Amazing history park in beautiful setting. Well worth a long visit.
We have visited in summer. It is very nice.
Lavender fest. Was cute and fun!
The activities were awesome.... However it seemed that better lighting or more fire pits should of been better planned for night programs..
Renaissance Faire was way FUN. Las Golondrinas is a really cool living museum. A trip back in time.
Enjoyed it a lot. Appreciate the volunteers, who help tell about the past, good demonstrations. Well worth the money!
This SPRING FLING of CSV was actually a lot of fun!!
We went to the Harvest Festival and it was a great day. Kids love the animals and the hay rides.
Great place to visit!, amazing repository of artifacts and people who really know the history of the area. We were fortunate enough to have Gordon Mark show us the old fashioned Wet Plate photo process of creating tintype photos. Truly magical
Wine festival is awesome. Going to go back tomorrow. The history behind the ranch is amazing. The volunteers are absolutely wonderful dressed in period clothing doing chores. They will put you to work carding wool or spinning yarn while bread bakes in horno ovens. General store, school house, mountain village, blacksmiths, carpenter, hide tannery, sorghum press and two types of mills that actually work.
I truly love this museum and they have some wonderful events, including the Santa Fe Renaissance fair
This place is an example of traditional NM beauty. We were there on a cool day. Love it here, can't wait to return!
I'm truly amazed by how many people don't even realize this place exists. I've come here a few times for the Renaissance Faire they host annually and it's a beautiful and immersive property. I haven't been there for any of the living history events it was built for, but you can definitely tell that it would be very impressive with all the old building and attention to detail in every aspect of the grounds. This place is definitely a must-see!
Awesome experience just wished their was more food choices. Loved the step back in time. Great family fun.
Las golondrinas offered a fantastic fall Renaissance festival!
Ghosts of NM past was a great event, but ran out of beer.
If you're looking for something family and budget friendly, this is the place. They host great events all year long and there is plenty of places for little ones to explore. As a teacher, I appreciate the educational aspect of this place as well. The staff is always kind and knowledgeable. We are frequent visitors.
I've only ever been here for renfaire, but what an amazing place. Lots of history
Amazing winery and event!!!
Great family entertainment. Every event is special in it's own way highly recommend to become a member.
It was beautiful!! Had so much fun at the ren faire but its been so educational and interesting each time I've gone. An experience to take the family to. But be prepared for HEAT and WALKING!!
Well kept grounds. Friendly staff
Nice time... And awesome events, recommend the food. Just needs more seating when enjoying food.
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the ranch and the buildings that have been moved there. It's a really unique piece of living history, anyone in the Santa Fe area should visit. You won't be disappointed.
This museum is excellent. I visited by myself today and, fortunately for me, it was not very busy and I hardly ran into other visitors. The number of volunteer docents they had present seemed to match that expectation, but for a Wednesday it was just right. I had a good connection with every docent I spoke with (I interacted with seven of them) and was able to learn a lot about the property itself and the history of the state. I could have run out the whole day speaking with each one and it was hard not to, which is what this five star rating is truly for. The people were excellent. The one thing which I’ll concede to the 1 star comment below is that there was little “living” going on, much of what I learned was through verbal interpretation. But otherwise, that other comment sucks! The people running this and taking care of it deserve your patronage just for keeping the historic buildings open on well-kept beautiful land. I enjoyed being in the space for its own sake. Anyway— The buildings are well-equipped with antique items that are accurate for the intended period and it did feel lived in. I was really glad to go and will go back again, especially during the upcoming harvest festival when it’s really supposed to pop off. Thanks to everyone there.
Excellent historical site and museum! Knowledgeable staff! It was so interesting to walk in the footsteps of the past! We went for a wine festival, which is a nice change of pace from the typical festival. I highly suggest it. Bring walking shoes and water.
One of my fave places in this area of NM. Festivals here are a blast and beautiful.
This is a great place for family visits. The events they have during the year are always entertaining & have something for all ages. We especially love the annual Renaissance Fair with all the activities & entertainers!
Went for the Renaissance Faire. Best Faire around. Saw lots of fun costumes. Great place to learn about NM history.
Great place to spend an afternoon especially with kids! Historical, interesting and summertime full with great festivals!
THis is a premier living history park. 400 acres, anchored by a 17th century reconstructed adobe hacienda. There is a beautiful overshot grist mill, fields of crops, an 18th-19th century village, vineyard and other features. THe Rancho presents several really pleasant festivals and events every year during its open season May through Sept.
Had a great time here a real learning experience
We liked it enough to go back. Lots of stuff to do.
Very good place for kids to learn about history. Also very good staff..
I always have a fun time with my kids here, no matter the event.
This place is amazing. There is so much to see and do! I would plan on giving yourself several hours to see it all. This place is steeped in history and is a super fun way to experience said history. My four kids love coming here and we make sure to at least once every year. The festivals are especially fun.
Super interesting history with eager staffers who evidently enjoy the role they play there in making it come to life.
Experienced a very pleasant day wandering amongst a crowd of knights and kings. The vendors were also very pleasant and had an array of goods to sell.
Wonderful place to learn of the early culture and way of life of the people of New Mexico.
For a simple visit or one of the events, an enjoyable place to experience.
We love the renaissance fear
VERY DISAPPOINTING VISIT! The pictures on the website imply that there would be many individuals dressed and working at the ranch in costumes that date back to the 1700's and 1800's. As an example, we had expected to see individuals baking bread and making tortillas. This was not the case during our Friday visit...there was no one there. We were told that we should have come on Thursday if we wanted to experience that. Their website DOES NOT MENTION this whatsoever! The visit to this ranch was to be the centerpiece of my Minnesota family's vacation....our day was ruined! This place needs to either close down or get more professionals running the operation.
Love the location and activities! Great for lovers of history and traditional arts!
I was so excited to visit this beautiful Rancho. We were immediately welcomed inside with smiles and suggestions as to what to be looking forward to on our journey. Incredible trees and a light, cool breeze. The History of the circa 1800's of dying wools and shearing sheep to tanning hides. A working flour mill using the same running stream is demonstrated by one of many volunteers on each exhibit. A stage with little girls dancing in beautiful dresses of the culture. We walked over to a patio with picnic tables and ordered a fantastic lunch. This beautiful adventure is a perfect place to spend the day.
Very fun Renaissance Festival that is family friendly
Fun place. Learned alot!
This living museum is an important and interesting part of Santa Fe history. Our children have always loved visiting here. We go several times each summer. We are so very disappointed that they don't have the Civil War days anymore. That was our favorite and we looked forward to May every year. There are a lot of other events throughout the year though. I love the knowledge that the volunteers share with guests. It never gets old.
What a neat place to visit from the past and they have a great little gift shop.
Once again we went for the 2029 Renaissance Fair. A l.j ways wonderful. And the grounds are wonderf
Great living museum with knowledgeable and friendly staff
We visit here every year for the Renaissance Fair, but this is a beautiful place to visit an learn and experience New Mexico history any time they're open. Bring a picnic and plan to spend at least a few lazy hours exploring the grounds.
We went to the renaissance fair and it is fantastic for kids of all ages!
Living history museum, a wonderful adventure through time.
Here after hours for a wedding. Very cool space to have special engagements. Lots of well done buildings covering the history of the area. Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
Magical. We came for the Fiesta de los Niños. The animals, the staff in period clothes (not costumes), the old house, the farming, the mask making station (!), the old water mill, the Blacksmith, the Tanner, the Hoop dancers, the ancient cottonwoods, the warm and friendly staff, ... This was a very nice time!
This is really an amazing place where you and your family can fully immerse yourself in the whole of New Mexican history. This is honestly a must see if you are going to spend any time in New Mexico
Great historical property. On weekends there are usually preformers and historical actors demonstrating how things were. Around noon the bread is usually being served fresh at the horno. During the year there are many festivals that are put on. The Children Festival and the Fiber Arts Festival is two of my family's favorites. There are lots of activities and hands on learning. The kids can learn to make tortillas from scratch and how to cook them. My daughter was so proud that she could make food like grandma.
Our final site visit in Santa Fe and in our top 3 for 7 day trip. Exhibits with docent guides provided an outstanding overview of Spanish, Mexican, New Mexican and Pueblo history and culture. Allow a half day, dress comfortably with good walking shoes, and enjoy a walk through history.
It cool
This is an excellent facility. Festivals throughout the year. Civil War reenactments. Food, wine and dance. Fun, entertainment, education and good times.
Very cool place to visit. Especially with the Renaissance faire happening.
We attended during wine festival. Entrance fee more expensive, but also this meant that all docents/actors were present. They did a great job, very well informed, the school teacher, shop keeper and wool spinners were especially good with kids. Mill runners were super informative.
Always have an amazing time regardless of the event that I attend. Wine festival, Renaissance fair, etc
We had a great time on our field trip today. There were many exciting and interactive activites for the kids to do. The weather was perfect today, adding to the beauty.
Love it there every time we go! Renaissance Festival was wonderful!
Fabulous venue. Our 6 year old loves it especially the tortilla making
Multi acre living museum with wide variety of events
Your guide was informative and knowledgeable.
Nothing to see. Don't waste your time
This was amazing! Must do in Santa Fe! Better than everything else we did while visiting. You never know what to expect with a free attraction, but this was incredible. Got there at 10 and poked around the gift shop until free tour at 1030. Talked about the history of the Santa Fe trail, and how life was for an 18th and 19th century resident. Learned a lot about construction, trade, defense, and travel across a variety of years. Had artifacts and setup to show the evolution of technology and methods, and demonstrations of weaving and other pioneer tasks. After tour, we walked the grounds and saw a couple of mills, blacksmith shop, and a small village. They said they were short staffed the day we were there, but it didn't show. They had a lavender festival the previous day, and were preparing for a wine festival the next week... Great space for events for sure
Awesome place to explore. The wine festival was fun. They food at their cafe was delicious and very reasonably priced.
A great spot anytime they have something going on. A step back in time, which we all can use time to time. A wonderful living museum. Go loose yourself in the past. Take a child and watch them learn and smile.
New Mexico history brought to life! The festivals bring added enjoyment! Get there early or plan to take 2 days to really get the full experience.
Wonderful Experience. What made the experience great was probably the tour which we were lucky to be just in time for. Our tour guide Jim walked us through different parts of the Ranch and almost made everything come alive. The Ranch itself had an exceptionally peaceful and quiet ambiance. Overall highly recommended to take the tour and then walk around the Ranch.
Beautiful place. Know that it's a living museum. It isn't paved, it's dusty, it's old. But it's got history, and it's neat as hell.
This place is beautiful and special. It hosts a variety of functions as an events location, but also serves as a "Living Museum", showcasing the past and current land owners nationalities and homeland knowledge of farming, construction and customs.
Gorgeous historic experience near Santa Fe - we love coming here. Make sure to bring the kids!
Perfect day for a family learning experience . Iv been here as a kid and is good place to bring the kids to learn teach them young .
Real nice. Never been here, a ways to go when ur traveling thru the mountains. I recommend it. And the rooms are excellent, nice staff, .
Beautiful location. Authentic history museum. Loved it.
it's a living history museum. They have buildings set up tho show what life was like in different eras. Some days there are volunteers to demonstrate different skills. They have a farm where they plant the crops that would have been grown. Its a large place, wear comfortable shoes.
magical!
This is a great place with a wagon ride, smashing berries barefoot & many other fun things to do. They teach you how to make tortillas also...
A beautiful place. Full of history and with great Festivals/Faires. Perfect for the family.
Great Wine Festival!!!
Was here for 2017 Renaissance festival. Very nice event. There was a little bit for all ages. I enjoyed the heavy weapons battles the most. Great facility which adds to the ambiance to the event.
We had a great time with dear friends today. The weather was perfect! Loved the art work and artisan crafts and all things New Mexico
It was real interesting there and there is a lot of history in New Mexico
Excellent historical heritage
This place it's so big I think 3 mile, if you are planning to go, wear an old comfortable shoes, it's to much area to walk, as well all locations are a bit far, so bring a water bottle. Price are 5 per person
This was a wonderful experience!
It's a very amazing and magical place.
Went to Santa fe wine fest. Lots of fun and great wine. Look for places that slightly chill red wine. 86 degrees too warm for reds.
Fabulous. A wonderful heritage ranch/farm/community. Allow plenty of time to walk the 200+ acres and chat with the volunteers in period costume who are actually performing the activities/tasks from times gone by. All were engaging...especially enjoyed the tinsmith.
Wonderful place to visit. Can hardly wait for harvest festival
This is a working village and is awesome! You really get to see how people lived I the 1800's. It's a great little walk. I would love to go back for the festival's they have!
Its was fun... The seance needs help but i like the idea!!
Thank you to the volunteers and other staff committed to preserving NM history. Beautiful day, lots of walking, pack a lunch.
My family & I love this place! So much to do when attending during festivals.Take a walk into history while enjoying the museum among the cottonwoods. Hands on demonstrations learn how to make your very own corn doll, roll out a tortilla & so much more. El Rancho De Las Golondrinas (the ranch of the swollows) welcomes family functions as well. Very informative and friendly. Thank you for accommodating our family during our visits Amy! Trudy Dean
Excellent experience.Enjoyed the Santa Fe renaissance fair there. Durribg that events its cool that they offer some New Mexico history along with the fair.
Beautiful and peaceful scenery. Everyone super friendly and welcoming.
What a beautiful and friendly tour through true New Mexico history, plus it has some interesting minerals and land formations.
Beautiful grounds, clean, friendly and informative volunteers. Great hands on learning experience. Kid friendly! Stroller friendly for main buildings, trails out further have steps to navigate. Sheep, Donkeys, Goats, Bullfrogs in water areas.
A beautiful historic little spot, I hope everybody has an opportunity to enjoy
What an interesting guide we had. I sure am glad I live in these modern times. This is the place every school kid should visit with a docent. Wear comfortable walking shoes because there sure is a lot to see. We could have spent twice as much time here.
What a fun living museum! Loved learning New Mexico's history.
Very fun for the kids
Great place to take the family or out of town guests .
The docents and reenactors were helpful and full of knowledge which they generously shared with any willing listener.
We stopped by and it was closed. The parking lot gates were open for a meeting, so we wandered in not knowing it was closed. Dan was a wonderful host and gave us a quick run through and let us walk the grounds. THANK YOU!!! ✌
Beautiful weather fun day with great wine tasting and wonderful entertainment
Fun experience but there is a lot of walking and some spots that it is hard to get a stroller past.
Born and raised in New Mexico... Went to a couple field trips out there and started going to the Santa Fe Renaissance Faire every September and my family and I absolutely love it...New Mexico history ..awesome place to check out.
Fun historic site, go to the festivals and see the most that is going on or go during the other days for a low key time.
Great interactive place to learn about New Mexico's history!
Beautiful piece of New Mexico History Lois, Pedro, Oscar & Jerry are some of the best museum decadents in NM Completely knowable of the Historical site.
A living museum with lots of storytelling, interesting hikes and landscapes and a fun way to have a great idea of the 18th Century lifestyle!
Super very interesting
One of my all time favorite places to be. So much so, in fact, that I am now a volunteer.
Cool festivals and best NM history
Great historic buildings! Plus, it was great for the Santa Fe renaissance fair too.
Amazing
Great museum with very knowledgeable docents to provide historical information
Nice place. good for being outdoors, walking plus some history.
We went to the renaissance fair at Los Golondrinas. It was a good time and we had lots of fun.
Is very nice to have fun with family!
So much fun. It goes on and on. I will go back
A remarkable display of living history of the region. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing and bring water. Plan on several hours of outdoor walking to see the extensive exhibits. No smoking on premises. Small, well stocked gift shop.
I was there for the renaissance faire, good location but I wish there were more food options
Great educational experience
Awesome museum. Had a great time learning about homestead living. Had a brewfest when we attended and it was great. Good food and awesome people to be around. Would highly recommend.
Unique living museum from the Spanish colonial period. Great place to photograph in the fall.
The best venues for any event. Great bands and food , beer and drinks. Wonderful historical place. A must see and experience. Fun times for all even children. Wonderful shop with Native American and pottery, jewelry and woven rugs, tapestry , etc.
Warning- if attending on a warm day- take water. Gorgeous property.
I was sceptical of going thinking my 5 and 9 year old would not like it, I was so wrong! This place was great! My kids enjoyed learning about the history of the region and the activities available were very fun.
This is the best living history museum in our state. I love all the cultural events and the atmosphere. Great place to spend the day!
I've been here for field trips as a child and now as an adult we went for the Renaissance Faire. It was fantastic and it is so ambient, though the hill from the water wheel back up to the main village with two tired toddlers was hard
Its very nice and the volunteers are amazing and knowledgeable. Bring hats, sunscreen and walking shoes. Our group had ages 5,8,10,16,20, and above and they all found something to enjoy.
What a great place a view into New Mexico past. The building's are as they were in the past. Educational with many wonderful volunteers dressing as early Spanish quite knowledgeable and interesting,if you haven't been go,if you have been go back.
Is historical place where you will find the old houses and buildings from the year of 1800 , there is people in each building explaining what happened in and they are dressed up like those times. Is good for having a long walk while you get to know about how Santa Fe was founded .
Beautiful grounds with a lot to see.
Had so much fun walking around the property. Would definitely visit again the next time I'm in NM.
Field Trip was very nice.
Great place to excape and relax.
We were here for a Renaissance Fair. It is a neat place to visit regardless of the events taking place there.
Amazing! Take a step back to a simpler time and enjoy exploring our beautiful history and culture. Thank you for restoring, preserving and sharing this exceptional place.
Learned so much with my son. Definitely going back again.
Always an awesome place to visit and tour. If and when visiting Santa Fe, make sure you make some time to further enrich your tour of Santa Fe by walking through this fantastic Museum!!!
Beautiful historical place
The place is great victor really treated us well
Wow, alot of people came tonight, had a great time just the same. Each year it getting better. So educationally fun.
This is a must see historical museum. Children from all over the area are brought here from them schools. You are set back in time to a much simpler life. You will be richly impressed.
I am a fan of all of their festivals, especially the Renaissance Fair, but its super hot, if we could add more tarps throughout the venue, it would be perfect!!!
Such a beautiful day, with good friends. The docents were great and everything was so well maintained and true to it's time. A must visit if in NM.
I was with a vendor selling chokecherry jelly , and had a really good time friendly people great experience all a round
Great location with some very nice views and interesting history.
Our tour guide Jerry was phenomenal explaining the history of this ranch. We walked most of the ranch afterwards. Learning about the history and the way of life of the past is very enriching. The 3 hours we spent there went by flying.
