Sacred living monument of our beloved young country right there on Broadway in Inwood. Took a private tour with NYAC, Charlotte the tour guide at the House was brilliant with the in depth history.

A NY treasure from when we were still New Amsterdam. Lovely for and with kids but the gardens steal the show.

I still can’t believe there is a farmhouse from 1784 in the middle of Inwood surrounded by restaurants, schools, houses. Been wanted to chexk it out for years but today we only took pictures outside as it is closef on Tuesdays. Little gem.

The Dyckman farmhouse is small and nice. The kids enjoy their visit here and have fun playing outside the farmhouse.

A rare sight in Manhattan is an unattached home, unless you're in Inwood. But even here the Dyckman Farmhouse stands on it's own overlooking the intersection. This is a great place to see maps and documents of Upper Manhattan from the 1700's through today. The Farmhouse was once part of the land that the Dyckman family owned stretching from Harlem and all the way up Manhattan. There's a self guided tour of the house and a staff member that can answer your questions. The winter kitchen is a nice little spot as well as the Hessian huts in the backyard.

Nice historical farm house only problem is finding parking but its worth the visit

Nice old house/museum in the otherwise highly developed neighborhood of Inwood. Learned about the Dyckman family and their way of life in what was then New Amsterdam. Entrance is free and an hour is enough to visit the site.

Nancy Rakoczy

You can enjoy the sun on their benches, and have lunch at the picnic tables.

Pros: $1 suggested entrance is reasonable. Cons: Don't expect the MOMA 5 hours of walking, the place is small and you'll be done in 5-15 minutes. The best thing about the Dyckman Farmhouse is around it, the small garden can for a moment make you feel like you are not in the noisy metropolis of NYC.

I was walking on Broadway Towards 207 st and liked the night view .. it looked Unique from surrounding Buildings, so I took this picture.. Just found out it's a Historic Place.

Absolutely loved touring this amazing farmhouse in the middle of NYC! Lots of history and very interesting portrayal of farm life. This is the original house. Not air conditioned...but we were invited to sit on the back porch of the house. Lovely gardens! Not wheelchair accessible.

to me its a fascinating place! because it takes you back, and makes you wonder how it was without so many luxuries, that we take for granted, such as electronic, and how the dykeman family keepped it together! that is until they had to flee to upstate,.newyork years later they came it was trashed! but they still remained until the next after next generation sold it.....!

Carolyn Weddell

A lovely historical venue, for anyone who would like to time travel back 235 years. As an added bonus, interesting contemporary artwork complementing the antique interior furnishings, and quite an interesting exhibit on Inwood's Japanese population between the First and Second World Wars. And definitely tour the garden to see the magnificent old trees and outbuildings.

It’s amazing that such a thing existed and I had no idea about it till today lol I’ve been past this house many times before and had no clue this museum was so close to home..it’s nothing fancy, but it takes you back to a time when this part of Manhattan was nothing but flat lands, and your neighbors are few in between! Oh but watch out for the low headway..always smacked myself on the low ceilings a few times and I’m not even that tall!

One of those old historic houses in New York that 'progress' hasn't destroyed. An authentic old dutch farmhouse with some land left around it, on which is a small garden and a couple of small buildings, representing something I can't remember, right on a hill on Broadway. The house is open weekends, at least, maybe more. It's a small house with period rooms, including bedroomd and the kitchen, with furnishings and kitchen equiptment. You can wander around at your leisure, and at least during the "uptown pleasures" event, and probably other times, guided tours. Also, there's a bathroom out front, so you don;t have to go to the nearby McDonalds.

How wonderful finding such history in upper Manhattan. The Dyckman Farmhouse Museum is a great place for children and adults. Hands on apple cider pressing. So cool!! The personnel were friendly, helpful. Wow, the army bunker was so interesting. Hey there Teo Turtle! You helped keep the kids further occupied. And thanks for the books My grandsons thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thanks. I'll be back!

I wish people would know the difference between Washington Heights and Inwood. There is a price and status difference. Thanks.

Exquisite piece of history passed over by time's industrial march. An easy walk from the 207th st subway station, one is struck by the apparent misplacement of the house surrounded by pharmacies and bodegas when it is first revealed. Knock on the door and someone will let you in if it's within their hours posted on their website. There's a self-guided tour of the quaint dutch farmhouse once you're inside. Don't forget to see the reproduction of a Hessian hut in the backyard.

Monica Matos

The Dyckman family's homestead. Well preserved and a hidden jewel of the neighborhood. Most pass it by without giving it a glance. I enjoy walking the grounds taking in the flowers and imagining what this area was like in the 1800's. It's such a beautiful house, the interior is just precious. The porches are also lovely.

This is a nice place to learn history of early settlers in Manhattan. They also have some kids activities and events, also exhibitions by local artists. Opens 11:00am-4:00pm Thursday - Saturday. And during the summer they also open Sundays 11:00pm - 3:00pm.
