DESCRIPTION

Here you have the feddbacks of real people who know the services and products of Fort At No 4 (Museum) in New Hampshire.

At the present this firm has a score of 4.5 out of 5 and the score was based on 134 reviews.

As you can see the average score it has is virtually the highest, and it's based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the valuation is very reliable. If people have bothered to give their review when they are satisfied, is that it works.

As you know, we don't usually stop to put tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...

This Museum is classified in the category of Museum.

Great look back in time. Reenactments are fun for everyone. You can smell and hear the muskets a mile away. The volunteers are great "actors". Uniforms are authentic looking. Can't miss this one.

Be aware that they no longer have costumed tour guides or any demonstrations on non-special event days. We visited on a Friday afternoon and there were no presentations or tours. I was disappointed because obviously walking around empty rooms was not as engaging for my three year old son.

Rhonda Luopa

We went to the Harvest Supper which is a fund raiser for repairs needed at the Fort. The volunteers were dressed in period costumes. And were gracious & informative. A small reception was set up prior to the dinner and included lively music by 2 musicians playing several different instruments. We enjoyed it and had a good time. We hope to do it again next year.

Elizabeth Cullity

Small but interesting. Staff are well versed in the area history

Alvin Nguyen

Nice view of river. Cool to visit

Bruce Caisse

This is a wonderful living history museum of the northernmost frontier fort on the Connecticut River. They regularly have activities that bring history alive including encampments and battle reenactments from both the French and Indian War and the American War for Indelendence.

Trevor Champney

Hannah Olson

While not as updated and high production value as some, this is a lovely place for a family outing on a nice day. The staff and volunteers are helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. They periodically host living history weekends which are interactive and make the place come alive.

Fort At No 4 is less of a museum and more of a detailed recreation of the original fort. Great place to look around and see what life was like hundreds of years ago.

Fort at No 4 was interesting. The guide was full of fascinating stories and details about life on the frontier in the early 1700s.

Took 2 great grandsons for reenactment. It was wonderful and very well done. All enjoyed, but glad we brought chairs with us. Lot of walking at this museum but worth the effort to talk to local folks who man the fort.

I found the exhibits and the reenactment to be interesting and educational.

Stunning Fort! I was thoroughly impressed with the detail & effort it must have taken to erect it. It was breathtaking to experience what life must have been like for the originated inhabitants. The staff were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The relics & artifacts stored within the fort are also well-worth the visit, to name a few, Native American tools, centuries-old canoe, early western furniture. Yes, we had costumed tour guides, on a non-event day.

This a wonderful open air museum exhibiting 18th century life in New Hampshire. The replica fort has exhibits demonstrating everyday life, including cooking and homemaking, blacksmithing, textile arts, trading, and they have occasional mock battles as well.

The fort was nice the "tour guy" that would not let us be that was up our butts the whole made it suck. Would have stayed much longer is he was not a hovercraft. Would not go back as all any of us 5 remember is the guy that would not give us run to breath.

The folks at Number Four have been working hard to keep our history in place. The Fort at Number Four is dedicated to showing the many perspectives of the people of that time; European settlers and native tribes alike. They also host workshops just in case you'd like to make some 18th century item yourself.

I have done re-enactments at the fort for five years. I enjoy each visit/show. It is one of the few remaining museums from the French and Indian War. It is a stockade fort which gave protection and comfort to New England soldiers and settlers in both the French & Indian and Revolutionary Wars.

Kristin Donovan

Great way to spend a summer morning

Ingo Weise

Well worth the visit. The staff was very helpful and knew not only the history of the settlement but also the surrounding area.

The volunteers put in a lot of work but the site would do better if it was the original fort.

Disappointed to find out is that the fort is a total replacement structure. Originally located about a mile away and totally destroyed.

A fascinating peek into the first frontier with passionate guides, knowledgeable volunteers, and a wonderfully recreated structure.................yet the director a W. Baker almost ruined the experience for us. Lacking any pleasantries we saw her get in an altercation with guests who wanted to donate to the fort?!?!?!? It ended with her essentially escorting them out the door while arguing. As a self described historian her revisionist views are laced with modern politics that dragged down our enthusiasm. We will definitely return to the fort but most certainly will not be engaging with her again.

Zach Trombi

Great replica of the colonial era Fort at number 4. Lots of historical fun!

An excellent living history experience! The reenactors were engaging and knowledgeable. The view from the tower was really nice. A small but charming place.

Lovely place to visit! A complete colonial era stockade fort staffed by wonderful knowledgeable people. Nice gift shop too. Recommend going in the spring or fall when its cooler. Especially for French and Indian war buffs or New England history in general.

Fort Number 4 is an amazing place that is perfect for kids of any age. I have been going since I was quite little, and now reenact there. They put a lot of effort into constantly hosting events and re-enactments.

Zachary Welch

A relaxing place to take the Kids and wife and History buffs. And right on the other side of the trees SPORT FANATICS will love well at least Baseball and Soccer .. FOOTBALL though is lacking but. You can play that there. Grills are everywhere so food and cooking are WELCOMED

A great independent open air living history museum.

Deborah Pelletier

This is a simple, down to earth museum, but educational. Battle reenactments are well planned, rehearsed, and narrated well. Interpreters are well informed about what they are doing. Activities to be seen include fireplace cooking, camping as soldiers would have done it, trading, bookbinding, etc. The village baker has a lot of information. Some weekends include more activity than others, but something is always happening. Abenaki weekends and Native Heritage events are particularly well presented. Admission is reasonable. Events are listed on the website.

Joe J

A big hit for young families and an interesting look into the fabled past of the American Pioneer's yesteryears. Some of the activities are very interesting and informative. Check out the website for times etc.

Great example of early American History. Being at a remote Outpost with a small group of people must have been an extremely challenging evdevour. Places that you can learn from are what makes America the greatest country on the planet.
