REVIEWS OF Seacoast Science Center IN New Hampshire

Paul Duplessis

Great weather, lots of people plenty of space to explore.

scott bryer

Good food and location in downtown Tempe.

Bobby B Good

It cost to park and then it cost to get into the place. I believe that the nuclear power plant Science Center in Seabrook New Hampshire is a lot more educational. There are sea creatures that you can touch as in starfish and hermit crabs for example . They have a tank filled with live fish that came straight from the ocean. Plus it is free and there are trails that you can walk along to see what you would see at the place in Rye.

Riley McNeal

Amazing center for all ages to enjoy!

Micah Brooks

Very nice and peaceful.

Ray Boyington

This review encompasses the area around the Science Center as well. The Science Center itself is decent. It's a very small square-ish building that you can explore quickly in 30 minutes unless you actually take your time looking at everything. There is a touch tank where you can grab and feel sea urchins, clams, starfish, and other creatures in an icy water tank. There's a small play area as well, although it's more of a padded corner for toddlers to play with basic toys and maybe read. Plenty of interactive stuff for kids, and there is a tank area where you can see octopi, crabs, and fish. Not bad. The surrounding area is pretty cool too and worth exploring. The coastline is full of shell and rock hunting opportunities, and there is a fairly-large park area that kids can go to burn up energy. I frequently take the kids to the coast to explore. There is a large area dedicated to cairns as well... be careful of not disturbing any and build your own! There is a fee for the parking lot here BUT if you drive past it, there are spots to park for free if you don't mind backtracking a little bit.

Andy Pinzhoffer

Went for a music fundraising event so not a normal experience, but I still had a chance to walk around. Small but informative exhibits. Very friendly staff willing to answer all of your questions. The music event itself was a wonderful time. We brought a blanket, grabbed some food and drinks and relaxed to some instrumental music.

Doug McCartney

Very nice place. Alz ride from there has been great!

Danielle Dulchinos

Great for little ones to learn about the seacoast & seas creatures outside it's doors. Especially loved the touch tank.

Khadijah Cisse

Tiny but fun!

Ryan Kowalczyk

Very nice wedding destination great views just gorgeous

Trina Bennett

This is a nice science center for young children. It's small but has a lot of beautiful scenery, educational aspects and a play ground nearby. My daughter had a lot of fun inside and outside of the center.

Sandra Lovett

not a blind d friendly place

NotAGod -

Great building and very informative but the bike trails are even better with structures from ww2 that you can enter and climb the trails are easy too with trails allowing you to coast by the coast

Iain S

Great place for a date, the view is amazing and so much to talk about!

Molly House

What a great outing! My kids are obsessed with the ocean so this was perfect. We can't wait to participate in some of their special events.

Polly Franconeri

This was really fun on a drizzly day!

Mukta Singh

Very calm and nice long beach....did not get a chance to visit the science centre though as it got closed when we reached. But had great time sitting around the beach

Steven Tacconi

At first I was a little underwhelmed as the place is pretty small but we ended up having a good time and lots of cool things to see and learn about. The kids had fun.

SexyVelociraptorCrew

A lovely aquarium/learning center! We did admittedly end up parking in the employee parking area thanks to Google Maps's directions to this place. They have a little tide pool area for kids to put their hands in and check out the local wildlife in such tide pools, and the staff was very well-versed in the subject matter.

Roxane Boliver

Nice Science Center, held a starfish, they have fish, turtles, orchids, history stuff, a gift shop. I think it's worth seeing.

Jake B

This is a fun little aquarium/science center aimed at Young kids There's a small touch tank, a free fish tanks, jellyfish, seahorses, some small rays and sharks. They have learning activities for kids. There's also a faux lobster boat that kids can climb around on. The price of admission is a little bit steep for such a small place, but considering you're donating to a good cause, that's no big deal. My daughter had a nice time here, and hopefully learned a bit about local marine life. All in all it's a good place to spend a constructive hour or two for the youngest kids, maybe a bit longer for school aged children.

Mary Plummer

Awesome place for kids to play, large area to sit and relax, enjoy a picnic at any of the tables and enjoy the view of the ocean. Also, a special place for anyone who wants to swim.

Shirley Esterbrook

Love this place! It sits by a bluff so you have a fantastic view of the ocean. It's my favorite place to visit.

Asia McGinnis

it was really fun to explore ( please like this review )

Martha Pepek

Love this place, especially the interactive exhibits. It helps that the location is gorgeous and there's a wonderful playground and areas to picnic with beautiful vistas.

natasha kamon

Absolutely beautiful here and the science center is amazing

J Haley

Our family loves this stop. The science center is filled with sea creatures and children’s hands on activities. With plenty of informational displays and a giant whale skeleton hanging from the ceiling, the center is as entertaining as any of the larger aquariums we have been to. Plenty of beach to walk on and plays-capes make the whole area worth a visit.

jan kurtz

Nice, intimate, little museum offering something for everybody. We went there as a family, but I noticed a more formal, educational school program that seemed engaging. There were several smaller exhibits inside the museum and one interactive area for younger children as well as the obligatory gift shop. In order to get to the museum you must also pay a park entrance fee, so be prepared for a double whammy. The park itself is great, so I was fine with the overall experience!

Christina Riddle

So fun, educational and great views.

Patty Lynch

Crowded in the center but fun exploring the coast

Bruce B Allen

not overwhelming, just a great stop on the waterfront, interesting exhibits a fun stop for a family traveling along the coast with some great views

Julie Whitmore

Although I and my family enjoy odiorne, the science center falls a little short. The touch tank is great and allows people the opportunity see native sea creatures up close and personal. Several tanks show many different types of marine life. The skates and lobsters are our favorites. Our kids love the boat play area. The interactive exhibit could be more interactive. It did not grab the attention of our young children (two under 3).

Tom Scanlon

Great place. Nice people.

scott spaulding

This is a great place to visit and very well run. My daughter loves it and if it was up to her we would visit this place much more often.

James Jodoin

Good exhibits but not a lot of exhibits. Only took about an hour to go through the center. Pay to park and pay for entry so a little pricey. Kids enjoyed the sea creatures.

Marcus Stuart - Vannini

Small museum but packs a lot in and the staff are awesome and outgoing to the children. Gift shop is also reasonably priced.

Eric Maurice Levesque

Over all the center was a njce place to visit. School age kids would enjoy the hands on part of the center. Educational in teaching respect for the environment. The center lacks interactive exhibits, I have 2 active kids ands and they don't mind getting messy so for them the center was not really for them since they enjoyed exploring the rocky coast line more. Over all the facilities were nice and clean and parking was easy. The place can get busy with summer camps and school groups.

Amy Lambert

Great piece of history. Nice spot to check out wildlife.

Steven Buttrick

Great!!. loved the jelly fish under black lite

Xiangyu Zhang

Free Park after 5 pm.

John Fellian

The museum is very small. Really just three rooms, if you're being generous. The cost was too high for the couple minutes we were there, but I wrote it off as a partial donation to science. Staff were very friendly and knowledgable. I can't say they offer anything "special" that you couldn't find at any other marine-centric museum. Also be prepared to pay for parking, per person (weird). Another donation to wildlife, I guess. I'm not going to knock the museum too hard because everyone there seemed very dedicated and any opportunity to share science is great. But... if you're an avid museum go-er... you'll be disappointed.

Brandi Robinson

For the cost of parking and admission, it wasnt worth the trip. While there were some cool sea creatures, I think we made it through the while center in 30 minutes. There was also a big park, but I couldve gone to one for free.

Lucy Doherty

Great Wedding Location... just went to a Super Wedding...call for the Caterer and Band on June 22 2019... everything was phenomenal...with the ocean right there as well.

Jessica Smith

School trip. Staff was great with the kids. Weather was so so but the staff made it fun for the kids. They really seem to enjoy what they do.

Paul Leavitt

A lot of fun

Mike Whiteley

Great place a certain to take the kids

Dan Deloge

For its size, a fun little museum and reasonable price. Having the ocean there and plenty of rocks to sit and enjoy was a perk. The playset for kids was a plus. Lovely greens to fly kites. Souvenirs were affordable for even young people to purchase and remember their visit. My only issue was a few exhibits not working quite right, but that didn't detract from our visit. We'll be back.

kristin anderson

22 years "young" and still growing! Man has abused earth's oceans. Time to learn more and how to fix it, one piece of plastic at a time.

Ed Drolet

Great place for the whole family. Wonderful exhibits, and the views behind the building are awesome.

Tom Caucis

Great place to bring the kids.

Donna Sellers

Don't come here if you have a dog. The science Center is in a park and they won't let you enter even if your dog remains in the car. .

Abhishek Chatterjee

A small science center focusing on the history of Odiorne point, water creatures, and the impact of human civilization on fresh water and its inhabitants. Located next the coast in a pretty setting, great place to visit with your little ones. They love the touch tank where you can pick up water creatures.

Kerri Hults

Took the family here and they had so much fun!

David Welcker

Nice displays and activities for the children.

Steve Long

Very interesting.

Kay Comin

Very family friendly. Great experience and super informative.

ArchAngel 603

This science center has a fair bit of displays of ocean science and life. Would be great for young children.

J P Soso

Nice place bring the kids and the hang out in the surrounding state park.

Chris Hart

This was our second trip here, great little center with lots of learn and do. Try the scavenger hunt

laurel c

A fantastic little museum with all the "big museum" amenities! They have wonderful, kid-friendly installations that are still appealing to adults. Lots of hands-on activities and several programs each day. It took me about 1.5 hours to meander around, and I saw a fantastic presentation about lump fish from Sara. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Lump fish are way cooler than I imagined! As a disabled person with a service dog, I found it easy to navigate all of the rooms. Sara was very kind to pull a bench over so I could sit for her presentation. My only issue was the restroom. It was clean and spacious, but the way it's situated would be challenging with a walker or wheelchair. EDIT: after posting, I received a post from the Science Center. There's a fully accessible restroom near the entrance. Lesson learned: ask!

401kittys

I came due to a school field trip. Not too bad and had great views, along with information. Enjoyed the gift shop as well, very reasonable prices. In general not a place place but I don't think it's in my interest to go again.

mskellyn07

It's okay, was expecting something more. It is focused more on small kids.

Devon Skerritt

Such a great spot, very interactive museum, packs a lot into a modest sized space and being right on the state park, so much more to explore outside. Finally, the Smithsonian exhibit in water is timely and informative!

Bellsage Almighty

Got to see baby crab, epic.

Beth Duffney

It was very interesting what there is of it. We spent more time out looking at the ocean then anything else.

Bob Pawlusiak

Attended a Thursday evening concert. Great venue and show. Staff of the center was on hand with demonstrations of local sea life.

Effie Thurlow

Great place to take children. Exploring, learning and just having a wonderful time

Molly Hanson

The starfish were so much fun to touch.

Justin Scaduto

Fun place for little kids, but it is small. Know that you have to pay for parking as well as entrance to the center. If it's nice outside there are other things to do, but if not, you'll likely be done in an hour to two maximum. If you're lucky you'll catch some feeding events and the staff is great with the kids.

Tyler Ingram

The new exhibit from the Smithsonian was very interesting, and my four year old son always loves looking at all the sea life!

Don Franklin

Good place for kids.

Kayleigh Gales

I love going there to go to the beach. There's a lot of cool things

Jim Stevens

Great place to play with the kids. The science center is right there as well. Bring a picnic lunch because you can't get food here.

Anton Marienko

Great view! Great place

Melissa Page

Great place for the kiddos. The touch tank, the local fish displays were such a great way for kids to learn about what The Gulf of Maine holds for the local fish life.

. Melissa

Had a great day

Jim O'Brien

Great destination for the family

Mandy Blanchard

Great place! Be aware of you go there with a large group that the bathrooms are very small.

Monique Coulson

We love this place, it's location is just wonderful. The boys love the mini aquarium inside and you can't beat the playground and ocean right outside.

Jason T. Murray

Beautiful location, right on the water and a few tent locations.

Jeremy Stokes

Great exhibits. Fun place to bring the kids!

Maurotehsilva

It's a nice small museum that allows you to learn about both nature on Earth and outer space. Even though I didn't have enough time to see the planetarium I liked the Science Center either way. The staff were extremely friendly and ready to ask questions (as a matter of fact one of them invited me to see newly hatched butterflies with some already having dried wings). I like the inclusion of the nature trail to allow oneself or a group relax or take a look into nature itself (in Florida of course). There a few signs in the trails as well to tell you about some of the wildlife, vegetation, and stories that took place in the area. On the outside note the animal exhibits were nice although some of them weren't as active (which is fine). On the inside there were small text / stationary exhibits along with many animal exhibits as well (my favorites being the wall - based fish tank and the owl enclosure).

Lee Wheeler

Great spot for functions ie weddings

Patricia Dumont

A great place for indoor and outdoor fun

squirrel inthenest

Fun, beautiful scenery, great place for kids and adults alike

John Cook

Above average location but grounds needed attention due to uneven surface such as lawn areas as well as tent area.

Christina Steele

New jellyfish exhibit. They have many aquariums with different kinds of sea creatures based on depth and areas of the oceans. They have a touch pool that is super fun for they young and young at heart. Super cool interactive walk thru museum. And a really cool gift shop.

Erin Chase

Amazing this is the best one

Fred Williams

Small but fun and educational place. My 19 month old loves it. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, which always makes a visit better. They have plenty of sea creatures to see (and even touch) along with other educational activities and stations. During good weather, there are outdoor activities as well (with a great view and a good playground nearby)

Jennifer Hart

Good price to see sea life. Touch pool could have more to touch

Jim McMahon

Excellent for 3 year olds. Allow 4-5 hours to see the water exhibits with many fishes. The tidal pond at low tide with rock towers is magical.

Olivia Meek

My family loves visiting here. We've been coming since the kids were little. They're teens now and still love it.

Kellie Welch

Very nice park.

MacKenzie Rohlfing

Not a bad time. Maybe a little less to do than you'd assume for the price.

Alisgam andZees

Fun place to learn. Great place for kids and families!

Samir Shaikh

Small but fun for little kids.

Bobbi Gagne

Awesome place to learn about the life in the ocean around us. They are going great work protecting our waters!

Justin Prince

Nice place to visit with the kids. The activities and displays in the center kept us busy for a couple hours. We could have spent a couple hours outside too if the weather would have been better.

Richard Higgins

This place was amazing for kids! We went there on a whim for something random to do with our kids and it was worth the trip from Hampton beach for something different to do.

Amber Dellaria

My kids love visiting here. They offer a bunch of fish tanks to look at, a small touch tank area and a few exhibits for children to interact with. There is also a large playground and access to a rocky beach. You have to pay to park after memorial day.

hogmark1

Great learning space for kids of all ages. Visit the beach and look for the underwater forest.

Seth Goodnight

Fun for all ages.

Ian Murray

The staff is fantastic, spending time with each child to share their love of ocean creatures. Can't wait for the new exhibits to open in June!

Nicole Gregoire-Allis

Had a great time here in a field trip with my 2nd grade son.

Hawkers Burn

I really didn't care for this place. For the money you pay I don't think you get the value back. And I understand that to some degree because they probably take a lot of money and put it towards other important issues but the grounds are beautiful and just going to see that is worth it. But as far as the Seacoast Science Center I was not impressed at all.

Joe S

This place is great. If you're visiting, give it a look. Also host to a lot of great events.

Debra Hale

We were there for the concert tonight. The grounds are lovely & the Science Center exhibits have been updated since our last visit.

Jim Doyle

Fun place with friendly people. My 7 yr old loved it!

Jacob Haza

Had a great time there. The exhibits are great, the staff very knowledgeable.

Dan Holloran

Nice seacoast walk

Abhimanyu Sharma

Decent for quality time with kids but not well maintained as it should be .. good views of the ocean

Michael Roche

If you are looking solely for an aquarium, this will likely disappoint. It is very small and you could breeze in and out in minutes. The true value of Seacoast Coast Science Center is around the large number of programs its runs for children. For example, they run a weekly program called Big Fish/Little Fish, which is geared towards toddlers. This parent/child class gives the children a chance to play marine themed games, explore nature and interact with each other. They have programs for older children, geared towards conservation and science and occasionally run special programs like Night at the Museum. The staff are friendly and well informed. I regard Seacoast Science Center an invaluable resource to the community. Located by the coast, next to a playground, trail, picnic area and stony beach, it is a very popular spot with our daughter. Strongly recommend!

Nicole MacKinnon

This place is amazing for all ages. If you are going to explore the tide pools make sure you bring your water shoes. All of the staff here are great and very helpful. I will definitely be going again.

Liam the Memelord

Used to be great, but they closed off half the place, making it less interactive, because where they closed off had all the interactive 'exhibits'.

Kayla Pelloni

Educational and fun

Joe O'Sullivan

Favorite go to place with grandkids. Fun inside with touch tank etc, fun playground with oceanview, fun rocky tidal pool beach to explore.

Melisa Whithed

Nice spot for small kids and families...science and history, clean and friendly staff

Stephen Potter

School field trip. Kids had fun

Donovan King

Great museum for kids aged 1 to 12-ish, and some cool things for adults waiting on their children. Outside, a terrific place for birding and tide pooling for all ages - just be sure to take only pictures and memories. A short walk south brings you to a large playground and then a beach, while a walk north takes you on nature trails to visit the first official landing of English in New Hampshire. Don't forget the old WWII hillfort battery you pass on your way to the museum from the parking lot. My seven year old daughter turned an intended 1 hour time killing quick stop into an all day glee-fest of giggles and "wow!"s. Seven hours later, I literally had to pick her up and carry her back to the car to make it to other obligations on time.

Rich Higgins

Amazing place cant wait to go back with our kids again. Small and cute perfect day trip away from the beach!

Stephen Mckinnon

Great place to take the family. Just a heads up it does cost to park.

Keith V

The Seacoast Science center is very small compared to science museums and aquariums in the Boston area. This museum has a small room with aquarium tanks which is interesting, as well as a and a touch tank. The rest of the museum is mainly textual displays. I spent probably 45 minutes in the museum before I ran out of stuff to look at. From what I gather, they hold a lot of education programs there, which I think is great for kids and local school groups. If you look at your admission ticket as a donation to their science and education programs, then it's worth the price of admission.

Michael Varney

A nice place to spend the day with the family. Spend the day walking the ocean and then visit the science center for an up close and personal experience with the local sea life.

Alicia S

Great for my 18 month old she loved the fish tanks and just runing around

Chris Stein

Great place, informative inside displays, outside picnic area, restrooms, playgrounds, hiking trails, WWII bunkers, the coast! I love coming here

Keira Rand

Great little place wonderful staff too

MT

Beautiful place.

L Wilhousky

Great for all ages. The scenery is beautiful and the history is very rich

Becky Casey

Very small, low key aquarium. Felt like we had the place to ourselves for a while even though summer camp was going on. Good for little ones, but a bit over priced for what it is considering you pay for state park entrance as well as Science center admission. My 3 year old and 8 year old both had fun for a few hours with touch tanks. Tidal pools really only had snails ... We tend to find more at the beaches. Still a nice spot and a good cause to support, but pack a nice picnic lunch when you go, there's no food available.

Michelle Ouellette

Very nice staff clean lots to learn

Daniel Buchbinder

Great experience 4 kidz

VeVa aLiVe

We went there for a birthday party. Great time!

Christine Lester

Educational..Thanks

Jack Leuchtner

Cool little place! It's definitely geared more for children and not for adults. However, the center does help our local aquatic creatures so the price of admission is definitely worth it. Stop by the gift shop before you leave. Lots of cute little things to take home and the pricing is reasonable.

John F

Learn about the coast and other ocean wildlife. Good spot for kids.

James Fuller

very cool place, especially on toddler day

Pat Allison

Always a fun place for the kids.also it can be very fun to find sea glass and you can have picnics and thete are lots of trails.........

Addison Legh

I went to the seacoast science center as a camper for 10 years, and then became a camp counselor as well as naturalist. The dedication and passionate attitude of the staff is unprecedented. I don't know of any other group of people that care so much about their impact on the environment and the minds of others. I grew up here and it is the reason why I have a passion for the environment and education. It is such a gem for the seacoast and if you are looking for a fun place to go for the day and you love nature and sea creatures this is it! They also offer a summer camp for kids that I was a counselor for and that is a blast. Fun hiking trips, tide pooling, interesting lessons to help kids understand animals and biology. Not to mention passionate counselors that know how to have fun and help kids grow and discover new things.

Brian Dillard

Great place to bring the family, wonderful staff, and lots to do depending on what you feel like doing. There's also a nearby playground, and plenty of parking, which makes this a good place to frequent.

J M

This is a great little science center. And it is little, but a remarkable amount is packed in. They have several observation tanks to see various sea life, a couple touch tanks, restrooms, a display about the importance of water and more. There is also a vending machine and a couple photo opps outside. Also, a gift shop. So, it really does contain a lot. Admission was $10 adults and $5 for children at the time of our visit. But the volume of information and experience--did I mention the play area fishing boat for under 6s?--is worth it.

Christina Levitan

The Seacoast Science Center was one of the places we decided to visit during our vacation. Admittedly, I thought the center was much bigger than it was. However, the center is utilizing most of their space with exhibits and or historic information. There is also a rather comfortable ocean front view with nice open hallways. NOTE: This place is much less expensive to visit, let's say, the New England Aquarium. We spent a fraction of the cost to the Seacoast Science Center. Of course, this is different than the sea creatures found at the New England Aquarium but still has the same vibe. Also, may I add, there was so much more room here as opposed to the New England Aquarium. If you want to visit a center filled with ocean creatures and don't want to be within shoulder space between someone else, this is the place to go. There is also a fun interactive boating area for children. My daughter had such a fun time fishing and sorting her daily haul. There are other activities through the center for children and curious adults as well! Although, there were a couple of things that appeared to be out of service or not working correctly on our visit. The microscope appeared to have a bad connection to the monitor it was connected to and the scale appeared to be out of service. We visited during what I would call an off season. I read many reviews and I see many people complaining about the cost of parking. I believe those parking costs are only applicable between Labor day weekend to Culumbus day. So if you have never been here before and would like to visit without paying a parking fee, I would suggest visiting mid September to mid May.

Larry L.

Don't know too much about this shity place

G Whitis Wing

Loved the aquariums and excellent science displays. Touch tank hermit crabs were a hit with the kids and the gift shop had a surprisingly good selection of wonderful ocean themed books.

Tracey Miello

So beautiful and a great place for the kids to play and explore. We visit every year now.

Augie Pugs

Took my son here for the 1st time tide pools were not open at the time but we had a blast can't wait to go back again!

James C

Lovely place for a little family time. Informational and fun!

Chad Davis

Nice place to take family

Steven Sidman

Beautiful spot by the ocean. Benches and a covered pavilion outside for lunch. Inside, all sorts of exhibits, some interactive. Interesting for both adults and kids, featuring both live sea creatures and some displays. You can touch a fish! But wash your hands first. A few hundred yards from the main building is an open space with views and access to the sea. There's bathroom facilities in a separate building for this space. Ample parking.

David Lipsy

A very interesting place inside, however I go there all the time for the birding which is unbelievable throughout the grounds and shoreline of Odiorne Point.

Lissette Gonzalez

It is nice place to spend the day, you can have a picnic, do biking , hiking , or just walk by the shore , and they have a small aquarium, it is really nice place to go with family, friend or just you

M A R S

I loved learning the history there! The veiw of the ocean was great! The tanks with the aquatic life were a little dirty but it wasn't an excessive amount of dirty.

Leslie Welch

Seacoast Science Center, I give 5 stars.

gary beckett

Great fun for young and old.

DaveIn NH

The Seacoast Science Center is a hidden gem on the NH seacoast. Located in Odiorne Point State park, the Science Center is open year round, even when the park is unstaffed. My kids always enjoyed our trips. The touch tank was a favorite. After your visit, stick around and enjoy the trails through the park. It's a great way to spend an afternoon.

Ryan Harris

Its a nice place to visit if you have little kids or are adamant about local ocean life. There is a small touch tank and a few live species from local harbors as well as some history about the site itself.

Ruth Kenneway

Lohne volunteering here! Always enjoy time spent here

Sherry Cotton

Went on an owl prowl. Was very informative and staff was great. Definitely recommend having those activities in groups for families and separate groups for adults. There were a couple of younger children who were so loud that any hope of seeing or hearing an owl were squelched as soon as we started our wall.
