Very interesting museum inspired by Millicent Rogers. We particularly enjoyed the incredible pottery on display that ranged from ancient to contemporary artists. Staff was very friendly and informative, great gift shop. Definitely check this out if you are in Taos!

I visited the Millicent Rogers Museum to see the pottery & textiles and was amazed at the scope of the collection. Some truely amazing antique Spanish saltito blankets and examples of the evolution in Navajo weaving are on display. Ancestral People's pottery on display shows incredible craftsmanship, and the story of modern Pueblo Pottery and examples are even more amazing. If you love turquoise you must see the jewelry exhibit! Great examples of authentic pawn jewelry and Harvey era jewelry as well as creations designed and in a few cases made by Millicent Rogers herself. Selections from Ms. Rogers early journal and drawings made as a teen also display a talent inheritance couldn't buy. What a fascinating lady! And although she is gone, here collection is here for all to ponder and enjoy.

Great place to visit.

Interesting little museum showing the life and collection of the Standard Oil heiress. She had a lavish and previledged life with many items made by native Americans of the southwest.

OMG What a woman! What a Museum!!

Very cute and organized museum just outside of Taos. Cheap price and a wealth of knowledge inside, You walk the museum yourself with a pamphlet that will highlight each room. Each room also has plaques on the wall and cases to tell you about the items in it. To me this one was so interesting because it was more than just artwork (which I know Taos is very famous for art but learning the culture about the Navajos and Hispanics was just fascinating).

The staff were wonderful. The museum was beautiful. The displays were well described and placed and the layout was like a fun maze. My son and I loved the holiday arts and crafts.

This little museum is a must-see if you are in Taos. It’s located in a darling home with many rooms of displays around a central courtyard which has some amazing native sculptures. There are displays of paintings, pottery and baskets and other Native American artistry. It’s a special place.

A true Taos treasure! The rotating exhibits showcase local art, some for sale, alongside the permanent collection of Rogers' cutting-edge jewelry, pottery, textiles, and basketry supplemented by designs of her own. A wonderful Southwest setting complements the assemblage. The gift shop has absolutely no import imitations, but instead offers a variety of art, all locally sourced.

I learned so much about pottery, weaving, jewelry of the Southwest that I wonder what I did in all the museum's and National parks. Lots of examples and a clear story that doesn't try to explain too much but set dates, names, and artifacts together in convincing ensembles and as points in time. I deeply enjoyed the story of Maria and her family, the roots of much of modern, popular pottery. Carved Santos, belts, rugs, owls, horses, and a chapel filled with artifacts. Unbelievable gift store, museum's shop with plenty of originals, estate donations, and Rogers family. A real joy to walk the rooms, get lost and to eventually stumble upon Millicent's drawings inspired by Anderson's little mermaid. Really a gem of gems in Taos.

Matt Burt

Great collection, nice place.

Really lovely museum of its kind - located in a historical house and that been sympathetically restored and extended. If you are interested in traditional crafts, jewellery and fashion, it is an absolute gem (excuse the pun) - good collection, nicely laid out and presented. The highlight is the jewellery Millicent Rogers herself designed, displayed well. I found the Museum shop a let-down - it is spacious and full of jewelley and clothing. What I really wanted to buy were reproductions of MR's designs - but there are only 7 silver pieces - and even from a distance you can see that they are not particularly well-made (cast and not hand-finished/polished?), nowhere near the quality of the originals - I wouldn't spend $150 on them. Much of other tradionally inspired stuff is expensive; the most interesting section was where they are re-selling collectors' items.

I only had a short afternoon in Taos, so only had time for one museum. I am happy with my selection, as the collection has a delightful variety of historic and contemporary pieces from the locality. I left delighted, amazed and further informed, which is everything i could ask from a good museum. A top notch experience for $10!

Murray Van Dyke

An extraordinary gem for those interested in Southwest art of all sorts. Some the best examples of silverwork anywhere. A comprehensive collection and history of the great San Ildefonso potters. A marvelous small museum, worth the short ride out of town.

Simone Albertini

One of the best museums I've visited in the southwest.. It really helps you to understand the natives cultures and differences!

Jessica Sword

Great museum. I would have loved more history and photos of Millicent Rogers herself. The Maria Martinez pottery room was fascinating. There were a couple rooms towards the end that I breezed through. One room had drawings from high school students. Great drawings, but an abundance and not of interest. The placards are well detailed. Overall, definitely worth a visit!

The museum is probably one of the best I have ever gone to. The multiple collections here are very interesting. The namesake was a beautiful person who had a beautiful soul. If you like art and jewelry this is a must go to. There is also antique religious items and carpentry. The best thing that warms the soul is a letter the namesake wrote to her son shortly before her death. You will need to go there to see what was composed in the letter, the words will enlighten you and free your soul of worries for the rest of your life.

Mooi museum. Inzicht in Indiase kunst. Kregen goed beeld van de rol die Millicent Rogers heeft gespeeld in het bij een groter publiek bekend maken van de Indiaanse kunst.

A great suprise! Honestly had not heard of Millicent Rogers before we took a chance to see this museum. All of the beautiful artwork pottery really blew my mind. I had no idea how wonderful this museum is. Millicent Rogers was a beautiful woman, but her creations surpassed even her beauty. I will go back to take in more.
