A gem! Tucked away on the upper west side, this lovely home turned museum offers a serene & welcome change from the bustle of most NYC museums. You feel like you've stuck your head through the clouds at 14k feet on 107th street.
Most incredible artistry I may have ever seen.
(Translated by Google) First visit. Nicholas Lauricella was the first to know a person. The color of painter and self - proclaimed pacifist remains throughout the painting. It seems as if the country of origin Russia is in the communist revolution and it is probably hard to remain in the country, so it seems to travel to India and Tibet. Eventually ended in India. Museums You can appreciate unique works that are not so big. One of my absolute favorites!!! Very polite and informative staff! Also there’s an amazing beautiful one-of-a-kind atmosphere there, that followed me long after the actual visit)))
One of the best collection of paintings depicting mighty Himalayas done by Roerich are exhibited here in a very homely place. Though not very big in size the gallery is full of mesmerizing works by the renowned artist. Art lovers, Himalaya lovers and mysticism lovers do not miss this tiny little collection in a miss if you wink place. Timings are narrow and entry is by voluntary donation. I am glad i got an opportunity to see this museum.
Small yet inspiring museum. The music of their concerts is in an intimate atmosphere and by unimposing wonderful performers. My husband and l enjoyed them tremendously Rina and Moshe Schmidt
Impressed by this place. The canvas and things took me away to another era and another geography. Worth to experience .
Great exhibition and museum of Nikolai Roerich. Must see for all ages.
Roerich one of the remarkable artists of 20th century. This museum keeps his work and inheritance alive and exacable for people. Planning our next visit for some events that will take place in this museum!
Included as a must in our NYC museums tour. The smallest visited, but the most emotional.
I love the Nicholas Roerich Museum. If you are a fan of beautiful, spiritual and mystical paintings, this place should be visited. I found out about Nicholas Roerich through articles connected through one of my favorite authors, Torkom Saraydarian. I love the works of art because they have spiritual significance, and they all tell a story. One of my favorite pieces is the mother of the world. It's a painting of the divine mother surrounded by angelic beings and coated in beautiful tones of blue and violet colors. Depicted with an energy of light emanating from her head and body. Stunning! This place has been on my bucket list of things to do, so I was happy to be able to visit it while in New York. There's also a store inside the museum where you can purchase prints of Nicholas Roerich's paintings as well as his books. The volunteers were also friendly and very helpful considering it's free entry (or a $5 donation). Be sure to check it out!
I’m so glad this is here in NYC. A well planned space with a great collection. Knowledgeable and very kind staff.
Small quaint museum, perfect for visiting if you're nearby during exploring the north Broadway
For someone who likes an art it is a place to visit. Free admission, voluntary donations.
A must see museum, cosy and energezed, with 150 vibrant paintings and free concerts on Sun.
Small but great museum to spend an hour or two. Beautiful, hypnotic, bold artwork from a painter I had never heard of before.
The Roerich collection was wonderful and the very knowledgable woman at the desk was lovely. Both gems!
A pilgrimage to one of the modern masters. The Mother of the World on the second floor is not to be missed in NYC. Pick up a pin and support Pax Cultura.
What a great “find”. Check it out,
Absolutely amazing museum in the heart of Manhattan. A must visit!
Clean place, friendly staff.
I almost never post reviews, but I had to because of how lovely my experience here was. A very warm, inviting place that will leave you amazed.
One of my favorite museums in the city! Unbelievable paintings and colors; also, wonderful staff. I love their little shop downstairs with Roerich's posters- they make a great gift!
A hidden gem in NYC on the upper west side ~ the paintings speak to the heart.

a must see
Wonderful museum!
Out with my wife and son on a recent sunny day and my wife decides to surprise me. At lunch she calls the Roerich museum and asks if the museum is accessible and is told yes. She asks again, specifying that we have an infant in the stroller. She is told, yes, there is an elevator. So, we walk over and are met in the lobby (after carrying the stroller with our sleeping son up the exterior stairs) and told we should leave our sleeping child in the stroller, in the lobby. When my wife mentions that we called, moments ago, a call is made and "someone will come get you." We are walked down a narrow corridor and shown to an elevator. Just as we are getting in a gaunt man starts berating the women assisting us. Not talking to me, or my wife mind you. "This is wrong, no, no, they can leave the kid in the lobby." I'm a fan of the artist. I've worked with the foundation that brought some of his works on a recent tour... would never set foot here again. Disgusting people. Takeaways: The building is five stories. Stairs only. If you call ahead, assume the person you're speaking to doesn't know what they're talking about. Plan accordingly.
Little gem, one of my favorite artists. Free entry!
Inspiring!
Definitely worth a visit!!
Always
Very helpful director..Good ..
Nicholas Roerich Museum is a little hidden gem. His landscape paintings are beautiful and the collection is very well arranged.
Fantastic museum for those that have eyes to see & ears to hear. I highly recommend it for a traveling man searching for answer.
An amazing museum, similar to Frick gallery, but more intimate. It feels like a real home of an artist rather than a museum. You get to be so close to the real masterpieces that fill the space. As a big fan of Roerich’s artistic style, I find the whole experience magical. And small concerts on Sunday (free btw) will take you back some 150 years adding to this experience.
Small museum with the work of a Russian painter who spent a lot of time in Nepal. An interesting collection.
Wonderful museum, well worth checking out!
Small, interesting, intimate museum
One if my favorite museums in the world. Has a unique collection of beautiful masterpieces by Nicholas Roerich, an outstanding Russian artist and philosopher. This museum also hosts classical music concerts on Sundays during wintertime.
What a hidden gem! So cool and interesting. I was pleasantly surprised. Roerich's art is so unusual, the more you study the pieces the more you see, amazing. Also, the gallery is so relaxed, sit and enjoy.
Pleasant atmosphere, very knowledgeable.
some of his most transcendent pieces on display At this quaint townhouse - turned museum. A superbartist and worth a visit
Beautiful little museum with his paintings of Himalayas. First time to learn about this artist and his work. Definitely worth a visit if you’re nearby.
