This place was fantastic! I had a great time going through this place seeing all the different exhibits. The tickets into tinker town are an excellent price for what you get. This is the kinda place where the more you come the more things you notice. I would definitely recommend a stop into this place!
Great, loved it, so much to see, amazing e exhibits for any age
This place is simply amazing. Every inch and foot has something that catches your eye and you see something different all the time. Be prepared to spend at least 90 minutes so you can take your time to enjoy!
It's definitely New Mexico true , and well worth the $ 3 75 price. Be sure to check out the online pictures of all the intricately carved dioramas, and that will convince you. Also seem to be a great place for kids when I was there! On the way to Sandia Crest so you can cool off after or ski, depending on the season
Really cool to walk through. Amazing art!
Best hidden away adventure! Family friendly, really neat finds. Uneven floors but well worth it!
So much to see it is overwhelming. Overwhelming in a great way. Bring some quarters to have your fortune told and to hear a one man band.
Unique place. A must see for yourself.
Amazing little place, well worth visiting. Off the beaten track.
Haven't been in years decided to bring my bf and son and they loved it!
Great place, great value, and very unique. Ther is no other place I have been quite like it.
So much detail in the exhibits I am going to have to come back just to appreciate them all.
This place is so neat. So much to see. Very very cool. The gift shop has a lot of fun stuff to buy. The owner is super nice. Add this to your list of places to go to in the Albuquerque.
Great eclectic avant-garde experience. My daughter absolutely loved the tour and the price was fair.
Magical and fun place that transports you back to childhood. Seeing the amazing displays of artworks by creator Ross Ward always brings me joy. Bring quarters for the machines!
Really artistic and creative place. I used to love coming here when I was a kid. If you have some kids and want to take them for a fun day, bring them to Tinkertown. It isn't a bad drive from ABQ. Head up, check out the museum and grab a bite at a local restaurant near by. Makes for a nice day.
Quirky little place. We went because a friend recommended it was fun for kids, but I think the kids would need to be older to appreciate it. My 4 year old just thought it was creepy :-)
Inxpensive fun for the whole family! We will be back
Very Cool "Old Stuff" Cheap Rates
This place is a mountain treasure. Your kids will love it. Fun for adults too! Bring some extra quarters for some cool mechanical fun and to get your fortune. ;) It's taken many many years to perfect this place so take your time going through it. Lots to see and the history will educate you and allow you to leave feeling happy and fulfilled. My daughter loves it as we go at least once a year. You're never too old!! Spend a couple bucks in the gift shop. Lots of unique items and friendly staff.
Love it here!! Interesting and fun for the kiddos
This place is one of a kind. The creater was so gifted, I'm glad the family continues to share his gifts.
Fun place! Great to visit after camping nearby.
Very interesting storybook place to visit.
Was intresting. Alot of hard work was put into this place. $4.00 a person.
Funky, fun spot with something for the whole family! Worth the drive if you are in New Mexico. The place has great history and great folks running it. I can guarantee Tinkertown is a place like no other!
Really a cool place and well worth an hour or two. Miniature displays of a dozen or more scenes from years ago including a house, a saloon, the circus, etc, etc. Many of the figures are hand-carved and there are so many details in each scene. And there is a ton more besides the scenes. This is a very fascinating place, mostly put together by a single man who has an interesting life story.
Cute whimsical place. But needs better upkeep. Many items are in terrible condition.
Definately unique. Eerie at times but definately worth a look!❤
Totally worth the price of admission(which wasn't much). Lots of cool stuff to look at. When you get to the end that's where I think the real treasure is at-the boat, and the story that goes with it. Last time I was there they had installed a screen in front of the boat, playing related video. Nice addition. Always want to sneak on board and explore the inside. Anyways cool place to take kids also.
Awesome tourist trap for kids or adults. 2 hours entertainment easy if you poke around.
Very interesting like it very much
If you have not been to this place you should totally go. I have been popping into this location ever since I was a child. I cannot begin to describe all the neat little Trinkets and doodads that they have laying around. You should look it up if there is a website on the interweb. It has a bunch of relics from the past. There are a bunch of swords, knives, guns, Farming tools, and industrial tools from the late 1700s, as well as the 1800s. I do believe that the artifacts represented there can be traced from the 1800s to the early nineteen-hundreds without a doubt. There is even a model of an old-time early 1900s circus. It has moving Parts, it is lit up just like it would be back in the day, and it even has the old traditional circus music that is stereotypically thought of when envisioning this particular scene. There is also an old western town model that you can push a button and make characters move around on magnetic tracks. There are many things about this location that one should check out. You will know when you are there because you will see a wall that has a bunch of alcohol / liquor bottles shoved through it. If the right time of the day you can see the light go through the bottles, and skits lights up to the wall in a very neat way. If you have not been, or you have not been there in a while. You should definitely get some friends together and go. It is $10 a person I think. Bring cash, not plastic. Please, go check this place out. You will not regret it. Definitely, without a doubt, bring the children. They will absolutely love it. Make memories for them as well
It’s so fun to see all the hard work and amazing things here , plan to spent lots of time here , enjoy
This place is wild I absolutely enjoyed it I love the little 25-cent machines that you could watch a band play an accordion type van with percussions there was a the grandma Zelda you told your fortune with which was freaky to the point that it was spot-on everyone who put a quarter in in our group we were a party of six got a fortune tool that was spot-on it was it was scary and the museum itself was so amazing there's so much to see and do it's interactive he has a dioramas that actually move mean loved it that was really a neat Place probably one of the need of places that we stopped in that area next time I go through there I'd love to go to the Sandia National Forest or state park that looked really pretty I really like that area Sandia Area Madrid the little town of Madrid is right up the road and it's really a cool artsy town as well

This place is absolutely amazing, beautiful, fun, whimsical, bizarre, and wonderful!!!
Loved this place!! So cute!! Wish I would've had longer to really explore every detail! Definitely will be a stop anytime I come to Albuquerque!!
Great way to pass an hour or two. This man created these scenarios as he had time during his lifetime.
Every time we have gone to tinkertown we always find something we missed from before. We always have a great time there
interesting and fun place to visit worth of $3.50 admission charge
Just awesome. So creative, unique and powerful.
Very cool place, I highly recommend checking this place out
Pretty cool tinkering and art. Very impressive. Thanks for sharing.
It was cute, and very intricate. Kind of cramped space when walking around.
The place was beautiful.thank you for the hospitality..was great
Fun place to take the kids, been here dozens of times will come back dozens more.
A true American folk art treasure! I had the best time. A truly unique and heart warming and happy place.
Absolutely amazing! There is stuff everywhere. It's a positive and uplifting place. I left so grateful to see it.
Eclectic museum of miniatures we were so happy we visited. An artist created this house/museum with miniature scenes of circuses, an old west town & more. Its a self guided tour. Would be great for kids, but any age will enjoy. There's a gift shop at the end with many different types of souvenirs. Beautiful tree filled lot, and the drive from old town Albuquerque was nice.
So fun and great prices.
So much to look at! Fun for all ages.
A unique place to visit. Hand carved miniature western town and circus. A big collection of very old memorabilia. Fun and inexpensive.
This is a place you should plan on staying a couple few hours if you like details, fascinating displays and more then a touch of eccentricity. The entrance fee is well worth it and it makes a good stop on the way back from Sandia Crest if you're not too tired and have enough time.
Fascinating and one of a kind!
What a beautiful and intresting place. So many places to get great pictures. Great for the family.
Unique tourist place to go visit. Great to add to a hike day.
A cute place with gathered trinkets, toys, salvaged trash art and imagination running wild and kept alive by the artist's family. Bring lots of quarters so you can operate the fortune teller, coin press and other gizmos that will make you smile. Fun, reasonable and easily combined with a trip to the top of the mountain to overlook Albuquerque. Just down the road from the musical highway (Google it - a fun patch of roadway that plays the Star Spangled Banner...)
Great fun. Well worth the time and few dollars
Great prices! Great fun! A tiny bit creepy with so many dolls
So cool...an ecliptic collection of memorabilia. A must do in the Albuquerque area.
This is a place of power. To see the love and work that went into this is amazing. Take the time to check it out.
If you’re into folk art, story telling, or strange Americans this is a must see. Lots of fun for kids too, but definitely not JUST for kids. The drive up into the mountains is nice too.
Great fun and beautiful setting. Take time to read the signs. Well worth it
Amazing collection of carvings and other art. Really cheap admission too.
What very entertaining and most interesting place.
This is a great place to explore. There is so much whimsical items here that you won't be able to see it all in one visit. The animations are terrific and will surely make you chuckle as you take in the action. Be sure to bring along a few quarters to thoroughly enjoy these dioramas. Bring the kids to this one....they will be genuinely entertained!
Super cool.... Super unique...
Fun time! Porta potties are a bummer. Not the best for kids because it's all behind glass w no hands-on activities.
It's a great family oriented place to visit with your out of town visitors location up in our own Sandia mountains
There's a lot of hand carved displays. I also like the fact that many items were recycled into the structure instead of tossed in the trash. All the children there were very intrigued,as was I.
A really cool place to duck in out of the heat with a bunch of history
Tinkertown museum is a very unique place. It offers very unique folk art. Antique stuff from the circus. You'll have a great experience for less than $4
Always a nice visit!
Awesome in all aspects and extremely unique
Visiting the Tinkertown Museum is like stepping into a different world. An authentic and fun experience!
Quirky worth 4 dollars to check it out!
This is a very impressive place where you can see so much detail and quirky little things. It's about a 30 minute drive from Albuquerque. We spent about an hour and a half here. Tinkertown is a museum of little trinkets set up as displays. It's only a couple bucks to get in and there are so many little things to see and even a few things to interact with. This would be a good place for little kids (maybe not toddlers) who can look and find all sorts of fun little trinkets and characters. This is definitely fun for the whole family. Just to note, it's covered but still outside and can still be a little cold.
An amazing collection of all sorts of items. Definitely a must-see if you're driving the turquoise trail.
Tinker town is such a special spot with an inspiring history. Truly a unique experience!
One of the coolest, quirkiest, most eccentric places you can visit. So awesome and one if a kind. Don't miss it if you're in the Albuquerque area!
Our family of 6 hadn't been here since we were a family of 4! Our 2 little ones loved it! Our daughters still love it ( even the teenage one )!!! The drive up is always nice & the staff is still amazing! I personally have been coming here for 40 years. Definitely a MUST DO when in Albuquerque.
Amazingly spectacular! You can go through the museum 10 times and every time you will see something different. The staff is quick and prompt to give you service and i am always greeted with a smile, definitely recommend attending if you are in the area!
A crazy place (in the good sense) - full of quirky stuff. The product of a very active mind and lots of hard work. Little models added together in large scenes, many automated. But it’s more than that, the narrow corridors through the shed like areas with a surprise round every corner add a great atmosphere. There is even the guy’s car covered in pennies. We walked around enjoying, wondering and marvelling. We came out thinking, what was that!? Fun and freedom come to mind. Doubt you’ll see anything like it anywhere else. It’s well worth a visit and then drive into Madrid and eat in Mineshaft Tavern. There is a different and equally interesting museum experience next door to the bar.
Old style roadside attraction. Fun for everyone.
First time going there, and I was really impressed. Love the unique items and the little pieces of history. I will be back very soon!
So much fun and lots to look at
Very interesting and lots of neat items. Teaches history and other interesting facts. Nice family owned and great prices in the gift shop. Worth going to and exploring. 51000+ bottles used in building walls. You will find so many interested things you can't see it all.
This place is amazing and very affordable. We have been here multiple times and always discover something new to see. The drive here is very scenic. Be sure to bring quarters for some of the machines they have!
We were there in the early 90’s and loved it. At that time there was a large sailboat in the back of the museum. As I recall, the owners had sailed around the world in this boat and at end of their voyage , had it towed to the museum, where it was lifted by crane over the building and placed in back of the museum. I do not see the boat in any of the photos and wonder if it still exists.
This was one interesting place.
Interesting museum!
Short and sweet. Nice way to spend at most a couple hours if ya read all the information along the walk.
The trip up here wad pleasing . We really love this place.
It was fantastic all the trinkets and crafts are beautiful! Plus it's super inexpensive. Lovely little trip perfect for a little amusement.
Step back in time and experience this treasure of memorabilia and art..There is so much to see that I'm certain I missed half.
It blew me...mind... In all seriousness it was a blast from the past, and I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to share the experience with a wonderful person...
AWESOME -- WOW -- ATTENTION TO DETAIL -- ONE OF A KIND AND A PLACE YOU'LL NEVER FORGET!! LOVED IT !!!
So much fun. Made me feel young again.
It is like walking thru someone's imagination!
This place is different and a little strange but it's quite amazing. For the most part it is many dioramas and thousands of interesting things you have to look carefully to even see a tenth of them. Make sure you talk to the people there. The sailboat 10-year trip information is amazing. Yes this place is kind of rustic I really didn't mind and had to go back again.
Love the place! Awesome artworks!
Surprising delightful side trip when driving up to see Sandia Mountains crest.
Great museum! Friendly staff.
This place is a gem and never disappoints. There's so much to see, you get a different experience every time you come.
Fantastic place for the family very interesting go you'll love it
Cheesy but cheap and fun. Make sure and pick up the scavenger hunt sheet.
It was fun. I can't imagine how one person could do so much.
Somehow a little bit odd place but definitely worth to stop and visit.
It is always an amazing experience for me and my family.
Absolutely wonderful place. Full of all kinds of curiosities. Very family friendly too.
Awsome place made me HAPPY!!!!
Awesome place for cool stuff and it's in the forest
So much fun! I can't imagine how much time it's taken to do something like this, but it's clear they love what they do. Easy to get to, good signage, simple parking. There is so much to look at! There are sections you couldn't get to in a wheelchair, FYI, and crutches or canes might find it a little more difficult but doable. Everything was so fascinating and I'm sure I didn't catch all the little details. Just amazing.
This place is absolutely amazing. I will say there is so much to see unless you give yourself about 4 hours you will never see everything and even then you might have to visit a few times to see everything. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see what amazing craftsmanship of a true missing trade. Prices to get in are completely reasonable. I will only include a few photos as I took well over 250.
Great for all ages. Grandkids loved it.
Love this place! It might be a little creepy for some, but on the other hand, it's a quirky cool place. It's a fun feast for the eyes. Bring some quarters for the singing puppets and the fortune teller. You won't regret visiting here. They also have a quaint little gift shop, where you're sure to get a nice souvenir as well as a cold drink and a snack. The only downside is that there are no restrooms, just one outhouse. But other than that, it's a perfect little stop. If you're speedy , you can go through in an hour, but if you like to gawk and dawdle, figure on 2 hours.
Its really interesting and takes you back to different time periods with very detailed work. Very unique adventure for a small price. The backstory is interesting as well.
Such an amazing place to visit. Loved it!
What a truly artistic, creative, inspirational place - and so much fun. The exhibits are fascinating for kids and adults, and I loved learning about the artist from his wife, who runs the place now. Beautiful setting in the mountains. Take your time to read the quotations! Bring quarters - you will want to try out all fun old timey coin-op machines.
i love this place always fun always beautiful and some pretty interesting stuff to see♡♡
Really nice employees. Super cool place to explore
A little run down but it definitely has a lot of history. A great side attraction if you want something to do for an hour.
Love this place! We've been coming here for years and will keep coming back!
So much fun!!! Kiddos loved all there was to see!!! Always so much to see!!
Cute and interesting little place to visit. Enjoyed it very much. Worth the drive and the few dollars to get in.
A VERY COOL PLACE! AMAZING!
A bit odd, but fun. Certainly alot of creativity went into making this place. Worth a look.
Amazing arts and crafts. Pure imagination and detailed miniature painted people.
The best. The more you look the more you see.
Beyond words, amazing!
A must-see place if you're visiting Albuquerque
A truly wonderful art exhibit. I believe that everyone in new mexico should make the effort to see this beautiful place. Truly a life's work.
Fabulous, amazing, needed a couple more hours to see everything.
Great local place on way to Sandia Crest.
Great exhibits. Nice and friendly folks. Sadly alot of bees be careful going around.
Worth the short trip outside of ALB. Very interesting and off the beaten path.
AMAZING! Plan to spend at least an hour here, minimum, if you really want the full Tinkertown experience! So much to look at, read, and interact with. Also, bring LOTS of quarters (or get change when you buy your ticket(s). One of those rare places that actually IS fun for ages 9-99!!
Blast from the past. Very much worth stopping and seeing and well worth the small fee to see. Brought a lot of history and memories for us.
This off the beaten path museum is totally unique. It is well worth the effort to visit.
uniquely special place in the mountains highly recommended
Such a fun place. Very interesting history and its almost like walking back through time. They are super friendly and its a good way to spend a few hours just looking at everything they have. My mom just loved it when she came down.
Very nice the kids around us loved it
Love all the exhibits, moved scine owner died.
Fun little stop to take the family
This is a fun unique place full of little details, hand made trinkits and nostalgia. Also whittiy quotes. Bring some quarters to operate the nostalgic machines. I do recommend a visit. Plan to be slow to catch all the small details.
Such a cool place to go to! I was pleasantly surprised because I had not idea what to expect. Colorful and fun, as well as historical. You have to stop at the gift shop! Cool stuff to buy!
This place is simply one of a kind. It is worth side trip.
There is no way to describe Tinkertown, it's just magical. Go. You will not regret it.
Most unusual little place just off Route 66 north of Albuqueque. Not a lot of parking for RV's but by going half a mile past you can do a U-turn then park outside the museum. Inexpensive, it is filled with thousands of hand carved figures in various scenes. Also a huge selection of other oddities & curios. Too offbeat to miss. Kids & adults will love it.
Not handicap friendly. Lots of old miniature items to look at. Interesting and very inexpensive. Worth trying it once.
Very interesting set of eclectic art
Had a nice time wasn't there in many yrs
Inimitatable! A must see. Pure art. "This is a real nice atmosphere Barkee'r. I like the sawdust on the floor - - That ain't sawdust - - it's last night's furniture!"
What an odd experience this was...Lots to look at. Worth the stop!
This place is awesome and so is Carla, the owner. I ended up arriving about five minutes after closing, trying to get there in time to make some smashed pennies for my collection. Carla was kind enough to let me in to use the machine quickly. After I smashed my pennies she recommended that I get fortunes from her vintage Grandma Fortune Teller machine for myself and my adult kids, who were on a road trip with me. After getting the cards and getting back on the road we read the cards and were surprised at how accurate they were. I can't wait to come back someday and do the full tour.
One of my favorite places for inspiration...a true hidden gem
So much fun!!! The kids loved it. It was a great family day and we were able to go out doors after and hike around. Great place
