Visitors have access to most of the building and the history represented is not just of the school itself but Virginia City and the Comstock in general. It has both a broad spectrum of history as well as more in depth information, more so than other museums on the same local subjects.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much history they put into this schoolhouse. Not only did they have old school history, but mining, war, and general history, as well. I loved the old school desks and wooden floors that were well used over so many years. I felt the $6 admission was well worth it.

Visited the museum today 10/4/19in the am. The museum is great the young person at the counter was perhaps the most RUDE disrespectful young lady I have met in a long time. It's sad that this person lacks communication skills and respect for older people who make a simple comment on how we receive our information today as compared to the time the school was in use. She took great offense to a statement about cell phones versus the methods used back then as she scrolled her Facebook page..

Enjoyed the history of Virginia City. As a teacher viewing old school buildings and learning about the earlier stages of education in Virginia City peaked my interests. We spent about 30 minutes at this museum as we had an 8 hour drive ahead of us. Plan for additional time to enjoy the museum. Opens at 10:00 AM in Virginia City, as does most of the town.

It was a great experience. The history behind the school from begin to present is just so unique. Also had exhibits of interesting parts of the town. Mines, old switchboard, printing press, dress shop...etc. I think my husband and I spent an hour or so here, exploring all the rooms available to even the writing on the walls.
