REVIEWS OF National Atomic Testing Museum IN Nevada

Aaron Krygier

Awesome place, reasonably priced, incredible amount of real footage , sight, and sound of the era, both within the scientific element but also the paranoia and fear. The catalog of what happened to the mannequins in the testing area was...fascinating. A must for histroy buffs, fans of Fallout games, or anything in between!

Andrew Garcia

it's a really cool look into the nuclear test Site in Nevada.

Hope Cash

Lots of great history. Glad we took the time on our trip to Vegas to check it out.

David Conlon

Very interesting. A lot of history there. Was surprised to see the I-beam from one of the twin towers disaster and actual piece of the Berlin Wall.

Donna J

This is so interesting. Was there for a few hours and learned so much. Also depressing that we felt the need to use it

Mark Nierwetberg

The place to be for history and Cold War nerds. Take a look, that technology shaped a good part of the 20th century... crazy stuff there. I liked it.

Timothy Mok

Great museum documenting the history of atomic testing. If you plan on reading each and every panel, you will need approximately 2 hours. Be aware that the "ground zero" presentation can scare the little ones. Definitely recommend this museum to anyone interested in cold war history and science/technology.

Stan Garrett

Nice to see things that I use to work with. Nice place to visit.

John Henderson

I am extremely pleased with my visit to the Atomic Testing Museum! We got the chance to speak with the volunteer, Dick, at the beginning of the tour, He was an absolute delight to talk to! Dick was there during the Atomic testings from 1964 on, and has a brain full of knowledge that he loves to pass on. The museum is well laid out and an absolute must-see!

braum denton

Very well-done museum. Lost of interesting exhibits regarding nuclear weapon development, testing, and research. I found it fascinating. if you are the least bit interested in Nuclear history or Nevada state history, then I highly recommend this museum. Very well done.

Robert Sabath

Everything about the testing of the bombs, but nothing about the dangers, the remnants and the results of radioactive material. Very patriotic, shows clearly what the times were like.

Kathy Hamner

Fantastic place. Takes a long time to go through.

Andy E

Very informative about creation, arms race, testing sites, why testing was limited and the effects of nuclear arms. You could Google all this information but it's all right there in one place, nothing beats seeing it person. Equipment used, quirky nuclear themed items which made me think of fallout.

Sean Dyer

A nice little Museum, definitely worth the Groupon price and taking time out to visit. There is tremendous value and chatting with the volunteers and older fellows who work here, and have direct experience all things Atomic Testing. Start up a conversation, they're easy to talk to, and you'll learn more then just reading the signs.

Roberta Schuelke

Well done and very interesting. Give yourself at 1 1/2 hours and don't miss the theater that puts you right there at the test site.

shawn dpenha

Informative and educational, it was great to read about the role Nevada played in the development of Atomic weapons. Lots of very interesting exhibits. Plan on spending a couple of hours here.

Lizzy N.

This is one of the coolest museums I've been to. The exhibits are informative and creatively designed, and everyone was friendly and helpful. There is an atomic test simulator where you can sit in a replica of a test bunker and experience how the original tests felt/looked/sounded. I highly recommend this museum to anyone looking for some unique Las Vegas history.

Gage Dupuy

This place was so fascinating. So much history in a top of the line facility. A Vegas must stop!

Michael Harvey

Great museum, with quality artifacts and information about the Nevada test site. The only thing I'd maybe add is some general information about the arms race of the 50s and 60s.

RENAE LORDS

Very cool place to visit. Interesting information about the atomic testing done in the Nevada desert!

Tom Hoogkamer

Last century kind of museum, but still interesting.

Laura Barr

This was the third time I have been here and decided to bring my BF this time. I was happy to see they added on so much more since I was last there. My favorite part though is still the interactive bomb drop simulation. Second to that is the detailed explanation as to why storing nuclear waste (and remember it's not even like vats of uranium or anything, JUST contaminated items!) at Yucca Mountain is a safe choice that makes sense geologically. However, if reading is not one of your favorite things to do, this is not the place for you. It does involve a couple of hours to see and read every bit of this place. There is a lot of awesome information and what seems like endless visuals but to fully grasp it all, reading is an absolute must.

Peter Aylett

A quirky but very interesting museum. If you are a nuclear geek, go visit

Matthew Bucher

I always have a blast(ha) at this place. It's very well done, and they frequently have interesting guest lecturers.

Debra Maltman

Awesome place and pet friendly brought my cat in so I didn't have to rush

John Boyrazian

Had a great time here. Learned so much about the history of atomic weapons and the cold war

Sean Riordan

This place was quite simply astounding! Well designed flow though the sections, and amazing content.

Vickie Kaczmarek

I can't wait to work this in on my next trip!

Jon Winder

If you're a fan of nuclear history, this is a must stop. Lots of info on a variety of subjects pertaining to the development and testing of atomic weapons. They have seminars as well.

Thomas Jones

Nice idea but execution is a bit "world's largest ball of twine". Very nice gift shop, though.

hightop9000

The place is pretty big and has a lot of cool things to look at and explore. If you are interested in atomic history you will love this place. The prices are fair for the experience and the bathrooms are wheelchair accessible and very nice.

Larry Watson

Much to see. Larger than it looks. I enjoyed my visit

Erica Hunsberger

Awesome museum! I learned a lot and especially enjoyed the timeline that included pop culture and current events alongside with the history of atomic testing.

Poisoned Llemon

The National Atomic Testing Museum was a experience indeed. Expect to stay a few hours, there is a lot to watch, read, and do in this Museum. It was very cool to read about the history and just how powerful these nuclear weapons are.

Cody Koeppen

The National Atomic Testing Museum was very interesting and educational. I'm really glad we stopped by. The price was fair and there was a lot to see inside. It's also worth mentioning the museum is affiliated with the Smithsonian, so you're really getting a quality experience. The museum is located a quick ride (or a slightly longer walk) from The Strip, so it's easy to find. I was kind of surprised how many people were visiting, but the museum wasn't "busy" by any means. In fact, this a great option if you'd like to get away from the busy city crowds for a while. Definitely stop by if you get the chance.

Peter T

Interesting timeline of nuclear testing with many artifacts. The main US test site was just north of Las Vegas and the nuclear mushrooms could be seen from the strip as kind of entertainment - the location of the museum in Las Vegas feels appropriate. We went there with out two boys of ten and thirteen years, and it was fun for my wife and me and OK for the boys, especially when we could add some family history and science to the exhibition, "when grandpas and grandmas were living" and so on.

Charlemagne139

Awesome exhibits and videos. Learned a lot. Makes me wanna play Fallout.

Ryan Caswell

Pro-tip: buy your tickets on Groupon! My spouse and I enjoyed the museum over all, but more than one of the displays was broken, and it was pretty small and crowded. We would have been bummed, had we paid full price.

Olga I

Good place, very informative. If you're a student, the price will be cheaper for you.

tyler Stroud

One of the best things I did in Vegas! Doesn’t cost a lot and is super interesting!

Umberto Fournier

This museum is so cool! it provides a very in-depth explanation of the history of the United States Atomic power program and its relation to the state of Nevada. They have lots of cool artifacts from history including parts from nuclear powered rockets as well as some samples of very small nuclear warheads (not active of course). there's a lot of cool maps from the testing site, the design of the testing systems, the location of where the tests occurred, how they affected Nevada, etc. It really was an awesome experience. If you have any sort of interests in the history of Atomic Testing for the United States you should see this Museum.

Michael Heaton

Very informative and worth a visit.

Nick Denissen

Nicely organized chronologically. Small enough to see everything in about 2 hours.

Kath Moore

Great museum, Smithsonian branch, easy access, free parking, exhibits well displayed. The organizers have done an excellent job here.

Chela p

It was a very interesting museum. My sister was able to do a little research and she found a good deal through Groupon, two for the price of one. It definitely shows you where they did all the testing in Vegas, which if you think about it kind of creepy lol. I mean people come down here to party, get wasted, gamble and just to think in this same state they did nuclear testing lmao yeah. Think about it!! What I thought was really cool was a timeline of thing going around in the world at the same time they we doing these tests. They did have a small section of when the bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki but not to much. I was hoping they would have more information on this. What I did find very interesting is that the Native Indians that occupied those lands in the now NTS (Nevada Testing Site) since the beginning of time were forced to move off their lands. I think it's worth a stop, we will definitely keep looking into this little museum they are trying to raise funds to do something for a 911 memorial.

Zan R

Interesting, educational and definitely worth the visit. Definitely do the tour

Craig King

I never knew this was here. We visited as part of a Boy Scout event and it was amazing. Quality exhibits. Super educational. Lots of great videos, photos, and much more. Worth the time.

Phil Allen

Very informative and lots of displays containing the actual instrumentation used in early tests.

Jewel Patterson

It was very kool!! Had such a great time viewing all of the exhibits.

Randall Hayter

Lots of interesting exhibits here and well worth the trip off the strip if you are interested in cold war history. It tends to glorify nuclear weapons, but that's to be expected, given their mission. I wouldn't recommend walking from the strip - the distance isn't bad, but the heat can make the walk seem much longer than it really is.

Volkher Kassner

Everybody interested in the history of nuclear weapon testing should attend and spend a coupl of hours in that museum. It is an unique experience and a real eye opener. From mostly untested doomsday weapons to the struggle to keep the arsenal controlled and active. If you ever wondered what nuclear fission is and how it works, here you can find easy to understand answers that do not require you to be a rocket scientist - or to study the harmonies of music theory ;)

Gary Sallee

Great way to spend day learning historical info.

Itai Dagan

One of the best museums I've visited in my life. The timeline for when and why the tests started, what they entailed, how they progressed over the years, the people working there, the equipment they used, how nuclear weapons were perceived in the public eye and in pop culture, this museum has it all. My only recommendation - skip over the parts that interest you less, because if you read every single plaque - you're going to run out of energy before you reach the end of the museum, and that's a shame. Go there, enjoy it, a treat for anyone who's interested in nuclear energy, weapons and worldwide diplomacy.

Kim

Pretty cool. I've been wanting to go for awhile.

John Piccini

Very interesting. This was far more impressive than I imagined

Lawrence Tan

The best stop we made during our trip here. They are Smithsonian affiliated, so don't forget to bring your membership card. Also, the wristbands are good for 25 % off of the Mob Museum admission. Please "like" if this review has been helpful to you.

Mike Pawlak

Pretty cool if you're interested in this sort of thing. They have a full size model of a nuclear rocket engines on display.

Mark Steele

Super fun and interesting. Kept us engaged throughout. Well put together. Took us about three hours to go through, but could easily take more..or less. Would have liked to see more history of casinos intertwined. But just splitting hairs. If looking for something reasonable to do off strip...this is it. Thanks!!!

Matthew Staley

It was neat to learn this stuff. Go at your own pace.

Mark Ames

Extremely unique museum about a really unique and terrifying subject. Museum is immaculate and very, very well done. Fascinating if you have any interest in this part of history and the inevitable destruction of mankind. Worth every penny.

Ben B

I was thinking the may be more peaceful use but i get the nearest testing range wasnt focused on that

Donna Roddy-Petersen

We had fun! We spent 3 hours and read everything.

James C Taylor

Went to the National Atomic Testing Museum while on a family trip to Grand Canyon and Zion National. This is a very well done museum featuring many exhibits and artifacts of the time period. Highly recommended to those interested in this portion of our world's history. The Ground Zero Theater screens a well-balanced film on the topics related to atomic testing and its effects on people & geo-politics.

anthropological

I had a great time! The tour guides who are actual Department of Energy veterans, were VERY helpful and generous with sharing their experiences. I would certainly recommend it!

Aaron Moreno

A national museum of all you wanted to know about the atomic testing programs conducted by our government (minus any classified information I suppose) from its beginning to the end of actual blast testing. I also got an understanding of the U.S. patriotism involved. I was impressed to learn about the steps taken to assure the safety of Americans and the world and the promotion of world peace after years of collecting data about the destructive potential. You decide the depth of your experience; there are detailed accounts, exhibits, artifacts, descriptions and short films. An amazing scientific experience.

Rene Paz

Great museum that is fun and interactive. I'm not sure if their is a guided tour but really no need for one. As you walk along their is information everywhere that starts from how they decided on the testing site and up until the time they stopped testing. They have a few areas to sit and watch short interviews with the people who worked their. Also the price isn't bad and they offer military discount.

Casey Timmerman

Very informative with multiple exhibits. Information is understandable. There is even a theater to experience an atomic blast!

Colt Miller

Amazing museum. Great piece of history that is truly astounding.

Carrie Groneman

I've lived in Henderson, Nv for over 15 years but was unaware of this museum. My two daughters visited from Missouri and wanted to go. I'm so very glad I did! Full of national as well as Nevada history and artifacts from time periods ranging from the 1920s to present day. Wonderful museum and well worth the

Justin Kunst

That was fun. Very informative and lots of exhibits. Really enjoyed all the models and movies they had throughout the tour.

Mike S

Interesting exhibits but overpriced for what is there.

Raven Lee-Prange

This place was filled with interesting stories, exhibits, objects from the testing sites. A lot of detailed history. Probably a once and done museum, but a must do

Tycho Aussie

A small, but interesting museum. It is a nice compliment to the Ray Bradbury nuclear museum in Los Alamos, NM. This one focused on the history of the test site and has some insights into the test technique and some of the goals of the tests. Insightful, without being too preachy.

Josh Jonte

Very interesting and informative if a bit dry, with a fairly high admission price at the door ($22 each for adults). Also the 'atomic theater' experience was fun with the exception of... well, there were several individuals interviewed in the film that seemed to express the opinion that all the issues with the testing they performed was entirely beneficial and that any literal or figurative fallout from surrounding resident exposure was 'totally worth the cost and if I had the opportunity I would do it all over again'. This somewhat problematic viewpoint is subtly presented as heroic in the film with the only vaguely dissenting opinion on the matter summed up in all of 10 seconds of screen time given to a university professor. Still overall and interesting and informative experience.

Pierre-André Chassang

The other side of Vegas. Very interesting, complete and cheap. Change from the casino and shopping.

ben l

Interesting... You have to love this science stuff. Not for everyone.

Michael Claypool

A must see, to absorb in everything count on at least 3 hours. Seeing things I remember but also a lot I was not aware of - EXCELLENT!

Surya Jhajhria

good place to spend some afternoon hours with kids. specifically if the kids are interested in science. the museum has lot of very interactive exhibits about the history of atomic energy and bomb development and testing.

Shahbaz Shah

This museum is crazy informative. It very much self guided and had lots of videos you could watch as well as a significant amount of information to read. I could have spent an entire day here and still missed some things.

Cheri Lenhert

Such interesting history. Having lived in the state of NM where they are a part of this as well just was so great to walk through this history in this museum. It is layed out well with the different time periods in our history. The gift shop really was well done with so many types of tshirts for example along with other nice gift items. Everyone that worked there were so nice and helpful.

Rabbi Maya Leibovich

Fascinating, educating museum which tells the history of the development of nuclear power. In my point of view there is one chapter missing and this is about the casualties during these tests and whether the Government compensated them or their families

James Foss

A brilliant way to while away the afternoon, I loved the simulator and all the information to read. It is a bit heavy on the reading but very enjoyable

Kevin Brown

We took some friends from Arizona to see our Museum because he worked for two decades as an engineer for the military. What a surprise when we saw a tatical nuke he worked on. He is now signing up to be a contributor. He told us the museum info is 100% authentic and correct. If it impressed someone who worked there it will impress you. You can sign up for the testing grounds trip when you visit our museum..

Sarah Scarr

It’s pro-nuclear, racist propaganda. I was pretty surprised by the lack of contextualization or critical consideration of this part of American history. A big disappointment. The bits of the Berlin Wall and the World Trade Center were confusing additions. I felt uncomfortable having paid money to this museum.

Mat Winegarden

If you want to get a great history lesson of atomic Vegas, this is the place to go!

Christopher Burns

I never knew Navada played such a great role in atomic testing. The museum is a true monument to the men and women who worked so hard to keep us safe.

Andrew Zahrndt

Lots of fun displays and very educational. I particularly liked the detonation simulation

Tyson Appel

A quick look at our nation's atomic testing history.

Thomas Dodd

Not as much detailed information as I would have liked, but still learned a good bit, and had fun talking to some old test site staff.

Randall East

Learned a lot of information I was not aware of! Really enjoyed my visit.

Scott Isaac

I don't think it's of common knowledge just how fundamentally atomic power changed everything. And also how brave and ingenious the scientists and engineers were when studying atomic power. The tour was a real eye opener and it was great that they allow photos throughout. No videos but I think that's fair.

Donghyun Woo

The single narrative inside the museum strongly endorses the necessity of the US nuclear capabilities against the world.

Matt Yeastedt

The self guided tour took almost 2 hrs to complete. A lot of artifacts and photos with descriptions to explain the history and detail around the testing. It's a good glimpse into our past history which ended ww2 and got us out of the cold war.

Peter Cha

Good science and history behind nukes. Worth a visit if you care about nukes.

Liz Polk

Super cool displays and info. Enjoyed this visit to the museum. The Smithsonian always presents info so well!

Deidre Westover

It's mainly a whole bunch of small text on the wall, and no real mention of the dire consequences of actually using nuclear bombs. It's all a bunch of We Did It For Freedom stuff. They have a very old man who was a researcher who just wanders around the place. There is some weird random stuff about aliens, and a room full of old video game consoles and phones and such. The blast simulator was kinda cool, but overall I wasn't that impressed.

Anne Snudden

Interesting but one sided view of atomic energy. Hiroshima and Nagasaki mentioned briefly with very little discussion of the terrible price paid by Japanese civilians, nor the years long aftermath of radiation poisoning. No alternatives to the "peace through strength" hypothesis. I would like to hear more from the atomic test personnel, soldiers and their families who were radiated, and who suffered painful aftereffects or death-----did they think it was all worth it? The museum could at least respectfully acknowledge the other side.

Elise Anne

This Museum was quite informative and extensive. The staff was friendly and the exhibits were detailed and well thought-out. The movie playing in the theatre exhibit was definitely pushing an agenda, but otherwise, it was a great time.

vincent

Great place but prepare yourself to read a lot. Not worth spending a day there.

Carina K

This place is very educational. I learned a lot that I did not know. The machines on display are intriguing and you get to walk through an actual tunnel they used when testing. My favorite display is the one that shows a number of atomic-themed toys and food items.

Lillian Kruzsely

I cannot recommend this Museum enough. Natalie (curator) is amazing. The museum welcomes volunteers from the test site and they talk to the visitors about their experiences. This is a must stop for your trip to Las Vegas. Researchers are welcome :)

Eric Polk

Fascinating and well done look at the history of nuclear weapon testing by the U.S., mostly focused on the Nevada Test Site north of Las Vegas. There are many historical artifacts and video interviews with former workers at the test site. Many of the exhibits also present the historic, political, and cultural context around nuclear weapons and testing. The awesome and terrifying power of these weapons is on full display here and is acknowledged by all those who are seen in the interviews. The only thing that is lacking that there are a small number of exhibits that briefly mention some of the negative effects and consequences of nuclear testing but this is mostly downplayed in favor of the value of maintaining a safe, functional nuclear deterrent.

Jim James

This was very nice excursion if you want to take a couple hours away from the casinos and noise of Las Vegas. The museum was laid out well, the staff were friendly and helpful, and there was plenty of interesting stuff to look at. Some of the history of the test site, how the tests were performed, and the correspondence related to the testing and development of atomic weapons was all new info for me. You can get a taxi from your hotel easy enough, but plan on using Uber or Lyft to get back.

Stephen J. Lautenschlager

The National Atomic Testing Museum (NATM) is a national science, history and educational institution that tells the story of America’s nuclear weapons testing program at the Nevada Test Site. The Museum uses lessons of the past and present to better understand the extent and effect of nuclear testing on worldwide nuclear deterrence and geo-political history. It provides collection-based exhibits and learning activities for greater public understanding and appreciation of the world in which we live. Its collections and activities are inseparably linked to serve a diverse public of varied ages, backgrounds and knowledge.

David Asche

A fascinating look at our atomic ambitions. I was amazed at the number of test set off. The display on civilian uses for atomic bombs was interesting and filled with really bad ideas. Skip the add on for the Area 51 display. It’s a quickie thrown together are they real or not display with no real information.

Kimberly Anlage

Interesting museum. Takes you throught the history of the testing site and what they accomplished. Very interesting points of interest and artifacts.

Lydia perez

Lost to learn, especially the theater room. You re live an Atomic explosion with all of the special effects. Worth the fee.

Rusty Thomason

I love this place I'm going to go back a couple more times before I quit going there

Derek Butt

Very kewl for history buffs ... displays are static wiyh as lot of reading. I would not recommend it for younger children. The topic could be scary for some.

Jonathan Stafford

Many videos of nuclear explosions and nuclear testing. The numerous displays and exhibits effectively explain the progression of nuclear testing and the surrounding cultural and political climate. It is way more interesting than I make it sound, I promise. Recommend allotting two hours or so if you intent to read most of the displays.

Gary Mackelprang

A fascinating excursion into the past. Important artifacts are effectively displayed to provide visitors with a good contextual feel for the time and t he circumstances of America's development and testing of nuclear weapons. It's walking distance from the strip and offers a thoughtful, interesting couple of hours. I recommend it.

Jessie Becker

Great museum. Tons to see and learn!

ladiimj93

So much information about atomic bombs, couple short films. If you like history you’ll love this.

Mike McCowen

Unique perspective of a little known aspect of US history. A Smithsonian affiliate, so very well done. Expect to spend a couple hours to absorb all the info.

Donni Rincon

Very interesting and educational. The guides were very knowledgeable and wonderful stories they told as they were part of Atomic Testing workers of the past.

Taire Hanshaw

Absolutely worth the visit. So much amazing history!

Pedro

A part of Vegas history is the area's role in nuclear weapons testing. Museum is great but small, with videos, scale models and historical artifacts in various interactive displays. Staff was friendly and informative. Place can be easily missed though, we drove by it once following our gps. It shares a building with the Desert Research Institute(DRI). If you like history, its a good afternoon activity away from the casinos. Tickets may be available at discounts on Groupon.

KatieGarden

So much interesting information in 1 small museum. Make sure not to skip out on the 10 min movie, and get a seat a few min early. If you are in the area, take the time to check this place out. It is a hidden gem. ********************************************* If you like this review, please give it a thumbs up. comment and follow me for more epic reviews. Happy Adventuring ; )

Agustin Limon

Atomic Testing Museum was very informative, lots of articles, old testing equipment, items long forgotten about nuclear test sites. There is a piece the actual steel beam from the World Trade Center. There are several things i was disappointed with. Its a small museum, and the cost in my opinion is too much for what you see. But all in all check it out, cost is 22 dollars.

Rusty Salmon

Lots of interesting exhibits BUT so much of their signage is miniscule! Virtually unreadable for many, and I'm sure it must be important info or why would they have bothered to make the sign in the first place? They really need to address that if they want visitors to get the most out of the displays. The pictures and history of the testing was fantastic! We really enjoyed the various videos, too.

C Ranee

Such a thorough and interesting history. I really enjoyed the displays that ranges from the military side to how the general public was prepared for a nuclear attack. Took about an hour to see it all, but one could easily stay longer.

Leslie Musiak

Interesting history of the evolution of our nuclear program. Don't miss the Ground Zero theater.

Emily Shaw

Harder for the younger kids. Lots of reading. Some interactive.

Whitney Steele

Great experience!!! Passed on tons of knowledge to friends and family!

emily z

Small museum but pretty interesting stuff considering the scope - I kinda wish they showed more correspondence and stuff relating to the scientists themselves but the museum focused more on the atomic testing site obviously. The scrollable high speed camera video was very cool and I liked that they had some very cool displays with decommissioned stuff.

Vicman 41

If you are not into all the distractions on the strip and are facinated with history, this is a perfect way to spend a few hours while in Vegas. My son and I didn't want to go shopping or gamble while waiting for our flight and found this Jewel of a museum. Not only were the exhibits interesting, the other visitors had gripping tales about the time period all this was taking place. You will enjoy it. Go!

Jeffrey Rosenthal

A delightful romp through the history of the American nuclear program. Enough material and detail to satisfy nuclear history buffs, accessible enough for youth, probably. There were a number of typos and continuity issues, but the museum is ultimately fantastic. Though one would hope for better curatorial oversight with Smithsonian funding on the table

UAV HD

It is a awesome place to visit! Very historical and it was a great preview before going to the Nevada Test Site!

Shelly Shanklin

Very informative. Now I know where my tax dollars are going. If got AAA get a discount for ticket.

Kevin Schmidt

Great museum if you are interested in learning about the United States’ nuclear testing history.

Christine Blair

Very informative. Be sure to chat with the volunteer staff. They have many interesting stories to share as well as point you to items you may have other wise missed at the museum.

Nicholas Buck

Absolutely fantastic visit. It was great to go and see something besides all of the craziness in Vegas. So much information and great displays. The museum take about two hours to go through when you stop and take in all of the exhibits. I would highly recommend stopping in and visiting this museum. Also look for a Groupon, we received a good deal when we bought our Groupon.

Esther Spencer

This is a small, well laid-out, educational museum. There are sections about area 51, the first nuclear tests, memorabilia, and nuclear waste responsibility. One of the coolest features is a simulated test in the middle of the museum, complete with countdown, blast of wind and a loud boom (might startle young children). Lots of little interactive bits, and very friendly staff. I was disappointed that there wasn't much discussion on the affect of the atom bombs. The museum did a good job of addressing controversies over nuclear testing, and the land used for the test site, so it was a little surprising that the actual use of nuclear weapons was hardly addressed (one small placque that says the weapons were used on a suitable military target). History is hard, but the better we get at addressing controversial pieces of our national history the better we will be. Overall, it's a cute museum (if a little pricey), and worth a visit for families and individuals.

Jeffrey Tobin

Interesting collection and informative write-ups throughout the museum. Location is about 30 minute walk from most of the main places on the strip. Not the most scenic walk, but wasn't awful, definitely see more of the interesting locals that you don't see on the strip much.

Larry Bannerman

The place is awesome for science buffs. Not so much so for the human tragedy of civilians killed by nuclear weapons. If you want to see how amazing it was for scientists to unite for this creation this is the right place. But 90% of those same scientists objected to its use against civilians while military targets were on the list. Please visit when you are in Vegas. Just know this is history tilted one way.

MA C

Loved listening to Jack's stories. Really Great place to visit and learn.

Kyle Henshaw

Very informative, non profit organization set for education.

E T

We had a good time here. This museum was filled with various photos, videos and details about the history of the Atomic Nuclear testings here in this state. There was an Atomic testing bunker theatre too, which simulates the experience being at an Atomic testing site. It runs every 15 minutes. I liked the little gift shop, and would highly recommend buying a drink or two that they have in their fridge. They all have very interesting names/design. I bought a Radioactive Soda (Mulberry flavour), and the cap has an interesting message under it!

Julie Schetley

It was a cool museum. My husband was more interested than I was. Staff was awesome and very polite and had lots of information to share about the area.

Craig McCreath

Real interesting museum highlighting the history of testing in the area and the impact it’s had on health to world affairs. Eve @ the gift shop was a terrific host, helped me find what I needed and was a wonder to talk to!

Giada Beccari

Interesting museum of the Atomic Tests. I strongly recommend to purchase the ticket on Groupon, the full price admission is too much for what offers.

Chelle Sandland-Moreira

If you only do one museum in Vegas, do this one! It's sobering to see all it has to offer. It was so enthralling I forgot to take photos until the very end!

peter labak

This is a very nice museum to illustrate history of nuclear testing. We were there in 2016 and the museum staff was really friendly and helpful to us.

Scott Wilson

It was very interesting and informative. I liked it.

Paul Doherty

Great place to go and see the history of Las Vegas and what has happened there interesting and interactive stuff to see and explore

I have been to this museum many times since my father worked for the atomic energy commission. Company was in from out of town and we went once again. The displays are wonderfully done. Very informative

Jonathan Hemmings

This museum is so cool! it provides a very in-depth explanation of the history of the United States Atomic power program and its relation to the state of Nevada

Excellent history lesson. A warning for the future.

I've been 2x now, I love learning about our history with the nukes. Some of it is really disturbing but really interesting. I suggest going if you have 2-3 hours to kill so you can do everything.

Errick Teabrag

It was very interesting but some of the exhibits were very loud with 50s jingles playing and a lot of very wordy signs which had great information but still wordy.

Rich S

Amazing exhibits, very, Very, VERY interesting! I knew that Vegas had a strong connection to our atomic history, but it was fascinating to learn more. Loved learning more about the tools and methods involved in nuclear testing.

Laurie Rogers

I'm all about history and nuclear testing is part of our history and happened in our back yard. The admission price is a bit steep, even for the locals discount. I couldn't score the Groupon offer in time. I wish they would tell more about the results from all the data collected and studied all these years. One nice perk, if you keep your wrist band and show it at the Mob Museum you get 20% off admission. Was also informed that you can sign up for a bus trip to see parts of the testing sight which books out months in advance.

The National Atomic Testing Museum is a wealth of information about the atomic age with a timeline running through the walls, artifacts, and films. It’s a very informative museum. I do wish it was more interactive for the younger visitors. I mean I’m not looking to have them create their own atom bombs but some activities or signage written at the elementary school level or even the recordings they could listen to as they went through to tell them stories of the time. More engagement for students. If you are looking to tour the actual test sites; google how to do that, it isn’t part of this museum even though the tours leave from here.

Incredibly interesting museum about atomic testing in Nevada. Would recommend for any history buff in the area.

Angela DiLoreto

Great museum! Make sure you make time for the show too!
