You must have seen that it reaches an feddbacks average is practically the highest, and it's based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may think that the evaluation is very accurate. If many people have bothered to give their feddback when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to write opinions when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Museum belongs to the category of Science museum.
If you want to know more about New Mexico"s and Alamogordo 's involvement in the space program this is the place. They have a hands on exhibits for children and adults can play too. It was fun to be able to interact with the exhibits.
Very interesting history lesson Dennis our guide was very good and informative. We enjoyed it.
Great museum with plenty to see for all ages. Highly recommend.
This was fun. My son loved!
If you're in the area, it's a must see. Full of history and many physical attractions.
It was a great time. The entrance definately entertained all of us. So cool that this is the first impression you get. Very fun to see so many items through the museum. Even though you pay for it the digital planetarium is amazing. The kids loved every minute of the museum.
Nice museum with some great exhibits. However, devoting an entire section to Star Trek was absurd. It really cheapens the actual real achievements of the space program. And putting Walter Cronkite in the hall of fame cheapens the difficult and dangerous work the real men and women did. Just to enlighten those not familiar, Star Trek was a fictional TV series about future space travel and Walter Cronkite read the news. I'm not sure I would bring any children as they might be easily confused. The accomplishments of the men and women of the space program were truly significant beyond what we see today. They were not a fantasy created by Hollywood or some guy reading the news.
we loved it, hadn't been back there in around 30 years, was surprised to see it hasnt changed at all. It was still an awesome experience for the kiddos. I recommend watching the films.
Very informative on US space history.
Great museum with many NASA and other space agency artifacts. We'll laid out with walkways leading all around the outdoor exhibits. They have a pretty nice gift shop inside with a variety of space/science fiction related merchandise. There is a theater here to for an informational view on space exploration. Didn't catch the price though. The grave of the first US monkey in space can also be found here
So clean and there are so many things to do there not just learning but fun activities for kids and adults. Highly recommend!!
The museum was under construction so we didn't get to see everything but overall it was pretty interesting. We enjoyed the outside attractions the most.
Really fun place! My kids had a great time. It has a covered playground to complete the fun.
Really neat place to visit and see how the local area has played such a large part in space exploration and military defense!
This place was great. Kids loved it.
Almost exactly as I was when I went 2 decades ago. And that's the only problem. Needs to be updated but it's still great fun and a great learning experience for kids.
Great place to learn about space history, but also basin history.
Very interesting, and great displays.
Very nice facilities and interesting stuff
Very informative. A lot of cool exhibits if you love space history and rockets. Might not be for everyone, but I thought it was interesting. For those with kids, there is a little playground outside.
Updating my review from years ago... This is a gem! A must see when in the area. We arrived early and got to see everything without people pollution!
Absolutely amazing, if you are a space nerd you must go.
The exhibits are somewhat interesting, but they have maybe 100 sq ft worth of exhibits spread over 4 stories. The Star Trek exhibit was pretty good, but is that appropriate in a science museum? Pretty good for families with small children. When we went, the elevator was out, so families with people in wheelchairs were unable to get to the exhibits at all. Might want to call ahead and ask.
This place has lots for kids and adults and the staff is always really friendly. We love coming here everytime we're in town.
Very adult orinted exhibits in the sense that most are not interactive (inside the building) and have lots of text to read. Nice playground outside for kids and old equipment to look at. Nice planetarium
Very interesting, having fun while learning about the space program
The ribs were ok, brisket was good, baked beans for the price of a pint tasted like a can of pinto beans opened and poured into a container with some tasteless sauce. The cle slaw would have been better had it not been loaded with sugar. Price on the high side
So much stuff to look at/learn from! Spent a few hours here and would go back again next time!
Great little piece of space history. I quite enjoyed myself. I would bring company here if they were into it.
Great educational experience on U.S. rocket history for the old and young!
Neat little diversion, worth a few hours if you are out by white sands and want to get inside
It's a really cool museum, I would go back. Staff is over the top helpful and knowledgeable. Great place
Pretty interesting museum, great place to learn and spend family time, enjoyed it very much, there's plenty of parking, and lots to see.
Such a fun day trip! We didn't even know this was in the area but I was so excited when we found out. It was definitely worth the trip, it is fun, informative and inspiring. We even saw wild Lynx outside the windows! Great trip for families and space lovers. Awesome gift shop as well. I loved it!
I love museums... if you do... you'll like this place... isn't huge like the ones in DC... but it's a nice one...plus the view of the valley and White Sand is increadible
Very cool place. There's quite a bit of rocket history and I would hope so given it's proximity to White Sands. I suppose I expected the displays to look more professional and to be a little less campy. They're likely operating on a shoestring budget as it is, as are most museums. Overall a really nice place and we enjoyed our visit.
I LOVED this place as a kid. I was excited to take my own kids. But, this place looked exactly the same. A lot of the exhibits were very outdated and broken. This place has the potential to be something great but it appears to be frozen in time.
Great museum with a lot of real space history from the area. Will definitely visit again because there is no way to see everything with detail in a single short visit.
Absolutely love this place! They have plenty to do and learn. Whether you are a hands on learner or visual everyone can learn something new! It also makes for just a nice place to visit and walk around history.
Nice Museum with displays inside, a Space outside. Also with daily shows in the Planetarium..
Loved this place. It was interesting and fun for adults and also had plenty for older kids to do. (Not really a place for toddlers.) Space and rocket-related history. Had a whole section on Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek, which is appropriate, given how many NASA people say they were inspired by Star Trek. Great place to spend an afternoon.
Really nice. I was hoping a little more
Great history, well laid out from the top down. The museum is under renovation, but it does not hinder the experience. Cost for adults is only $8. Excellent view of the Tularosa Basin with White Sands in the distance. Includes many NASA artifacts, timelines, and pics of many of the Space Hall of fame inductees as well as a wall exhibiting all the names. Educational films throughout. Activities and dress up for kids.
I’ve been coming here ever since I was a little girl. It is always so much fun! If you’re visiting, or even a local looking for something fun to do, go check it out! You’ll be amazed and leave excited!
We had a great time visiting on the weekend of the 50th anniversary of the 1st moon landing. Everyone was knowledgeable and helpful. The exhibits were well done and informative. It was really cool to find the Gene Roddenberry exhibit at the end!
Informative space museum great for children.
Fun place to learn more about space and more history than you might ever learn in school. Great for a field trip.
Great place to check out
A fun place for kids and informative for adults. It has an astonaut dress up station with a space background for cute pictures. It has a playground for kids. We also saw a "movie" at the Planetarium. Had a live narrator.
If you are around come and see it. Lots of history and cool stuff. IMAX and planetarium not a must.
The staff seemed bored and very unwelcoming. The museum was ok for an adult. The only thing for kids was an area where they could put on space suits that are probably never cleaned. The star show was terrible. The lady narrating kept messing up and apologizing to the audience and could not get her computer to work correctly. If you have kids just walk around the displayed items outside then leave.
Cool people lots of neat things to see and learn about.
Very educational and entertaining. Lots of history, spectacular views.
I call it the "Little Museum Atop a Hill". The New Mexico Museum of Space History is a 30-minute drive from the White Sands National Monument. Since I am attracted to anything concerning space, I decided to drive to the east side of Alamogordo, New Mexico to check it out. The museum is not hard to locate. In fact, you can see even a mile afar, as it is situated atop a hill. First impression: the building looks magnificent from where it stands. There’s the mountain range as its backdrop. Then there’s the view of the town below on the other side. It is advisable to take the elevator to the fourth level and start the space journey from the topmost to the bottom. From the window, you will see down below several old rockets on display outside. The various rocket components are displayed in a manner that allowed visitors to study the technological evolution of this science. I will recommend this place for anyone visiting Alamogordo, NM.
Short drive from El Paso. Kids had a blast. Some hands on activities. You start at the top floor and work your way down. So much information!!!
Awesome place to stop for families. We didn't go inside because just the outdoor park area is worth the stop. Sometime our kids can have a short attention span when it comes to exhibits.
Family friendly, theater documentary(last 25 to 30 min).
Very interesting and great for all ages!
My son really enjoyed the space suits! Well worth the time and drive.
Lots of awesome exhibits. Worth the visit.
Very interesting view of history of flight and space exploration. I make trip there at least once a year to take visiting family/friends: doesnt change much from visit to visit so they find it more of an adventure than I do. IMAX films are in separate building that you have to walk to.
If you haven't been there you SHOULD go. Very interesting and enjoyable experience. Easily spent half a day and could have stayed longer but got there mid-day and they had to close before we got all the way through. Go you will be glad you did.
Very cool to see all the exhibits.
Fun musuem for kids, space geeks and history lovers. The boy in the gift was great with my kids...he taught them about the space shuttle orbiter.
What a neat place. We had about an hour inside because we happened upon it. Could do 2 hours but probably not a lot more time needed. Did have fun outside for 30 or so minutes after. The whisper dish is amazing.
Takes maybe an hour and a half to walk through if you are reading EVERYTHING. The kids dress up area is nice and the whole family can enjoy the landing simulator. I was surprised by the Star Trek exhibit. The gift shop is nice. The is a park out front
Very good historical displays. Some sections currently under construction. Reasonable admission fees.
This is a nice place to visit with kids. Our experience was fun and educational. We did not have small children and it is geared for children. There’s a cool Star Trek area so if you are a Trekkie, you will want to check this part out. The displays out front are interesting for kids and grownups.
Great place to take the older kids to. Not for tiny kids unless you have trained them well.
My son really enjoyed the museum
This was working through some updates, so some of the other exhibits were a little disorganized.
What can I say but cool and only 6 dollars to see exhibit
A really cool place to visit. Allow yourself at least several hours and do the planetarium as well.
Awesome history, fun interactive stuff for kids and adults, and regular showings on the dome screen. They recommend calling ahead for movie showings because classes/tours can easily fill the entire theater.
Excellent space museum, with more Soviet exhibits than in many other U.S. space museums. Also a good overview of rocketry's coming of age, as well as the Little Joe 2, F-1, and other exhibits outside.
Amazing place to learn about space! Awesome artifacts
As a family we really enjoyed our time here the kids had lots of fun. Science Saturday is a must do along with visiting The New Horizons Dome Theater and Planetarium.no
Good family time...kids love it and they get to land a plane, dress like an astronaut, make rivers and the star show was fun.
A small museum that's done nicely. We especially enjoyed trying to land the shuttle and the interactive exhibit where you can feel and hear what's its like when different ships take off. Good outdoor collection as well.
Very nice museum to visit. Ham the first space chimp is buried there.
Loved this quirky museum. Plus the staff are very sweet.
Very fun! The planetarium was awesome, so was the self guided tour of the museum. They are adding new exhibits...can't wait to come back. Nice friendly staff
Under remodeling but still great for families. You can try on astronaut gear!! Outdoor playground is nice. Free admission if you have other science museum membership. Amazing view of Alamogordo!!
It was fun ( interactive) and informative
Was amazing what they had their but does need more kid focused exhibits
We went on 9/11. All Firefighters and their families got in the museum for free! My husband is a volunteer firefighter. Thank you all for that courtesy. The museum was out of this world! ...and the lady at the front that let us in that day is a true sweetheart! Thanks again!
Nicely curated, staff friendly, great experience.
To the Moon and beyond. Educational and Fun.
Liked the view from the museum. The exhibitions were pretty detailed as to the years and what they were loved the interactive exhibits they had set up. They are opening up another area so I can wait to see what it is when it's done.
What an inspiring adventure! So much to see and so much fun. Way better than the Space Center in Houston... So much hands on - all in working order. We even were able to put on astronaut suits... What a blast!
Great place to visit, it's amazing how many smart people do all this stuff.
Nice place to learn about the history of everything space flight. Didn't plan my trip there, but so glad that I went.
Well laid out and lots of neat stuff.
A decent place to go see some displays and memorabilia. The facilities are a little dated but they were preparing a new display. Could have some more hands on stuff for kids but overall it was a good experience.
Nice little surprise, even if you've been to the big name space museums. Definitely stop if you're passing through.
Great musuem with nice friendly staff. Super fireworks show. Definitely recommend to visit on the 4th of July.
A great place to learn about the early days of space exploration
Great place to visit. Just wish I had more time to see it all. We spent about 2 hours there and needed at least one more. Great view of tbe area from up there too.
Interesting, crowded! We had some rude people stand in front of you speaking Russian while u try to see exhibits
This place had a surprising amount of authentic space artifacts. The layout was interesting and showed off the grounds and surrounding terrain. I don't remember the cost, but it was reasonable.
Awesome place Cant wait to bring my dad here, he's going to love it
Informative and interesting! Lots to see.
Space history on display. They are doing a big remodeling project so displays are limited. Still a good experience.
Love the Star Trek exhibit. It is always a must stop when we visit White Sands.
I’ve been going here since i was a kid and we’d visit family in Alamogordo. This museums is awesome and has cool history inside.
If you love history or space travel you should enjoy yourself. The building has some displays outside and 4 levels inside. You take the elevator to the top then walk down through each level. It shouldn't be any problem if you are in a wheelchair. The museum isn't huge but it has some cool stuff and a couple of simulators, like landing the shuttle and what it feels like to be on different types of Rockets during blast off. There is also a little Gene Roddenberry Star Trek exhibit which was nice to see. They do have a gift shop which is pretty small, and they also have a couple of movies you can see.
Loved the Apollo 11 film. The entire tour was amazing. I thought I had seen it all...
It's a wonderful experience to visit this museum, can't wait to be back.
Really fun, interesting, and interactive museum! Prices are very reasonable. Makes you proud of what we humans have accomplished in space. Make sure to stop by Ham the Astrochimp's grave out front.
Grandkids loved the whole thing, especially dressing up as astronauts.
Although this isn't the most top notch space museum I have been to what is really cool about it are the outdoor exhibits. It puts me in awe that we were able to launch people into space with the designs and construction that they used in the early days of space travel. You can get right up to the rockets and touch them. Some of them you can even climb on . They also have some old german v2 rockets which were recovered from the missel range. it worse a visit or 2. i can spend about 3 hours here every time I go with the kids.
Great little place, very well kept, the exhibits are interactive and fun for the entire family. Good for spending 2 hours of your day.
Did not know what to expect when choosing to go here. I have been to a couple of other space museums so I thought I would try this one. I was hoping for a few more exibits to see but the ones that were there were layed out in a good fashion and we're well labeled. I really liked some of the little details like the elevator doors. I also liked how there were little jokes worked in throughout the place. Also I'm a big Star Trek nut so having that in there was a welcome surprise.
Very Interesting! A lot of the displays are geared towards children, but there is still a lot to see and yes, you might learn something :) I did! We really enjoyed going through this (no children w/us well, a couple of fur babys had to wait in the auto. So we did hurry through but seen a lot of it. We were able to hike around the outside displays with out dogs, also the Daisy track decelerator & Building. I highly, highly recommend this!
We come here often, we love it! Super cool place! The planetarium is amazing!
What a wonderful experience! My entire family loved it! There is so much to learn and to see at the museum. We purchased a one year membership which includes unlimited entry into the museum, and a Fourth of July fireworks parking pass. The pass alone is worth the price. I highly recommend the space museum!
As written in the poster in this building, the contents are under improvement. The contents are interesting, but something less than my satisfaction. I don’t know what is needed for here. Maybe they are understanding what is required. Here will be improved in few year.
Good fun educational value.
Provided details of what the museum and planetarium offered and location of each building! Great history, present and future representation of space programs! Great seats in planetarium but limited so plan accordingly! Very clean throughout buildings.
Cool place. Great view
Alot of absorb ...very interesting great view
Been coming here for 35 years maybe. Gets better every time. If are really interested in seeing what brave people and a commitment to excellence can do, I highly recommend.
Fun place to loose your money
Staff was friendly and helpful, told us a little bit about each show and how much time each would take us if we were limited on time. Will be going back soon
The day we went was a free admission day so that always helps in getting a positive review. It's a very nice facility. Well organized. Clean. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend it.
took my family for a visit and they loved it! we had so much fun!
This museum was great. I really enjoyed the hall of fame which showed everybody important related to space. They had cool models and replicas. Their artifacts were cool which includes the astronaut chimp suit and artifacts brought up to space.
A well-done museum focusing on NM part of the Rockets and Space Exploration. However, the museum does not minimize the contributions of scientists from other countries and centuries old astronomers and mathematicians. The Hall of Fame includes them all. The museum includes many original artifacts (missiles, meteorological, space), including equipment I remember my Dad using for meteorology. There is also a nice exhibit on HAM the first chimp in space (as well as his grave site). As an added bonus, there is even a Star Trek component. We highly recommend the stop.
They have done a lot of updates since I was there and my girls loved the new park.
Nice museum dedicated to New Mexico and space. Still under renovations, but what is ready to go is really nice. It's a Smithsonian museum so it's legit. Good artifacts and great views.
Nice little museum. There are several floors of space and science related exhibits. A couple of outdoor exhibits. Helpful staff. Plenty to see and do. Small gift shop. Location could be better but it's tucked away in the back of the village of Alamogordo. Plenty of parking. There is a theater. This is also where Ham the space chimp is buried.
Took the family for a history lesson and it was a success. Staff was helpful and displays were very informative. Kids loved the interactive exhibits and there Space Freeze Dried fruits. Then came a very very very big surprise at the end of our tour my kids dressed up like astronauts took pictures and we sat down to hear a presentation on Extra terrestrials well the joke was on us there was a ABC television crew filming for John Quinones "What would you do" needless to say we might make it on TV if not that's ok it was a fun experience just having that opportunity.
So there's actually a lot to look at here. the inside with a few floors full of artifacts and information but not every space nerd already knows. on the 1st floor there's a little kids play Room that has little puzzles legos to help them build a rover and astronaut suits that they can try on. Not to mention that outside there's a playground for kids and bigger rockets and things that couldn't be brought in. then on the other end of the parking lot is the planetarium and they offer a few different shows.
Very nice museum, loads of information and things to look at, not overly hands on for the kids.
Fun museum. Interesting exhibits
Pretty cool space museum in the small town of Alamogordo. I would definitely stop by here if you happen to be in town. It is the home of the Daisy track and gravesite of HAM (first chimp in space).
First time here, of all the times I have stayed or passed though Alamogordo. Watched 2 movies resides seeing the displays which consist of 4 stories. You can easily spend 3 hours here !
It is great to have a space cience museum near us for kids and adults, had a great time.
This is a great museum, there is a lot to see both outside and inside! Don't miss Ham the Astrochimp's memorial outside. It is very educational with many interesting exhibits, some are interactive. It is a good place to bring the family.
I really enjoyed this museum and definitely recommend it. Also check out all the outdoor exhibits hopefully when it's not too hot. Definitely worth a couple hours especially if you have kids with you although definitely visit even if you don't
Super cool. Great displays. Hours of interesting stuff if you like rockets and missiles.
I've dreamt of space and enjoyed learning and discovering new things about it ever since I was a child. If you or someone you know is the same way - this museum is the place for you! Four indoor floors, numerous outdoor exhibits, a well-stocked gift shop, and friendly staff all make for a wonderful experience.
Well worth the price of admission. Very interesting displays. Something for all ages.
This place is very interesting! I learned a lot!
Smaller than you think, but still worth a trip from Las Cruces NM.
Lots to do and see there. I could have spent the better part of a day there
We love bringing out of town family here. We always learn and have a wonderful time!!!
Such an Alamogordo treasure! Grandsons and all of us had so much FUN and discovered so many exciting facts that we knew but had forgotten and so many we did not know. LOVE
If in Alamagordo, NM, don't miss the chance to catch this. Really loved the German Tornado jet fighter in the car park.
Real space history. Parts of rocket ships, genuine artifacts. It was quicker of a tour than I thought it would be but as a family of space enthusiasts it was a great time for us. It was extra awesome that their gift shop has replica patches of all the missions. Worth a visit if you're nearby.
The museum is incredible. They had a Star Trek exhibit that was tons of fun. The space chimp is also buried here. There is a lot to see and read. This is a must for any avid space fans.
Great learning experience and so interesting. Good place for families, out of towners, people who get bored easy, and couples. They have some really awesome movies right now too.. black holes, apollo 11, and live star gazing. So much to see and experience. I absolutely LOVE the floor specifically dedicated to Star Trek, amazing exhibits. Elevator or ramps are available and very wheelchair accessible. I had fun and the gift shop was neat.
Try to visit on post Lunch. Else early in the morning
We visited yesterday and it was a awful first impression, the front clerk woman was very rude and very annoyed by our questions began to raise her voice and clap her hands. She ended up also overcharging us we paid 48.00 for 2 adults for the museum and film. Didn't even ask questions thinking she would probably explode again but after looking at our receipt she charged us 4 adults and 2 children when are children should have been free they are only 3 and 1. Went back to front desk to get my money back because that is just absurd she needs to learn to do her job right and be respectful! Was very angry after that and didn't really even enjoy the rest of the museum. She is the first face you see when walking into the meseum, she should be courteous and welcoming this lady was none of that. Will NEVER be coming back again.
Awesome place to visit.
If you are into real space and the technology mankind has developed to explore it, then come check this place out. They have a decent collection of items both original and replicas in and around the four level building. There's a section inside the building where kids can play as well as a gift shop. In 2016, they dedicated a part of one floor to Star Trek because it continues to play a role in capturing the imagination of those interested in space exploration and drives many to enter and excel in all the various fields of science. This is not anywhere near as expansive as the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC and Chantilly, VA, but it's fitting for the area that it's in. Parking is free, it's inexpensive to get in, and you'll end up learning quite a bit from the time you spend in there. Recommended!
Lots of great information. Well displayed.
