REVIEWS OF Children's Museum Of Manhattan IN New York

Timo Partanen

This was probably a great place in 1990, but unfortunately nothing has been done since. Exhibitions are very basic, many computer displays not working, etc. Staff is great thou. Go to Brooklyn or Long Island Children's Museums. Or to Boston!

Edith Paiz

It’s a glorified indoor playground, far from a children’s museum. Most of the activities / playboards don’t work, there is no personnel supervising or at least making sure kids use the games adequately or don’t destroy them. Not worth the entrance fee.

Chinwe A.

CMOM offers such a lovely variety of activities for children. It's so hands on. It's delightfully fun environment is perfect.

Front Yard BBQ

Take your toddler and spend the entire day, they will fight you to leave.

Johanna Monteiro

Very expensive for what they offer. Is not allowed to eat inside, so you have to go out and come back later. Not allowed to have strollers inside also, so you have to carry all your belongings. The installations are not well maintained.

Velvel Tiefenbrun

Was awsome but no place to eat and no food allowed in building kids get hungry!!!

Ariel Coro

The most crowded children's museum I've ever seen! The kids enjoyed it but it was a little exhausting. Maybe it's a NY thing that we haven't gotten used to. The exhibits were well thought out and fun and overall we had a good time.

David Valencia

they could do better, not much to do after awhile and the kids started to get uninterested with the activities.

Mathew Sherwood

What a great place to take the kids. Staff was friendly, activities were fun, and the facility is great for playtime with learning opportunities. There is a dance area, an incredible outside water table to learn about water, a play room dedicated to learning about the body. They even had picture time with the dragon from Dragons Love Tacos.

Anna Law

I feel like once upon a time they kept up with changing up of theme on a more consistent basis now not so much. It's sad really.

Arun Kumar SP

Very basic like school activities and most of the gadgets were broken. Not worth the money.

Yary Rivera

Great place for the family. My kids really enjoyed themselves and didn't want to leave. Loved all the things the kids can do and make. Super experience.

Lauren Guy

Small, to very dmall children (under 5). After coming from the Boston Children's Museum, i was very disappointed. You can't compare between the two

Melvena Jennings

Lots of fun, with hands on projects.

ali safar

Excellent place for your baby or toddler and you to spend several hours. Fun interactive toys, (like an electronic light activated harp) and several floors. Clean and friendly helpful staff. I only with they would implement a no shoes policy, at least in some areas, to accommodate babies who can only crawl.

Helen Lora

Everyone that works here is super friendly and fun! They made it such a special day for my kids.

Kelly Veliz

Great museum for children. My child and her cousin enjoyed their visit for the day.

Larry Mayberry

Had a great time exploring the many floors and exhibits here. Figured we'd stay for a couple hours but ended up staying longer than that because of all the fun. Will definitely be bringing the kids back (ages 9, 7, 5).

ajit sah

It's really very good for children please visit once with your children

Eric Cheng

Fantastic place for kids. Loved the exhibits and found them fun, friendly and educational for all ages. Would return

Jenny Vasserman Beraha

The museum is good for a very specific age of kids. In my opinion 3 - 7. And actually, for a very specific type of parents. When my son was 2 were both bored there in 30 min. Today, he is 6,5 and my daughter is almost 4 , and they LOVE it. Educational activities, art, fan, you name it... We spend there 3-4 hours and we are the last to leave when is closes. Definitely worth to try and check if it is for you.

Isaura Sanchez

Horrible Went there 5 years ago Totally different from now .I even got bored after 30mins so did my kids. Plus price went up .not happy with this place at all. I do not recommend for 7 yr and up.

Paula Duque

This museum is great for kids they have many activities my kids really love this place. My son meet Pet the cat he loves his books and there read some for them. The only thing I don’t like is they don’t have cafeteria so if you want something you have to go outside and buy it .

Maura Lee Forsgren

This place has so much potential but it tends to be the place where parents and nannies take their kids to run wild and give themselves a break from watching the children.

Diogo Della Torres Oliveira

Excellent place for kids, specially with less than 7 years old. Many activities. If all the small kids could be here once we would have more healthy people and better world.

Creative Tarot

My nephew loved our visit! There much to do and much to see.

Edwin Jaudon Jr

Very nice place with lots to do the kids but can get cowded very quickly

Stephanie Rubi

Great for children 5 and under. Older children won't have much fun

Niv Ben Dor

My baby boy loves the place and that's why we go there every other weekend. The annual subscription is quite cheap so worth checking it

Shavon Johnson

My 6 year old son was totally bored after 30 minutes. I guess it’s great for toddlers especially for the price but I wouldn’t recommend for a child over the age of 5. There’s not much to see that would interest a child above the age of 5. Staff was super nice though.

Kristel Rodriguez

Awesome place for kids and parents! The body floor was so interesting. We had a great time with a 10, 5, and 2 year old.

ee t

Loved the fact the museum have 5 floors of play space. Also since my son love to dance the dance floor was a favorite!

Lingxin Zhang

A little bit crowded and busy but a nice entertaining and educatuonal experience for my toddler.

Fred Wilson

Basically a kids interactive and play ground indoors. Was pretty good. All the staff were extremely nice and helpful.

Eric Cheung

Took my toddler here last week for the first time. He loved exploring all the areas. There was story time and the staff were all very friendly and helpful

Brenda Parry

Took my 2 year old grandson and 7 month granddaughter here and they loved it! My grandson could not wait to go! Very educational, with a lot of stuff to do. Very clean and safe. One tiny issue I have is that the small section for two and under kids is not monitored, and children at least 9 years old play on there. Older children setimes forget when tiny ones are around and it can be dangerous.

Michael Sprague

Wide range of life concerns to creative activities focused at the early awareness mind.

Sakinah Diane

My god daughter had a ball. They have multiple levels. Coat and stroller check on the first floor. Staff is super friendly. Bathrooms aren't the cleanest.

Kandice Cole

Great museum in NYC. We took our 3 year old and she had a blast. She especially loved the dance studio on lower level where she could play dress up and dance! Worth the money for sure!!!

Vincent Avtomav

Great place to bring your kids on a rainy day. Many floors to discover. During summer the "watertables" are a lot of fun. The workshop might be a good thing to do ! The membership worth it if you plan to come on a regular basis.

Anna Dennery

I've been to a lot of museums and now that I have a kid I go to kid museums (yay for me). This was just the worst! I understand that you have limited space since your market is downtown Manhattan but this could have been so much better. The Dora the explorer exhibition needs an update. The first floor was only a craft project for older kids, the third floor was basically for kids under 5. Like, who is this geared towards? Can they only use one floor each? The kids had fun but I wouldn't go back.

Darla DeCohen

My grandson had a great time.

Eagles Heat

The children museum is small and it’s a lot of chaos on the weekend because of that. It’s much calmer doing the week. I say a good age for 1-7 yrs old but if it’s a weekend I say go to the one in Brooklyn it’s much bigger and more to do.

Termino Dlamins

I never been to children's museum but you can make an animated from the Disney character's house that kids or families can or want to see like the barbie ( the doll) house or Batman and superman house. you have to know some information like this because in Florida they the united kindom house ,in Disney world in Orlando florida they had or still have the Cinderella house and China they have the hello kitty house./yo nunca a venido a este museo pero se puede aser como una atracion de una casa o varias casas infantiles para ir a ver o visitar con su familia o hijos por ejemplo una casa infantil de la muneca barbie, la Cinderella, sleeping beauty( la Bella durmiente) little mermaid( la sirenita), beauty and the beast(la Bella y la bestia),Batman, superman, hulk(el gran hulk), Spider-Man(el hombre arana)lgo asi

Chany Rubin

Loved this place, I went with my 2 year old toddler we were there for 4 hours and he still didnt want to leave. There's no major rides or attractions and it's still so enjoyable and educational!!! There's arts, physics, imaginative play, Dora's world and dance. Every young kid will love this place no matter what type they are.

Kristi Ndoja

I use to bring here the children I take care because they love it. But I can tell it's interesting even for adults, thanks the cards on the walls you gonna learn a lot of things about children, especially how to understand them development.

Bonnie Zijic

Worth every penny kids even babies love this place !!

jen caz

Nice. My son is 9. He had a few things to do but not many. Coming on a holiday like Easter I think is good....but not on a regular. It's not age appropriate for everyone.

Mysteriousshadow_puppy

Perfect for children and had fun DIYS

April Johnson

My 2 year spent his birthday here with a friend! They both had a really good time especially on the 2nd & 3rd floors! Our toddlers were able to walk around freely and after a while started leading the way to the next exhibits. Lots to learn even for the parents...looking forward to our next visit!

yndu Williams

Boring its for babies not for older kids like 8 yrs old

Andreina Soto

Babies learn, develop their skills, meet new friends, try new things and enjoy and have fun. Supper clean Staff very friendly and helpful They have classes If you don’t have membership you are goin to pay $15 per person one year and older and also adults

Khurram Hassan

Easy to get to museum in Manhattan. It was down the street from our hotel next to the Beacon Theater. Our son loved it. We came back again for a second visit. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It gets very busy during the weekend so we came back during a weekday so that he could have more time with some of the exhibits. Not all the exhibits have all the parts necessary for the kids to play with. They need to fix some pieces but generally it's a decent Children's Museum.

Rafael Ernesto Flores-Obando

Just the the place to be for your kids of any age. Even my 12 years old loved it and had a great time. Lots of places to ate and coffee shops close by. Definitely, you have yo tame your kids there.

Douglas Callender

A fun place to bring your kids to learn and be active

Mika Jen

Children of all ages can have a good time here and the exhibits change regularly enough. Admission is pricey, especially if you have more than one child with you ($14 per person). If you plan to visit more than a couple of times a year, the family pass may be the better option. You can bring your own food, but cannot eat it inside.

K. Braeden Anderson

This place is amazing. I went today for the very first time and my toddler had such an incredible time. There are 4 different floors, each with unique and age-tailored activities suitable for any child 8 and under. The prime age group is likely 2 to 4, but older kids can have fun too

אורלי שחר

The staff don't consider the situation when's a baby want to eat in the lounge. I fead my baby on the stairs.

Rashida jenkins

Great place to take young kids.. so many exciting activities for the young children.

Betsy Adams

Was somewhat surprised by the shape of the place but it doesn’t really matter what I think—my 4 year old nephew loved it and didn’t want to leave. I also found the staff to be super attentive and friendly. Great option for energetic kids when the weather isn’t ideal for the park playground.

Aliya Fowler

It’s ok. Definitely dirty and crowded. San Francisco and Chicago definitely take better care of their property. Was a little disappointed

Victor Valenzuela Valenzuela

Fun fun for the kids they love it

Lucais Horsley

On a rainy day or a sunny day, this is a wonderful place for kids to explore for hours!!!! It has 4 levels to visit and everyone there is helpful and friendly. I was short of a penny for one of my boys for the wishing well, and the lovely security guard gave me a dime!!! I would plan ahead for eating. I had a hard time with restaurants for my kids. This museum is truly a gem!

Amdad D Arshad

You can get a discount if your a teacher which is great for teachers. Also it's a really fun place for parents and kids alike.

Satyajit Dam

Good place for children to spend a few hours. A bunch of hands-on activities keep them occupied. Not like a traditional museum building though, more like a couple of townhouses put together. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Mahmoud Sayedahmed

The kids love it.. Staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive to patrons... Kids had lots of fun on the ground floor activities

Markos Vidalon

As in all Manhattan it is very hard to find parking close to the museum. The place is nice but I will say up to 6 to kids. This place is more focused on toddlers.

Adrien Lachapelle

A great place to take your kid. Many hands on and interactive options for them to learn and explore while making friends. A tad bit boring for adults but it is a CHILDRENS museum so it is ti be expected.

Инга Алякскина

It's really impressive for both children and parents. We had great time with our daughter. Outdoor water play is great if it's too hot. It has been a while since we were there but our almost 3 year old daughter still remembers the visit and saves her pocket money for next time there)

Ramon Mizrachi

It's a nice place but they need a cafeteria

Jie Zhu

Kid can happily spend one day there.. Good water fun

Lourdes Nicolas

Beautiful place for kids I love

Maria Alejandra Sierra

Kids and parents love this place. Much to do in a whole day

D.

Fun for a sunny day if h2o is open and great fun for rainy days. Small short craft classes offered.

Aalok Shah

My kids love coming to the third floor, but in the summertime, the water exhibit is always the most fun.

Adam Tornabene

Needed a place to have the boy run off some energy, this place was perfect. He loved every minute of the 3rd floor (toddler floor). Fire truck was his favorite. Fee to get in wasn't bad and they have a stroller check. The only thing I wish they had more available is hand sanitizer.

Sarah Briggs

Great museum, but more for older kids. They only have one small section for babies and toddlers.

Sonia

It is actually only appropriate for kids that are less than 8 years old. For anything more stimulating walk to Museum of Natural History close by...

mmchirico

Amazing. Educational experiences on every floor and something to stimulate and inspire children from babies to age 8. The classes that are sponsored throughout the day by smart, resourceful educators (college students?) made the museum worth the 5-stars: we took advantage of the cooking and art classes.

Olesya Galko

Good place to play. I like especially WATER ATTRACTION in summer time with waterfalls, rivers, sprinklers, little boats and fishes kids can shoot down the river or fish it out. There are even water protective coats provided and the ground is padded so kids can run barefooted. Kinetic sand station is on the second level outside as well. Floors designed to an appropriate age level, but are fun for all ages kids. We like especially 3rd floor with vocabulary Dino, different activities station, painting messy on walls installation, fire truck, "grocery shopping" department, babies' soft play station with soft blocks, balls, music maker and little library. There's also a quiet nich, good for breastfeeding or just resting. First floor this 2019 year has a 3D printers and markers with which kids can explore amazing last day technologies, also filled with different activity stations. Lower lever still has our beloved dancing floor with dress-up closet. They change floor exhibitions on 1st and LL levels every once in while. But 3rd, 2nd and 4th floors stayed the same for the past 3 years. Prices for the tickets are $15 a person, doesn't matter child or adult. Kids after 1yo must be paid for. Comes down a bit pricey, if visit it often, so good to take a MEMBERSHIP ($200+ for a year). Also there culture pass that offers free entrance for up to 5 people or library culture pass for only one visit with up to 5 people.

John Ross

Great place for kids! From talking toilets, to driving simulators, build your own rollercoaster, to DIY hand made craft tables this place is a great spot for your child to visit, learn, and most importantly play! They might even make some new friends.

Jef Fox

My son and I had a fantastic afternoon here. There are five floors to play on with activities ranging from dance to art with plenty of exploration in between. Be advised you cannot bring food but re-entry is free same day and there are plenty of options nearby (I would advise against the cafe directly across the street). The best ages seem to be 2-5, but I wouldn’t discourage bringing kids a little older or younger. Very worth a trip.

Loïc Coënt

My kid (15 months) had fun

Iris B. Torres

My great granddaughter had a wonderful time.

Mairead, Falls

Great place for small children, but the digestive tract room smelled a little like puke, and it didn't seem very clean. They did have lots of purell, and bathrooms with step stools for easy hand washing, even for the kids, and my kids had a great time there. They especially loved the Dora the Explorer exhibit, and the dance floor on the lower level.

Sebastian Sienra

It's OK if you get free entrance. Definitely not worth paying unless your kids are under 5 yo and you can't go to the park.

K Perez

Cute experience- different floors w different activities. My only negative is that some parents/caretakers do not monitor their kids and let them run around reckless, bumping into other kids. Also, museum should have a section for just crawlers/non walkers. 5 yr olds were running through the small baby area.

Campos Juan

Staff is super polite and friendly. Is kind of basic children's Museum even has a 4 floor I think the space is not very well used at the maximum capability. Boston children's Museum has no many floors but they dont waste any inch of space. I'm 100 percent sure if the managment take a look how Boston children's Museum manages their space definitely they will improve this place because it has a lot of potential.

Anja Toft

So great for toddlers! Hours of fun awaits here. Staff set up different activities throughout the day (at no additional cost). Some of the facilities could use some fresh paint/updates.

Krishnan Dad

Very good for children learning. Can spend Hours and immersed.

Yenny Burgos

We had an amazing time. Thank you Mr Jackson for all that you did for the st Brendan school.

Mario D. Prada

The good: Clean, indoors, lots to do for all ages, and entertaining The bad: Overpriced, not really a museum. They refused to put all our rain jackets on separate hangers even though they were wet. They had plenty of hangers available and that defies common sense.

Violeta K

My son (now 6) loves it here! We have been coming here since he was 2! It’s so diverse and there is so much to see. Definitely worth the money.

Lisset Chang

My kids had a blast and they loved the H2O room and include well they loved everything that they will love to return with their little brother

Raymond Lynam

Basically a kids interactive and play ground indoors. Was pretty good. All the staff were extremely nice and helpful. Should pay per kid as opposed to per adult as the adults are purely there to supervise the children. Pram and coat room available as part of the entrance fee

meagan simms

My students had a great experience at the Dora the Explorer exhibit and City Sights and Sounds. Would reccomend to any teacher to bring Kindergarten students.

C. Ross

My daughter and I had such a great time here! Educational and interactive exhibits and structures were perfect for my VERY active 4 yr old. Many of the children museums I've visited in the past often cater to a much younger audience but this place had something for every age group. I particularly love that even the stairwells are a part of the experience offering insightful and creative designs. We'll be returning for sure.

Nevil Shah

It's not a bad place to visit overall. But some parts of it need renovation or otherwise upgrade. For example, Dora and Diego aren't as popular any more nowadays. Some of the museum activities are also a bit worn with time.

Paul Chen

I think this place is good for children age 7 and under.

Rian C

Brought our 3 nephews here and they seem to enjoy it. Took them around half a day to explore the museum. Kinda pricey but a good place to bring kids to.

Denise Porter

I’m a New Yorker, but I do NOT like going to the city. However, CMOM is so much fun that I’m willing to make the trip. On each floor there is something exciting to do. I enjoyed the outdoor exhibits the most, and my four-year-old son liked the floor that had the fire truck, sand, and grocery store (I think it was the 3rd floor). He also couldn’t stop laughing at the “stuff” in toilet lol. There is a lot to do for children 11 and under.

Elan cadiz

My nephew had a great time and when I had little babies I was a member and they enjoyed it the same.

Shavy M

Great fun for kids. Recommend for Early childhood group.

Kyla Hendy

Great interactive place. Limited things for children under 2

Rivki Mayer

This museum is nice and a lot of fun. But they do not allow strollers inside which makes it very hard to visit with a baby. My baby was napping when we arrived, they charged us admission and then did not allow me to enter with my older children until i removed my baby from the stroller and folded the stroller. Also don't allow eating inside and they are pretty strict about this. I found the trip difficult and the staff were not nice or accomodating.

Carey McIntyre

My children had a wonderful time. It was definitely crowded and was a little overwhelming. The dance room was really fun for adults and children.

Meliana Alejandro

They offer lots of activities for kids from 1-12yo

Bincy Stephen

Overrated indoor playground with no real educational value; filled with unfriendly self entitled families. Not nearly worth the time or money.

Step B

Clean, pleasant staff, kids had fun.

Lizmary DeCoo-Pumarol

Fun place for kids to learn and explore. My 18 month old had a great time.

trivena baynes

It a fun place for kids to play learn and have fun

Yen T.

Used to bring my little guy (nanny) here very frequently with the yearly pass. He loved exploring. Great place for kids under 12 (maybe younger) depending on the other activities offered. He especially loved the water play during the summer months.

Gloria Pellegrino

There’s so much to do here! They have 5 full floors of fun, interactive, and educational play areas for the kids. There is also an outdoor water place space. If you have a public library card, you can get free passes through the cultural pass via the library website. We came at 10am, stayed all day, walked to get lunch (there for 20 places within a 5 minute walk), and came back to play until 3pm. It was a great day, the kids had fun, and wore themselves out that they were asleep by 7pm!!! Yeah!!! Winner all around.

Che Buttah

Children under 1 enter for free... adults are $13... my baby loves the 3rd floor. Shes 10 month. But my 13 yr old enjoyed that same 3rd floor... it may be time for a make over.

Elisha Petrus

This place was alright. I recently took my son here and he had a good time. As a parent of a 1 year old, I don't think it was worth paying $15 for him

Maria Perez

It's a great place for babys & toddlers. The stuff r so nice & helpful

Kimberley Davis-Smith

Wonderful place for the kids 5 floors of activities reasonably priced gift shop wonderful staffing. I couldn't get my kids to leave, they had a blast! Free admission for doe employees. Great place to spend time with the kids over the winter break

Pasha Ijon

Fun for kids, but museum could be upgraded with the 21st century experiences. Existing ones seems to old.

Kenneth Chan

My kid loved it. Is a pretty large space with tons of activities for toddlers. We ended up there on a rainy Yom Kippur - not recommended - kids off school and rained out parks make CMOM's entrance look like a concert venue. But one in we had a great time, staff was professional and super friendly. Could have easily spent more than the 3 hours we did.

Misha Bluvshteyn

Great place for kids to hangout. They have several floors with different type of activities on each floor. There is also a water area for kids to play that is outside/back of the museum. My 2.5 year old really enjoyed this museum and we will be coming back here.

Arkadiusz Jarmuzewski

The place is great for toddlers to explore, but on the +100F Sunday it was crowded already at 1030am.

D Tejada

Hands-on, interactive. One of the Best children’s museum in the world.

Bob Woodcock

Nice staff. Lots for kids 2-6/7 to see and do. Certainly worth the admission. Needs a kid friendly lunch/snack spot there or nearby.

Ken Brands

We took our eighteen-month-old on his first day trip to the city; we had a list of three places we wanted to go, but wound up spending the entire time at the Children's Museum. They have the usual climbing, sliding, and educational things that you expect at a children's museum (more of them, because it's Manhattan), but also a dance floor, and the thing that put them to five stars was the water exhibit. Our toddler was happy enough to splash around, but the activities around it kept us just as entertained as he was. They also had a circle time activity with books and songs, and the four young ladies who were leading it were enthusiastic and entertaining, reading Piggy and Elephant books with one reading each character with serious (or comedic!) personality. Better than most professional audio books!

Duffee Maddox

This place seems very fun and educational. Great staff!

Yehudit Hasin

Fantastic place to spend time with kids of all ages. Just sorry we did not discover it earlier!

Daniel Vollaire

Our 5 year old son was totally bored after 30 minutes. I guess it’s great for toddlers especially for the price but I wouldn’t recommend for a child over the age of 5. There’s not much to see that would interest a child above the age of 5. Staff was super nice though.

Dmitry Miloslavsky

Great place to spend time with the kids. Has something for kids of all ages. Brought our 2 year old. We all had a blast.

Shaquae Jackins

Amazing place my kids love visiting

devora shapiro

Plenty of exciting and fun adventures for babies, toddlers and older kids. My 14 month old had a wonderful time, staff is friendly, the storytime and dance parties features made our visit even more exciting than it already was. My baby was entertained for hours up until closing would love to come back!

Brittany Eersteling

Great placr to lrt ur kids run arounf and enjoy them selves

Stacey Miller

Great place for kids to learn and have fun at the same time

Sabrina Mack

A gem in the city.. There parking is a bit expensive so take public transport if possible. If not, there is a paid parking lot located across from the museum.

Brianne Sorendo

This is definitely a place to take children 4 and under. Children in kindergarten, or those older, will find vastly less enjoyment from the features at this museum than their younger counterparts. However, it is very affordable, especially for the neighborhood it is in, and my slightly too old children enjoyed it nonetheless.

Debbie Warner

Took my two boys and they had a blast. Will definitely go again.

Allyn Young

This museum is SO. MUCH. FUN!!!! Great for babies and younger children. They also hold special themed activities on holidays (their daytime New Year's Eve party was a blast!) There isn't an area to eat though, FYI.

Vickiana Liranzo

My daughter had a good time, The dance party was fun. I just thought they would have more engaging and interactive things for the children to do , I was expecting something like liberty science center.

VetoffeeRecipes/ PorrasGene

Good place for kids, they have attraction for each age and they are fun for kids, but honestly I think the should change the rate, on the web says children under 2 years old are fee free but still we were charged for my son, $15 each and place is not that clean, 4 and 3 floor smell weird like vomit. I would recommend for any parents going early in the morning to avoid the crowds of kids.
