To this day this business gets a rating of 4.3 out of 5 and the score was based on 555 reviews.
You must have seen that it reaches an opinions average is very good, and it's based on a large number of feddbacks, so we may say that the valuation is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Museum belongs to the category of Museum.
Small gallery, but a nice place to visit. Tickets are on your right, and the gallery is on the left as you enter.
Always a great place to visit
It was nice but takes half an hour to see the whole museum
Very good Food and service in the restaurant.
This museum is local, it doesnt represent all Latinoamericans Artists of New York, i was disappointed. where is picasso, basquiat, Dali, Botero, Britto Romero, Frida, Diego Rivera. we were there expecting see a quality of Art. where is Toro Del Mar Sosa
I loved walking about and reading about Latin American artists and their work. This is a very beautiful and well thought out museum.
Heavy focus on Puerto Rican art. Would love to see a little more diversity, but overall definitely really cool. Super thankful that there's a museum representing latino artists.
Great discussion on El Barrio-past and present..Boricuas visit this museum you will be filled with pride!!
The performance venue is beautiful, and well suited for operas, etc
Only took a lunch break here but am planning to return since museum is highly recommended. Lunch was very good-gave us sustenance to go through Central Park Conservatory Gardens.
2 VERY rich exhibits right now: assemblages by Lillian Porter & beautiful but heartbreaking photos from the 70's & 80's. Small enough to see both in their entirety. Building under renovation, but didn't affect the visit
Comfortable place to hang & work withots of natural light. Ideal if you need a place in the Mt. Siani area to wait & work on laptop while a friend or family member is at the medical complex. It started out as a very inexpensive spot with excellent food which must have been unsustainable because the food has gone down a notch & the prices have gone up a notch. The wait staff is stretched. They need to work a counter was well that is separate from the the table area. They don't have the bandwidth or light of sight to respond to table needing something - amounting to slow service.
Always a great place to know of and visit.
Great museum! Appropriate for all, including kids
Amazing place. The theatre is very intimate with amazing acoustics. Wonderful staff!
Great museum to go learn about Latino culture and just go and enjoy your heritage. The museum has so many employees that are familiar with the neighborhood and will always be willing to talk to you about it. There are so many interesting people that walk through the galleries and its easy to strike up a conversation with the. Go check it out!
Great museum
Great museum with good community ties and programming.
Great place to visit
Lovely museum. Rather small but the exhibits were varied from Latin American artists of many different mediums. More focus on the diaspora in the US. Cafe is nice as well. Buying tickets here gave us free entry to the more expensive city museum next door.
It's an amazing place with a lot of history
Gallery is very small. Would be better if there was something interactive or perhaps some good photo-ops.
Fantastic
Small, but also quiet. It was a joy walking around and taking everything in.
Hosts to the uptown bounce as well.. that was my reason for going. But it a great place to hang out..plus central park across the street. Lots to do.
Beautiful shows are great culture
Despite its somewhat small scale to be called "museum," exhibitions here are presented and managed very well. To me, the exhibitions evoked fundamental questions of diasporic communities which are not complete but continuing--regarding identity, cultural transformation and daily life. There is no doubt it's a worth visit but allow me to note that the entrance fee is a bit over-priced (compared to other museums/galleries/institutions).
El Museo is an East Harelm institution. When you find yourself up in el Barrio, make sure you stop by.
Had a great time - wasnt able to see exibits since we had drinks lol .. DJ was really good .. We will B back next wed
Diferent and culturally enriched
Overpriced for small portions. Felt like we were bugging the waiter
Exhibits are a bit stale and boring. The surrounding community of East Harlem is where the magic is! Simply walk around and you will find authentic art & culture.
Beautiful artwork, lovely building and very nice staff. A gem in this city.
Went to El Teatro, saw a concert.
Only one gallery open at the moment, which is a shame, but I could see that the place had great potential. Nice vibe :)
Attended a NYTimes event at their theater. Great. Loved series of mexican short films
Excellent Museum established by Puerto Ricans to keep population knowledgeable of the arts and cultural of their nation and have a place to present exhibition of new artist in the diaspora. Staff knowledgeable of exhibition. Very friendly and cordial. A museum for all to visit who love the arts.
Just amazing! I wish it had more things to see. But I loved it!
Newly renovated and murals look beautiful.
Excellent place to visit
Amazing museum with pieces of indigenous cultures and contemporary works of art
Great museum, amazing exhibitions and very quiet environment
GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE. A CALMING AND WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT. SINCE I WAS BORN IN SPANISH HARLEM(A.K.A. EL BARRIO) I HAD AN IMMEDIATE EMOTIONAL REACTION UPON ENTERING THIS WONDERFUL PLACE. SPANISH HARLEM HAS A GREAT AND INSPIRING LEGACY OF GIVING BIRTH TO SOME OF THE GREATEST ARCHITECTS OF THE INTERNATIONALLY HERALDED MUSIC GENRE CALLED "SALSA." AND YET,THERE IS MORE!!! EVEN IF YOU NEVER TRAVELED TO CUBA OR PUERTO RICO. YOU CAN EXPERIENCE GREAT AUTHENTIC ART,FOOD AND CULTURE OF THE DIASPORA RIGHT HERE IN 'EL BARRIO.' THANKYOU. EDDIE G. HARLEM//U.S.A.
Nice for a family visit. Food is great at the restaurant downstairs.
Excellent performance from Eddie Palmieri n his Latin Band..
Place is amazing
If you haven't been to El Museo in over two years, hurry up. After the renovation, they have step up their events, performances and exhibition. Summertime they often host a series of concerts, some which take place in their rooftop. Their membership is inexpensive and gives you a lot of access to great events.
The museum exhibitions are currently NOT available for public viewing. The museum store and cafe remain open. They hold special events and the street party they threw for the annual Museum Mile event was a lot of fun!
Loved the little unassuming museum. It's a great way to learn about Latinx in New York in ways that you don't find in the other museums in the area.
Beautiful amphitheater and great staff!
Is a must I love it even small is definitely a meaningful place to go.
Great museum, next to the New York City Museum. You can visit both in the same day and you only pay for one.
Very small exhibit but there are some nice things inside. They do give you a free ticket to the Museum of New York City so it makes the price worth it.
BEWARE: Alcohol-intolerant people or pregnant ladies should avoid ordering any of their so-called "nonalcoholic" cocktails. I ordered a non-alcoholic margarita and my pulse promptly jumped, face flushed, and breath smelled like alcohol. The bartender and the waitress had no clue how it got mixed up, which speaks for the kind of training they get. Their food was great though - I liked the shrimp ceviche and the queso dip.
I always have a fun time at the Museo
Really nice museum with lots of art from Latin American artists. The entrance fee also gives entrance to the Museum of the City New York next door
I went there for a gallery tlk. great! No admission charge for this museum.
Wonderful Experience! Walking tour: Mapping Resistance :The Young Lords in El Barrio.
My friend had her wedding ceremony in the lobby. She was suppose to have it across the street at Central park but it rain out. They charged her $200 to have the ceremony in the lobby. Years later returned to see the "Caribbean Crossroads" exhibit.
Had a great tour guide for an adult group that helped us understand the pieces better. Lots if different mediums and exhibits.
The building shares the space with other city agencies.
Always a great experience! Under renovation but still worth it as it is also free with suggested donation.
The place was beautiful but the lady with the cane was unnecessarily rude. I went here to see my little sister perform with here class and she was just nasty to my mother. I don't know if she work here but, that wasn't right. The security was nice.
One of my favorite museums in the city. Definitely worth checking out.
Very interesting. About the long history of latino community in NY. Exceptional art too, a pleasure to spend a couple of hours there. Tickets shared with the Museum of the City of NY, a short distance away.
I WAS AT A EVENT WITH MY CHURCH ! LIFE CHANGERS CHURCH AT THIS PLACE AND IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCE.
Went during Museum Mile! They don't have that many installations but they do have some great, food, beverages and a live band that day.
Honored to celebrated the 50th Anniversary of El BMuseo del Barrio's founding by the New York City Department of Museums. Previewed traditional and contemporary visual art and sculptural installations and learned ancestral, political, social and cultural history of Latina/Hispanic people who migrated to New York from southeast U.S. territories and Caribbean islands. Their heritage richly contributes to the fabric of New York City.
The museum is very small but the pieces are definitely thought provoking and the gift shop employee is great.
Great Experience. They've renovated the Theater and Museo. Under New Administration. My Wife and I went to see Eddie Palmieri Concert and was Real Nice. The Food Was Pretty Good. A bit Pricey For Small Portions. But Overall Excellent Recommended!!
Beautiful place. Nothing more to say! Must see place! Speakers for its self!
Totally exquisite
The El Museo Del Barrio is a nice tribute to Latin and Spanish culture. This was my first visit to the museum to see the East LA and South Bronx street photography exhibit. While the museum is small, it's not overwhelming to walk through and really take everything in.
Very friendly environment. Good food. Pick what you want. Reasonable Price
Great museum full of diaspora art. Worth seeing if you’re interested in Latin culture. The staff has a good vibe.
Genial. Very interesting place.
Great art and i would recommend it to anyone
So disappointed in Museo Del Barrio's cancellation of the Jodorowsky exhibit. Have some integrity.
Have great times here
Very nice place. The new Upgrades are well appreciated
Interesting Museum. Good activities for children.
We had a nice time here on a Wednesday evening. Salsa dancing, dominos, arts and crafts all on a small scale, but definitely and enjoyable evening. The adult nightlife gets started at 6pm until 9pm the website says. I will be back for that.
This is a fun, vibrant, engaging museum and I've never been to another one like it. I really enjoyed my visit, the only thing that would of made it better was if I could of caught a tour or been able to learn more about the history of the exhibits. Unfortunately the timing of my visit didn't allow for that. The gift shop is worth checking out as they have a bunch of unique items.
Love going here. Museum part is small but take a look at their calendar for events. Events are so much fun. They also have a place to eat that is absolutely delicious.
The concert was more than expected. Very impressed.
I recommend the cafeteria. Worth while stopping for food or coffee even if you're not visiting the museum
Wonderful Liliana Porter exhibition.
My school is in the same building
Great place to learn Puerto Rican Heritage
Great tour and interesting information given by tour guide
Extremely friendly staff/guides/artists, wonderful museum!
Wonderful afternoon at the Museo!
It's a great small museum. Definitely not first tier but if you are in the area definitely worth a stop. It's one of the very few museums to display modern Latino artwork.
The first Wednesday of the month the Museum holds the Coqui Club. The Coqui Club is for children birth to 4 years old with wonderful bilingual story time and a craft to follow according to the story. Great program!!!
Love your programs. Musica de Camera w EVA DE LA O. The concerts are fantastic!!
The museum is truly a part and representation of the community around it. Education Programs extend into the public art of el barrio. Make sure to keep your eyes open as you walk towards and leave the museum.
Great place I recommend that you bring your children
The reopening of El Teatro is beautifully renovated and restored
It was ok
Nice museum at the museum avenue :-) no waiting at the entrance and some real interesting things (sry dont know enough english words to describe) by mexican artists. Try the fine coffee shop too :-) enjoy your stay.
This museum never disappoints me. It's always different works from all sorts of artist.
A FANTASTIC ART MUSEUM!!!! Fairly small, you can probably cover it in an hour. The security guards are friendly, and last time I went, a local performance artist was being showcased. Just really like the vibe lol it's so colorful.
Fantastic
Amazing
Very interesting installations and a good restaurant.
Nice Latin museum with great staff and activities for children on Saturdays
I came to support a friends exhibit and front desk had no clue of what I was talking about
I performed there, and had Memorial service for my Dad.
Twas very interesting despite its small size than again only one exhibit was open when I had gone
OUT OF THIS WORLD CULTURAL EXPERIENCE ❤️
Always as amazing exhibitions and events
#rainyday #accessible #culture #mustsee #learn
I've been visiting since i was a baby
Amazing exhibitions and I believe it is free admission. If you are a CUNY staff, admission is free and college students are free as well. Great Latinx galleries- representing the community is amazing and wonderful to see as a visitor!
Great time with my daughter there. Great location, near central park so its a few good hours of fun and education. And for free!
Bella comida, the food is a work of art.
Was expecting a lot more art dedicated to the Spanish culture.
Such a wonderful and amazing place to take your kids. This museum has art work from kids all around the cities. They come together to make beautiful art, with sculptures, paint, materials, and all sorts of art materials for them to love and share. My kids had an amazing time being apart of the program and enjoying the view, show and food there. Such a family oriented space, and amazing views. We Loved it!
Relaxing place filled with cultural icons a d art of Puerto Rican and other Latin descent
A nice Spanish themed museum in Harlem. Very easy to get too with interesting exhibits updated every few months. The Cafe is a bit on the expensive side however the food is good and the sangria is even better.
Beautiful place! As a hispanic person I was very happy to see how my culture was represented and proud of the artists who took the time to try and explain the underpriveleged marginalized communities in the city. Great work!
Great space and the exhibits were fantastic
East Harlem cultural center try the restaurant. Great Mexican food.
What a fabulous museum!!!
cant wait to go back
Peace of mind
Wonderful Super Saturday. Everything third Saturday El Museo host's activities for children & an afternoon concert. Great exposure to Latin American artists.
Liliana Porter exhibition was really good, Winston Vargas was also good.
Decent viewlines in the auditorium. Very nice staff. Came for Joanna Newsom and the lifting and sound were Ace. A little far from the 6 train, about ten min walk. Closer to the Fifth Ave. Buses. Do not try to park in the area, lots of traffic on Fifth and side streets are filled up. Cafe is clean.
Fabulous museum that always has excellent exhibits, wonderful programs, great things in the shop, and a delicious cafe!
Latin American art collections by Latin Americans. Very colorful museum.
The day a visit they had a dance group dancing bomba de puerto rico and a photo exit all was free and very beautiful I enjoy it
Classy traditional
Very dull
Good place to eat and sip on something nice
One can't help being moved by the powerful and meaningful messages embodied in the the current exhibition of "roots resistance, and resilience."
I really appreciate their work and mission, but I didn't like the exhibition that was going on when I visited it. I'll give it another shot. But if you are visiting NY a d have limited time, you can skip this museum.
Small museum, but filled with a lot of beautiful artwork. I was told by a staff member that the artwork changes often, so there is always something new to see. I really enjoyed it, I will return. :)
Great and fun museum, they now have a nice restaurant offering Mexican food at great prices in a nice setting
I have lived in the area over 20 years. In that time the museum has flourished in to the wonder of today. A really great tribute to my hispanic brothers and sisters of the world.
This is a wonderful resource to learn about spanish culture
If you are Puerto Rican, you need to go.
The exhibitions are very unique and informative about Latin American culture overseas and in the states. Great public programs
Good photo op for tourists. Very easy to find, and right across from the park, so you can either relax or enjoy the short walk to the subway on the other side.
Love this place. Great shows and great museum
Love this museum but the best is their programing.
Amazing concert space.
Great place
