REVIEWS OF Brooklyn Museum IN New York

Michael Manchess

Beautiful museum with epic exhibitions and lobby events every month. Free on the first Saturday of every month, with performances in the front lobby, drinks and small bites sold. A must visit for every New Yorker who hasn't yet and highly recommended for out of towners. Train station is on the same block.

Tanisha Triple Threat

Needed to use the business library and attend classes for the Power Up program, very helpful and informative for doing needed research on my business plan.

Trent Steelman

Great exhibits. Navigation can be maze-like sometimes as sections are closed off and floors only accessible via specific elevators, not even stairs.

Thandolwethu Jele

Beautiful place. I enjoyed the Infinite Blue exhibition, seeing Titus Kaphar's work, works by famous European artists.

Mel Jiang

So much fun especially on a hot day outside. It's not over packed like MET, yet it has combination vibe of met and Moma! If you are nearby and dislike crowds, come to Brooklyn museum! You can easily spend hours here.

Marta Wyngaard

Coming to NYC for visit, I always plan to come to Brooklyn but get sidetracked by things in the island. This time, I decided to stay in Brooklyn to have the time to go to the museums and parks here and was not disappointed. The Brooklyn museum is beautiful. The exhibits were impressive and the space of the museum very inviting. I will suggest you to take the time to visit the museum because it has very interesting exhibits, and it has a service where you download an app and can ask questions about different pieces on the exhibits, and that is great.

Anthony Young

Brooklyn Museum Is A Good Thing To be able to get to see you in person

Thomas Collins

WIADCA's events at the brooklyn museum for the labor day weekend was AWESOME

Daniel McNamara

Fantastic museum. Always thoughtfully provocative. Always reminding us of the humanity--and sometimes inhumanity--in art. BRAVO!

WiLL Hefner

Explore Brooklyn and it’s beautiful museum with lots to offer from old artifacts to lots to learn about history.theres always great events and first of the months parties that’s free.

J R

We can in town to see the Frida exhibit. Was truly amazing. Worth the trip from Wisconsin. The museum is unbelievably huge. We loved every moment of it. Definitely will be back.

Julie Gutierrez

First time here, what a wonderful museum. Went for Pierre Cardin exhibit, it was great. Amazing & beautiful clothes, hats & more! Also heard a concert ensemble !

Joe Rosenthal

Top floor is great. The others not so much.

Jussi Mononen

The great unknown museum in NYC.

Eduardo Ramirez

Very big museum with a vast encyclopedic collection of art. Superb Egyptian galleries. Outstanding center for feminist art. Extensive display of pieces on staorage. Temporary exhibitions are a mix of blockbusters and more esoteric names. Maybe their holdings are not as famous as in other NYC museums, but a visit here is always a pleasure. Open until very late (10 PM) on Thursdays and first Saturday of the month.

Louis Gaetjens

Awesome place. Community oriented, where almost everyone seems to have a voice.

Margarita Shelankova

Great place to visit, enjoy and relax from Indian summer heat.

Marcos Martinez

You know there’s always something good showing at the Brooklyn Museum. The exhibits are usually a good mix of classical, contemporary and modern art, and the curators dear to challenge societal norms. It’s definitely a place where you feel like your money goes into some good stuff!

Michael Maulella

Every piece of art on every floor are mesmerizing. You can spend days there, just don't touch anything security is everywhere. Some pieces you get even get too close to. My experience was delightful. I'm planning another trip in the Spring time...museum and then Brooklyn botanical gardens are next to each other.

Steve Paff

TR exhibition is outstanding. Very thought-provoking.

chris johnson

Great Museum! Pierre Cardin exhibit was stunning! The permanent collection contains some important works. Nice museum off the beaten Manhattan path.

Daniel Yu

Expansive museum that has a multiple wings. Be prepared to spend a day to look and read everything. The museum hosts a special event every first Saturday of the month where it will get packed since admission is free (instead of the typical donation-based admission fee). If nightlife energy is your style, I'd recommend it, otherwise, visit any other day.

Jack Graziano

Beautiful art! Definitely recommending heading off the beaten path and looking at the archive drawers and cases. Fun photo opportunities and really beautiful Central, South, and Native American art. The gallery shows the full range of art from all demographics of the America's.

Raymond Ellis

This is a great museum. I mostly viewed the Egyptian Art during my visit. There were many interesting artifacts on display. I really enjoyed it. Very informative signage, as well. I learned a lot

Vi Vo

It's more extensive and elaborate than you may think! Full of beautiful surprises!

Eva Schicker

The Brooklyn Museum is an important and exciting cultural hub for all art lovers, artists, musicians, fashionistas, art historians, and revelers alike. The Museum’s monthly First Saturday’s are day and night extravaganzas that you don’t want to miss. They’ve become important networking events of who’s who. The museum’s exhibitions are carefully curated to attract a wide range of art tastes and interests. Do visit. The museum is easily reached by the 2 & 3 metro lines.

Alexander Barbot

Currently under construction, but most of the exhibits they have are striking. Thought provoking with subtle messages it's amazing. And the park is a few steps away.

NATASHA T

My absolute favorite museum. There is such a variety of things to see. From planets to vases to art to figurines. This is the must see musem. It's definitely worth the price. The cafeteria is expensive as well as the store inside. However the store inside is very nice and has a beautiful selection of items. A must see!

Breianna Wallace

Lots of interesting art. Involves the community of students to share their drawings and such.

Lixinr Lilly

Great museum! From ancient to modern, there are sculptures, photographs or paintings. Exciting art show! worth taking the time to explore.

Computer Plus

Been in NY for 9yrs and it's my first time. It's a cool thing to see

Wilfred Figaro

A wonderful place to visit the folks here are friendly and will answer most of your questions so drop by and enjoy

Scott Strait

Great collection, amazing staff, easy to get to and a great way to spend the day.

Kirsten DeHaven

It’s donation based! Super accessible. I only saw the exhibit on stonewall because we had to leave, but wish I could have stayed for the other exhibitions. I will definitely be back.

Daniella Chase

Egyptian Exhibition is very interesting.

Diane Gillespie

Space to think when you view their collection. Good new exhibits. A wonderful museum to spend hours in. I never tire of going there

Jay Bee

Brooklyn Museum never disappoints ! Never! This is the kind of museum you wanna visit each six months . You always know you will find something unique. The attendees are always the coolest people in town - from artists to religious people - and yes - the extreme happens right there !

조영기

The history of the ancestors of mankind and the place we have created today. Located in a secluded area in the suburbs, it is a resting place for urbanites. There is also a large park nearby, suitable for family outing with children.

Miron Lior

Pier Cardin exhibit is very well done. The rest of the museum is great as well.

Crystal Ruthford

Today my family and I went to the Brooklyn Museum to see Kitty Carnival. It was very exciting. I saw three of my friends from school. And some of my mom's friend's kids as well. And the different costumes were very fancy and culturize in different colors to show different Islands of the Caribbean. For example Guyana, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Bahamas, Jamaica, Etc.

Edward Delfino

The Brooklyn Museum is NYC’s 3rd largest museum. The current building opened in 1897. They have a nice ancient Egyptian collection, but also have many important American art pieces including Gilbert Stuart’s famous portrait of George Washington. They also have paintings by Monet, van Gogh, Renoir, Tolouse-Lautrec and many other beautiful works. It’s located near the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza arch, so if you come in to Brooklyn, you can kill 3 birds with one stone.

Margie Nix

Pierre Cardin fashions were outstanding. So creative. Enjoyed the JR Chronicles. Both worth the trip to Brooklyn.

Brian Pita

This is an excellent museum, with a mix of historic, modern, and cultural art collections. The building is stunning throughout; it’s also an excellent reprieve from the heat of the city.

Will Koehrsen

A stellar art museum in Brooklyn with a wide range of exhibitions for all tastes. This is one of the top attractions in Brooklyn and it's easy to spend an entire day here looking at all the works of art. There is a diverse range of artwork that should appeal to everyone in the family! I highly recommend visiting the Brooklyn museum for both visitors and natives (who can pay whatever they like). Brooklyn is fortunate to have so many wonderful, high-quality cultural institutions.

Jeremy Bayone

Outstanding experience. Took my family here to see the modern art and we had a great time. Kid friendly. Spent 4 hours here and could have stayed longer. Delicious food too!

Shantaze Bright

Love this museum very popular place

Cristian Gautier

Admission price is by donation, pay what you want! The collection is very varied and has works of artists from around the world. The building itself is a beautiful structure. The restaurant and cafe are expensive so I recommend having lunch or snack somewhere else. Avoid early hours since a lot of school groups go there early and can make your experience not so great.

Susan Petrizzo

Very much enjoyed the museum. The exhibits were well laid out and educational, the people were lovely and so were the grounds. Unfortunately, Brooklyn is a little out of our normal commuting range, but I would definitely go back if we had reason to be in the area again and recommend it to anyone who is.

Lucais Horsley

My friend and I went to the Brooklyn Museum (suggested admission price) to see the JR Chronicles. It is an exhibit replete with murals, photographs, videos, dioramas, etc. Photographs of monumental size stud the walls with subjects having fun making grotesque faces for the camera. These photos are pasted onto walls of public spaces - many times illegally. This multi-media installation is not to be missed. You'll spend an entire afternoon at this exhibit alone. In another gallery on the same floor (the first) is an exhibit of prints from the 15th to 20th centuries. It is a large collection very worthwhile seeing. Don't miss both of these wonderful exhibits.

Xperia x

Brassfest 2019 with KES... Savannah Grass. It was awesome. Didn't actually visited the museum. It was way past closing time.

Tremain Hedden-Jones

Loved the Cardín exhibit. The museum is great and really excellent works by amazing artists.

Douglas Ennis

A world class art museum with excellent special exhibitions throughout the year. Next to Bklyn Botanic Gardens, Prospect Park and Bklyn Public Library(main branch)etc.

migutz

Great public museum - went primarily to see the Pierre Cardin Future Fashion exhibit.

Sara Swinehart

This museum is such a treasure. The staff is exceptionally helpful and informative. Space and be tricky to navigate without a map. Cafe with food and drink available on the first level.

Barbara Coll

I love the Brooklyn Museum. I always spend three or four hours there. I try and at least once a year.

Cynthia Romano

The Brooklyn Museum is a must see in NYC. They constantly show great exhibits and have an impressive permanent collection. I was a member for years and enjoyed the opening parties.

Master Hissal

They say they love their members? Why do they make us stand in line for an hour to get tickets? 1 person serving members. 4 serving noon-members...

Warren Shapiro

This venerable museum is on roll as is its borough.. When visiting the museum don’t forget the very nearby botanical garden, Washington and Vanderbilt Streets plus Park Slope.

Jaime Navarro Jr

Excellent organization. Well kept.

Desiree Mercury

Actually went here for a concert back in the summer, so I didn't get to explore indoors. But I had a great time at the concert. Great venue.

Victoria Calhoun

Went to apply for passports. Would love to learn to use the available resources better. Passport apps completed and pics taken there as well. Lovely place with lots of activities for the entire family.

tommyb709

show of 500 years of drawings and prints was spectacular. European paintings exhibit a little disappointing. much of museum closed to change exhibits. our bad timing...

Lisa Ferreira

First Saturday quite awesome. A lot of fun

Una Butler

Gorgeous museum. I visited for the first time to see the Freda Khalo exhibition. It is impressive and informative. If you are interested in her life and work, I recommend a visit. I took the time to see watch the videos and these added hugely to my enjoyment. I also got some really interesting insights to Mexico especially during her life.

Charlemagne Woolley

I loved this place . Wonderful arts are exposed. I particularly appreciated the Egyptian section with such a wonderful history.

MaryLouise Patterson

The Freida Kahlo exhibit was fantastic: a full presentation of her life. Integrating her politics, her health issues, her love life, her politics which gave the words for and her heart which infused the passion and pride in her rich and beautiful Mexican heritage. I loved it. Very well curated.

E Love

It’s pretty disappointing to plan a weekend trip to New York City for several months, and to find out after you’ve arrived in town that the Brooklyn Museum has decided to close several of its exhibits for the weekend, including the Egyptian exhibit, which is the one you had specifically intended to visit. We ended up heading to another museum that has the good sense to not close very popular exhibits on the weekend with minimal advance notice....

Sude K

I absolutely love the Brooklyn Museum - they have amazing collections and special exhibits. The are several floors and they’re all very large, so you’ll probably have to spend a good couple of hours at least to make sure you see everything. Definitely do visit here.

Oscar Lopez

You can't go wrong with a trip here any day you need some relaxing inspiration.

Alvin Ho

Small museum you can get through in about 1-3 hours. If you want a more manageable museum than the Museum of Natural History, you can come here and visit the Botanical Gardens afterwards. Has a very nice Egypt Hall and a new Asian wing. The Asian wing is small however. Admission is very generous and is suggested admission- you pay as much as you wish. Place is very wheelchair accessible and elevators everywhere. The subway station brings you right under the museum and is very easy to find.

Monique Brown

I went there with my client and was spirited to learn that I didn't have to pay. The museum have great exhibits. A nice place to wander in on a rainy day.

Mika Williams

There was a spring fling pop up market when we came, nice event to enjoy right outside the museum. The museum itself has lots of interesting art, the building is nice. Restrooms are pretty clean considering the amount of traffic coming in and out constantly.

Andre S. M. Valente

Nice museum with a variety of types of art. Seems larger than it really is. Lots of themed exhibitions. Tickets are not really fixed, you can pay what you want. We had to wait in line for 30 min to buy tickets. They need to improve the process urgently (e.g., add some machines, or sell on the web site).

Valerie Robinson

Love the museum. I almost never go but I went on First Saturday a friend wanted to see the Frieda Kahlo exhibit. It was interesting. Some of the things I saw and loved about museum was the dance party in the rotunda on the second floor, a feminist movement and 4 sexual history. It was a beautiful evening.

yvngmedvsa

This place is nothing short of fantastic! I knew it would be a great experience from when I first walked through the doors and spotted a giant spinning ice cream cone with oozing chocolate and all. 5 levels of high quality exhibitions, enough to get lost in for a few hours. It’s a beautiful building and guest services were very kind and helpful. It’s also a great escape on a hot day with a cute cafeteria and guest WiFi. TIP: Catch the elevator to level 5 and work your way down. TIP: Don’t bring backpacks as you’ll have to leave them in coat check.

Susan Orefice

Excellent place to enjoy the arts and culture from around the world

Svetlana Bugrimova

It is very beautiful museum! The only problem l noticed - not all employees are welcoming. Maybe it was late and they were just tired. But still a little bit of smile would be better:) Otherwise great, great place!

Alexandra Aldrich

A terrific resource and place to spend time in Brooklyn. Being in a metropolitan area which is just lousy with museums, TBM doesn't get as much press as it should, and tends to be somewhat under-rated. It's a beautiful landmark and a comfortable place to roam around. It's got great permanent things to see any day of the week, and they really do work exceptionally hard to put on shows which rival the acquisitions of their slightly tonier Manhattan counterparts. A+

Jeffrey Friedland

A great asset for Brooklyn with a long history. A very nice collection and the museum is not overwhelming like the Metropolitan Museum or the Philadelphia Art Museum. We went to see the Pierre Cardin exhibition, which is a must see.

Kara Barber

Pretty good museum though not my favourite. I will visit again to see more but these are a few paintings that I liked.

qing tian

The Stonewall exhibit is a must see! Loved the chance to see Judy Chicago's Dinner Party. The Egyptian and art nouveau sections always lovely

Miss Fab

Always a great time at this beautiful museum. Don’t forget to check out for Saturday’s!

Kraig Blue

The best museum I have worked at since returning to NYC. Great staff, great art, wonderful area.

Chengxiang Yuan

Despite the closure of quite a number of exhibits, this is still a great museum. The special Pierre Cardin exhibit was pretty awesome, with appropriate contemporary movies and videos to give the context. There was also an ad-hoc capoeira show outside the museum when I went there. Definitely a place to visit!

Artist Temple

Target's First Saturdays. Free. Fun. Dance. See art. Make art. Watch a film. Dance some more. 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. tha 1st Saturday of each month EXCEPT September. Did you hear me say FREE?

DéAnna Ramos

The Brooklyn museum is an awesome gem that I've never visited before. Its spacious and has many levels of interesting exhibits. The cost is "pay what you want" and there are fun kiosks to buy drinks and snacks at. The particular day I visited the museum there was a band playing close to the entrance and it was great to hear a local band. Definitely a great spot to visit on Saturday. Be sure to wear your walking shoes because there's tons to see.

Moshe Stempel

Great place to see random weird stuff.

Tyrus Curtis

The place is good to bring your children on a rainy day. The place however had limited exhibits for the price you were paying. It was a decently good experience.

Breeonna Reed

Great exhibitions. Be prepared to spend 2-3hrs to get through the entire museum.

Mary Vey

Pierre Cardin exhibit so worth seeing. What a futuristic gift he had

Valerie Wong

Very unique, modern museum. When you walk in, the place is set up in vibrant colors with lots of public room space. This museum does stand out from many others in my opinion. Though I do believe that certain exhibits were a bit cluttered with stuff. Just felt like there were times that there was too much happening at once, but overall, a very good experience.

meagan simms

Amazing exhibits! Greatly appreciate the inclusion of feminist and LGBTQ+ artists/art. The Egyptian art was also absolutely breathtaking and informative. Thursday nights, the museum is open late and free after 5pm.

Ramesh Ramlogan

I went there for two events during the Caribbean Carnival festivities. The people were well behaved and friendly. Remember same time next year ( 2020) if you appreciate Steelpan Music , the only musical instrument invented in the 21st century.

Bindey Joy

I enjoyed visiting this museum. They have big space and wonderful exhibits. Should visit at least once and of course don't forget to visit the beautiful Brooklyn botanical garden next to it!

Mz Cain

Very pretty place from what I seen. I didn't have time to tour the whole thing.

Ronthecity ronthecity

I love Brooklyn museum , nice place to get away and take in the art , bk stand up

Carol Loyal

Come on First Fridays!!!! The museum is free, it's such a night time event, and a perfect date night/friend date night. I loved it when I went during the day, but at night it feels so exclusive and is such a fun family friendly "night on the town". We went during the Frida Kahlo exhibit free Friday, and it was so fun getting to see her exhibit and learn more about her, her inspirations, and her work through her art in BK museum. Manageably sized museum to thoroughly go through and not feel exhausted at the end, and if you come during the day it's next to Prospect Park for more shenanigans after your museum trip. Will be back!!

Vidhi K M

I love this museum. The museum has some awesome exhibits. I went to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit, which was nice. The museum is has a lot of different exhibits throughout the year. Would recommend a visit.

Xen Walker

Wow! Incredible exhibits. Beautiful building structure. Great cafe eats, and courtyard sitting, has a subway stop right at the front. Close to park, botanical garden. Helpful folks.

Duane Middleton

It's been forty years since I've been to the Brooklyn Museum was looking for more Egyptian hearts art unfortunately unfortunately they do not have much at all.

Giacomo Bossa

Beautiful building, impressive collection. They have a super helpful bag and coat check they can even store your luggage if you want to visit before heading for the airport. The collection to my understanding is shared with the MET and is just magnificent.

Brayden Mora

We love art museums, and we loved this one! We were in NY during a SWELTERING weekend, so we spent most of the day here visiting just about every exhibit/gallery. I always check to see if a museum has anything by Edward Hopper — & since this museum does, we planned a visit! Fortunately we were able to see the Hopper, but much of the 5th floor/American wing was closed for renovations — so that was disappointing! We were please to learn that Judy Chicago’s “The Dinner Party” is in the museum, so we spent a good portion of time checking that out (look for the booklet on the work as you enter). We did venture out for lunch at a nearby cafe as the prices at the Norm restaurant were way to high for a quick lunch.

Dorle Webster

Perfect size museum AND we can come and go all day! Pierre Cardin exhibit is FABULOUS!

Max Dynin

Very good Egyptian collection, Asian and Nstive American collections small, but fine. European art rather sparse, but there are a few masterpieces (Frans Hals, Theodore Géricault, Camillw Corot, Claude Monet, Vassily Vereshchagin). Most personnel are very nice, some extremely rude, hence one star fewer.

Carlos D. Otero

Really cool exhibitions. Really friendly tour guides. And free admission for people 19 and under. Probably my favourite place on my trip.

Roland Hoffmann

What a nice museum! We came to see the Carnegie free concert and had the best time. The exhibits are important and accessible, unlike the Manhattan counterparts.

Dave Dominick Reid

Excellent exhibits, great restaurant, relaxed environment

Nejc Haberman

One of the must visit places if you are in Brooklyn. The building itself it's already very impressive and there are lots of treasures from China, Korea, Egypt and American art. And check for the free tour. Also a good place to leave your bags safe and it's free.

Petra Bydžovská

It's an amazing, incredibly beautiful museum. The shows are awesome. I was there on Thursday night and there was nobody else there. Superb.

Monique Sterling

Finally took a visit during the summer and loved it!

John Wulforst

This museum has American art, South American art, Egyptian and African art in addition to many more areas. This museum also has a restaurant and also a snack area with tables. I recommend going to this museum if you’re in Brooklyn.

Dorothy Griffiths

I always enjoy visiting this illustrious edifice. The displays are intriguing, informative and priceless. Only problem the general visiting public lack class. They behaved real loud and uncouth during each tour.

Kitajuice Bank

It's a very beautiful place to visit and events to attend

Michael Shor

This is a beautiful museum for sure, with an amazing collection of art and history. The place was well-curated, and displayed a lot of interesting stuff. Overall, visiting a place like New York, museums like this are a must-see from my point of view.

Rona Simpson

Beautiful place, parking , accessible to public transportation and interesting exhibits

Louis Botha

A very cool museum to visit for a day or even a couple of hours, there are 5 floor with modern and historical art there is a whole floor about Egypt and mummies other floors have some modern art and pictures. Very fun visit, I recommend visiting it you have time.

Tamara Mavroides

Orchid sales after night lit orchid show was wonderful. Bought white yellow lavender orchids still blooming 1mo the later.

Tolu

I love this place. Keeps this borough grounded in arts and culture

Cindy Yu

Great night learning about how the Chinese collection was curated with a tour lead by the exhibition's curator. Loves the stories behind the pieces and how they were acquired or designed for the museum.

Alyssa Booth

I love this museum and if your like under 19 you can get in for free. It’s quiet as well since not many people even realize it’s there.

Miguelito

This is a great museum to wander about. Lots of artifacts during the Egyptian times. Lot of very informative pieces of history that will make you re-think of how human civilization exists in other parts of the world. The dinner table with different interpretations of artists was amazing. The open area reminded me of that era where people celebrated life in so much glamour.

Natalie Pierre

The exhibits are awesome!! They are always fresh and frequently updated. There's something for everyone to enjoy ferrin the young to the old. Target First Saturday's are also very exciting and a lot of fun!!

Vinicius Duval da Silva

Carefully curated collection. The exhibitions are not overwhelmed by pieces. The building is beautiful and has historical value. Recommended!

Mark B Borg Jr

What's not to love, eh!? Amazing exhibitions (for instance the David Bowie) and what could be better than that Target First Saturdays!?! I mean, really, we have had blast after blast at this joint Saturday after Saturday for years! In fact, the night that I got the call from the woman who was to be--still is--my wife called me while I was partying down at First Night---so, you gotta know I've got some gold standard associations to this place!!!!

Tiffany Jones

I have always loved the museum since I was a child they made a lot of improvement since I last been there

Jerry Sarfati

Nice place with an eclectic mix of Art. First Saturday each month is free (check the web site)

Anne Fernandena

I came from the city on the subway, which leaves you right off at the museum. It was not hard at all. The museum took all day. There is a lot to look at. There was an exhibit on Pierre Cardin, which costs a few dollars extra. Which was huge. And, right now they are changing exhibits. So, one floor was closed. But, still so much stuff. They sell food, if you want to take a break. Also, tables and chairs outside. Very nice. Bring comfortable shoes.Enjoy!

Milagro Da'Greatest PERIOD

I had fun at Jr Chronicles

George Rivera

Wonderful place to be on First Saturday of the month. Enjoyed the Afro Latin theme playing on the 3rd floor.

KK Millwood

Great place to visit. As a vegan the cafe now offers vegan options! You can learn about history in addition to a great party for the community which usually occurs on the first Saturday of each month.

Sharon Robinson

Staff are respectful right now in the lobby their is a ice cream Sunday sculpture. Great place for families with children. Peaceful relaxed environment.

Arnie Schlissel

This is a spectacular art museum. Some noteworthy collections: ancient Egypt, American paintings, Rodan sculptures. The first Saturday of every month has free admission in the evening, often with dancing.

Leonides Ruiz

Although the museum itself is beautiful and the exhibits are well executed, my experience was less than favourable. I went to this museum with a coworker and 6 young kids (we work at an afterschool/camp). We were let in without a problem but after spending an hour observing the exhibits, I was approached by a security guard who informed me that we should be careful. He said other security guards may give us a hard time because the children had backpacks (not bulky ones I may add) and we are supposed to bring them to bag check . After telling me this my coworker and I decided it's best to leave. The first security guard then proceeded to tell a female security guard about us and she then followed us into the elevator and out to the lobby (practically escorting us out). She then said something to front desk about us as we left. Not only was it disrespectful, (considering we were not aware of the rules/ were NOT told when getting the tickets) the kids also felt very uncomfortable. If we were made aware of the problem with bags we would have gladly gave then to bag check. So unprofessional.

A & E Zinn

Great cultural spot on a par with other great metropolitan museums.

Rajesh K.Roy

Its a very nice place. I went after the museum was closed and was only open for Macaulay Honors College. I felt like the Egyptian collection were pretty good than other collections like European, and American, etc. We were only able to see 3rd and 5th floor. Rest of then were under construction. Over all it wass pretty cool to hangout with friends and feel the past.

Aaron K

Really nice place for events.

CAROLINA GONZALEZ GOMEZ

I've been in this museum several times and never has disappointed me. They always have super interesting exhibitions. It's also right by the Brooklyn Botanical garden with lots of options for great brunches. This makes an awesome plan for the weekend.

J'adore Andy

Vendor - Work here annually with my photobooth in the Beaux Arts Court area. Really simple load in and hassle free exit. Staff is always attentive to our needs. The interior is obviously phenomenal. Wish I had more time to explore. Always look forward to working here by chance. Can't go wrong booking your next event here! Not sponsored, just telling it like it is.

Rachelle Louis

Free, nice exhibits and music selections. Coat check service is not available after 7:30PM and the museum was a bit warm.

Olive Rose Liverpool

Great atmosphere for tourist and locals to learn about the art. Educational for the young ones. Clean environment. Eateries on the first floor.

don schwartz

Love the Brooklyn, especially the current Feminist showcase. The Visible Storage is a place to spend days exploring. Open drawers to discover jewelry, coins or artifacts. Look through the furniture stacks or slide the panels of paintings. Truly a wonderful gift to the people of Brooklyn

Johny Miyagi

The Brooklyn museum was an absolute delight! Such beautiful and intricate pieces on display, as well as some thought provoking images on display for their current exhibits.

Cynthia Joseph

You should take a tour of Museum with a renewed sense of curiosity. On Saturday they have free entrance so that you can enjoy the exhibits. We loved it!!!

Michelle Fernandez

Beautiful place.. one of the best museums I have visited

Kristopher Sevill

It has been more than 30 years since our last visit to the Brooklyn Museum (back when we lived in the city). It is a nice place with an oddly varied permanent collection. Seeing The Dinner Party by Judge Chicago was a throwback to the early 1980's; it reminded me of my deceased feminist mother. F'ne collection of works on paper from the museum's permanent collection; set of materials in blue; detailed exposition of Egyptian mummification, photos by Garry Winogrand. And the "pay what you want" feature, formerly used at the Metropolitan Museum, is a live and well at the Brooklyn.

noelkevin611

Great location easy to access near major transportation. Bus, subway, car even bicycle access. Definitely worth visiting

Gabriel Flores

Every first Saturday of the Moth the Brooklyn Museum has a night of music and culture. It is an amazing experience. Lot of friendly people gather together in a safe environment to share their love for good music and to socialize. It is a free event. I can't wait to go to the next one. Don't miss it

AB Pryor

This a great facility. Easy to navigate. It's center near the Bklyn Botanical Gardens & the Public Library...and the Park. I wish their website was a little easier to navigate. Nonetheless, I purchased a membership and look forward to multiple returns over the next year. Easy to reach via subway.
