This Museum belongs to the category of Museum.
Nicely organized, ran by volunteers, they have a lot of historical planes as well as some modern ones.
Enjoyed seeing the planes up close and viewing the wall of signatures of veterans
Some really great artifacts and memorabilia. Worth the trip.
The curators have done a marvelous job keeping the museum extremely interesting. Kids always love getting up close to some airplanes that are inaccessible in any other setting. We learn something new every time we go.
If you are looking for a fun experience for you and the kids to do in the Wildwood area, this is the place to be!!! I have 3 children 3,6,13 respectively and they loved it!!! There was plenty of history to relive my grandfather's WWII Navy days and lots of interactive exhibits for the kids. We were there for 3 hours and there was plenty we missed!!!
Lots of history nicely displayed. Each piece has a plaque with a description so you know its background. If you like museums this one is worth visiting.
Worth a visit
The NAS has so many displays and aircrafts to look and it really helps people understand the contribution it served during World War II. The annual Labor Day AirFest is an added treat to see for the whole family too!
In a word, Wonderful. Went for a private, pro-military event and was amazed by all the displays. Good food and cold drinks. Great event location.
The Naval Air Station is a great place for both young and young at heart. My kids love going when we come down for vacation. Our family that live in the area have a family pass which is worth it they get to go to all the events and the air show.
Very informative, fun for the whole family. The history in two short years of operation is impressive. The displays are good and love the aircraft
Very well done museum dedicated to the Navy pilots who were stationed here during World War II. Amazing collection of aircraft and other vehicles from the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, along with local connections to the Naval Air Station. Many interesting displays to peruse - just be sure to read the signage that goes with each display; some interesting facts. A highly recommended side visit on your trip to Cape May or Wildwood.
Such great aviation history! Was there during the Labor Day Holiday Event & had one awesome time seeing & touring through the WWII bombers & Fighter planes! With great tasting food, music entertainment, & the roar of the WWII planes taking off & flying by, this was a very good time had by all!
My son and I had a fabulous time here. Tyre work they do restoring and preserving the equipment is amazing. I will definitely be back next year.
Amazing museum. Very interactive. They allow visitors to enter many of the aircrafts and other vehicles on display. It is a bit pricey but lots to see in the small area.
A lot of WW2 and Vietnam era material. Very special on labor day weekend with special WW2 bombers and fighter planes. Kids and adults can enter aircraft.
Great place
Came by with friends and really loved it! Definitely a must see in Cape May/Wildwood
Fun for kids to run around and have hands on experience with planes, helicopters and vehicles.
I had great experience there, got to ride B-24 plane, probably most fun I had in a long time
Exelent
Super-cool hands-on museum.
It is a very interesting place if you like history and planes and military this is the place for you !! Also it's 14.00 per adult worth it to me plus it helps keep the history alive !!
Great experience. Lots of military planes and some other vehicles. Many you can get into. Videos were well done. Some of the displays are old but overall a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours.
Great place to visit with family.
This place is an absolute must see if your ever in Cape May. The exhibit are interesting and informative. The airplanes are well kept and some your allowed to explore the inside.
Cool experience at the Wildwood Naval Air station. Only mistake was going on a hot sunny day. Hangers are a very warm place to hang out. A nice collection of crafts with an interesting collection of local history. Definitely kid friendly as a lot of cockpit switching has been significantly used.
great place to learn about the history of aviation of the new age. the planes are well preserved
Great museum show casing military aircraft from as far back a WWII
Always a wonderful experience!!
An outstanding show of history. Great visit.
This is one of my favorite places to be! As soon as you check in you are welcomed and given your admission bracelet. Immediately after that the fun starts! There are so many aircraft and eye catching displays in the hanger that you won’t want to leave! It has more aircraft to see than any other air museum in the state! You will learn so much that you will want to research more about what you’ve learned when you leave! Whether you are visiting with your family or by yourself you won’t regret it!
Great place to go to learn some history and see some amazing aircraft!
Loved it very educational everyone needs to go
We stayed on the beaches at Wildwood and after a day at the beach we were hesitant to drive 20 minutes. This museum though was such an interesting and exciting place to go. The kids LOVED it as they have aircraft they are allowed to go into and play with buttons etc. HOORAH!
Perfect for an afternoon stroll.
Very well worth the vist
Awesome day Lots of history in that building
Cool hanger full of history and decommissioned aircraft. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.
This place holds so much History about Wildwood and the Cape May area
Great place to take kids and any plane enthusiast. Was there for airfest and will go back again. Great event.
Lots of airframes, interesting things to see and touch.
Great place to remember the military and learn what they did there. Loved being able to get close and touch the planes. Also a place to remember those who lost their lives in training for WWII.
Fun and interactive for families. When you're down the shore and need a break from the beach this is the best excursion. It's my kids go to spot every summer!
What a hidden gem of the Cape May Peninsula! Go here...you won’t be disappointed!
Great place to see historical aircraft.
My first time visiting this museum. Highly enjoyed it, especially since you can board some of the aircraft display. Awesome place to bring kids.
Enjoyed book review with author "Women of New Jersey in WWII"
Liked seeing all the older planes up close and able to tour a couple. Was expecting to see more of an air show though. But overall a nice time.
Pretty cool museum. Good for families. I wish they had more fans or air conditioner because it was very hot inside.
We were on vacation in March when many key attractions are closed. We were apprehensive of what to expect but were very pleasantly surprised! With 7 adults and 4 kids...all boys (2-9 years) they loved it. Lots to look at, newer and older jet planes and military helicopters to get in and out of, interactive flying games. The adults loved it too especially for those that enjoy military and WWII history. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Definitely worth the visit.
This is a fantastic exhibt! Don't miss it.
Museum was informative and educational. More geared towards children, but I still had fun. I feel the admission was a bit high though.
Great museum! Clean and lots of cool airplanes and period displays. A must see!
Real great WW2 exposition
A fun museum that gives an interesting history of New Jerseys contributions to the military.
The kids really loved this place. It is full of old WW2 aircraft that you can sit in and enjoy. The kids had a blast. You'll spend about 1.5 hours exploring if you take your time. It's indoors but no AC (hangar) so when we went it was 95° outside so still uncomfortable inside. That's just a warning- we expected that.
Many very interesting aircraft on display and a lot of military history for the area.
I could bore everyone with a long review but I won't. It was simply AWESOME! Just make sure you have h2o since hanger really hot here at the end of June.
An extremely fun place to visit with alot of hands on exhibits, great for all ages. A true treasure for history buffs and people with a love of aviation.
Great place to visit while in Cape May. Lots of history and much to see.
Didn't expect much from our visit, but it was very pleasant visit. We never heard about the museum before. On our way back to Philly we decide to check the museum. Its the only wooden hangar I've been to. And it's impressive. There are a lot of plane and other aviation related exhibit to check. Interesting place for younger kids as well. Lots of stuff they can interact with. There are few flights simulator as well. Most of the exhibit also come from WW1. To anyone who enjoy museum, I think it's a must go.
I spent 26 years working in air craft from the c 5 to a10 wort hog and a lot in between the air station in wildwood no. Don't impress me at all not very well laid out
Went on a Saturday at 3:00 p.m and there were only a few people in the museum. The museum has it's own parking lot, and very clear signage on where to go. The hangar which the museum is located within (also very historic), sits right outside of the airport, and gives great views of some small planes taking off and landing. When you enter, you walk straight into the gift shop where you will be charged admission. $14 per adult is definitely worth it for all of the work they do to maintain the planes, and add new exhibits to the museum. There's no real layout, or order you have to follow, but working clockwise around the museum is best. You can spend an hour here and see everything, or 3 hours if you want to stop and read every single thing. You're able to climb some stairs and walk right next to mostly all of the planes, and there are a few that you can even sit in. They also have a few exhibits that are unique to Cape May during WWII, and about 3 flight simulators (Flight Simulator X). I would absolutely return to the museum in another year or 2 when they have some new exhibits. I recommend checking out the museum right across the street (free!), before or after you're done.
Great spot for rainy days for the kids, season pass is worth it!
I loved this place! It was not busy, there was a lot to see, the descriptions of everything went into depth, and there were multiple videos. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to get out and do something. Admission is $14 for an adult and $10 for children.
Had a blast on July 4th with my kids and wife, so much history to see and they loved it as a former servicemen it brought back alot of memories. Signing the Veterans Board was my favorite pat. It's a must for avaition and military enthusiasts.
We went to a free lecture to hear Lee Trimble talk about the amazing story of his father, Captain Robert Trimble, in his novel, "Beyond The Call'". Looking forward to the final lecture on August 1st, "Survival In The Skies"
Really cool old planes, copters, and more. You can go inside of some of them! Historical exhibits are genuinely interesting. There is a neat series of optical illusions that mimic difficulties of seeing things from a pilot's point of view. Affordable, $24 for 1 adult and 1 child.
Good insight into ww2 history, nice displays, good for kids. Support local museum.
This is an awesome piece of local history that everyone should experience. A small fee is charged to get inside of this historic hangar filled with vintage aircraft, but it helps to support the museum. Lots to see and learn. Teachers could bring classes of schoolchildren to this exhibit to show them a piece of U.S. history and our part in WWII.
Very educational.
This museum is a fabulous, huge WWII hanger filled with many different original pieces used during the 40's and up...helicopters, planes, Coast Guard boat, jets, engines, jeeps, a HellCat, etc. plus Interactive displays, original log books & photos!! Anyone interested in aviation would appreciate this incredible collection.
Lots of great and educational exhibits for children and adults alike. There are many aircraft to sit in, an actual air traffic control tower, and several simulators. There is a great gift shop. You can also purchase an annual membership for unlimited visits. Great place!!!
Fun and set up nicely. There isn't a huge amount of variety, and while it definitely not kid oriented per say there was a decent effort into promote v
B17 Collings Foundation
We have visited this museum several times over the years and it is always a wonderful experience! We love getting an up close look at all of the airplanes. They have a nice collection of photographs and artifacts. The staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable. I also placed an order on their website and received my item very quickly. It is obvious that this place is maintained by people who love what they do. We'll definitely be back!
Went here with my 3 year old son and we loved it. It is a great place to get some quality time with the kids and learn about the history of the Airport we drive by everyday. It was cool to see my son in the Pilot chairs of different planes and helicopters. The gift shop is cool they have alot neat toys that you won't see at the normal retailers and are fairly priced not the normal gift shop stigma of overly priced junk. Lastly I want to point out that they have a reoccurring fee for each visit which is fair or even better if you think you'll be visiting more then once a year it's a good idea to check out there family packages that will save you money and give you unlimited visits to this very cool Aviation Museum.
Great Labor Day weekend amazing air craft from the greatest generation. B17 amazing it can still fly, P51 awesome.
It's a great place to take the kids and for adults to learn about the aircraft used in our past wars. Prepare to be there at least 2 hours.
A great place to go and learn about history. They have a huge variety of preserved military aircrafts, and offer an inside look at their construction. Kids will learn a ton here and have so much fun doing it!
Excellent place. Former submarine sailor here and I really enjoyed the museum. Go NAVY!!
Great local place for family visits.
Amazing experience. I had no idea this was even in wildwood but my father-in-law is 25 year retired navy pilot and we got the idea from him to go. A lot of very interesting facts about training at NASW along with a tribute to the 42 that lost their lives during training exercises. I would highly recommend going even if you are not from a military family. Great place to pay some respect to those who served!
Great place to learn about the history of South Jersey and aircraft of the Era
Naval Air Station Wildwood is a great take. A beautiful old hangar with some amazing planes. The kids loved touching the planes and sitting in some. A lot of the planes and helicopters had stairs that let you either see it up close or walk through. Nice short video about the history of the Air Station, which helped put it in perspective for everyone. The kids also loved the simulators. I would suggest setting up more photograph opportunities to help advertise NAS Wildwood. There are plenty of opportunities. The kids love getting into the cockpit and putting on helmets. I would have liked to take home a NAS Wildwood challenge coin, but they are only for members and we were visiting from out of state. Short of that, it would have been great to get a magnet or another keepsake that said NAS Wildwood. Maybe a patch or something. Overall a great place to visit with a lot more potential. All three types of planes used in the shooting of Top Gun are there. On top of the military history, I think the pop culture angle will also be appreciated if you point it out in the hangar.
Great kids friendly destination in a rainy day
A well spent day
Great aviation museum with awesome aircraft. Great history and exciting learning experience for the kids.
Had a great time. Kids loved seeing t he planes and helicopters!
If you want to see a major part in history this Is definitely a good place to go and take a step back in time you can get up close and personal with real jets helicopters you name it its here and it's all in a original hangar back from world war II there's alot of history here so definitely make this a to do
WWll planes where here. Helpful staff and amazing planes
My 4th visit and it gets better everytime! They keep adding more planes and subjects to display....
Was very expensive for just a few planes, however beautiful and interesting they were. The exhibits on what life was like during the 40's was very interesting as well. The museum itself wasn't so organized, with exhibits on topics totally unrelated to aviation or the 40's here and there. Great photo ops with planes and coast guard vehicles tho. Nice gift shop too and very interesting and information experience.
Very cool place for buffs and casual visitors alike. Plenty of detailed displays, some beautifully restored aircraft and very neat engines and other accessories. If you are really into old warbirds, the TBM Avenger they have center stage is amazing. I stood in awe of it for a good couple minutes. Great place to swing by for a couple hours, and a very reasonable price for the quality of the exhibits.
Good place to take the kids too. Staff friendly and usually some vets around. Went during a hot day so a bit short visit :)
It is a great airplane museum amazing to see the planes up close
Good experience. We went in November so crowd was minimal. I can expect it to be busy in summer time
Definitely worth the trip! Went there with 3 generations, ages 5-76... including 2 teens! Everyone had fun! There were other things on the premises we wish were included but still awesome to just drive by.
Loved it must have vist
Absolutely love this hidden gem. My kids love the planes & I love the history behind them. This is a must visit in my opinion and help keep the history of our country alive !
Such a great museum set up! And the interactive displays make this such a cool place for kids!
Interesting place with a lot too see for the amount of space they have there is a huge selection of planes. My son is six and he had enjoyed himself a lot.
Best little detour I have ever taken! We decided to check it out thinking we would kill an hour to avoid traffic. Our family spent hours here and we want to go back!
Several new helicopter and exhibits added since our last visit. I really enjoy climbing into several planes and helicopters. Kids will enjoy learning and climbing.
A lot to see and a lot to experience. Well done.
Must check this out if in the area. Nice exhibit.
Great experience! A wonderful activity for a rainy day (or any other day). Tons of stuff to see and interact with.
There is so much to learn here at the aviation museum. It is a great place for the entire family ages 1- 110. I have been here for a catered event and a wine event hosting many vineyards of New Jersey. It is a great place to visit any time of year and is inexpensive.
Just a great discovery for a non beach day.
A lot of hands on activities to keep children busy. great history and wonderful and variety of preserved aircraft.
Very enjoyable. I would highly recommend.
What a place to visit !!The history is amazing. Kids did not want to leave. The historic aircraft are fantastic
It's a wonderful reminder of the work and sacrifices of the Greatest Generation. The facility needs a little TLC, particularly the kids' exhibits in the center of the space, but all the primary vehicles are in very good condition. Perfect place to go if you're vacationing in Cape May and it's raining. (Very hot weather, not as much, since it's not climate-controlled.)
Alot of vintage planes
Amazing planes and are beautiful and very well kept I do ww2 reenactments I think that there should be one held there in the hanger and field
Small but nice can really get close to a lot of the planes and such which is really nice. Some fun things for kids to do as well. Just a little overpriced imo.
Hubby and I took our nephew and we all really enjoyed our visit. Very educational and we learned a lot while our nephew was in awe with all the different planes, ships etc.
This is a great place to go while you're in Cape May, especially on a rainy day. The admission is cheap and there's a ton to do for all ages. It's filled to the brim with planes and cars that you can sit in. I easily spent three hours here with friends and had a great time
A really good museum with a lot of airplanes, vehicles and boats to explore. It also has a lot of 1940s / WWII memorabilia. It is great for kids and adults.
Great nonprofit museum, and they have the most interesting historical items.
Great place to visit
Great collection and variety of beautiful historic planes
Amazing to see such a collection of planes in this old historic hanger. Alot of hands, ability to get in / sit in aircraft cockpits to see first hand what it is to see what they must have seen. It also has a good bit of history of the training that was conducted there during WW2.
It was a great experience for my grandchildren. They could climb on everything and push all the buttons. Jeeps, airplanes, watch tower, and helicopters! What more could you ask for?
The kids enjoy this place. They love climbing in the planes and stuff. It has decent amount of historical info. They are always adding more to it and it supports military vets. I was under the impression that you can also rent space for private affairs, but I'm not sure.
Great place to visit if you like to see old war birds up close.
The museum their is far more interactive than any other I've been to.
Great time walking around after a great breakfast. You can jump in all kinds of planes and vehicles. Nice set of history!!! Thank you. Everyone should join!
Great Museum with lots of historical memorabilia on display. Many of which you can get up to and touch. Lots of local history on display as well.
Amazing. Great place to visit in Cape May. Highly recommended.
Bunch of discarded aviation junk. Then they want to charge 20 dollars a head to get in. Reminded me of the Kennedy space center museum in Florida. 40 dollars a person for space junk.
Awesome exhibit, and nice to see so many patriotic people.
It's a very nice place to check out. You can spend a good couple of hours there. Highly recommended for family with kids.
A fun place to visit. A great collection of vintage aircraft interspersed with interesting historical facts and displays.
What an amazing place my three-year-old and five-year-old had such a great time so did I definitely a great place for the kids to be able to get into a cockpit will fighter jet and let their imaginations go crazy my son loved sitting in the cobra
Not a particularly good avaition museum. Many aircraft in poor condition. Lots of school kids running around when I got there. I was like a playground, with lots of them jumping around and bumping into you. After the kids left, the people in the gift shop left the place deserted. A few people came wandering in and just walked around because there was nobody collecting admission. The doors were all wide open. This was several hours before the place was supposed to close. I felt like I was ripped off for $14. Not recommended.
Great place to learn about the history of military forces and how the area was involved. Great for a rainy day. Don't forget to visit the Vietnam Memorial across the road.
A nicely organized aviation museum with a friendly staff.
If you are in cape may nj So see this it's worth the trip and have breakfast.at the diner there you won't be disappointed.
Excellent time. A little disappointed the special aircraft couldn't be there. More should be done to recognize visiting veterans.
Amazing amount of history. We spent several hours there.
Appropriate pricing and great for small kids. Nice historical facts and stories for older crowds as well.
Lots of history, especially for WWII enthusiasts.
I took my son here for spring break and he had lots of fun he love taking pictures it was a great things to do on a family vacation
Well done ! Great displays and old aircraft and ground transport !
This place was great! The staff is friendly and had lots of info on the planes. My Uncles, and my Moms cousins served in WWII.Althought that did not fly planes, they were on battle ships. The one room that makes this reak,is where they have war brides, with letters to they loved ones. Trip was so worth it.
Great stuff. I was here during the airshow, and flew in a B-17 Flying Fortress, chance of a lifetime. Great stuff at the museum too, definitely worth a visit.
Great food, great atmosphere
Family had a great time looking at all the stuff here. Love that most of the planes were please touch for the kids!
I finally got a chance to go here on the last day of the show. very nice to have a place like this. thx.. 1 to 10. ...^7
Very interesting. .also got to see some planes fly..thanks
Absolutely fantastic, so happy we brought the kids to see and hear and learn a little bit of history. On every trips we take we always try to show the kids a little bit of patriotism and get to 1-2 historic site. Love it!!!
My daughter really enjoys the place. I don't know its okay. The second time we went there they had a party the night before...they were not set up for museum guests..lots of things turned off or not working.
Very cool place to take our kids.
Visited the museum July 4th week while staying at Wildwood. So glad that I did. Absolutely awesome! My small kids loved it as well. You actually get to go inside a lot of the exhibits. So cool to see military planes, boats, helicopters, etc up close and personal. My hilight was being able to sit in cockpit of Cobra attack helicopter. Exhibits ranging from WW2, Vietnam, Cold War, and beyond. So much to see and do. I could have spent hours in there. They also do a great job of posting history about the exhibit and providing interactive stations. Totally worth it!
