This Museum is classified in the category of Museum.
The museum is designed for visitors to stroll through four huge exhibition galleries to discover the history of the automobile and its influence on our lives. Gallery 1 features cars from the 1890s to the 1910s, displaying one of the premium collections of horseless carriages in the world. Gallery 2 contains cars from the early tens to the 1930s. Gallery 3 covers the 1930s to early 1950s, astounding visitors with showiness of chrome and fins. Gallery 4 features the 1950s, race cars and beyond.
It was a bit pricey for the experience, especially since they didn't tell us until afterwards that the theater and a few other features were not working. The cars were really cool, and i like the historical setup. I wish there where more organization into the historical context, and precursor of the horse to the automobile. (Which maybe was part of the theater and other features that i wasn't able to see.)
One of a kind and worth the trip! Allow at least 2 hours to see this impressive collection.
Excellent collection of cars and automobiles. The staff are all really nice and welcoming.
I tagged along with my husband. I don't care too much about cars but I did find it interesting.
Fantastic place to spend the day. Plenty of history to see first hand. If you like autos and the history of them, don't miss stopping in to experience this place.
I recommend this museum next to the Truckee River in downtown Reno also know as “The Harrah Collection” because of the generous donation of automobiles on display by American businessman William F. Harrah. There are a variety of 200+ vehicles here in this wide collection that will dazzle you dating from the late 19 century throughout the 20th century. Included are John Wayne’s corvette, a DeLorean, period clothing and accessories all set in various vignettes. However, If you’re looking for more recent or current cars, such as Tesla, you won’t find any dating after the 1960s. Reasonably priced, and the museum is veteran friendly. There are Men and Women restrooms. You can go at your own pace. Free uncovered parking lot, and a gift shop is onsite.
Fun activities and great cars
Friendly and accommodating staff! There is a gift shop located inside near the entrance of the museum. Not too busy as well, maybe because I had gone early in the morning on a Monday! Very large collection of cars that date back from the late 1800s to now. You can dress up in old-fashioned clothing and take a photo with a car, awesome! The bathrooms are kept very clean. In addition to the antique collection of cars, there are also other old stuff on display like purses, clothing, and other fashion-related outfits that date back to the late 1800s!
TAKE THE TOUR. The free tour at 1:30, after the informative and somewhat entertaining film that plays every hour on the hour, leaves walking around the museum and reading placards in the Nevada dust. John spoke at length and in detail about dozens of the car models here, and he expertly narrated the story of automobile development through a compelling narrative that struck me as both well-practiced and interactive.
Love all the old cars and the way they are laid out on display.
A truly awesome array of great automobiles, including some that are "1 of 1"...the ONLY vehicle of its kind on the planet. Vehicles from the 1800s all the way to the 40s/50s SUPER well represented. The 4th gallery (of 4) had only handful of cars from the 50s/60s so that was surprising. The various street scenes representing different eras were great fun and very well done. You can even take a picture in an old car wearing period correct clothing... Cool! The amazing variety of designs, propulsion systems, and evolving car tech was just awesome to see. Cords, Duesys, Franklins, Fords, race cars, expsrimentals, famous owners and too many more to list... I loved this place. Has to be one of the top auto museums in the US. If you like cars at all, a must see!
Very nice display of cars. I'm not a car guy but was pretty impressed with display. I would recommend this to anyone who likes cool and unique cars.
I was amazed at the varieties of cars on display, from 1900's and up. Everything from the old steam powered cars to a gold plated DeLorean!
Beautiful restoration of many historical cars. Good gift shop too.
A must for a the car enthusiasts!! What a cool gem to have in Reno. Worth the time if you have it to spare. You won't be disappointed.
A great place to visit. Lots of history and great old cars. The peeps that work there are very knowledgeable and have great tid bits of information they share on some great old cars.
This place is Soo cool. There are cars from the late 1800s thru mid 1970s. The tour gives details of the cars. I totally recommend!
Way better than I thought, definitely a great place to learn and feel some history, I started to watch old car restoration videos after, don’t miss this place!
Its a great place lots of history. Good for families on a budget!
Amazing selection of Pre-1950's era cars. 4 separate very large collections of different time periods. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, even taking time to stop and explain some of the more eccentric options offered back on the day. At 14 dollars per person it's well worth an afternoon.
Staff was really helpful. I like that you can leave and come back cause your ticket is good all day. They have some REALLY cool old cars I’ve never seen before. I loved reading the blurbs about each one. I learned a lot. It’s definitely a museum and not just a bunch a cars in a warehouse like others I’ve been too. Very classy.
Great exhibit and display of cars!
Not just about seeing cars, it is the evolution of the engine and the engineers who pioneered the .modern day car
We had a great time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable! I learned a lot! There is an amazing large car collection!
Loved it! Great time in Reno, nobody there touring when BF and I went an early morning in November. So many cool cars all still pristine and plenty of knowledge to offer the wandering mind
Very nice displays and informative. Great way to spend a rainy afternoon.
Had a great time here!! I would recommend this place to every gear head out there. They have some of the most amazing cars I have ever seen. Best part was getting up close to Don "The Snake" Prudhomme's funny car, that bought back great childhood memories.
We really enjoyed this museum, and it was made even better by our tour guide John Sell (I think that's his surname). It wasn't until we got to the end that we realised how much knowledge he had shared and hadnt once referred to a book or notes or anything. I believe the tours run everyday at about 1330 and are 90 minutes long, AND they are included in the price of the ticket. Your then free to look around ar your own pace. The cars are all very interesting and kept in pristine condition. Highly recommended.
Cool place if your really into older cars. Lots of 20s and 30s cars. wish they had some newer ones though.
Really nice museum...well laid out, imaginative and informative. Nice use of clothing and other period artifacts throughout. They even appear to do some work in a garage bay area that have a few cars in it. Nice period "main street" connecting hallway with cars at the curbs... they even had a 4 cylinder Indian and sidecar and a Harley from the 30s and 40s which was a nice surprise for us as we love antique bikes. A few scooters and small gas related cars and petroliana. A nice place to spend some time!
Super huge collection of unique cars. Well worth the visit. There are some cars which you will only find here. You get to learn of how much they have changed in style and mechanics over the 100 years of their history. Loved being able to get on board the old ford. There is also a space exhibit, which was interesting too.
Great place to see some beautiful old classic cars. $12 entrance ($10 seniors, $6 children) is reasonable. You can easily spend 2 hours wandering. Some cool NASA exhibits with interactive things for kids.
Cool place with nice street setting from the 50s
Pretty cool Museum kind of small has a souvenir shop very inexpensive they have a 14 karat gold car if that is an interest it wasn't me
Super great museum a lot of cars from 1900-1950. Sad to read after the death of mister Harrah (the collector) over 1000 cars has been sold. They still have 250 left. Great for half a day visit.
Ausome collection, good maintained, friendly people , for once a museum that doesn't include modern cars.
Great place with historic marvels of cars and history. Love it.
Absolutely amazing collection of cars, loved it!
So much history. Definitely worth the trip
What a great place to explore, learn and sight see...
The best automotive museum I have been to that is very cheap for entrance. They have one of a kind cars from everywhere and every time frame. Highly recommended if you like cars.
Fantastic museum! There's a few classic cars, but this museum specializes in rare prototypes, unusual one-of-a-kinds, and cars either featured in films or owned by celebrities. I learned a lot and got to drool over John Wayne's Corvette and a gold-plated DeLorean. The prices are fair too, and you definitely get more than your money's worth. Every car has a great write-up on its significance, and you can also check out headphones to get a wonderful self-guided audio tour. Next time I go, I'd love to get the docent-led tour as well. Can't wait to go again - it looks like they have several rotating exhibits.
We thought it was great!!!We had John Sell as our guide. He was very informative and has a very pleasant voice. We're so glad that he was our guide.
Awesome place, great collection, employees are very knowledgable and friendly! Don't miss it!
A wonderful place to bring out of town guest who want to stay out of the casinos
Overall this is a great museum with a ton of cool history. Probably one of the best places to visit in Western Nevada. Everyone should check it out.
Wander through the history of the automobile. Nice galleries and well-represented information.
Went here with my boyfriend during the weekday. Got in line and there was a couple in front of us getting their tickets. Somehow the guy behind the counter took 10mins explaining to these people about the museum. The couple in front of us was trying to move out of the way to let us get our tickets but the guy just kept talking and talking. He saw us waiting in line. For some reason he was just being plain rude to us. I'm sure there's a lot of volunteers so they could care less how their customer service is! We walked out because a place like that doesn't deserve my money after being purposely ignored!! There was just no reason for that. Don't know what the guy behind the counter had against us, but I'm sure he does the same thing to other people who want to come in. I'm never ever going to this place again!
Wide range of motor vehicles on display. Some very unique and rare. There's something here for everyone. Unfortunately, I was expecting more. Come to find out part of the collection was recently sold. The museum itself feels date, perhaps its appropriate given the subject matter. All in all, I say go judge for yourself.
A must see for all auto enthusiast! Many automobiles on displa. Plan to spend at least 4 hours here.
This is a very interesting museum ! The automobiles on display are Awesomely restored and displayed great!! A good day can be spent here and the learning experience is fantastic!! Really good way to spend Your day and learn at the same time!!
One of the limited attraction in Reno which is a must to visit. We met an old man at the reception who welcomed us and told us the brief history of the museum. For an adult their fees is $12. They have plenty of antique cars with all the information and videos. They have total 4 galleries with cars of 18th & 19th century. They also have showings of NASA. Overall it was a brilliant experience. I highly recommend to visit this museum if you are in Reno.
We went too late to completely enjoy it. Allow yourself 2 to 3 hours to read all descriptions.
My husband and I loved the museum. It is huge! It is divided into 4 different time frames and they are full of phenomenal, unique, beautiful and some one of a kind vehicles. The 1960s to current I found to be the least wow-worthy and had a lot fewer vehicles but I had been walking for a few hours by that time and I was ready to be done. Otherwise sprinkled into the exhibits were vintage clothing from the same eras S the vehicles, including dresses, purses, suits and jewelry. It was a wonderful trip through history and every car lover will be in heaven when you arrive. Cant wait to take the kids and friends!
Fun for any age! Wonderful place with kind folks volunteering their time & working as well! A safe & exciting place to take the children during the holiday festive season of Hallows Eve too.
Good collection of classic cars and memorabilias.
Great place with amazing collection. If you are into the history of cars, this is the place for you! If you like new cars, maybe not the best place for you. Join the 2hour free tour, super informative. The museum is split into various zones showing different milestones of the automobile industry. Super well restored cars :) recommended!!!
Very nice. Well laid out.
Absolutely wonderful! Beautifully displayed and truly treasures of American ingenuity. A must see, in Reno, for all ages.
Great display up to late 40s.
Fantastic collection of vehicles. Would have liked to see more current years, but collection is something to see. Beautiful and well laid out. Recommend a visit if you like cars and their history.
Fun museum. Good for kids and adults alike.
Another rich man's collection, but they've got a dymaxion car and some great vehicles I've never seen elsewhere.
Amazing history here very interesting and take all the pictures you want best 12 dollars you could spend for hours of entertainment.
Free parking. Great car museum and interesting history on former owner of the collection. Great staff!
The museum has 200 cars in 4 rooms with walkways to navigate easily. The vehicles are clean and well kept. If you are in the area I highly recommend you visit.
Simply amazing!!! Great old classic cars! Worth paying the admission price!
I never heard of this place until my daughters school field trip. It was really awesome to see all of the older cars
Love this museum. Put's you in a different place in time. We go at least once or twice a year.
I'm not a car enthusiast, but still found this museum pretty interesting.
Awesome museum! We loved seeing all the cars. If you like cars, this is a must!
A remarkable collection of significant automobiles from every era. Many individual examples of unique prototypes and custom coaches.
The inventory included rate prototypes, famous owners, and I especially liked the dioramas. Nicely restored machines.
Fantastic museum! I highly recommend it.
I was awestruck at this place. Incredible collection of automobiles. Well worth the price of admission. Good value (8 tickets for $5) for the annual Car raffle.
Nice place. We had a great tour guide!
Can't wait to go again - it looks like they have several rotating exhibits.
This place was awesome they have much cool stuff. I highly recommend. You can check everything out by your self or they have a guided tour with a guy that has lots of history and information. There's definitely some cars in there that you haven't even heard of. It will take you at least a hour to a hour and a half to walk around and see it all
Amazing place. So much history and great cars. Highly recommend spending 2-4 hours while you are in Reno at the National Automobile Museum
Excellent auto museum with an extensive collection of early auto. Sadly only a remnant of the former Harrahs auto collection
One of the best museums in the country. A well laid out museum with hundreds of beautiful vehicles from the 1900-1940s. Information signs give good details on each vehicle.
If you're into cars this is a must when in Reno. Lots of cool cars and automotive accessories. The museum has 4 different galleries, spanning different era's, a theater and a research library! Access to the research library must be done by appointment with the museum directly and in advance (this is per the cashier who assisted me during my visit). The research library has many service manuals and printed automotive memorabilia.
Awesome exhibit of cool cars! Need more jeep's or just a whole jeep museum??
Cool museum. It was a good afternoon with my 8 year old son. It was the perfect size to keep his attention and not let him get bored. It was a really neat and eclectic mix of old cars and nostalgia. If you're in the area and looking for a cheap, fun afternoon, then you can't fo wrong. Ther only piece I would skip if i had top skip something would be the 26 minute movie. It was kind of lame.
Great collection, really fun to look at. My only complaint is that the modern collection was small compared to the others, but it's still good enough for a 5 star rating!
Very nice museum to visit. Very clean. A great variety of cars. Not expensive to get in.
An incredible collection of cars, covering most of the classic makes of the early days. Well worth a visit. The descriptions of the cars are also very detailed and interesting to read.
First time we've had a chance to visit the museum and so glad we did! It is truly amazing to see how it all began. It is amazing how genius men were and so exciting to see a one of one. Wow!
Very interesting collection with a bias towards vintage (pre-1930) vehicles. Some significant and one-of-a-kind historical cars. Inexpensive, clean and very nice displays.
Fantastic collection of restored cars. Worth every penny of the $12 fee.
Excellent museum. Some exceedingly rare cars. Museum also rents space for parties and has catering available after hours. Staff is friendly and ready to help.
Great museum explaining the history of the car!
Loved it! Great way to spend an afternoon.
Very nice museum. One of the best museums in the country. This place was awesome they have much cool stuff.
Fabulous! Great lessons in automobile history and society era of late 1800's through the early '70's. Great value!. Learn all about William Fisk Harrah and the automakers through the decades.
This place was AMAZING!!! Whether you're fascinated by the history or you're a car fanatic - even if you know nothing about cars and don't really like them, this place is a must see in Reno. You will have an awesome time and learn a ton, and no matter what - you will gain a newfound appreciation for the automobile industry and how much it's grown and changed in the last 100 years.
This place has some of the best cars ever built. Will visit again next time I'm in town
Cars are cool. And the RAV4 EV might be my personal favorite in the collection. I'm too young to have any sort of sentimental attachment to the vast majority of the cars there, which is a real shame.
Such a cool place!! A must see if you're in the Reno area.
This place is great! It is inexpensive and full of beautiful cars. But, the collection of sixties and seventies vehicles has dwindled to nearly none. It is still well worth the visit!
A wonderful experience! My husband and I took at trip to Reno for our anniversary and after several recommendations decided to kill some time here. We were NOT disappointed!! We spent a few hours wandering around each gallery and saw so many different and one of a kind cars! It was fabulous and informational. I have since recommended it to several people.
Terrific museum of the history of automobiles. I love how they arranged the galleries in chronological order so we can see how automobiles evolved.
This museum was a lot of fun. A lot of one of a kind cars. The movie on Mr. Harrah's life was especially interesting.
Wonderful experience for the automotive enthusiast. Excellent quality exhibits.
Amazing collection of vehicles. Nice atmosphere for an event!
If you like old cars, they have about 100
A fun place to see some old amazing cars. Had way more early 1900s cars than I anticipated. The tour went at a pretty decent pace but it's hard to cram in so much history in just over an hour. Some great classics, and makes you feel like you were sent back in time... Especially in the gold Delorean!
If you are reluctant because it's automobiles, go anyway. This place is fantastic in many ways. Take a stroll down streets reminiscent of the 30s and 4os. Old tme building fronts and dress up photos in a old classic car. It's a very fun experience.
Reno's best attraction. We spent several hours here looking and reading. Not necessarily a car enthusiast but this place is very interesting. There is history, stories and a huge amount of photo opportunities. The cost of entrance is well worth it. If you come to Reno and not stop then you did yourself an injustice.
Very nice Automobile Museum, owned by Bill Harrah. I love the 24 kt gold plated DeLorean made for Harrah.
Best museum I ever been to check these pic
Very awsome museum
Great selection of classic and custom vehicles. Great place to visit!
Great, the automobiles were amazing. Such great condition, looks brand new.
Very nice museum. Took us a couple hours to walk through. Still didn't have time to see it all. Very impressive.
Great museum. Tour guide was excellent!. The movie is kinda lame so pass on that. Worth the trip
Great collection of period cars in memorable settings.
Nice collection of classic cars. Didn't have many modern vehicles. Don't expect much from the 1960s and beyond. Still a good way to spend an hour or two.
Great place to visit while in Reno, our tour guide was very knowledgeable on these awesome autos, what history.
Nicely displayed cars and memorabilia.
Great collection spanning all eras of automobile history.
Awesome collection of cars!! The whole place was spotless wow..I Love cars and had to talk my sis into taking me..guess she enjoyed it after she seen a car she used to have..lol..They have almost every classic car you could imagine and then some...Definitely go here if you go to Reno.. I will go back every time I am there!!
One awesome place! A must see for sure.
Great place filled with priceless vintage collection. This is Reno heart's Collection of historical automobiles. For every lover of cars in Nevada, Reno knows this is one place you shouldn't leave without visiting. Great place, great people. I love this this town.
The museum was really well laid out and the cars were restored to perfection. The place was really clean. In
The hole overall set upset of the gallery was just incredible. Work and time put 5 on top of that everything labelled Plus science 3D gaming. Sciences , old school education
This is a wonderful place of nostalgia. You can see cars from the 19 hundreds all the way to 1970s. The museum is clean and well kept and signs giving you history on each vehicle and what it sold for when it was new we really enjoyed our visit to the museum.
This is a must see if you are married to a automotive nut or are just a history buff. But actually I loved it as well. Had lots of previously owned cars used in movies or those of well known Hollywood Stars or Celebs. Very well done, excellent exhibit flow and history about period pieces. Seating for short breaks from walking, lots of display photo ops, even costumes to really get the feel of back then. Good value and history lesson.
Excellent exhibits, well done, lots of examples, especially of the earliest cars ever made.
Really neat place! Nice quiet atmosphere, and super rare Cars!
First time and I received very excellent service up front. Looking back the first cars from the 1900 was amazing and learn so much. I recommend this place if your visiting Reno and worth the prize.
Very interesting experience if your looking to look at cars and their histories.
Really cool museum. Gave us student discounts even though there wasn't one listed. Nice people. Museum was less about the history of cars and more just about this guys collection of rare and interesting cars. Would have enjoyed some more standard cars of each era for a comparison. But all the same, this is probably the most interesting place in Reno I've been.
Very nice collection of car from the 1890's to the 1960's.
NAM is amazing! Volunteers do a wonderful job! And just overall an amazing experience! The best was the Ferrari swapped Jeep with functional 4x4. Would 10/10 recommend. If you're visiting or live here in Reno you have to go check it out!
Incredible variety of classical display of cars. Many more show case to see. So be prepared to explore 4 building. For some people It will take 3 to 4hrs to walk it all. This include reading posters and watching historical video. It does has store inside & knowledgeable friendly staff.
Great presentation of automotive history.
Awesome selection of cars! There is a lot of history in this museum. No car museum is complete without an Edsel!
Fun place with some really unique autos. My son and I had a great time.
Excellent tour, great selection of vintage cars.
This place is totally awesome. It's highly interactive and immersive, with a chronological layout dating from the 1800s to early 90s, and every section having its own theme and decorations. There are even various areas having to do with space exploration, with rover simulations kids would definitely have fun at. I'm not a "car" person by any stretch, but I had a lot of fun at this place! There are plenty of horns to beep, signs to read, and videos to watch, so it's a great place for a family outing.
Wonderful collection, most rude and impatient employees of any business I know of. Asked to leave the museum ten minutes before their closing time. Not knowledgeable, or respectful. Unless you're dying to see a collection of pre-1950 vehicles, save your money and time.
Had a great time at the museum. One of the most well organized and stocked automotive museums I've been to. They have a great collection of hot rods everything from the 70's through the 80's the real meaty badass stuff. It's definitely well worth stopping in. Very affordable.
Great cars, history, very nice helpful people. Definitely ba place to go if you love cars!
Lots of memories came back to us seeing these auto mobiles very fun.
Nice place. Good for the family.
Very nice display, only wish there were more muscle era cars.
Take the guided tour . You won't be disappointed.
The variety of cars that I saw was spectacular.the little blurbs written to go with each car makes it so much more interesting and ties you into history. This alone is the best reason to go and visit Reno.
Really enjoyed the entire experience but wished the food choices were expanded because it takes a lot of time to review the entire collection of classics and historic vehicles.
I could Easley spend all day wandering around this place and never be bored, great selection
Hidden little gem worth visiting!
It was a very nice auto museum,it was easy to navigate, the temperature was comfortable, there's a nice rest area with tables and a soda machine. The cars on display were a well rounded make up from the early 1900's to the late 1960's.
Loved it! Very large collection of a wide range of autos! Even had a 1960 Corvair!
Great place beautiful cars and we had a great guy. There was well worth it
Great place to see, staff were wonderful. Check out the tucker what a car.
Large and fascinating collection of classic cars.
