. Lots of experimental work, friendly atmosphere, and great location next to the old World's Fair.

Paul O'Brien

Saw the Ramones exhibit here. Terrific. Good excuse to visit the wonderful borough of Queens.

Dockery Tokarz

An excellent place to spent your day well and worth every moment of your day. Must recommend!

Gary Schnaper

Great place! Give it a try!

Danni Michaeli

The panorama is awesome! Good programming for kids. Beautiful setting.

Carolina Moirano

Beautiful museum where you can see New York City in miniature, and it has a beautiful and big green space outside where kids can play. We already went twice and would go again. We really liked and enjoyed it!

Bryan Wang

Family friendly spacious exhibits! Definitely check out the informative panaromic shot of New York.

Joseph S

Nice smaller museum with some interesting displays, they also have a small cafe which is the only place around to get coffee or tea

James GABOUREL

Awesome Park. Home of the US Open

Ariel Rosario
