Great location to learn about history and “touch” it at the same time.
Support this awesome museum!
Great place to visit!
Don't let the outside fool you. This is a really great museum, filled with some one-of-a-kind pieces. Very interesting . . . and FREE! Did you know we had a snow tank in the war? You'll see one here. Did you know we had gas masks for dogs and horses? You'll see it here.
Stopped in with one of our grandkids. Was very interesting, Had a lot more than I knew about or remembered. Will try to stop in again in the future.
Very nice. Kids loved it!
I was truly honored
It was great. It's free and lots of history. Donations I think is the only thing keeping it going.
We didnt know this place existed, we just needed to stop for gas on a cross-country trip, and happened to see a building full of tanks on the side if the road! My young boys loved it nearly as much as I did! #UnexpectedOpportunityToEnterAnOldBradleyAssaultVehicle
This place is so awesome! There is so much U.S. history. If you support our military and the freedoms they are, and have, fought for, you will love Heartland!
Excellent place to spend a few hours. We had a great time in there. Great displays and very informative.
Amazing, and FREE! Most of the museum is in a metal shed without ventilation, so dress appropriately. Amazing variety. They had a tank and a helicopter to climb in. We will go back for sure!
Cool. Tons of stuff to look at and learn from.
Not open on Wednesday as advertised. Took pictures from fence line went to their website was able to see all the things they had inside but didn't get to go in.
This is an amazing collection and well worth the stop!!!
A hidden gem!
Awesome place to visit!
This museum is a must-see! There is so much to see that it's tough to get it all in one visit. There are tons of military vehicles and displays, as well as a Huey and a Bradley that you can actually climb inside. The staff is always ready to help and answer questions, and the admission is donation-based. Do not miss this if you're visiting Lexington or passing by on I-80. It's definitely worth the stop!
Army stuff, really old. But funny for kids
People there very nice to our individual s w disabilities
Great Museum!
Sadly they were not open when they were supposed to be so we never got to see the museum. Maybe next time
Got there at 4 when they were scheduled to close at 5. They were closed. Is it an April fool's prank?
Very cool. Interesting history. Plus you get to climb in a tank.
Amazing history
Soooooo cool. Dozens and dozens of Jeeps, Humvees, Tanks, Helicopters, Ambulances and so much more. Free admission.
On a Road trip from Colorado to Chicago and saw this from the road, nice spot to stretch and appreciate pur Military.
Awesome staff, and great atmosphere. Cool military vehicles and more.
Astonishing selection of military vehicles and memorabilia! This is a must see, amazing place! Totally kid friendly, hands on experiences, just wow!
Family really enjoyed it. Lots of things to look at.
The permanent display is amazing. The convoy, and people with the convoy were a real treat! Both a tribute to an incredible group of people we are indebted to...we owe these men and women for our freedom.
Great place
Great place to visit.
Saw a sign for this place as we were driving east along I-80 and figured we should stop by since we were in no hurry. I'm glad that we stopped. My wife and I enjoyed our time here. The older gentleman at the front was very nice, but not too helpful. He wanted to help, just wasn't very knowledgeable about the facility or what they had on the premises. My wife, who isn't really into military history, had a good time checking everything out. We had lot of fun playing on the Bradley that they have in the building that is open for people to actually get inside the vehicle. They are working on a neat M.A.S.H. display as well. There are some really cool, and unique finds here. The weather was getting nasty with snow and ice, so we didn't check out the many vehicles that they have outside on display. I highly recommend visiting this place if you get the chance.
Everything we found shows they are open M-F. We came and it was closed. Monday March 19th at 1 in the afternoon.
Loved it can't wait for road trip with my son in 2021
Great place to visit
It was amazing! I really recommend this valuable museum to my friends.
The last time I had been to the museum was 4 years ago. They have added a lot more tanks. The reason i gave it 4 stars was because of the lack of information on some of the vehicles.
My son and I love coming here. So much to see and so much to learn. There's even one helicopter you can climb in and pretend to fly, as well as one tank that you can do the same.
Definitely worth stopping for.
It is really a great place to see items that are about military history and the people there are really helpful.
Very cool place to visit! We took our Mosaic individuals, and we all had a great time. Very friendly, wonderful staff. We will be going back!
Nice museum with a lot of info and a nice assortment of vehicles.
For us old ghost of military past. It was a pleasure walking back in time.
Great place to visit. Climb in a tank and helicopter, how often do you get that chance.
An interesting museum where you can get right up into the vehicles
Such an awesome place! Tons to look at, not just vehicles. There are even some in the back warehouse you can get in. There are binoculars you can use and dioramas. Outside are more vehicles to look at and it's all by donation only. I asked the guy how they got so many vehicles and he said after wwii there weren't any farm vehicles due to the war so farmers used military vehicles. Most were within 150 miles of the place.
This is a must-see stop for anyone traveling across Nebraska. What a terrific collection of military vehicles and related materials. Super-friendly people staffing the space. No fee but donations are much appreciated. It's amazing the variety of vehicles they've been able to assemble for this museum.
My son and I stumbled across this on the way through Nebraska. I’m SO glad we stopped! The exhibits are well-labeled. While they focus on vehicles, they have an extensive collection of ordnance, weapons, and other military hardware. We spent 2 hours there (much of that time inside the Bradley M3 you are allowed to enter) and had to leave when they closed for the day. Could have spent a half-day, easily. They accept donations in lieu of a set ticket price. They also have an extensive shop for buying military patches/flags/models. Worth the stop as a side-trip or a destination!
Very nice museum that is donation only. They have a lot of old military vehicles and other displays. It is worth the time checking it out. God bless our troops and thank you to those who have served.
Love it
Amazing place to visit!
Like a huge bag of candy to any history buff with a sweet tooth! Easy access and worth checking out if you get the chance.
The past HISTORY OF THE VETRINS
Wide variety of military vehicle's, and great information about all of them!
Es ist schon einige Jahre zurück als ich dieses Museum besuchte, Es ist in gutem Zustand und die Betreiber sind hilfreich. Ja sogar Taxifahrten mit einem Panzer durfte ich machen. Super
Great collection! Worth the stop!
I have wanted to go here for years. For this years birthday I finally made the trip. It is cool to see so many great vehicles.
Really cool place you can actually go in a armored personnel tank like thing and a old helicopter from Vietnam. Older gentleman that runs the place is very friendly and will answer all your questions. Mock up of the old show MASH and a wide variety of tanks and such some dated back from WW1. Free to enter though highly recommend if you go he has a tip jar to drop a few bucks but there is no pressure if you don't and still want to see everything that is displayed inside and outside
Very disappointed in last Monday drove all the way there and as a vet I was excited to see everything that's been mentioned, however they were closed despite everything online and the sign at the gate saying they were open daily they were closed and had been closed all day. Tried to call but there was no answer and not even a voice mail indicating any information on the place, I have no idea what the place is like because I haven't seen it but the business practices are terrible
Ok, Needs some TLC
Went to this museum a number of years ago, definitely worth a visit. Not a fancy museum by any means, which I like. Lots of vehicles on display and some nice displays inside.
Thank those who serve and remember Freedom is not Free. Impressive collection of military equipment. Brought back memories for this Vet.
Excellent museum.
Was passing through on our way back to Colorado, had my hopes up to see this museum, as I'm a vet myself, pulled up at 3pm and they have been closed all day when the hours say they should be open. I am SO bummed.
This is a great museum! All they ask is a free will donation. I was able to climb into a Bradley Fighting Vehicle close to what I was in on Desert Storm.
They have an impressive collection. They have a M.A.S.H. exhibit with true pieces from the show.
AFTER YEARS OF PASSING THIS PLACE SINCE THE LATE 90'S. I'M GLAD I PUT IT ON MY BUCKET LIST. GREAT PLACE TO VISIT.
So cool
What a wonderful gem of a place! Great to see a place like this - thoroughly enjoyed it!
This is a charming place, worth the stop if you're taking I-80. There are soooo many things to look at! They could use a few more labels on things. What items did have labels told great stories, I would have loved to read more!
Lots of cool stuff to see
Hubby loved the collection. Clean and well kept. Gift shop very reasonably priced.
On my tour from LA to NYC, i saw this place from freeway and decided to visit this place. Very nice collection of war vehicles. Very friendly staff. I was totally amazed !
A good sized museum with a nice display, both indoor and outdoor. The outdoor exhibits are only somewhat labeled, so you don't know what everything is. But the history contained there is good if you're into military vehicles.
Took the family on Memorial Day weekend. Kids got to see the sacrifices made for our country & enjoy the experience by jumping into some of the vehicles & tanks. Will always support the Heartland Museum.
Awesome place in amazing people my 50 kids and staff from the YMCA Holdrege loved it!
Nice displays and Vets like me around
Awesome spot to stop with the family on your way through. Free, via donations. Great collection of artifacts.
Great collection including the first Humvee
Great collection of historic vehicles. M4 Shermans, personnel carriers, even a Huey! If you have an afternoon to kill, this is a great place to go.
Like the vehicle you never see up close.
Fantastic museum, it's well worth the stop.
We saw signs for this museum while on a road trip to Iowa for a family function. Being an avid enthusiast of all things aircraft and armor, I had to stop and drag my mom around here for an hour. For being in a smallish town in the middle of nowhere, they have a pretty impressive collection of vehicles, both inside and outside. These include a Bradley fighting vehicle, Sherman tank, Kubelwagen, Schwimmwagen, and the classic WW2 Jeep, as well as many others. They even have three UH-1 Hueys inside. Three! In addition, there is a large collection of various projectiles, uniforms and other equipment, and even a good amount of models and dioramas of various equipment and eras. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and reminded me of that crusty Jeep character in the movie "Cars". So there's some character to be found here as well. If you are into this stuff, I'd say check it out if you have the time. Free admission but they do ask for a donation. Well worth it in my opinion.
Awesome collection of war rolling stock from WW1 to desert Storm etc.
Good place to visit
Fantastic!
Great roadside museum
My kids love this place. We stop every time we are driving on I-80.
World class collection of military vehicles. Great family experience. Well worth your time to visit. Will definitely be back.
Fantastic road stop just off the highway. Many vehicles of all types. If you served in most any era you will find something familiar. Self guided with a couple of great old guys who staff the place. Perfect WWII Jeeps Willys MB and Ford GPW examples up to M151Humv and Bradleys. They even have a Kübelwagen and a rare Schwimmenwagen version. Fantastic well cared for stop for just a donation. Walmart and gas/food nearby.
Nice people nice place
Kids love it
Very interesting.lot more vehicles since last there several years ago.Enjoyed buying items for GRANDKIDS.
Great experience. My 8yr old and I spent a couple hours looking around and can't wait to go back
It is a really neat place to stop. So glad we stopped and looked.
This was a very good place to visit. It was donation only and had a lot of stuff to see. I will go again if able
Very knowledgable staff. Kid friendly. Love the M.A.S.H. theme.
Worst place ever to go or shop. Boring, and crazy rip off prices on junk.
Really cool place. Lots to look at. Brilliant staff.... always learn something new when I go there.
Great assortment of vehicles and nastalgic information. We had a ret. Army Sargent and lately Afgan. Vet for our tour guides.
Excellent historical experience, incredible number of old, and newer, military vehicles. Also , even more items including uniforms, munitions, and historical information. Definitely stop in if going through Lexington, but definitely worth making a special trip to see the museum.
Very interesting exposition. The good way to remember Veterans.
Great place even though bunch screaming kids
Neat place, great staff.
Was closed at working hours. People came from Canada, walking to the museum and got nothing.....
So worth seeing
An amazing historical experience and a friendly, helpful volunteer staff!
My whole family loved stopping here. Fun stuff to look at and very interesting. They are working on a MASH exhibit we want to see when done.
Very friendly and knowledgeable. Entrance is by donation, lots of cool stuff to see and learn about. Thanks volunteers!
They have some truly unusual items, but you have to look around carefully! They need more space and better labeling on the displays. If you know what you're looking at, it's a fantastic place, but if you don't know much about military weapons, vehicles, and gear, you won't fully understand or appreciate how great it really is!
Excellent. Run by 4 vietnam vets, its got wonderful displays. You can actually go inside a bradley cfv! Its free!! Don’t forget to make a donation.
Awesome museum. Great assortment of vehicles.
Excellent!!!
Was done well. Very fascinating exhibits.
This place is awesome! A great exhibit of how much our veterans sacrifice on our behalf. Highly recommend!
My friend, my cousin, and I took a trip out west and noticed some tanks out front so we stopped to look because my cousin is autistic and loves tanks. We get there and a grouchy old man is next to his truck and told us we have 30 minutes because he has somewhere to be. That's fine and all I guess, the place says it closes at 5 but it's free so it's whatever. We make a small donation, walk around for a little under 15 minutes and my cousin sees a model tank of his favorite and buys it, but only after the guy is short with him because he doesn't know to operate the register so he had to go back and get change from an office. We go outside so we can look at the vehicles quickly and take a few pictures. As I was about to take a picture of my cousin with his favorite tank, the guy yells at us to come back up. Very cool and interesting place, but the staff is horrible. Hopefully others might get a better host.
awesome place. you need to stop and see the history. way cool
A very cool collection of vehicles right off of I 80. Great spot to stop for a little while.
So much to see. Can't wait to see the M.A.S.H. display when it's done.
We had a great time checking out all of the displays and vehicles. My kids had an especially fun time playing in the tank.
Fascinating place!
This is a cool stop when traveling through the state. Staff was super helpful and let my Scout Troop use their convention space to eat lunch.
Love this place
Awsome place must see!
Nice staff and many vehicles.
Lots of military vehicles and other items. Most vehicles are "do not touch" but a few allow access inside. We were rushed because they lock the gates promptly at closing time, 5pm on the day We were there.
Best military vehicles I have seen
