It takes 2 hours to get here, and the guard ask my friend for their passports with a valid US Visa as a requirement to enter to the museum. Too bad, waist our time... it was an discriminatory act.

Why does Fort Hamilton honor General Lee? He was a confederate, that fought against the union, I'm I correct? So in modern terms General Lee was a terrorist. Does Fort. Hamilton honor terrorists? Not only does that terrorists have street names after him, has a plaque on a rock in front of the gate named after him. This is disturbing, and disguising. Shame on Fort. Hamilton to honor a terrorists!!!

2,5 hours in a bus, only to find out that citizens from my country could't get in. I'm from Europe (Denmark). Something they could have mentioned on homepages about the museum. We were very disapointed!

Nice free museum run by volunteers with lots of knowledge about the history of Fort Hamilton and the United States. The volunteers are friendly and will answer whatever questions you have as they guide you through the museum. You must be aware that it is on an active military installation and you must have ID to get on the base. Foreign Nationals interested in visiting should call ahead to ascertain what they need in terms of ID to get on base.

I am not recommending this place. They just close down without notice so even you travel here for a long time but it is not guaranteed you can get in. They do not even give any proper reason: Just saying "They are doing something."

My hotel was 2 hours away fron this museum. When I arrived they told me I couldn't get in because I needed an ID. So i went back to my hotel and the next day I came back with my ID. But I still couldn't get in because they only accept us citizen inside the museum, thing that they did not mention the day before. Thanks a lot for the additional 4 hours of public transportation.

The exhibits are very fascinating but the best part is speaking to the volunteers that work there. Most of them are war veterans and have excellent stories to share.

I thought New York Democrats were more open to diversity and inclusiveness in their admissions policies. I hardly see any threat to the nations security in allowing foreign citizens to see 19th century technology on display. Way to go, New Yuk!

My father came to visit to NYC and went to visit the museum. When asked for an ID he was told that a Governmental ID from Spain was not sufficient that he needed a passport with a visa stamp. He doesn't walk around the city with his passport nor this has ever been a requirement for any tourist to visit a museum, plus he had an official photo ID with him. He wasted an 1 hour+ ride in a bus and came back totally disappointed. The guards at the museum where not friendly either. They have to work on their personal treatment to visitors in this place.

I am EU citizen, andvI couldn't visit museum only with ID. You need to have passport there with you, so old school. I wasted my time going there.
