REVIEWS OF National Museum of Mathematics IN New York

Dennis F

Good visit for young kids for a few hours. Lots of interactive exhibits they enjoy.

Adriana Warinsky

A math museum that is actually engaging and fun! Even my son loved it -- and he hates math. It actually did a great job of providing real life applications of the subject. Bravo!

fs pedron

A very unique place. A must see if you're interested in anything math related. Lots of interesting little puzzles and info. A small, compact museum, but lots of fun.

Paul Rossiter

Had a great time with my 7 year old daughter here. She loved riding the bike with square tires.

Elena Ka

Very cool place. It turns to a nightmare when there are field trip for middle and high school. In this case you get to see nothing. I wish there were separate time slots for school field trip and regular visiters.

Nathan Daugherty

For what it is, I guess I'd give it 4 stars. I'm only giving this 3 stars because it's not clear, at least from the name, that this is a very kid-centric place. I was expecting an actual museum on math, talking about all the different mathemeticians and how they contributed to the field. But no, kids playing games to vaguely learn math. Maybe call it the National Children's Learning Center for Mathematics. Then again maybe you are the kind of person who looks at the website before going to a place. Unlike me.

Luke

Englishman in New York! Interesting place ... But to be honest the whole thing does not quite add up for me! That said it will be great for young minds to get them interested in mathematics not just for school but for life! And you know what ... That always adds up to a good idea.

Subhani Dharmasena

This museum is a nice place for kids to experience mathematic concepts through activities. It was bit crowded when we visited on a Saturday afternoon and had to wait to try certain activities .It has lots of activities you can try. It may be boring for s person not interested in math. Good for kids.

OLIVIA DARTLEY

The NMOM is conveniently located near Madison Square Park. On two floors, the museum offers an expansive, diverse array of fun, educational games and activities. Despite this, though, the specific connection to a math concept isn't always made clear... so oftentimes, one doesn't know WHY an activity they're doing relates to mathematics. The games, for the most part, are for younger kids (up to 10 years old). Still an awesome experience, though!

Zella H

I thought this was a real hidden gem of a museum - it's really fun, highly interactive, and really inventive, with exhibits exploring lots of concepts I haven't seen in museums before. A great place to bring kids for sure, but also fully entertaining for at least an hour for a couple of adults without kids. This is a great place to bring visiting friends who have already been to the more "mainstream" museums.

Larry Mayberry

Great interactive museum for kids or all ages. Two floors jam-packed with fun exhibits that teach math concepts on all levels. Most have descriptions that are catered to different abilities do each child can learn something more complicated as they grow.

N S

Total failure! Overpriced for what it is! Manager wouldn‘t allow us to return Tickets even one minute after purchase!Never experienced such a thing ....

Jonathan Epstein

Great that it exists at all. They did a nice job making the exhibits so informative and also fun

Christina Nunyabizness

I chaperoned for my son's 6th grade field trip and everyone had a BLAST! This interactive math Museum is a MUST SEE! The guides were awesome with answering all the kid's questions. Gift shop a LITTLE pricey but...that's the city. My son and I will definitely be returning to the MoMath Museum with his siblings.

Phoebe Burnham

2 great floors of interactive math! Great for any ages, field trips and more. They are wheel chair and crutch friendly

Michele Hammock

I wish I would have had more time here, it's definitely a place to spend many hours. Literally something to intrigue everyone, from young to old. I will be back!!

David Packer

Went with my nephews from out of town. They enjoyed it but, then again, it doesn’t take too much to keep kids entertained. Was a cool museum but I felt like a lot of the exhibits—while entertaining for kids—were a stretch to apply to math or at least to math they would understand. It was also very expensive for what was offered. At a lower price, I would have less qualms.

AMINE OLIVEIRA

You learn a lot doing fun things

Quan Masiello

Love this place. So much fun for my 10 years old daughter.

Scott Sutherland

We noticed this museum near our hotel and went to check it out. Wasn’t expecting much, but it’s really a great, interactive, engaging museum. My son enjoyed it very much and a quick visit turned into a couple hours of fun.

Bishen Chhatwal

Great fun for children, but there is not much to do there, especially for the steep price of entry.

Camila Silva

I loved the museum of mathematics, is well thought and has adequate games for every age. So simple for kids to start loving maths and the more complicated for adults. My parents are mathematicians and I grew up in a house full of math and logic games to solve, I didn't really knew I was using maths while playing. This museum is great, and brought good memories back. I had so much fun

Renee G.

This is an amazing museum to visit for kids and adults alike. The exhibits are hands on ways to experience mathematical concepts. There are puzzles, tricycles, Music machines, magnets and origami. If you have a membership at a science museum with a reciprocal agreement, admission is free! It was educational, fun and there was beautiful origami art too (special exhibit).

imtiaz ahmad

Small but a nice place for people who like Mathematics and appreciate logical things.

Paul Dawe

Interesting math and physics interactive stations for all ages. Great place for young and old thinkers alike. Challenge your mind

Alan G

The museum is pretty fun with interactive exhibits, some of which require critical thinking which is nice. You definitely won't see some of this stuff anywhere else. It's a great place to go have some fun and get out of the heat (or cold). Recommend coming here if you live nearby! If you're a tourist, it'll still be a good experience to come if time allows.

Carla Ruiz

I really loved this place. It has a lot of games for children to enjoy. Worth the entrance payment.

David Faes

Tons of small details all over the place. Fun for all ages, my 6 year old wants to go back. Staff is friendly and will happily discuss math related to the exhibits if desired but does not push it.

Katerina Kobelkova

This is a great place, you can learn and and have fun and I think it's really cool

Wesley C.

It feels more like a "puzzle museum" than a math museum but it was still entertaining nonetheless.

Lea Simpson

Such a fun and interactive place and great for kids and adults

Charles Coqueret

It is a place for kids exclusively. There is hardly any activities to trigger adults curiosity.

Devante Hutchinson

Its fun and interactive letting you figure it out on your own. I recommend it for class trips grades 1 to 8

Vanessa Matus de la Parra

It was fun and nice, but too small for the price (considering two levels and some stands broken or not working properly). The workers were nice and the place was good looking. Maybe a little more of math would be better.

Marn-Yee Lee

Really nice space with engaging puzzles and patterns that bring out the beauty of math. I love that it is a fun place for kids.

RFSwolf Ent. llc

Time and money well spent. You should plan on spending a good 3 hours just as an introduction then immerse the kids several times to help the info stick.

Sivan Scheuer

We loved the concept but we're disappointed with the quality of exhibits and information provided. The museum was not very informative- mesning, it took forever to understand what where they trying to convey with each exhibit- unless you are able to ask one of the staff members for an explanation, it is pretty difficult to self guide yourself through the exhibits. We also had to stand in line for almost every exhibit. Didn't feel like it was very educational. Would rather spend my time going to a different STEM museum in NYC.

Rio Beetle

Very fun place especially for a math enthusiast. The entire museum is hands on, really makes you think. Big brainers are invited, ranging from kids to adults. There are 2 floors, and a small room to interact with puzzles/mirroring blocks.

Nick Satin

I'm a historian; I don't like math. But, I like MoMath. This is the second year I've chaperoned a field trip and it's a blast. There's enough to do to justify a trip and their classes are actually really fun and interesting, even to someone like me!

Benjamin Liechty

This is a fun place, it's really intended more for kids than I'd hoped. The exhibits are all very interactive and help give you new ways to look at things, which I enjoyed.

Josh Minsley

Awesome museum. Fun for a wide range of children to grown-ups! Really friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Andrea Schoeny

I liked the museum overall. I like math, logic, and hands-on learning. Some of the digital displays were not working and most of the staff were standing around talking to each other instead of being more active about offering help and info. It is clear that the staff knows a lot about the math behind the projects, but it was annoying to have to walk around looking for someone to answer my questions and feel like I was intruding on the staff's personal conversations...

Valencia Strohman

Awesome hands-on experience with various mathematical concepts!

Elizabeth Nichols

A truly wonderful treasure for children to explore and appreciate mathematical concepts without even knowing it!

Arnon Mordoh

Lots of activities. Fun for all

Lucais Horsley

Would recommend calling ahead to see if there will be school groups here when you want to visit - it gets REALLY crowded if there are school groups and difficult to try out the exhibits. They have many interesting and interactive exhibits. Staff was great at helping to explain mathematical topics and explain different aspects of the exhibits. Great for my 8 and 10 year olds. Especially liked the tricycles with square wheels. This museum is an ASTC museum.

Anthony Jack

Very small, overpriced with weak exhibits only suitable for kids. Gift shop is quite good, however.

Pei Lin Lu

Great experience with my friends, we went there as a school trip and this has been a wonderful experience to students and teachers all ages. Math is a subject that everyone needs to know and will need to know in the future when they grow up. They need to experience the world of math. This place is filled with math activities ranging from rocket basketball shooting to geometric shapes that you can put together to make something unique. The staff are extremely nice and offered to take tours around the whole place.Overall this place for me is a 10/10

Scott Monnin

Fun and interactive well worth 15$ best for 3rd through 8th grade this for all to do.

Chad Rot

Interesting exhibits, we liked some of the interacive items. However with some of the exhibits it was not clear what to do, there were no clear instructions. Other item were not available or missing parts so we could not experiment with them. Most of the guides were friendly, knowledgeable. Some of them seemed a bit bored... Overall it is a nice place with a lot of potential, some improvements are recommended.

cristina lobato

Fun but small. Wish it had a little bit more to see and do but what they have is interesting.

Christian Pasquel

The museum is small but has two floors with very interesting stuff. You don't have to be a math lover to enjoy the exhibitions. While some of them are more children oriented, many are very enjoyable as a common human. My favorite is the stroboscopic light sculptures that create an optical illusion of movement.

Tommy Mintz

Fun place to bring kids. Can get a bit crowded when big groups show up.

Jim Martel

Some exhibits not working. Don't feel it was worth the price

Tyrettln

Amazing wish I had one like this near me in the UK to take school groups too.

Matt Roy

Very cool place to visit with lots of interactive exhibits for guests of all ages. This museum is both educational and a lot of fun.

Michael Cannon

Fantastic. The exhibits range from wickedly clever fun to also just plain beautiful, delightfully bringing to light the maths in the everyday things as well as in the extraordinary. If maths classes were like this, the question "when am I going use this" would never even occur as one to ask.

Matthew Schermer

Very educational. Lots of fun math games. Most made me feel really stupid.

Eric Latawiec

Great for young kids, terrible for teenagers and adults. It should be called a “Math Playground” not a “Math Museum”. Young kids ages 6-10 are running around shouting and playing and it was incredibly difficult to actually enjoy the mathematical concepts on display in that kind of environment.

John Spoelhof

Plenty of fascinating interactive displays. Directions for how to interact with each site are limited which can be frustrating. Staff were present and helpful if approached but it felt like the facility needed better visual cues.

Elizabeth Faes

Lots of fun activities to do, our 5 year old loved it

Boris Khanikaev

Great place to see the other side of math. Great.

Clare Hovestadt

Very fun hands on and kid friendly. More suites for older kids

Lisa Crawford

W wonderfully unique experience. DD (19) is a math/science/art person, and this hit all of her buttons. Were she not predisposed to the subjects, I would recommend for the younger set, elementary and late elementary. Fwiw, I am preparing to teach fifth grade math and science this year and was hoping for some inspiration but was somewhat disappointed in that respect; that is not a fairly if the museum but rather expectations that might have been unreasonable.

William Stevers

Great place for the family, you should really try to spend at least 2+ hours here to fully read / experience everything!

Jimmy Nguyen

I absolutely loved my experience at MoMath. As a math teacher, I could envision so many potential connections to curriculum with students. As a math enthusiast, I saw an immense passion for math by the curators in the form of fun, engaging activities for math lovers and non-math people alike. I would highly recommend visiting especially if you have children, but it is also a welcoming place for adults. When you leave, there's a special challenge to attempt; spoiler alert--you probably won't succeed, but you will have fun trying nonetheless!

Rahul Mourya

Great place to learn mathematics. Knowledgable and friendly volunteers. Good place to shop stuff related to mathematics and physics. Very good place for kids having love towards maths.

KY Z

My child with special needs got discriminated there. I would give a zero star review if I can. We played at the solid room on the main floor. My child really liked the mirror dents table. We were the only two playing at the mirrors. My child was comparing with two mirror dents next to each other, putting different shapes in one dent and then moving the shapes to another, and saw different things happened. But the staff there somehow got upset, and took away whatever piece my child was playing with. So we moved to another hand-on activity table, building structure with sticks and balls. That staff became our surveillance hence. When we accidentally dropped the building material, it upset that staff and we were demanded to pick it up. We played nicely, but the table was slippery. Other people, even adults dropped things, too. But we got picked. The demand to pick up came even before the building material touched the floor. We have been to lots of museums, and never had any problems. Will never go there again.

Solange Tapsoba

Wonderful place for everyone who loves mathematics. Learning through fun.

Jon Perelstein

It's a nice little playground for kids, but if there was any "learning" they sure hid it well. For example, the Parabola. Press some buttons and something lights up, but no explanation of why or how or the mathematics behind it. Same with most of the other exhibits. Might as well have gone to an arcade and played ski-ball and such.

Jack Allen

Interactive museum with 2 floors of mentally stimulating activities and brain teasers. A number of the exhibits were out of order when we went but we still had a great time. Great place to take kids.

KeviN Martyn

Lots of hands on and maybe not so good for older adults.

Tamika Randolph

Great educational and entertaining museum!

Za'ira Murphy

Great place for the Children Our Kindergarten Scholars enjoyed running around trying out all the different forms of Mathematics

Mike Murkovic

Looked fun for kids. Not for adults. Not very big in there either.

Margerit Habib

Amazing. My kids love it and they loved the family event so much

Gary Middleton

Be prepared ... No intellectual loafers at this wonderful (literally) museum! The mathematical concepts won't be spoon-fed to you. But, if you bring your active thinking cap, the exhibits will meet you at your level. A couple of the docents took the initiative to check in with me to ensure I was having a proper experience at a couple of exhibits, and the MoMath visitor would benefit if more docents had a similar courage. The gift shop has books and puzzles, but should broaden their offerings. Overall though, an imaginative and amazing way to engage in mathematical concepts.

Angie

Best spent with kids who are curious about formations, games, explorations etc.

Kevin Butman Grijalba

An interesting place if you're into math. More than a place to go on your own, however, it is a place that is more enjoyable with family and friends. Many of the 'games' inside are not suitable for those going on their own.

• JayD3vo •

Yes, this place IS for kids. But seriously, you’re bigger then them. You can easily push them away. You’re an adult after all. It’s an amazing place of wonder and exploring no matter how old you are. I highly suggest going anyways. It can be busy and call ahead if time too make sure theee is no school’s there. Unfortunately the same day I went there was like 4 school districts but still super fun! I even solved a puzzle LOL

James Beltran

This is an interesting math museum with interactive math games and puzzles. Just know that is museum is really geared towards kids.

Екатерина Саецкая

Spent 35$ for tickets for myself and my 3 y.o.son, but we were disappointed that many exhibits were closed... or dysfunctional, I don’t know how it could be possible in the famous museum located in the heart of Manhattan?! And why visitors should pay full price if lots of museum stuff don’t work or closed. It’s not fair for sure, they must reduce price or Smth

Sofia Gomezllata

The museum is well done, but gets crowded and it is hard to do the activities when there are so many kids. It is also definitely a children's museum. An adult would enjoy it, but it is first and foremost tailored to children. The staff was polite but they are mostly there to make sure you are using the equipment correctly rather than explain the maths behind the exposition. I went in summer and the place was swarmed by summer schools, which made everything a but complicated as I had to navigate a sea of children that all wanted to do everything and assumed you were a boring adult that was cool with watching from the sidelines, even if you had been waiting for a while for your time to enjoy the activities. All in all, take you kids (under 8-12 would enjoy it the most) and they will love it. As an adult looking for a mathematical museum, it might not be the best option.

Carol Jacobs

I had long looked forward to taking my grandson to the museum. What we experienced was an astonishing number of exhibits that were either poorly conceived or were simply broken/nonfunctional. The directions, for example, of the robotics exhibit on the lower floor, were a disaster of incomprehensibility Four black cloth objects lie on the ground. NOONE was putting them on as backpacks, because there were no directions to do so. I called over a person who works there who told my grandson to put one on. He did. It was broken. He was told to put another on—which hardly functioned well as it was supposed to—with the robots following him. Moreover, the screen directions said something about dragging a green figure/person to something or other. There was no green figure and the description, therefore, made NO SENSE whatsoever. I asked another attendant who admitted the directions were not applicable. I could go on about this exhibit. There was an exhibit about ‘transfer’ with tubes and ping-pong like balls. Nothing was functioning. I called over someone else who worked there who said the thing would take five minutes to right itself – that this was rare, but it would be better in five minutes. I waited over five minutes and nothing got better. Harmony of the spheres: you are supposed to put your hand on the spheres and they are supposed to make a sound. Some of these do not work. I called yet another person over who admitted they don’t all work On the top floor one of the two bicycles with square wheels in the exhibit does not work. The people who work at the museum are kind and helpful and well informed. THEY SHOULD NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AT ALL FOR THE PROBLEMS WITH THE EXHIBITS. THEY WORK HARD AND ARE TRYING TO BE HELPFUL IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHOSE NEGATIVE ASPECTS ARE NOT THEIR FAULT AT ALL. I HESITATED WRITING THIS REVIEW LEST I GET ANYONE IN TROUBLE. STILL, I DID WANT TO INDICATE THAT I OFTEN ASKED FOR HELP IN ORDER TO SEE IF I WAS FAILING TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY. Enough examples… $32 for this experience and a wasted excursion with my grandson who was disappointed. I have never had such an experience…

Jillian Ellis

There is a lot more to do than what you might think! I took my niece who's favorite subject is math (I'm a math teacher so this warms my heart) and I originally expected to spend an hour or so there. We were there for 3 hours and probably could have stayed longer if we weren't hungry lol. You have the option of leaving the museum and coming back which is nice if you want to spend all day at the museum. There are tons of fun puzzles and activities to work on. The museum is good for math nerds like me, but someone who just appreciates puzzles (which in itself is math :) ) would have a good time as well!

Dan Cehanovich

Very nice well laid out place designed to explain the nuances of math. Lots of staff to explain the demonstrations and what you should be looking for. Went with a 10 and 12 year old and they both enjoyed it. It was fun watching some of the adults try and figure the stuff out while the kids were having no problems.

Sofi Berrio

It was so fun!! But I think that it was going to be different.

Roman D

Excellent exhibit for many areas of math and how they interconnect with the real world. Spectacular range of visual implementations of abstract concepts.

herrsiko

Fun for kids but many exhibits were broken. Too chaotic to be truly educational, but your kids will have fun.

Christina Joseph

I was misguided about this place. I would not call it a museum because i did not learn any history about Maths. It was mostly for children and did not offer much enjoyment for adults or any major historical learning experience. I thought I would learn about the great Mathematicians and how the world is fully based on maths and numbers but there was no history or fun facts at this place. I was bored and I found it a waste of money especially since I am majoring in Mathematics in university. It did not expand my mind or tickle my intelligence in any way. However the staff was informative and pleasant. It's a good place for kids.

Masih Ullah Safi

The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) is an award-winning museum that highlights the role of mathematics in illuminating the patterns and structures all around us. Its dynamic exhibits, gallery, and programs are designed to stimulate inquiry, spark curiosity, and reveal the wonders of mathematics. The Museum’s innovative exhibits will engage folks from 105- to 5-years-old — and even younger!

Rockstar. James

It is fun because you get to do hands on activities like basketball, 3D modeling, etc

Mathin3D

You know if someone with a username like mine gives a bad review about a "Math Museum," something must be heIIish wrong at the place. Who runs this place? Try creating some sections with mathematical substance, not just wishy washy stuff.

Lily Le-Sheppard

I took my sisters who were visiting from FL here. At first glance, it really doesn't seem like much. There's a lot of mathematics-driven activities that are pretty cool. I enjoyed seeing my sisters give the square-wheeled tricycles a whirl. The hands-on digital mural painting was a lot of fun as well. The greatest surprise is that there is the BASEMENT level that hides the really good stuff. There's a motion-sensor maze on the floor that you try to get blocks to their designated color slots. There's a ton of mind teaser puzzles to really give your noggin a work out. The wall of magnets is really fun too! It has magnet pieces that fit together regardless of the color. It's just a really cool place. I'm not a big math person and while I didn't take in all the mathematics behind the fun. I can definitely appreciate it.

Sameet Mehta

They have Mathematics that you can touch and feel. It's amazing experience. Will definitely visit again.

Pauline W

This is a great place for children and adults to play and get their creatives rolling. Math is the subject here and there are tons of things there to occupy you for hours. Great place to be. Highly recommended. You have to use your noodles to figure it out. But if there are many staffs there to help you if you are stuck. 5

Millie Sum

Not that many exhibits but the people that worked there were nice and knowledgeable. They had many interactive games to play. Wish it had more.

Zerlina Lin

Great place to bring your kids and teens. The museum consist of two floors. Each floor is quite small and packed with a lot of interactive activities. Perfect opportunity for kids to explore and be hands on with math. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. In the museum, there are no food and drinks allow.

Caitlyn Levy

Not a place to go if you dont have children. However lots of activities for the kiddos, probably really cool and alot of fun for them.

Louis Botha

Really cool! A good place to go for a day. There are cool toys that teach science principles and math principles. I learned a lot and had great fun using some of the exhibitions. Highly recommend visiting. Big bucket list place to go to.

Christopher Gamache

Smaller than I expected but fun. Lots of “hands on” things for kids. There were lots of 3 dimensional shapes to twist your brain around. Very complicated concepts presented to children. Most children will probably not appreciate the math. It is a good way to introduce shapes and the math behind the concepts.

Alma Otaño

Very funny and interesting. However, you should go with kids, even tho I enjoyed my experience a lot, it’s clear this place was completely meant to be for kids. I do not regret it, but I highly advise to don’t forget your kids, I felt like fish out of the water.

Izabella Pozo

This place is amazing. It's like a park and a museum at the same time. This is the best place for learning and having fun, so I recommend taking kids there.

Assaf Rezoni

It was educational and fun at the same time, and fun for all ages. It is fery I interactive and there is something for everyone. Written by a 12 year old daughter.

Jonathan Christensen

The museum is targeted toward 4th-8th graders, but our much younger children had a blast. My son says he wants a square-wheeled tricycle at home now. There are school groups visiting most weekday mornings during the school year, so plan to visit in the afternoon if you would prefer a less crowded experience.

Hillary-Marie Tap

I've been here many times for Math+Music. I love the program and the museum itself is really cool. A great place for kids AND adults.

Adam Segal-Isaacson

Great place for kids to explore how mathematics is involved in everything. Lots of activities for elementary through high school.

Jorge Picado

Cool place to spend a couple of hours inside. Good activities/games that will keep your kids entertained and or even you. Price is reasonable adults $18 and kids <12 y/o pay $15.

Ashley Appell

This was a fun place to go to, but not as big as we expected. And while we enjoyed ourselves, we found that for half of the experiments, either the puzzle was fun but not well explained (unless one of the guides was there) or the math was was explained but the activity was confusing.

al sh

This is a quaint little museum in Manhattan that pays a lot of attention to detail. There are often many people here, especially on weekends. There are frequently school trips to this museum. The area is quite small, however, so there isn't really too much to see. Visiting this museum takes 1-2 hours on average. Keep in mind, though, that the place can get a bit crowded, increasing lines.

heather mir

Don't go, it's absolute chaos, uncontrolled children running around like it's romper room. Don't waste your money.

H MacLeod

This was fun with our children aged 7&9. We were there during the US school term so there were school groups visiting. This was a little intimidating when there was a sudden deluge of older kids descending on you! Also think there needs to be a lot more explanation rather than focusing on just having fun. The activities are more amazing when you understand why they work, and where there were staff in hand to explain, the activity was so much better.

Bill Chang

Highly recommended to anyone remotely interested in math. The museum consists of two floors. Guests enter through its main door to a ticket section. There are several kiosks that dispense ID cards that are tied to one's email address. Guests can scan this card throughout the museum for a personalized experience. The museum feature over 40 unique exhibits or activities and a small conference space that features talks on select dates. Accompanying these exhibits are several touchscreen kiosks that explain the mathematics behind these demonstrations. These explanations come in three versions aimed at different audiences (from kids to math nerds). Additionally, there are employees throughout the exhibits to help explain and upkeep these exhibits. There is a gift shop at the end of the exhibit featuring toys and books that continues the visitors’ exploration of mathematics at home. The staffs were very friendly and the exhibits were interesting to interact with.

Beth Ostrowski

I wish this museum were in Nashville. I would love to take my kids. It was very neat and made math relatable, exciting, and cool

Adelya Aksanova

Fun, nerdy, and creative family museum. Also host nice workshops and other events. Would recommend.

Mayank Kumar

Planning to take your kids to place which can: 1. Get kids interested in Maths OR 2. Introduce the kids to a few concepts of Maths OR 3. Introduce them to some history of Maths If your answer to one or more of the above questions is yes, then I strongly recommend NOT GOING to this place! First of all, the name is extremely misleading. No aspect of this place indicates that this is a museum. I couldn’t find any history here. This place is named “National Museum” which elevates the expectations in the mind of a visitor to expect to gain a certain level of knowledge. I am really wondering what it takes for a place to be able to use this name. If this museum is anything to go by, clearly that usage of the title has a very low entry bar. The place claims to introduce children to the world of Math, however, the experience of being here is no different from being at Chuck e Cheese and playing video games. The concepts are hidden away and not available to a visitor unless atleast one of the person in your group is both good at Math AND good to explaining it to kids. All in all, disappointing, waste of time and money.

Josh Cheung

There were a lot of interesting and shareable moments even for a person like me in my mid 20s, but about every fourth exhibit was either out of order or of shoddy craftsmanship.

Alexander Watson-Jones

Fun, but some exhibits we're out of service

Evan Adams

This is a really cool place teaching kids and inspiring them

Dragoslav Grbovic

Great place for both kids and adults. Definitely a few days worth of activities

Ivan J Cardona-Tomassini

Excellent place to learn and have fun.

Cinthia Diaz

What an amazing hands-on experience. All 150 students had a wonderful time. The staff was so helpful and accomodating. I definitely recommend this museum for some math fun.

Peggy Mcintosh

It was interactive and the kids had a great time!

Miriam Rosenfeld

This is a great place to take kids ages 6+ . This is a fun and interactive museum. The kids won't even realize this is supposed to be educational. We had a wonderful time! Definitely recommend!

Mauricio Cervone

Lots of fun and very interesting. Some games didn't work and others were working with problems. Overall is a place to have fun even with strangers. Highly recommend.

Andrey Lipavsky

The place isn't huge, but it's captivating. Loved by kids of all ages.

Olivia AJBdD

This museum really helps visualize mathematics. It is breathtaking how much learning you get from experiencing mathematics. The staff is extremely friendly, willing to help, and educated. The staff explains so well and answer all technical questions very clearly. I have a passion for Mathematics; it really warmed my heart to experience this unique and remarkable museum!

blanca velez

Great for school trips makes math fun.

loved the museum of mathematics, is well thought and has adequate games for every age. So simple for kids to start loving maths and the more complicated for adults. My parents are mathematicians and I grew up in a house full of math and logic games to solve, I didn't really knew I was using maths while playing. This museum is great, and brought good memories back. I had so much fun

This place is a hidden gem of nyc if you have kids. Our children spent 4 hours there and still didn't want to leave. The exhibits are based on math principles but the kids just find them to be fun.

David Saintloth

A great place to take your mind for a long flight of exploration.

Richard Giles

Exhibits are excellent but staff make little effort to explain the science behind them.

Saw the report from the CBS Sunday Morning and decided to stop by. It was interesting and the staff was friendly and helpful. Love the pi door handles! It also has a good gift shop with a variety of fun items. I did not understand the majority of the exhibits and how the math applied to each exhibit. It would be nice to have more details to help the visitors grasp the concept. I also recommend better merchandise for adults. The materials of the T shirts are not soft and the design is not exciting.

Can't find a more fun and educational place to be than this museum. Bring your kids(over 6), otherwise they might have trouble understand the contents in most of the play stations. The origami section is amazing. Your kids will enjoy painting and designing their own patterns on clothes. And everyone will get a kick out of the tricycles with square wheels.

Warning, this is NOT a museum but a playroom for children on the theme of maths. If you are an adult math student, you will not learn anything. If you want to teach your children to do math, this park should be avoided, go your way. Two floors of play games, half of which do not work. It's expensive, it's noisy because of the children screaming, we were very disappointed, I do not recommend even with family.

Great place. unlike other museums, it is filled to the brim with hands on demonstrations. Amazing for kids of any age as well as adults. Remember to wear sneakers! It does get a bit crowded in the afternoon though.

Very cool concept of interactive, often gamified mathematical exhibitions. It's geared mainly towards kids and there are lots of school classes visiting. But there is advanced reading up to the academic level at every station.

Great for kids. The interactive exhibits are great to stirring up interest. The exhibit explanations are gears towards children so its not great to adults.
