Here you will see all the feddbacks of people who consume the products of Morris Museum (Museum) in the area close to the state of New Jersey.
Right now the firm has a score of 4.5 stars over 5 and this score is based on 368 reviews.
As you can see its rating is basically the best one, and it is based on a high number of opinions, so we can say that the assessment is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put feddbacks when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Museum corresponds to the category of Museum.
Excellant I enjoyed
Kid friendly.
The foremost public repository of antique mechanical music instruments and related atomatons in the western hemisphere. Anything from simple music boxes to world class androids and huge carousel organs. The world famous Guineas collection is but one department of this well run municipal cultural institution, which also includes a Theater and musical events. Also a great place to take kids of any age.
Great for little ones and big ones alike.
I liked this place well maintained grounds knowlegable staff very pleasant
Easy parking. Small, family friendly museum. Lots of interactive exhibits.
Lovely museum. It may be small but it is packed with interesting exhibits.
A good place to prep your little kids for a visit to a bigger museum. Not overwhelming. Just right for kids. I recommend this place.
Was a really fun experience. Would go there again
Kids had fun. There was a chocolate exhibit going on. It's good for a few hours, but not an all day thing. Will probably return when there's another interesting exhibit.
What a waste of money it was for my family to go there today. It started just at the entrance, as we were paying $34.00 for two adults and two kids, we noticed the sign that offered the same amount of people for 25% off. Do you think the guy would let us get the discount? Nope. Then, it was on to what amounted to a museum who must have had a budget of one you'd find in a third-world country. Plenty of rocks, some Indian artifacts, a poorly-lit music box display... just a bunch of boring garbage! Do yourself a favor- go into NYC and see real museums.
A wonderful local museum designed to introduce kids to the museum experience and also engage adults in some creative and unexpected exhibits such as recent ones around hollywood costumes, tea set collections, etc. There is something for everyone in the family and it is a very realistic size for bringing an entire family. Staff is warm and excited in the material they have to share with visitors. Guinness collection is a little dark - but i suspect that is because of what the exhibit is? It might be a good idea to explain those aspects of what it takes to keep an exhibit like that in good shape so it all makes sense. Great value for a membership.
Pretty cute small museum. Brought my twin 19 month olds and there was things for them to do there . Look like they had fun
Must visit if you are living in this or nearby county
Super fantastic, give your self some time
Great place to visit
Love this little museum and the shows ssre fantastic
My 6 year old had fun exploring and looking at the exhibits.
It was fun being their, expecially the music box collection
So much to look at! Really cool! Good for all ages
Thoroughly enjoyed the Guinness collection of mechanical instruments, and the model trains. The Guinness speaker was very knowledgeable .
Enjoyed 2 hours at this small museum with my 5 year old nephew on a rainy day. His favorite was the train exhibit. I was pleasantly surprised by the mechanical music collection.
Great museum. Lots of little galleries. If you have a Bank of America credit card, you can get 1 free admission the first Saturday of the month too! Great presentations throughout the year. Not terribly expensive either if you have to pay admission.
So so
Love the train show and the ever changing special exhibition
The museum was excellent...spent quite a bit in their gift shop
Very nice, perfect for a music obsessed son
I recently visited the Morris Museum for the Toothpick World Exhibit. The exhibit was incredible. We were able to visit on a pay as you wish night (second and third Thursday of the month from 4 PM to 8 PM). The museum is generally only open until 5, so these late hours allowed us to come by after work and check out this limited time exhibit. We have done the same in the past for the lego exhibit. Definitely recommend checking out their high profile temporary installations!
Beautiful museum, great exhibits, easy to navigate. Overall a very pleasant experience, highly recommended.
Love, love, love, ! Great museum the whole family of all ages will enjoy,!
We enjoyed it
Automata con was amazing.
Small manageable museum with excellent exhibits. The Guinness collection is amazing. The model train set is great and you can really get lost in it...so many little details.
Very quirky. There is a entrance fee and they mostly close by 5. But a fun find .
The museum is extremely friendly. Meaning it isn't too big. We got there at 2pm, just in time to listen to a guide give a music demo, wandered around the whole museum at a casual pace and we enjoyed the model train display they had for the holidays. All this took us 2 hours. Parking is easy and free. Bathrooms were readily available and elevators too. Kid friendly. Enjoyed our visit.
Outstanding! Make sure you plan your visit to be there at 2 pm for the music box lecture, excellent!
My son had an awesome time with the model train display. We also enjoyed the Mechanical Music and Automata room. They did a live presentation of some of the mechanical music machines. We went on the Bank of American free day. Overall we had a really good time!
Nice place for family
They have Great collections.
Really nice museum. My kids love it. Great childrens area.
Price is reasonable. Lots for the kids to touch and do.
Very casual setting. Not busy when we went so the grandchildren could take their time seeing everything. Train exhibits got most of their time and attention.
Small but enjoyable museum. Especially for kids.
A good place to go and get the library passes which will get you free admission.
Small but fun to check out
Small museum, good to spend time for an hour or two.kids have limited activities. Get family museum pass from your local library if available
Great place!
Very nice place love the exhibit s
Good for kids and can engage up to 2 to 3 hrs
Hidden gem, and extremely kid friendly! Doesn't open to 11, unfortunately.
Good for kids. Steampunk, dinosaurs, old mechanical music machines. A few Picasso works.
Amazing experience
Bickford theater, great show's
Really wonderful place for my young kids. The model train room by itself would have been enough entertainment! There was also a dinosaur exhibit and musical instruments. Plus a whole exhibit on fire fighting. We went on a free night and I would go back and pay admission. Great museum!
Seems big donor converted his private collection into museum. Loved the fully functional train town. Some of the weekdays evening has fee free entry.
Really cool little museum. Make sure not to pass by the glass door in the room after the lobby; that's the best part! The automata collection is amazing! They often have tours and will play the machines! Great fun stop for anyone into mechanisms and automata.
Nice day out
This place is great for kids and family. Kids would love this place!
Unique and informative. Excellent venue for events as well. Rich history and always friendly staff.
Nice small museum. Great holiday train display. Interesting exhibition on musical instruments.
Great museum with beautiful artwork. Love how they change their displays regularly, so you see new art with every visit.
This is a decent small sized museum. They have plays and interesting exhibitions. It is pretty good for kids. It also, oddly enough, is a popular wedding destination.
Nice exhibits! Good for young kids, especially the music section. A lot of interactive elements.
Poor. I took my daughter, grandson, and 10-week old granddaughter to the yoyo show. It was a good show, but when I purchased tickets, there was a sign stating the everyone must have a ticket "by order of the Morris Township Fire Marshall." I questioned why a 10-week old, being held by the mother, needed a ticket, and they claimed that it was the Fire Marshall's order. I spoke with Linda Morris, the director of the museum, after talking with the Fire Marshall (who said there was no such order). She eventually got back to me and said that it may have been a previous Fire Marshall who ordered that, but because they have to track how many people are in the audience everyone, including a 10-week old, had to have a ticket. I have never heard of anything like this before. Just a way to rip-off people. I'll never be back. I asked Linda to run this by the Board of Directors, and she reluctantly agreed to let me know their response. I'm following up for early October.
It's a lovely collection...the lino glass exhibit was fabulous. The music box/ automation demo GREAT... enjoyable.
Smaller museum, but a good variety of exhibits. Check for special exhibits.
Nice quiet museum with a good variety of eclectic beautiful art.
Great experience...loved the Guinness Music collection as well as the kinistetics exhibit! I also so an ad that offers this venue for weddings, bridal showers, etc...
Very cool, charming place. Theater is cozy.
A great place for families with kids
Fun for free with Bank of America Museums on Us
Great exhibits for a local museum. Ideal for children's school trips.
Delightful experience for the grandchildren, and especially interesting with the gem collection.
Cozy, not a big selection to see.
With all the exhibits, admission is worth the price!
An extraordinary Museum in Morristown, NJ. Features include the Murtaugh Guiness collection of antique automata and mechanical musical machines, which ranks among the finest in the world.
One of the great Treasures of New Jersey!
Small but nice !
Train set and planetarium are good. Kids loved them. Orchestrion collection is impressive.
Fun place for kids
Very good collection of musical instruments
Nice collection of stones The evolution of musical instruments.. Indian musical section touched my heart
Always good program for kids. Never get tiered from this place.
Great place to bring kids. Trains, dinosaurs and lots of fun!
Tons of awesome automata on display when I went. Unfortunately, some of the equipment wasn't working properly on the tour portion, but the rest of the tour was great. Get to the tour 10 min early to get a good seat.
Small museum with nice variety of displays. The model train display was excellent-the kids loved it. They also l I'll ked the dinosaur exhibit, the Crystal's and gems and the Guiness display of automated music machines.
The mechanical music player collection is well worth the price alone! Make sure you get a live demo. I hadn't visited in nearly forty years, glad to see old favorites like the model trains, minerals, and dinosaur exhibit were still there. The native American beadwork collection is fascinating as well.
Great unique collection
Little bit of everything. The Curator deserves a cookie and a gold star. Plenty of stuff for children such as trains and dinosaurs. Plus enough to entertain us adults. Steampunk now, rock and roll. Incredible mix all presented very thoughtfully.
I liked the Morris Museum because it had a variety of exhibits. From musical boxes to dinosaurs, I felt I received a well rounded tour.
Tremendous place for young kids. Impressive mechanical music boxes and dolls. Highly recommend the Guinness collection
Great performance in a very nice atmosphere
There are not many things to do in Morristown sometimes and hence, this place is recommended. The staff was very friendly. This place has preserved many natuve American history artifacts. They have a dedicated section for music lovers which also explains the science behind it. There is a small dinosaur fossil section and a miniature version of a city (Morris). I personally loved this section. There were trains and bussbrunning around which kept a lot of visitors excited.
What a gem! This collection of mechanical music players is outstanding! Don't miss the demonstrations. Great fun for young and old.
If you like Old music boxes and automatons, visit the Morris Museum. 2 interesting model railroads to see and interact with also.
My family went there on Thursday and the admission was free, there were many kinds of old music boxes which was very interesting and especially we liked the toy train very much. There are many buttons for the train when you press them there are many functions which we loved the most!! I recommend here to the parents who have boy children! I think you can stay 1-2 hours here for touring the whole museum.
Spent day with my daughter. I used to take her here alot when she was younger. Brought back alot of great memories. Loved the front sitting room with portraits and wing back chairs. Could sit there all day.
This is a very important part of the community. Children learn, adults enjoy the cultural opportunities.
Wonderful exhibits.
Exhibits are always changing, and many are the same. Can't get enough of a wonderful museum even my 13 and 15 year old grandsons love this place !!
Small but nice. The autotamatoms are worth the entry fee alone.
A very nice hidden treasure in Morristown!
Great way to enjoy a rainy afternoon with your granddaughter.
Great place to bring my little one. Quiet place and full of interactive exhibits.
The children's play was excellent my grandson really enjoyed it
Small but nice museum. There permanent exhibit on mechanical characters is really interesting.
Excellent venue for a wedding reception!
Mister Greek ❤❤❤❤❤love you !
Very nice small museum
Expanded and we'll thought out. Automata exhibit is great for kids and ADULTS.
The Morris Museum has been around since I was a child... The display of music boxes and automatons was absolutely spectacular... There was two large rooms of student art and photography... The steam punk hardware display was very interesting... Only two displays of steam punk fashion... Was hoping for more... One star off because the elevator to the first floor was still out of order after months... So wheel chairs can not see that display... Also the ultraviolet room in the gem area is not wheelchair accessible... The other is the model railway area is only open on the third weekend of the month... That was one of the 3 displays I came to see... I understand staffing issues, but only one weekend a month... I'm sure there are plenty of rail fans out there that would volunteer to keep it open more often.. Overall we had a good visit... We will be back again
Small but interesting. The Gruen exhibition was a pleasant surprise
The automata is nice, wish they have something in demo other than the musical. It's a big place, they could have more stuff.
Beautiful space with unique and unforgettable exhibits.
19th century automations, a bit of music history, some prehistoric exhibits, etc. Worth a visit, especially with school age kids.
This was a cute museum with interesting exhibits but a little of things were broken and messy especially the areas/activities for kids.
Great museum in general. We went to the Steam Punk exhibit. I think there is a new version starting soon. Very inventive. The New Jersey minerals exhibit is permanent and fascinating. For those who like model trains, they moved it from the basement into a larger space. They have a permanent automata and music box exhibit.
I've been going here since I was a kid, 40 years ago. They manage to keep things fresh with special exhibits and rotation.
Great museum !
Absolutely love the automata exhibit. Make sure to get there in time for the daily demonstrations at 2.
Nice spot to get out of the rain.
Go check out this place! One of the places to check out if your around Morristown! Whoever Runs the place is doing well
Super fun train exhibit. Can't wait to go back and explore further.
Wonderful family and adult combo museum and Showplace.
Beautiful, small theatre space for intimate performances.
Great place
A special place for me because we visited on all my birthdays as a child and teenager. Still amazing. Guinness Collection of automatons and musical machines is world class. You must pay this 100+ year old NJ treasure a visit!
Not your ordinary museum. Definitely worth checking out.
Wonderful must see very clean handicap accessible very good experience
Great exhibits
Great place to take the kids on a rainy day!
Good weekend spot, to explore and experience all the new and exciting exhibits.
Took the grandkids fun train exhibit. Good place to spend a couple of hours.
Steampunk exibit really excellent. Artwork from Morris County high school students blew my mind. Lots of stuff to visit and revisit.
Loved it ..beautiful muesuem..check it ou
Great indoor place for the entire family. They have great art exhibits here that are constantly changing. They also have art classes here for kids and adults hosted by laurie harden. My kids truly have developed in their art skills since taking her classes every summer and winter. The classes are super reasonable as well. Sign up fast space is limited for these classes.
Great for families and kids with rotating exhibit. Season passes if you plan to go regularly are quite affordable
Wonderful museum with great continuing ed programs
Lovely museum... Glad we went.
We enjoyed ourselves. It's a small museum so don't plan to spend too much time here.
Great special exhibits. Nice place to do/see something locally without driving into the city.
I always wanted to go here and I was happy that I did. It doesnt have the best most provocative art or displays but what it does have is enough to make me happy. It's a beautiful building and it's easy to navigate. The main gallery was a great space and I will checking back for new displays.
The train exhibits were amazing
Attended a wedding reception there - beautiful venue. Good food, cool to experience the exhibition during cocktail hour.
Absolutely beautiful place
Very interesting museum. Huge musicbox collection
We love this place, can come back every week and still have fun.
Nice place for dance/art celebration
A must see and enjoy. Fun, interactive and engaging. "Steam Punk". "Guinness musicals". "Rocks".
A lot of History and Beautiful Art pieces.
Grave for kids brought my four year old and she was neither the youngest nor the oldest there. Very family-friendly.
Love the Bickford Theater - a hidden treasure.
Beautiful place
This was a great family friendly museum in Morris County. While they have lots to offer in terms of variety, my favorite part of the museum was the automatica! They were so strange and so intriguing. I especially loved the videos of them performing whatever little movements they were designed to make.
My only complaint is I wish it was bigger. Otherwise a ton of really cool exhibits, it's also very cheap and a great place to bring a date.
PROS: Inexpensive, great location, interesting exhibits, best gem & mineral collection CONS: Broken exhibits, broken elevator My large family and I spent about 3 hours here on a Tuesday afternoon during the Passover break. As soon as we got there, the docent told us there would be a live demo (the only one of the day) where they would play some of the large music boxes in the collection. This was really not a good presentation for smaller kids, since there was a lot of talk and not so much action. However, they do have a hands-on kids' lab where you can create some punch paper music for a box. My kids and I particularly enjoyed the train exhibits. The larger train exhibit downstairs actually had buttons that controlled various features in the large and detailed model train. The gem and mineral collection is excellent, one of the best I've seen in a smaller museum. They had many large specimens that the children enjoyed touching and learning about. The only negative thing I can say about this museum is that many of the listening exhibits in the music box collection were broken. In addition, the elevator was broken, necessitating leaving our stroller downstairs whilst we perused the upstairs exhibits. There's no food here, only a few snacks for purchase in the gift shop. The gift shop had many affordable items for both children and adults. I would definitely visit this museum again.
Very nice museum for all ages. They have exhibits which are very unique and educational
Morris Museum is a Great event space for a Wedding or unique event catered by Culinary Creations
