REVIEWS OF New York Transit Museum IN New York

Neville Li

Small museum with many old train cars. Interesting art/ads throughout the last century.

Greg Rosenberg

I knew I would enjoy the New York Transit Museum, I just didn't realize I would enjoy it as much as I did! This museum is located in and out of use subway station. The exhibits start from zero and works its way through how the city's transits system is today. I enjoyed seeing the history of the tokens used as payment, the old turnstiles and all the old train cars. I found it interesting that the older cars had more comfortable seats. Take your time walking through the old cars and pay attention to the advertisements.

Daisy Rosa

Come enjoy bring lunch. The employees are amazing. I brought my mom and grandson and my ex-husband we had tons of fun. So will you.

Michelle Mascioli

My son loved this place - boys and their trains. Lots of old subways and cool stuff to see... Kids will dig it.

Ipshita Datta

Having lived in New York for a few years now, I have gotten to love/hate the subway in the same breath. It was refreshing to go back in time and watch the carriages evolve with the years since 1915. The entry fee is $10 and it's definitely worth it. It would take you ideally about 1.5 - 2 hours to completely go through the museum. The museum details the painstaking journey the labourers and architects went through to create the backbone in the city. You get to learn that there were more subway lines than that exist now. Most of these lines were dismantled in 1955 due to reduced demand and ambitious real estate drives. Also intriguing are the ads that used to run during those times, these ads have been immortalized in the old subway carriages. One can also see the subway carriages dating back to 1915. Its interesting to see how the jute seats evolved to metallic ones. A very thorough map of the subway system. Loved the museum.

Morris Jones

Look carefully for the entrance! $5 for seniors (over 62)

Rachel I

This museum is fabulous. You can see samples of the different train cars and exhibits about how they built the subway system. It's inside an abandoned subway station making it an authentic feel when you enter as you have to walk down the stairs to the booth to pay. They have security and a cute gift shop. Parking is an issue here. Be prepared!

wallyjq

Absolutely love the New York Transit Museum! Great piece of NY history in those tunnels. Prices are very affordable. Kid friendly. Gift shop has some cool items. Visited a few years ago and just recently went back for the holidays; well worth it. Would recommend for ALL ages!

Jo Lee

This place was really interesting. To be able to touch and walk through train carriages that were used over a 100 years ago was special.

Subhani Dharmasena

A great place to visit if you are interested in NYC subway and public transportation. It carries so much information. The museum itself is s subway station making it a fascinating experience. A collection of subway cars from old to new can be found here. It’s not crowded. My 10 year old train fanatic had a really good time.

Daniel Hewett

Small but surprisingly enjoyable (and affordable) museum. I was hoping they’re have a subway car covered in graffiti but little niggling point considering how well curated it is otherwise. Great for families and adults will have no problem getting into the guts of the fascinating historical aspects.

Elizabeth Whiting

An interesting museum built in an old subway station in Brooklyn where you'll learn about the history of the NYC transit system and how the tunnels were made. Be sure to go downstairs to the old subway platform where you can experience train cars throughout the ages. This is a great spot for kids with lots of interactive activities - plus, what kid doesn't love trains?!

Tiny L

This was an amazing trip however little pricey to return. I would definitely recommend itfor trips just keep in mind the price and price for gift shop with small children. Children under 5 should be free and the cafeteria should be open.

Pearl Gibbs

Alot of history. Was nice to feel and touch trains from long ago

Daniel Santiago

Its a nice place for kids. Bring your own food foe your lottle ones and yourself at the back thetes table s ya could sit down and relax.

Ben T

Great place to visit See some old train cars and the history off the subway being built

Shannana Jo

Such a cool museum for a public transit nerd like me. I wish I had saved more time for the train cars downstairs--you can walk through and get the full experience.

Csongor Varga

I am glad we made it to the museum. It was great way to learn about the history of the New York transit system. Having the museum is an old station gives it a nice atmosphere. I like subway systems, I would have likes to learn a bit more about how express and regular services are arranged, how the 4 track sections are used where are th yards, etc. But I understand that is not in interest of the general public. The preserved signal box is also a nice touch.

Kanu Suguro

This place is cooler than you'd imagine. The vintage trains with all vintage adverts are fascinating to experience. They also have coin era turnstiles too.

Andrew Morris

Super fascinating and underrated museum!!! If you're a transit nerd like me this place is an invaluable wealth of knowledge about the history and development of the largest transit network in the country. So much to learn about from historic maps, token displays, comics, construction designs, and all highlighted by the historic railcars you can enter on the lower level. And for only $10? Make it a priority to stop by!

Nancy Hernandez

A very nice family activity and experience. It is on the smaller side of a museum but would still recommend. Don't forget to go to the gift shop! It's really nice as well.

FRANK RYAN

Not for everyone but if you have any interest in NYC transit, this place is a must see. Housed in an actual former transit station, it has a great collection of transit cars going back more than 100 years plus tons of other memorabilia. Good for kids and best of all, it's free!

Jeremy Reidy

Didn't know what to expect coming in. But what a fun museum. Loved learning about the history of NYC transit!

Mitzi Martinez

Never thought I would like it as much as I did!! You can jump on all different MTA cars from different decades. Its fascinating to see how they changed in time and publicity of the time is still there!! Its like traveling in time!!

kiel herrin

Always loved coming here as a kid when I used to live in Florida and came here on summer vacations. As an adult I finally got to experience apart of my childhood once again. It was great to see so many people still loves this place and as a person who loves trains like me, I will definitely be back there again.

Ani Lynch

Really an AMAZING museum to go to with your freinds. Take pictures as well as learn something new at the same time as having fun. I really enjoyed myself

petric shone

Museum displays historical artifacts and it’s one of the best place in New York to visit with family. It’s really cool to see all the old subway cars and to walk through and actually sit on the seats. Lots of rich history here. Take a chance and must visit.

Katelyn Meyer

So fun! Very readable seniors are feee in Wednesday’s!! The kids loved it and it was really nice!

Daniel Berndt

Awesome place. If you love anything transit and the history of it, this is THE place to check out.

Leonardo Torres

I haven't been here since I was in the 3rd grade. It's nice to see the history of NYC mass transit and to go down memory lane.

Lissette Santiago

Beautiful place to visit with the kids they will enjoy going there

Eva Perez

I Love it i remember ride the train when i was a little girl. And the memories came back . i love riding the train with my dad and sometimes with my mom. Great times

Captain Scarlet

Very few museums like this in the world. A great education.

HelloLilKitty1

Exciting place for a visit for the young and old. There are not only actual trains but there's also the history. If you take the time to read everything it will take you over 2 hours. But if you just walk through and you're not really into reading and it's a rainy day, it'll take you about an hour. There are also buses for those who love those that were from yesterday's. There are several actual buses that you can hop into and pretend to drive. Quite a bit of fun.

Jessica

Great for all ages. Definitely an exciting museum for children who love trains. Admission price is fair.

Nick Pizza

This museum is great for all ages. Children to adults alike. I've worked on transit projects which probably added to the appeal, but it was extremely informative and unique. Friendly staff as well. Highly recommend

Will Griffith

Went to the NYTM Bus Exhibition today, wanted to thank the museum and the great staff/volunteers. A truly special morning! Can't wait to visit the full museum!

Tim Hoffman

It shows the complicated workings of the New York Subway system. You can even walk through the vintage subway cars. Very affordable

Kieran Terry

Brilliant museum with really interesting and informative displays. Good value for money at just $10 for an adult admission. Fascinating history and facts around the museum. Downstairs is a display of old subway train carriages that you can walk in to. Shame it’s not right in the middle of Manhattan as more people would visit but well worth the trip to Brooklyn

Sarah Breamil

As a native New Yorker, this museum holds a special place in my heart. love learning about the history, construction, and design of the greatest transportation network in the universe! So well done. Even my family enjoyed it...

Amanda Rodriguez

It was great learning the history of transit. Best museum I yet seen. My family and I enjoyed entering all the trains made in the 1900's.

Frederic Bouchon

Very interesting museum. Loads of information and artefacts about the evolution of public transport in NYC. A good way to learn more about the city's history. Also the place is a former subway station, so boarding old trains means experiencing the city in the 1920s and later. Very welcoming staff.

Maria Tonellato

This museum is really interesting for kids and adults, well worth the time and money!

Dennis O'Connell

Authentic & astonishing! Definitely worth a visit if you’re interested in seeing what makes the city tick underground. The gift shop has tons of fun transit themed gifts too.

Anthony Botta

Great museum to see all the transit history

Bruce Crutchfield

The New York Transit Museum was nice. A lot of historical things that related to the workers and the trains. This transit museum is about the beginning of New York City's transit system. The men worked hard to make one of America's city transit one of the best and greatest transportation system. Go and give it look. You might be interested in what you learn about NYC Transit's past. Great for tourists to check out and great for families all across America to come see. My dad and I enjoyed it.

Eugene Delacroix

I love trains and this museum is great. Only complaints were lack of A/C and slightly cramped conditions, as the museum is in a historic subway station. Also beware as this museum is very popular with small children, which can be slightly frustrating. Some of the information is also laid out in a slightly cumbersome fashion. But I do love this museum and would recommend it to all New Yorkers and fans of trains.

Michael Swanson

Super interesting, well done. Use of old subway station very unique.

Steven Smith

I visited with my toddler, who loved the whole experience. Getting to hop on and off all the subway cars and sit in the driver's seats of the buses, they were very chuffed. To top it all off, there was a train set to play with in the lunch room, which was a big hit. I also very much enjoyed seeing the evolution of the subway cars through the years. I was really fascinated with the advertising displayed in the cars, which really gave an insight into live during the years the cars were in operation.

Luisanna Contreras

It’s a great museum for children who are interested in trains. They have a great education program for children as well. I will highly recommend this place.

Lucais Horsley

The transit museum (it is in Brooklyn!) is a real treat and it was a great surprise. I happened to see it on the map and decided to go, why not? Well worth it! The real treat is the display of older subway cars on the lower level - which is still a live track. The museum itself is built into a decommissioned station which adds a special ambiance to the museum. A visit to Brooklyn should include this museum.

Theresa C

Place is awesome and a real time warp with a ton of info and interaction for kids. If you love trains and train history you'll love this place can be pretty hot in summer so be aware!

Laura Nemeth

One of the best museum experiences in New York. Very interactive and fun! They were also super kind and went above and beyond for my wife because she lost her phone. Amazing people!

Sara Jarrett

This museum was the most dense and beautiful. There is so much to look at and learn! Each room you find almost overwhelms the mind, and the exhibits are quality pieces. I feel the need to go back to catch what I could have missed! Highly recommend visiting.

Elisa Lopez

Great reminder of how fortunate we are to have such an extensive public transportation system! Love the vintage trains, old maps and gift shop. Residents should use the library's culture pass to get free tickets

Alesia Selezneva

Great interesting museum, perfect if you're into trains, subway and New York history. It's not that big. The best part for me was resting in old cars looking at vintage ads. There was extreme amount of yelling kids and soon I got tied. If you're not a fan of loud kids, bring your fave oldie style music and earphones :)

Ashley Pritchett

This is hands down the best museum that you can see in Brooklyn! It’s $10/person, which is an amazing value for all the cool things you get to see. The museum is deceivingly large. You’ll start with the history of the subway (how it was built, mechanisms, and the groups of people and their roles). Then you’ll go into a larger room that goes into the history and evolution of the tracks and routes of the subway. In my opinion, the best is downstairs! You’ll see lots of real life examples of the subway cars with little blurbs about their history and period of use.

meir hecht

Lots of history good memories for the older generation and a great learning experience for young and old!!

Jim Martel

One of the coolest museums I've ever been to. Highly recommend!

Andrew Bolduc

Staff was all friendly, exhibits are sufficiently informative for transit nerds, but there's also enough color and interactive options to keep kids pretty well entertained for a bit. Had a blast with my nephew. The entrance is a retired subway stop, so don't walk right by it three times like I did. Really adds to the atmosphere to be taken underground for the duration. There's a clean and sizeable 'lunchroom' area in back which is appreciated, but no food available for purchase. Would be nice to see even a couple of vending machines or something. It won't occupy your whole day like a trip to some of the larger NYC museums, but it's a great way to spend a few hours if you're nearby.

K M

This museum is full of history and vintage artifacts to check out. It tells you about the work that went into making these trains, and there are many old trains, posters, and other items to see. It's got a good atmosphere; the space is clean and well designed, and I had a fun time walking through the museum. Getting to actually sit inside some of the older train models was one of my favorite parts.

Daniel lopez

A trip back in time, very reasonable and access to a lift for the walking impaired. Great team/ staff, willing to assist.

dominika oliver

This is an inexpensive museum to go to with a ton of stuff. My partner loves trains and I really don't, but they had some comics featuring the subway that I could get behind. I think of you're looking to pad out a day, this museum if pretty great!

Devon Mo

Great for transportation enthusiast and thoughs looking to know the history of the Brooklyn/NYC subway system

Janet Lui

This is a must go museum. Kids love it and adults as well. I was surprised to see the variety of transit myself. However, it was very hot in certain areas that are not healthy for kids. Overall, it is a good place to visit.

Thomas Sætveit Jensen

A bit of a gem, and bigger than you'd think. Very well designed and packed with interesting information and exhibits, including a large collection of actual subway cars through the years. Pay special attention to the ads in the old cars.

Stephanie S

Very enjoyable museum. Lots of interesting history to learn. I spent about 1.5 hours going through museum.

shaina kohan

So fun and educational to see the trains and where they came from

Kristin Brostrom

Great exhibits with info on subway Construction, token history, the evolution of the current math cam and of course the transition from horse-drawn trolleys to our current system. It also has a great gift shop at the museum and at Grand Central Station. Lots of fun!

Alexander Atkinson

As a transit enthusiast this museum was spectacular and dazzling. It’s located in an old subway station and boasts numerous maps, artifacts, signs, and other exhibits. There’s a set of tracks on a real train platform that has full size subway cars from different eras that you can walk inside and sit. The advertisements in the subway cars also match the era they are from. Extensive details about how the subway was constructed and how it evolved over time.

Jimmy Rodriguez

This was one of my favorite experiences when I visited NYC. I found it very interesting to find information on how the subways were made and how it has improved/changed since it first got put to service.

Growling Motors

Awesome Place! I Love To See Historical Trains, Staff Was Awesome Too!

Joey Basta

It was so cool to learn the history behind the train systems of NYC and beyond. Loved the entrance to this Museum. The tour guide was super friendly and extremely knowledgeable about all the history. I reccomend going.

Morgan Baly

I’ve been to some unique train museums, so believe me when I say that this one has got to be one of the most interesting I’ve seen. How many major cities of the world can boast a museum of this caliber within their borders? Not many, I can tell you. With the selection they have at the museum, you can spend quite a long time here

Stephanie Paquet

What a wonderful visit we had! Located in an old subway station, you can follow the whole journey to the construction of NYC transit system in the late 1800s/early 1900s to today, photos, videos... And then you can visit many of the old wagons and even ENTER! Wow!

mimi tann

Nicely laid out exhibits. A real steep back in time going into the old subway cars. If you are 62 and over admission is free on Wednesday. Great deal and a lot of fun.

Galyna Shulimova

Nice museum! Get the touch to the history of the NYC trains and have fun . Even small kids will be happy there.))

Tom W

A very well put together museum. A bit smaller than I expected but still very worth your time if you're in the area

Paul LoBue

Five stars if you're a train fan or a parent with young kids. For the kids there are hands on displays (be the bus driver, drive a train simulator- when available) and activities. The best part is the lower platform with restored subway cars through the ages.

Luis Fonsi

Very interesting museum. I was for the first time in this museum before 2 week and I find out very interesting things. I am sure that if you have free time you can check it out and find something that can impress you. A lot of cool locations around this location if you get hungry or if you want a drink.

Carol Adams

An eye opening history of NY through the prism of the transit system. Trains, culture, history, poetry, and more. Great place for all ages. Highly recommend.

V Kendrick

This was an excellent place. The history and the future. Wonderful to see how progress has come. A must see. Don't buy the souvenirs. Wednesdays are free for seniors.

Alan Mathiowetz

There was quite an enjoyable selection of old railroad cars downstairs. They were in pristine condition and it was fun to see the old ads lining the interior of the cars. The old toll turnstiles were fun to see as well. The rest of the museum was small and moderately interesting, with a good history of the early days of the subway. I loved that the entry of the museum looked like a typical subway entrance.

Lisa Hoskins

Incredible history of New York trains and buses, the building of the tunnels and train stations, historical maps, and actual old subway cars with the original advertisements! What a walk through the past. They even have the front cans of two old buses.

James Murphy

You don't need to be a railfan or a youngster to enjoy this museum. This museum exists at the intersection of design, science, hard labor, art, history, and civil engineering. They have a broad swath of several generations of subway railcar in the lower level, as well as a few work vehicles and locomotives. Photos very much allowed. Mind the admission fee, which is $10 for adults.

Alan Varghese

Great museum which gives the rich transit history of New York from the early 1800 till today. Filled with various time lines and metro cars over the ages which can be accessed easily and see the advertisements over the ages. There are a few things to do as well in the museum for kids and adults alike.

Kevin Torres

A really fun and informative museum. Totally cheap ($10) and lasts like two hours. Best part is going to the subway platform and checking out all of the old train cars.

Brianna Lowe

Great for kids and adults. Learned a lot of history of the NYC subway systems, maps, and so much more. Super family friendly.

Charlie Tate

I work in rail and transit outside of NY/US so I was interested in visiting to learn some to history. A lot of the information is very repetitive and there could be more interactive/technology based stuff. Good option for a raining day if you’re staying in Brooklyn

Luke W

Awesome place if you're looking for something to do in the city while not breaking the bank!

Cereal & Fruit Snacks

This place is very informational and fun. It was nice to be able to go into the exhibits of old transit vehicles. The clothes they have in the gift shop are beeaaauuutiful.

Lois Karnol

Just love this museum. Shows the birth of the system all the way through its current configuration and future trends. I have a greater appreciation for it and took my kids here. Great piece of NY history!!

David Mayer

Wonderful museum captures the history of transporting the people of New York! Many lovingly restored Subway cars!!

Cherishe Cumma

The New York Transit Museum, located on 99 Schermerhorn Street in Downtown Brooklyn, is an intricately designed compilation of transportation technology. This technology ranged from standard train cars to the more luxurious forms of transportation like high end train cars with cushioned seats and leather straps hanging from the ceiling of the train for standing passengers. Within each exhibit there is a little bit of history about how the development of transit began and the innovations created to keep people safe who chose to use public transit. This is museum is more than just organized exhibits that are used to display a specified timeline which is hidden behind inches of glass. Rather, this museum is a real life sized interactive experience that you have to see to believe. After visiting this museum and absorbing the knowledge that each exhibit provided, I can honestly say that I urge all New Yorkers in the downtown area to give this museum a shot.

HeyRay

This was a really neat place to check out. The entry price was fair. I wish I had of asked if they had an audio guide because unfortunately I couldn't read everything I wanted to due to my vision. But it looked awesome and went to in depth detail about a lot of stuff. I wish I could have read and learned about all of it.

Joanna Ross

Wow! What a hidden gem in BYC! A very affordable museum that was the caked with tones of interesting things from the entirety of the MTA’s history! I’d HIGHLY recommend making the easier than expected trek. Heads up the entrance is actually a subway vestibule- it’s hard to miss! Look carefully!

Monica Vilcu

Another interesting spot for children in New York is the New York Transit Museum. Is a museum that displays historical artifacts of the New York City Subway , bus and commuter rail systems in the greater New York City metropolitan region. The museum is located in Downtown Brooklyn. You can go with children starting from 3 y.o. They have a lot of fun for at least one hour.

EricTheMTABusfanner JohnyShowsYesZeroPointNo

This is very cool! I went there as for my field trip in 2nd Grade! We took tour of it, and it was very awesome and fun! Plus, in the store, They have MTA Bus/Subway Train Toys, Books, Shirts and more! There were old trains & an RTS MTA bus. It’s cool, and soon I’ll go there again! Nice work, Dude!

nan c

Love looking at the old school subway trains. Must bring the kids, they'll have a good time.

Anne Fernandena

We went any way even though it was a hot day outside. Inside the museum was comfortable everywhere. This museum does a great job of telling an amazing story. How the subway and transit system came to be the engineering marvel that it is. There are real trains on the track to show the progression of cars and technology. This museum was a working subway station and so it perfectly represents the history and progression. Please do visit this station, it is amazing.

Evelyn Martinez

Visiting this museum was such a great experience! I went early around 11am/1130am and it wasn’t too crowded on a Tuesday. My friend and I had lots of fun taking photos and walking through what is really a life-sized time capsule. 10/10 recommend to New Yorkers who haven’t been and tourists!

Mark Adams

I really enjoyed my visit to the Transit Museum which is in Brooklyn in an old subway station. The history of the construction is fascinating and, interestingly in these troubling times, really emphasises that America was built by slaves and immigrants. Seeing the old style subway cars with their period adverts is a great way to chart design through the ages. Well worth the $10 entry.

Rémi Pichon

It's in a real metro station with a bunch of old metro cars, really cool

Kenneth Chan

This was fun. You gotta be a bit of a transit lover to find this offbeat ode to the subway system. But if you recall tokens fondly and remember wooden turnstiles, the transit museum will make you smile. The employees though are a pretty depressing lot. Bored and cynical crew. Except for the gift shop people, they were pros.

Eileen BRODERICK

Took my students and had a great time. Lived the old trains and it is housed in an old subway station. Great day.

Ezra The Derpy Derp Melon

Great museum and a good place to go for an afternoon or just a quick stop. The exhibits are detailed and everything there is wondrous and organized! It is a perfect place for a family trip, especially downstairs where you can go into old trains.

Room Class

Wow this place is really fantastic. Amazing things to see here!! This is a great place to stay and also a nice place to look at and take photographs on a very sunny day too.

Regina Alvarez

This little museum is jam packed with history, and real subway trains from decades ago! I learned so much about how the subways were built and run! It is a gem in the city!! More people both locals and tourists should check it out!! Well worth the stop!! And the staff was very nice and helpful!

Lori Adeniyi

Great place to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon. My preschooler loved it and asks me to come back every weekend. It’s really cool to see all the old subway cars and to walk through and actually sit on the seats. Lots of rich history here. Take a chance and visit.

Barbara S.

I had a walk back time and loved it.

Romi's World Full Of Busses

I had a fun time here with My Family

David Dibello

Always something new. Great exhibits. The old subway cars on the lower level are awesome with their original advertising.

Chris Hester

My son and I loved this museum. Walking in and out of all the old subway cars and seeing the old advertising was the coolest part for us.

Yamil Tenorio

This museum is a wonderful place to see many equipment from the subway that isn't seen anymore. They have showings of how the first subway was built, all of the old trains that are on the tracks that your able to enter without any problems, the many turnstiles that are near the end of the exhibits, and the museum store. It is a wonderful place to go spend an entire day if you have, and I highly recommend it.

Robert Ayzin

Everybody loves the Transit Museum, regardless of how old you may be, or where you're from. I first visited in 1994 as a student and I return often. Great educational experience and enthusiastic staff. They also hold unique events throughout the year. Tremendous fun for everyone!

Larry Reese

As a lifetime transit buff this was one of the best experiences I had while visiting New York. History will maintain gives us a nice look into what life was like years ago. The fact that they were able to repurpose a subway station added to the field. Excellent photo opportunities abound and a wonderful place to bring along the kids. Enjoy!

Mickey Bennet

I love going to museums but this completely blows the rest out of the water. They have so many historical artifacts of the NYC Transit system, plenty of interactive things to play with, and the best part is all the different trains you can go on in the old subway platform underneath.

Yul Yul

Excellent museum about the history of the NY metro! If you like old school stuffs and want to time travel, you should definitely have a look.

Cosmic Heretic

The historic trains are like time machines that feature terrific period accurate advertising.

J. Banda

Amazing gem of a museum for all including adults and children.

Quorra Keating

Excellent Museum-- interactive for children to enjoy & pretend. The old train cars are underground, lined up on the track. So awesome.

AntoineLouella Ortaliz

My toddler son loved it here. He keeps telling me that he wants to come back again.

Helen Yang

So quirky and fun, great date spot if you’re into unconventional activities

Eric House

Lots of great information about the building of the metro system in NYC. Starts with the building of the subway system, but includes lots of other information about the whole metro system. Downstairs is more than 2 dozen old subway cars you can walk through. Including ads from the appropriate era. I'm not a train geek but enjoyed it all the same.

Michael Koeppen

Wonderful trip down NYC's memory lane! Fun, informative and historical!

Jess Yeend

Really interesting little museum. The transit systems keep NYC moving so well worth a visit for locals and tourists alike. Don't forget to go downstairs to check out all the train cars through the years!

Balázs Szakács

Informative and entertaining at the same time for both adults and children.

Dorina Enes

If you are interested in history, transit, or both you'll enjoy this museum. It was $10 for entry and is open for exploration. The entrance looks like a subway stop but is clearly marked. There are several exhibits with clearly marked placards and historical items. There is also a great area for children to play. They have trains from several areas on display which provide a hands on view of how designs have changed over the years. If you are looking for any souvenirs they have a small store with trains, books, maps, clothing, and more.
