REVIEWS OF New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science IN New Mexico

Harley Swan

It's in desperate need of an upgrade! They have some new exhibits which are awesome, but some of the exhibits have the same old videos playing on the same old televisions from when I was a kid in the early 90s.

Jennifer Mazur

What an awesome museum! As others have said, the staff here is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The animatronic dinosaur in the main hall is also very cool! The local dinosaur fossils on display upstairs were a treat for us out of towners. I gotta be honest: I wasn't expecting a whole lot, and I was so so pleased. They even had live animals in a lab area downstairs! I would definitely recommend this to anyone going to ABQ.

Daniel Paul

This is an awesome museum! Great place to take the family. Always new exhibits open. This place is near Explora, ABQ Old Town and a great little park. The park is great and has plenty of space for meeting people and or just hanging out. This park also is one of the only places you can rent electric scooters with your smart phone: super fun. Easy parking and great photo opportunities beside cool sculptures in front of the museum. This medium also has a planetarium and I Max theater. The planetarium features a great Fractal show every Friday night that is really cool.

Mike Hindman

It has history, science, stars, space, dinosaurs... I mean what is there not to love? It's awesome

srinivasa singireddy

Nice museum. The dinosaur statue looks so real and the museum shows a lot of history about the dinosaurs. Good Imax theater with multiple shows through out the day

Skylar Hargrave

Awesome exhibits but I recommend you go during the week and not during free days because it gets jam packed with screaming little ones.

June Eillenberger

It's ok, I'm used to bigger museums. This one shouldn't be on your short list but if you have nothing else to do it's ok. They have a mechanical T Rex that goes off every half hour that's cool.

Jhen Spitzer

Had a great time with the family this past Sunday at the museum - AMAZING Dino exhibit - really makes you think! Were there for over 3 hours and could have stayed longer but we got hungry... we’ll def be back!! The place was super clean, employees seemed happy to be at work (something u don’t always see nowadays) and the diff exhibits were entertaining and educational for our kids and my hubs & I. Do wish there was a snack bar or something so we didn’t have to leave - we missed the Black Hole show that we’d paid tix for but hey ... just another reason to go back!!

Always been a fan of our museum since I was a kid. I bring my daughter here now that I'm a dad and she loves it . It's opened up her thinking and broadened her outlook on the world around her; her imagination just runs wild. My wife and I get the pass so we can come anytime and not run a marathon to see everything in one trip. I give it four stars though because some of the exhibits are getting quite dated but it's nostalgic for me still.

Darren Ball

A great place to spend a few hours learning the history of New Mexico and just a short walk to some superb sculptures and old town Albuquerque.

Mark Finley

I was there for a lecture in their large lecture hall. Really a marvelous venue for lectures. All the seating had great sight lines. The audio equipment worked very well. No feedback no echoing Etc.

Frances Lippmann

Really good museum. Helpful Volunteers. Need more than 2 hours to complete. Was able to watch a movie "Rescue Superdogs" about actual disaster rescue dogs. Dogs that swim in the lakes in Italy, hound dogs in Kenya that sniff out poachers, avalanche rescue dogs that sniff for those trapped in the snow, to a dog named Richter who surf boards with people who both mentally and physically challenged as well as veterans with PTSD.

Steve Mendoza

As big and nice looking as it is, a HUGE bummer. Some nice fossil/dinosaur exhibits but just not an interesting place. I love museums and will read anything and everything I can, but this place made me want to just get out of there.

Kendra Goers

It's always fun, but it's been the same since it opened. We need some new exhibits.

Richard Yescas

Great place to visit. New Mexico is very beautiful, I would consider moving here. I thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Trung Tran

It was most of it under rentervation. Alot of thing not working properly. They said it going to be up grate. For my 7 year old niece it was so much fun for her and alot to tell her friend at school's. But overall not too bad 5 hrs trip going back to the history million of years ago.

James Lucero

This place is always fun to visit. There bonus exhibits on drugs and the Brain were a great addition for this visit. The kids always have fun here and it's nice to see the growth and changes in the museum itself.

Christopher Campa

Awesome place, my 3 girls love it!! The junior guides are fantastic. They were so engaging with my girls and gave wonderful information.

Jon Borah

Place was very run down (even the new exhibits) and some of the "scientific" research could have been better documented....

Infinity

a lot of history. needs more natural

quiet Clark

It was fun and informative. Needs a bit more hands on for the older children

Christina Sedillo

Such a wonderful museum with many great exhibits! There is a lot to discover about dinosaurs, New Mexican history, space, and all of the temporary exhibits. I've been coming here for over 20 years and I always learn something new and interesting. There is a lot of interactive activities to do accompanied with reading material. All of the volunteers and workers are extremely knowledgable and passionate about the exhibits and always willing to share their knowledge.

robert ebberhart

I wish it had more displays but a nice place to kinda let kids unwind for a spell. I was told that a Veteran had to be 100 % disabled in order to get in at no cost mmm

darc heart

Absolutely love this place. Grew up taking trips here (which I can only remember the dinos) but now I am bringing my kids and actually paying attention to the exhibits. Wonderful to keep coming back to see something new.

Heather Murie

Took my kids and had a great time! It's interactive and goes through the timeline if the dinosaurs. The staff are knowledgeable and it's in walking distance to old town and restaurants

Paula Albert

My 12 year old grandson loved it and wants to go back again before he goes back home to his parents. He loved the dinosaurs. His 5 year old cousin loved it too.

Sabrina Minnix

I liked it, I liked the Drugs and Consequences exhibit that is new. I think they should be open past 5pm, that's a little early. But overall it's a great museum, great gift shop, and a lot of cool things to see and do. I like the fact the Planetarium is pay your donation. Pay what you can. I recommend this museum. Also the cars you can buy up front for $3 is handy when you have small children.

Angella Aragon

Nice mesume. Educational exhibitions. The planetarium was amazing.

Bobby Flores

Really nice place with a ton to look at, it was way bigger than I expected and the pricing is very reasonable for the whole family. My only complaint is that we often found ourselves going through the exhibits backwards because the place is kind of a maze, and for younger kids most of the exhibits don't do much to hold their interest because they require a lot of reading. We really enjoyed it, and even just walking through without reading much spent a good 2-3 hours there. I liked seeing a focus in many exhibits tying them into the local area.

rachael landau

A wonderful museum for all ages, with dedicated, helpful volunteers. It's possible easily to spend an entire day. Has a smattering of exhibits both permanent (space, geology, dinosaurs) and traveling. Impressive permanent items: a scaled reproduction of the mars rover that can have its camera manipulated; dinosaur skeletons & fossils. Went for the traveling show about The Brain (which came from the American Museum of Natural History in NYC), and running through Nov'19; dynamic, interactive, informative, fun, and engaging exhibit; reading will be required to get the full experience. Movies and planetarium shows cost extra to general admission, but enhance the visit A LOT. The Dyna Theater experience (high def. 3D film) is spectacular. One show at a time runs on the hour. Planetarium programs are the standard sort; but 2 p.m. shows are live & interactive w/ audience able to inquire about the night sky features in ABQ for that date. By the end of day, a few interactive exhibits with computer screens get hung up/ frozen (computer needs a reboot), or stop functioning. A few areas in the permanent exhibits have neglected lighting. Yes, there's a is gift shop. The site is handicap accessible. A cafe on site for meal time on the premises.

D TM

The museum provides hands on activities to keep kids occupied and parents happy. The staff are friendly and helpful and the price for admission is reasonable for a museum. They also offer a number of activities throughout the year to help patrons to continue coming back

Cynthia Martinez

I brought my five year old and he absolutely loved it! It’s family friendly and keeps the kids entertained. Good price for admission.

Kimikiwi Andersen

Fun museum! I think most of the displays were more for kids than adults but I still enjoyed it. Lots to see and learn. I also watched the planetarium show CAPCON GO! and thought it was excellent! I highly recommend purchasing a planetarium show ticket with your museum pass because it's only $2 ish extra.

Steven N

A terrific day of education. We loved the way that the total natural history of time was layed out in order from the big bang to current times. It was very comprehensive. The displays are very impressive.

Raymond Ellis

Great museum with many interesting artifacts and exhibits. I especially liked the Volcanoes movie in the Dynatheater. Awesome views of a lava lake and the recent Hawaiian eruptions.

Thomas Masterson

This was a really nice little museum, but it seems to need some maintenance. Many of the interactive features weren't working. That being said, it is still very worth a visit and especially good for little kids.

Rena Kilgore

It has plenty of parking. It's a bit confusing to follow in order from start to finish. Many of the exhibits were under repair. It did have some great things to see. The staff was friendly. But the best part was the dinosaur at the entrance. It does more then just sit there and if you catch it right the thing roars and really get funky. Would go again even tho it's a bit overpriced.

Antone Gomez

Very informative. I really liked the drugs/ alcohol info.

Octavio Ayala

Who doesn't love the museum an amazing experience every time I go. There is always new exhibits to see and great educational lectures. One of my favorite things os first Friday fractal it is one crazy experience if you haven't checked it out you really should!!

Breanna Lum

This is a great place to take guests. It features dinos throughout the different periods of the earth. I also love the gift shop here. They have some really cool stuff that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Carly S

Super fun place to visit. The docents are very helpful and knowledgeable. Clean facilities, interactive displays, fun giftshop!

Caleb Morse

Had fun with our toddler and a lot of the exhibits were neat. Could definitely use some better cleaning though.

M B

This is a NM gem. We are here on vacation and looked up places to take our grandchildren to. This is such a great museum for any family. My grandchildren loved it. They have lots of interactive displays for the kids, and some wonderful skeletal displays. Spend an afternoon at the museum. If you have a little one interested in dinosaurs don't miss this experience.

John Wilkes

Solid museum covering the dinosaurs of (geo) history of the SouthWest US

William Ramsey

A good place to kill a few hours. It is a little outdated. Not much has changed since my first visit in 1987. The volunteer staff is great and have a passion for it.

Maxwell Lyster

Only had an hour to see the museum, definitely takes more than that if you want to take your time and see everything.

Melody Guenther

Went on a weekday so no big crowds and the kids got to take their time. From pretending to be dinosaurs to walking on lava. Fun was had by all.

Eric K6EJC

Awesome animatronic dinosaur exhibit. Comes to life every 30 minutes. All the kids there were going nuts for it Worth the visit

The Brewster

Had a great time when there. I also got to see the Titanic artifacts that happened to be visiting at the time.

Janice Ash

Friendly staff, amazing exhibits especially the current one understanding the brain. The planetarium is beyond incredible.!!!

Crystal Bales

I was pleasantly surprised at the chronological setup of the museum. The animatronic T-Rex is definitely a sight to see. The artifacts and fossils this museum had were absolutely amazing.

Sandy Burt

It was good to see the young students visiting the exhibits. It is very educational and well put together. The young docent was very knowledgeable in the field of paleontology. I only wish he had shared more with the young students visiting.

M- Elizo

1st time here for me and my family and we LOVED IT!

Tomas Valdez

Very educational! A lot of information and long walk around the exhibits. Will definitely go again

Brett J

I come here at least once a year. We just saw fractal Friday. It was really cool. Warning for those who suffer from motion sickness.

sandra trauden

We loved it. Great dinos. The new robotic dinosaur was cool and not too scary for The kids. The 3d theater was comfortable. Gift shop had great prices and a lot of little things for the kids to choose from

Livio Azzoni

It's ok, I thought there would be a much larger paleontology section given that it's in New Mexico, but it's pretty limited

Katrina Santillanes

Love this museum! And the new dinosaur that moves is pretty awesome!

Tim Erickson

Learn about life and the world around you. Just make sir and watch out behind you!

Chris Rael

How can you not love this place?! I've been dozens of times since childhood and I see something new and interesting every time! Lot's to learn and fun to be had. Highly recommend the museum and the planetarium, especially on the first Friday of every month.

Chris Cordes

For a town the size of ABQ, this museum is amazing. It maximizes its resources and really does a great job. It is free to NM residences the first Sunday of the month. They have a dinosaurs and other materials specific to New Mexico. It is a great.

G Mtz

Coolest place to bring your kids or just to explore go to the local library and you can get a pass to go to any museum for free and you can being up to 6 people with you go for adults and kids

Anne Schroeder

Love this museum. The new Brain exhibit and the Bisti Beast was all I got to see today. Will be back!

Donna martin

Excellent exhibits, very nice staff, several things to high to see in wheelchair or for kids. Great restaurant.

Lisa Hayward

Love the interactivity stuff. So cool.

Marie M. Lopez

Excellent family adventure. Rich in interactive science themes. BTW: if you need to borrow a wheelchair, they are available free of charge!

Audrey Ayze

Awesome even my 2 yr old and 6 month old enjoyed it.

Christian Denny

Super fun place to go for kids and adults. They have very interesting exhibits that go through the different time periods. It also offers a lot on New Mexico specific natural history which is cool. The natural history museum also has a Dyna theater and a planetarium. I highly recommend the planetarium. They have good narrative shows from local workers or students at UNM. Fun place for a date too!

Daniel Rice

This place is full of knowledge. Pretty sights and lots of things to enjoy for all ages..

Rachel Serna

Had a great time with my husband & son's class/school! Have been to this many times since it opened way back when. Love it !!

Heather Sanders

I grew up as a child going to this museum, I enjoyed being able to take my kids here as they grew up too. To this day, there is just something wonderful about going to the museum. There really is so much information packed into this small place, but the layout has you wind around the levels and exhibits and you get lost in the amazing things to learn. The planetarium has some great shows, and Fractal Fridays are really the coolest. The Dynatheater also has some great movies it shows. The newest exhibit is the Narcotics area and it's impact physically, culturally, and socially. Then, you travel upstairs to find The Brain. Some really awesome interactive ways to learn around this subject, for young and old. I really wish that the museum could have more funding to do some much needed upgrades, but over all, the staff is always friendly and willing to help and walk you through the museum. The gift shop has some nice selections, and the cafe is a great break after hours of walking around. Reasonably priced admission, it's a great choice for families to hang out, and have some fun.

Kendra Montoya

My family and I got to explore together and spent a little over three hours. My five-year-old son was fascinated with the space exhibit, the effects of drugs exhibit, and of course the dinosaur exhibit. My eight-year-old daughter enjoyed the brain and volcano exhibits. I enjoyed all the exhibits. We did not explore the DynaTheater which is an additional cost if you plan your visit. However, the DynaTheater will be on our list the next time we visit.

Gottfried Kibelka

A good flow through time from the big bang to today's threat of climate change. Engaging exhibits with alternating displays that creat the illusion of open spaces and being deep inside the Earth's mantel. We were lucky enough to meet some "junior volunteers" that were stationed throughout the exhibits teaching us specific angles to look at our surroundings. I was surprised how little I know about fluorescent minerals. Highly recommended.

Niki Rea

A really neat place to see. Right now they have an animatronic t-rex that goes off at 12:30. Great shows at both theaters.

Scott Daigle

This museum has a great selection of a variety of artistic items. There are many events to enjoy and there is always a special exhibition. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The different exhibits depicting the history are so amazing. The museum is a must visit place.

bass man Benally

My kids loved going to the museum to see the dinosaur fossils and learning of the history. They have a cool gift shop and a cafe.

C McFarland-Corn

We love the various pop up exhibits from time to time, My only complaint is that it ia not as engaging for thw little ones as advertised.Still an essential part of growing up in NM and a 100% a must for visitor's of all ages

benny thompson

Such a great experience. The staff was helpful and genuinely cared about their patrons. Would definitely visit again.

Jim Warner

Love this place. Could spend many hours here learning about natural and cultural history.

Brianna Penz

It was really neat. The Drugs portion was really deep. They have stuff from 9/11.. it was so moving.

Jennifer Boyd

I have been a member of the Natural History Museum for 6 years. My kids love it and Mike from the education department is exceptional.

Howard Williams

My first time in the domed theater. It was amazing. What an experience.

Brenda Walton

I'm from Texas and this place was very nice and informative. My grandchildren would love to visit hopefully one day

Eugene Volpe

It was great experience - Highly recommend to visit!!!

Stephanie Hudson

Great place to take the kids. We were traveling from Arkansas to California and it was a great place to take a must needed break in Albuquerque, and stretch our legs.. Well definitely be back.

Victor Paez

Amazing state with a plethora of natural history to celebrate it. This museum is top notch and extremely affordable. A must do while in Albuquerque.

Marcus Forelius

Cool museum for its size, it really packs in the displays and the information. Presented more for kids to teenagers my father and I still had a great time checking out everything. I would highly recommend it for visiting families with kids as it is an all day event well worth the price!

Margaret Connealy

It is packed with interesting exhibits and is staffed by helpful well informed people.

Brandon Trimborn

Nice meuseum but it is very dated like 1990s it would be a totally 5 star meuseum if they updated it.

Dan Pickrel

Beautiful, friendly, informative, and an overall wonderful experience! Thank you!

john schuler

Nice place to visit, but some of the activities didn't work.

Dimitri Brown

This museum looks like it was probably great once, but feels very old and outdated. Many of the exhibits are no longer working or are in poor repair. They started to close the gift shop 10 minutes before the museum closed and were turning people away before the museum closed which I felt was in poor form. The hands on room with the snapping turtle and other animals is great and the huge exhibit that shows were earthquakes are currently taking place all over the world is pretty interesting. I hope they put some more into this museum and make it world class again.

Hanna Shay

Amazing place, tons to see. Go early so you have time to check everything out! Great for any age.

L P

Excellent displays, geared to all ages. Amazing animated T-Rex, sent video of it and granddaughter from Chicago said " I wish I were there"

Rosalie Lopez

Wonderful staff, lots to look at and not so big that you lose your child.

Mayra Ayala

I visited from Texas and we absolutely had a wonderful time. I have two small children and they were just mesmerized with the exhibits. My 2 year old loved the Earth, Moon, Sun show at the planetarium and my 4 year old is currently obsessed with dinosaurs and loved all the dino bones. Definitely a must if you're traveling to ABQ. On another note, if you go to the café, try the Hope Burger. It's delicious!

Anthony J. Pino

The museum blew me away! Wonderful and interactive.

Diana Snow

Kid friendly interactive displays made the experience worthy of high praise. The grandkids and I loved it!

Bre Lum

This museum walks through different periods of the earth's history. There are magnificent dinosaur skeletons and tons of facts to read. I don't think I recommend going here a bunch of times, unless you really like the movies here. But my son and my nephew are obsessed with dinos, so the museum was a great option to bring the boys.

Jade Hogan

There are updated exhibits and very nice volunteers to help out.

sandra blair

It had some really great exhibits. I particularly enjoyed the evolutionary one with the dinosaurs. The brain one was cool. And the space one was interesting too. The gift shop was being redesigned so everything in the store was 40% off. Got a couple flute glasses & some crystals for less than 4 dollars.

Rey Granado

Great place for all ages. I love coming here

Ryan Thomas Petropoulos

Fun day trip experience. New animatronic dinosaur is super cool!

Jay Deyo

Loved every bit of it. Would say it is the perfect size museum, with more than enough really cool stuff to see but at the same time not overwhelming. I would love to go back again, staff was very friendly. Make sure you test out the mars rover, the camera really works!

Brent Baldwin

We gad an amazing time. The space show about the night sky constellations and the galaxy was very well done!

Lenny Lucero

I listened to a lecture by Mike Vigil on October 24th on his experiences during his career with the DEA. The lecture was given in the IMAX theater. The museum's exhibits, offer a great educational experience.

Jenny H

A really excellent natural history museum, and much larger than expected for a town of this size. For instance, this museum is much larger than the Las Vegas, Nevada natural history museum. The geology exhibits give one a very solid sense of place and history, there is a great dinosaur area and information, a Hands-On insect and Bone area, and revolving exhibits from international museums. Docents and paleontologists are roaming around to answer questions. And don't get me started about the gift shop! I go to this museum about every other month and I never get bored.

Quinn Colon

beautiful! I came here from Miami and the museum is so much more enjoyable! there's so much to do and it's really informative! would come again as I didn't get to see all of it :^)

Gregory Granado

Cuz my 'ma slings chow there.......and its a good community partnership!

Claire Olsen

It is a wonderful and fantastic place to be, I have made so many amazing memories here with my family and will continue to

Sara Reagor

The staff was incredibly friendly and some great dinosaur exhibits. We paid half price to enter at 4, and hour before closing, so didn't get to see everything, but even at full price this is a good find! There were a few exhibits that were under construction or needed some TLC, but overall we recommend this place!

Lowindda Mendez

My whole family an I enjoyed our trip to the museum! I have been coming here since I was a little girl and I enjoy it every single time!! Everyone is so nice and very informative love how they explain the history on some of the dinosaurs and the anatomy of the human brain, my kids not only enjoyed it they learned a whole lot!! ❤ thank you for a wonderful experience as always!

Tracy Dillon

First Friday fractals. Amazing, can't wait to go again!!

David Earl

Love Fractal Fridays and have been multiple times. Great event for visitors/dates/etc. Age 3+ best. First Friday of each month. Sells out often. Get tickets ASAP and definitely before 5pm on day of show.

harry D-S

Could use a little update. But overall good information and environment and great for kids.

Ken

It was short but enjoyable. Some interesting things but not much of a place for repeat visits.

Ahleli1

The story of Earth from its beginnings is a great fountain of.knowledge.

George Zehnder

Excellent presentation on the Evolution of our earth....

Joshua Owens

I have not been here since i was 14 im 30 now. I was so amazed and interesting how many dinosaurs we found in new mexico we got so lost we spent 2 hours looking at everythin. We whould have stayed longer but my 2 year old gets anxious but he did hold a dinosaur egg

Evelyn Kay

Only had an hour to see the museum, definitely takes more than that if you want to take your time and see everything. Very enjoyable for all ages, and actually saw all ages there, families with little kids, teens, and older folks, including elderly. But in the hour I had, I was able to see everything, just not in great detail as I would normally want, but again only had an hour before they closed. It was worth the price.

Thomas Franich

There's no better afternoon than one spent at the museum. Albuquerque has some lovely museums but the most mature is the Museum of Natural History and Science. Featuring temporary rotating exhibits (life-size DaVinci's machines, items from Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, Dr & Society, the Brain) and fantastic permanent exhibits this is the museum that sets the standard. Kids will trepidatiously trot upon the lava floor (and everyone somehow has lifelong memories of it) and who doesn't love the scale dinosaur skeleton models? The climate change exhibit provides all the evidence in a easy to digest format. Jump and see if you can get the seismograph to register the force of your landing. There's even a small laboratory with animals and lots of "please touch" items. The planetarium and IMAX theatre always astound. There's no shortage of things to see and if you're peckish or thirsty you really should stop at Hope Cafe which is a training site for homeless and underprivileged people trying to escape poverty. If you're a regular or just an appreciator you should consider a paid membership which offers special events and free admission.

Sunny Duerre

Normally one of the best museums of this type in the country, but currently undergoing some renovations that reduce the experience. Once complete, though, this is a must see in Albuquerque!

Tara Smith

I love dinosaurs yo

Dominic Sedillo

Our family LOVES the Natural History Museum! I've been coming since I was a kid and I like the alternating exhibits and things that come through here. It is always clean and has a great layout. I wish there were more kid-friendly interactive stuff like the Explora museum has however. Update: My family and I went on the First Friday event (where the Museum stays open after normal hours) and it was great. We love the animatronic "Besti". Also, they are making great strides to update exhibits and make them more interactive.

Haread Babydool

I want the learning of my my child be interactive. Going to this kind of place help him to know more about science and history. WE enjoy our time here and he also enjoy learning!

Andreanna Garcia

was so fun!! and learned lits of nrw things! the kids really loved it

Candida Gutierrez

Such an awesome experience!! Love how they have it numbered. My 12 yr old loves to touch everything so this place was great for him! Dont recommend the planetarium show though.

Aaron N

Came in last week to see what changes have been bestowed onto the museum since my last visit a year earlier. It's often been the case over many years that the NMMNH does its best with the limited number of resources available to them. I say this because for whatever reason, this museum appears not to have the same level of funding nor community sponsorship that other museums in Albuquerque apparently do. Despite this, tickets prices are reasonable. If you wish to catch a planetarium show or see a special exhibit, you will have to pay a little extra. Special deals are offered however. Such as free entry on every first Sunday of the month. Upon my latest visit, the first thing to catch my eye was the state of the art animatronic dinosaur stationed in the lobby. It comes to life every 30 minutes and is great addition to the museum. The rest of the museum however needs a little tlc. While it is kept clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. Much of the museum hasn’t changed a great deal since I would visit as a kid during the early 2000’s. Most of the interactive exhibits definitely show signs of their age. The decaying carpet and paint in many areas of the building are difficult to ignore. Plus, during my last visit several parts of the museum (such as the volcano and time machine exhibits) were either broken or closed off to visitors. In all, the problems that plague the NMMNH have little to do with how the place is managed. The staff and curators do their part well and without them the museum would be in a true dire state. The necessary funds are simply what it needs and so desperately lacks. However, if either you or your children have an intrigue for the natural sciences, this museum is still worth a visit.

Glenda Sanchez

It has gotten pretty run down. Many exhibits are older and broken or just dont have much to them anymore. Several weren't even on display! The brain exhibition was pretty neat though! Parking wasn't bad even mid morning.

Melissa Mackechnie

Awesome place! Really showcases space and dinosaurs! The moving and roaring dino on the main level is amazing!

Mark Kendrick

This really is an exciting place to visit, there is so much to see and learn. Your best bet is to plan on spending a few hours here and eat at the cafe so you’re not rushed.

Meghan Thomas

Had a great time, the big dinosaur that moves was rough for my 4 year old but my 2 year old loved it. The planetarium looked awesome, but missed the start of the hourly show. Great place for family fun and learning. Every first Sunday of the month is free for NM residents!

JL

Intresting, grandson loves dinosours..

Kirk Wood

Lots of interesting exhibits. My favorite was the one about volcano's and dinosaurs. I had no idea that there use to be volcano's in New Mexico! The musuem was easy to maneuver around and not overcrowded. You could easily spend three or more hours here. Don't miss the anamontronic dinosaur when you first enter.

Shimon Waksman

Kids were totally enamored with all the interactive exhibits and the shows were well guided and fun for all of us..kids ages 8 and 13 both want to go back and never got bored (hard to find for 2 very different interest groups).

Taylor Barnette

I've been to a wide range of natural history museums across the world, including those in NYC, SF, Pittsburgh, and Boston. This one holds its own and is a vastly underrated gem. The organization of the exhibits, and the exhibits' art and information, all are great. The information is usually very specific to New Mexico, which has a killer geological and paleontological history, and is presented chronologically from the beginning of the universe on up to near-present times. You feel like you're taking a trip through all of known history. Highly recommended. I love coming here and studying the fossils on display and letting them and the art transport me back into long-past times. They do have rotating exhibits, and try to keep things fresh, but I think the permanent ones are worth their weight in latinum. ;) Enjoy!

T Jones

It was my first time there and I LOVED IT!! Lots of neat stuff. Went to the planetarium and learned about stars, space shuttles, and the first moon landing.

Gail Tafoya

It's nice to visit especially when its your 1st time. But we visit the museum every couple of years and it's pretty much the same thing. Still nice and something to do but really needs some updating. Especially that plastic they have over the fake lava section. Totally recommend for a,1st time visit. The brain exhibit going on now was interesting

A good way to spend a couple hours. Loved all the dinosaur exhibits along with the history of New Mexico (we are from Washington State)

My family and I had the opportunity to visit. What a great place, excellent learning experience, so much to see. It was well worth the price and their exhibits were fascinating. We went to the upper level first and worked our way downstairs to the space and minerals exhibits. Great place for family and friends especially for children to spend time together learning about the Dinosaurs.

Saw the crew setting up new mechanical dinosaur. Also, went to planetarium saw the movie of the Black Hole. It was an amazing show. When you were watching the show you felt like you were moving. It was a great day. Everyone one should go visit the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.

Visited the museum while on vacation in Albuquerque. Took my daughter and grandkids and we thoroughly enjoyed it. My grandson was ecstatic about going to the museum. Very interactive!

Great kids exploration area. Lots of different scientific areas of study. My kids love it, and we've been going since they were tiny, and now they are actually reading the placards and learning more!

Bernard Carey

A really cool, interesting and informative museum, great for kids and adults.

We love our museum pass, gifted to us by grandparents! We could go back a million times and learn something new each time!

We go every few months on the New Mexico Resident Free Sunday. If you are a New Mexico Resident go to the museum's website to find info regarding this. This month the theme is brain. We appreciate that our natural history museum is so interactive. No matter the age of the *kid.* Our children are 16+ and still enjoy going to the museum. We as parents remember yesterday year when the youngest was extremely scared to enter into the Lava flowing 'cave's no matter what we or her siblings tried. Looking through the Bee's eyes .... on an under 3 ft tall pole. Planetarium and space and stars. The youngest's favorite even still today, the Geodes, and rocks... We knew the dinosaurs /T-Rex was gone, but it was hard to see the empty space where he had been. My kids have all camped under the T-Rex at a Scout event or other summertime activities. We appreciate the many fossils through out the museum but our big T-Rex will be missed!

10/1/19: The staff were friendly and nice! The museum is great! Dinosaurs and astronauts! You can learn alot about our natural history and humanity's future. They even have a rock from the moon! It has rare minerals in it. No wonder world firms are racing to get to the moon for mining purposes.

Learn about your brain while you still have one.

Absolutely AMAZING place to visit! The staff here are very knowledgeable! I came here for the first time last night for Fractal Friday and after the show, the audience was invited to look through their telescope and see Jupiter and its four moons! After we exited the telescope, my sister, friend and I went back inside to ask to see the moon and the workers there were more than happy to move and redirect the telescope for us to get the best close up of the moon we have ever seen! Definitely an unforgettable experience! Thank you!

Great experience in the planetarium. My 4 year old loved it. She was also convinced that TRex was real since it was moving it's arms and head and roared. Really cool.

Michele Ramunni

Wonderful place! So much to see there very interesting will go back again sometime soon.

What a fun and educational place. Something for every one in family. The displays and set up are very well done. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Worth every penny and by the way, plan on at least 4 hours.

More so for older kids but our little ones still enjoyed themselves
