Here you have the opinions of real people like you who purchase the services of Fleischmann Planetarium (Museum) in the state of Nevada.
As of day the firm receives a rating of 4.2 over 5 and that rating was based on 58 reviews.
As you can see its rating is quite good, and it's founded on a very large number of reviews, so we can conclude that the rating is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they are pleased, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place feddbacks when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Museum corresponds to the category of Planetarium.
I have loved the Planetarium since I was a young kid. It's a very unique experience and excellent for kids to get some science. The shows are all fascinating and they are budget friendly. The kids always love the shows and exhibits as well as the gift shop. Great place!
Awesome, if you are in to it. Suggest you take someone with shared interest
It's a fun place to visit. They have different programs for a minimal fee (to keep it all going). Great for kids and learning about the solar stem. You can touch a meteorite and see different examples. Gift shop had some unique items.
Took the little ones to see this month's NightSky program but it had been moved to the Redfield campus. We did catch another show and then explored the upstairs exhibit. The dome is on the smaller side but will still hold a fair number of people. The seats are that plasticy, leather material and so will squeak if it contacts your skin and you are shifting about. The exhibit was pretty interesting. The kids really enjoyed it and so did this mom & dad. There are samples of meteorites on display and some you can even touch. We didn't get to explore it throughly but not an issue since we bought an annual pass. The staff was very friendly, polite, and courteous. They were nice enough to ask if we wanted to see the show and then hold it a couple minutes so we could get the kids sorted to go in. There is free parking. The only downside is that you may need to get a parking pass from the counter as the parking garage is predominantly UNR parking. Not a major issue, just going to be a bit annoying about our 3rd or 4th visit with a passel of kids to manage. So, having one to keep handy in the car would be kind of nice. But, certainly, not a deal-breaker. They do have tables and vending machines on the lower level. So, if you want to bring a snack you may. As is common with most planetatiums, no food is allowed in the dome, so plan accordingly.
I remember coming here as a kid with my dad. Great memories watching the stars, exploring the exhibitions, and learning about space. Not much has changed since then, but the goal of teaching people about our vast universe remains the same. I'm a bit disappointed they haven't renovated. I think UNR needs to invest more in this area. I watched "Black Holes" and it was awesome. I really did feel educated afterwards. It was about 40 minutes, and the ticket was only $6. The exhibition focused on our history in space, gravity, and showed some really cool artifacts. Even the small shop filled with little toys and knick knacks was interesting. I ended up getting a small geode. Plus if you check in they give you ten percent off. My interest in learning never stops, so I won't hesitate coming back again. For only a few bucks you can experience a wonderful showing about space, and it'll keep you entertained.
It's s great little planetarium and gift shop. Fun & inexpensive science related shows.
Lame could of took nap but volume to loud
The night we went the film in the planetarium was extremely outdated. I think most fell asleep. For such a great venue with quality capability they must update the films they show...has such more potential for widening the age groups that would come!!
Great
Love this place I've grown up going every couple of years
With all this rain we've be getting lately, Fleischmann Planetarium & Science Center is a perfect place to go to. I've been coming to the Fleischmann Planetarium & Science Center since 1985. Here is another jewel in the crown of UNR. I worked here while I was in college at UNR. It's been updated and parking is now just a high walk across in the newer parking garage. Fleischmann Planetarium is part of the University of Nevada, Reno and Extended Studies. It has outstanding shows for all ages. Outstanding exhibits. Outstanding customer service. Outstanding school field trips. It's available for cool get-togethers like a birthday party or business event. Bathroom is clean. Remember to get your parking ticket validated. Or, take Sierra Spirit and walk into it. Has comet and asteroid and moon and sun eclipse watching groups so check the schedule often. Here is where I come right after Thanksgiving for Christmas presents for family and friends although if I see something cool during my several times a year visits, I buy it and stash it away for also birthday gifts. Public telescope viewing is scheduled at the Fleischmann Planetarium between 8 and 10 p.m. on these dates (weather permitting; please call ahead): June 7 June 28 July 5 July 26 Aug. 2 Aug. 23 Sept. 6 Sept. 27 Oct. 4 Oct. 25 Nov. 1 Nov. 22 Dec. 6 Dec. 27 The Fleischmann Planetarium & Science Center has a very cool history. "The Fleischmann Atmospherium Planetarium was built in 1963 on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. It was the first planetarium in the United States to feature a 360-degree projector capable of providing horizon-to-horizon images and through time-lapse photography showing an entire day's weather in a few minutes. Both the design and function of the planetarium reflect the futuristic focus of the space age during which it was built. Its Populuxe style of architecture is characterized by designs that depict motion, such as boomerangs, flying saucers, atoms, and parabola. Reno architect Raymond Hellman designed a striking hyperbolic paraboloid structure in which form follows function. Max C. Fleischmann, a yeast and gin industry tycoon, moved to Nevada from California in 1935. Following his death in 1951, through 1980, the Max C. Fleischmann Foundation funded over $19 million in building projects on campus, including the planetarium, named in honor of Fleischmann's parents according to his wishes."
The ASTC passport us amazing. We got to experience this planetarium free if charge. We even got to see a movie. The planetarium was informative. I wish that some of the displays were not broken.
Small but very nice neat and informative, and the staff is wonderful.
Best suited to k-6th grade field trips. Very very small, prices are high for what they offer. Staff is great though, very nice and informative.
movie can be cut short by few minutes minutes and can be made more interesting.
This is a very underrated spot in Reno. Took a quarter to get here on the Sierra Spirit. The planetarium is free and very informative. Wished I could have stayed for a show.
Excellent for kids, great guides
It's fun
Good place to see the stars
Small exhibit hall, but nothing beats being surrounded by stars. My kids loved the robot astronauts movie and actually stayed in their seats the whole time! Will return when the new season of shows starts in September.
They added some interactive exhibits where you can land a lander or drive a space buggy!
Definitely an old school feel here, maybe it’s the architecture but it reeks of 60’s or 70’s, which I absolutely love! Yet the gift shop is contemporary, geeky and awesome! I’ve been here several times over the years and just love it! Kids seemed to be enjoying it even though the parents seemed to be more involved with their phones. We need more place like this for the kids today!
Great place to visit..12 2016
Awesome place to visit if you appreciate space exploration. Admission price is fair but the gift shop is a little on the expensive side. The show presentation room is really nice. The exhibit room was small but informational. Parking was free on the weekends.
It's interesting and informative. Nice little Saturday well spent. Not that expensive.
Staff is always friendly. So fun for adults and kids of all ages. A nice place for the family that doesnt break the bank.
Love the planetarium, they recently changed their shows for the fall, and put in some new stuff to look at in the exhibit hall. As for the reviews complaining about parking. I have never had a problem with parking at the planetarium, the staff is always very friendly
What a great activity we have right here in town. If you are into stars and the universe then this is the spot for you. They have a small variety of show and a changing exhibit. Parking is free. All you need to do is go inside and ask for a parking permit. You take it back to your car and stick it in the window. The parking garage is just after the entrance to KNPB Channel 5. The gift shop has some unique items. My favorite are magnetic rocks. The customer service here is spot on. I think Olivia was the name of the employee who sold us are tickets. She was very nice.
An interactive/informative fun center with interesting educational stuff.
A really cool place that doesn't get the credit it deserves
Spent 40$ on an uber ride just to show up in time for them to be closing early. The dome was also 'closed for maintainence' today. Really wish they hadn't said they were open until 8pm today. That was an expensive parking lot to stand in for 10 min.
outdated
We were on a 1st grade fieldtrip. I wanted to spend more time to look and read info. The front desk people could try to be more friendly, esp. Since there were so so many kids and they were behaving quite well. The guy giving presentation was great. I'm sorry I didn't get his name .
Nice shows, and wonderful staff. It was a great place to visit on a rainy Reno day. And, I actually learned something, go figure
Smaller than I expected,Pink Floyd dark side of the moon show was spoiled by stoned 40 year + fans. Laughing and grunting through light show.
Out of focus. Weak projection. Uncomfortable seats and boring movie. :(
For the size and what it is, it's not bad! Okay so this isn't the Smithsonian Air And Space Museum but you definitely learn a thing or two and have loads of fun doing it! The staff seems to be mostly comprised of UNR students but they know a thing about great customer service and knowledge on all of the subjects and in that respect I appreciate that. These students work hard to make your visit educational, fun and diverse.
The Planetarium is a great place to learn about astronomy, space exploration, and our world and environment. A variety of dome shows are offered that change on a regular basis. An exhibit hall features hands-on activities, a meteorite collection, and even some space hardware. On first and fourth Fridays, have a look at the sky through a telescope, weather permitting. There's always something interesting going on at the Planetarium!
