This was the perfect setup to our vacation that included a trip to the Crazy Horse Memorial.
Amazing place!!
It was very informative. If you like history you will love it
Really a nice place, father was stationed there during ww2.
1960s museum with easy to read displays, 2 mammoths locked in death duel on display, worth small entry fee
A great place to visit with many wonderful activities. The restaurant is exceptional all around with wonderful staff a great menu and good prices. A great family experience!
So interesting Good to see Nebraska mastodon bones
Great place, very large area, with all you can ask for, horseback riding, stagecoach, museum, very awesome and historical
Lots of history, lots of outdoor adventure opportunities.
Small but really unique, fun museum. Well worth your time.
Very nice and beautiful in the fall.
Very interesting. Loved all of the different displays.
Really nice place!!
Probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever camped. Amazing views, staff extremely friendly and resonable rates. Lots of things to see in surrounding areas.
Very well kept , and very interesting
Nice museum, movie was a bit outdated still giving the old narrative of American conquest of the west glossing over the atrocities we committed.
Fantastic❣️
I have been there before and It of course is a great place to go
Nicely laid out. The 2 mammoths locked together was amazing
Highly recommend the Jeep tour!
This is the best repurpose of resources!! There is lots to see. A great place to stay.
A wonderful place, full of history and activities, beautiful scenery.
Wonderful place to stop coming out of the mountains on our road trip. The museums are great! We went to the Crazy Horse Monument last year, so I was excited to pick this spot because he was stabbed in the back here. The history is well displayed here. Over many years many different events happened at this fort, the knowledge is great.
All was great! Had a great lunch, then attended the musical. It was such a successfull outing until we got in the car and found we got a ticket for no park permit. The only reason we parked close is we're had a handicapped lady with us, but my car had no handicapped sticker. Was not aware I needed the permit to see the musical. Oh well, will be better prepared next time.
It has a lot to offer, our group will be back!
Seats are in need of total rework.
Provides an interesting background to Fort Robinson's purpose, and later uses for WW1 & 2.
Very interesting displays about the fort's history.
Campground is nice. They charge you for every little thing. Including the showers!
It is wonderful. I would recommend it
Tons of things to do!
Love the plays! Lots of other things to see and do, as well.
Poor electric in the RV park
Beautiful day for walk at the Fort!
There are no signs!! We went to a building marked comache hall thinking it might hold Native American artifacts. When we tried to go in someone told us it’s a dorm and not open for tours. There were some buildings marked as museums, but they weren’t open and no signs about when they would open. There were a lot of other buildings but we couldn’t tell if they were open for tours or if they are cabins for rent. We finally just left.
Awesome history center, the best staff ever.
Very informative!
Worthwhile visit! I wish we had more time to visit it. We saw where Crazy Horse was killed, they have several recreated buildings so you can get a feel for what it was like when he was there. There is a respectful memorial as well. The rest of the fort was large, you could easily spend a couple of days there. The restaurant was delicious! Plus you can rent the some of the old buildings there, so if you're interested in history that's a special treat!
This has some great history, it is an awesome place to hold a family reunion or just go camping. Lots to see and do. It isn't that far south of the Black Hills area of South Dakota, it is off the beaten path but worth the time to see. Most of the activities don't open until Memorial Day and only run until Labor Day, but camping sites were open early. We loved it.
Excellent place for family adventures!!
Small but nice. Good fill in for bad weather.
Such a cool museum. History so amazing .So fun.great experience .
Classic Mammoth skeleton. Seeing the bones of two mammoths as they were discovered, locked in battle is truly unique. Fluorescent gem display has always been my favorite. Large gift shop has lots of toy options for the kiddos
Adorable and historical! Full of fun and events. A great place to stay.
What a wonderful place for a weekend. The small cabin we shared with our family was just right for the six of us. We come here a lot. Be sure and call early for reservations for next year.
Wasn't what I expected. Staff there didn't know particulars of its history, acted uninformed and uncaring. Not worth the price of parking or admission to the museum.
It's an important part of the United States history. Everyone should visit.
Fun
A wonderful way to see and experience true history.
Very informative and clean. Loved the mammoth! Nice gift shop.
Visited Ft Rob for one day on the way back from our "real vacation", but found it to be quite a worthy destination in its own right! I'd consider it to be on of the midwest's best kept secrets actually. Beautiful scenery, trail rides, Jeep tours, camping, lodging, a restaurant, all wrapped up in a US Army history wrapper. It's a very down-home kind of place, lodging and food prices are maybe slightly below normal, but the activity prices are great!
Great place to visit.
I went for the history of the place. It was hard to find and figure out what had gone on here. Very touristy...concentrating more on visitor recreation then history it seemed to me. There are 2-4 concessionaires operating in the park...they don't communicate well with one another I guess. Hard to get anyone to answer a question unless in was pertaining to their little domain. I stayed 4 nights in the campground...which was wonderful.
Come here yearly to pay respects to Tasunka Witco, Crazy Horse. Enjoy going to Carter P. lake a couple miles out it's beautiful and peaceful.
Very unique history
I thought this was a very cool place when we arrived and I tried hard to like it BUT the management of this park is outrageous and they are doing very little to keep up the amazing historical homes that are for rent. Their biggest issue is one of communication. If they are going to have rules for the activities they offer, then fully communicate those rules at all times and stop wasting peoples money and time. There's also a major policy issue with some of the off-site activities, where they were allowing a minor child (age 9) to attend a river float alone - NO official adult supervision. This should be illegal and I not only blame the park for allowing it, but also the parents for thinking this is okay. As someone that was attending that river float, I felt VERY uncomfortable feeling responsible for this child that was being left to fend for themselves. Thankfully for that child, the park totally screwed up our river float reservation and overbooked the bus/van so the entire outing fell apart.
Such a cool place to spend a family reunion. A lot to do and a good place to do nothing at all
Ignore the naysayers! You get out of Fort Robinson exactly what you put into your visit. I have been there several times over the years and I go back every chance I get! About the only activities I have not done at Fort Rob are the horse trail rides and the play house. But, according to people I have talked with who experienced them, they were well pleased! I can't wait to go back to Fort Robinson!!!
Amazing history. Learn from the past. You can stay in officer quarters. Western history crossroads amased what happened here.
Very quiet.museum was closed.office was open, and gift shop open.
Fantastic historic military post. From the days of the Indian Wars up to WWII, the Fort Robinson Museum has it all. The museum has large rooms and excellent displays with detailed descriptions of the events surrounding the history of it's displayed objects. The price of less than $4 an adult was unbelievable and well worth the investment.
Amazing historic U S Army base
Not as good as it once was but still worth the trip once a year at least.
Cool place. Don't reccomend going in the off season as nothing is going on. We visited the first week in May.
We went out to eat at the Fort Robinson restaurant as a family. 1st off there was 5 of us and they sat us at a 4 person table. They were not too busy to seat us at a suitable table. We did have a toddler with us as well and when we asked for a high chair it did not have straps to buckle him In. No refills, Appetizer never came, My Burger was harder than the shingles on the roof. This was a Friday night in July and it was steady. Everyone around us was not getting service either. Waitress messed up half the order or just brought what she felt was best for us to eat instead of what was requested for sides. Bad attitude. We finally had to leave and track the waitress down for the check. When we asked to speak to the manager the hostess said she was at home and then broke down into tears. Very unprofessional. Did feel bad for her though. The staff was very unorganized and could tell there was serious lack of training. The person in charge of the restaurant should be responsible for these issues and liabilities but is for some reason at home on a Friday night when there would be steady business and need for some sort of management present.
Great place to have a reunion.
My Grandma hosted our family reunion here last summer. I had fun but just a suggestion if you have young kids. Bring toys and sources of entertainment. My son was 5 at the time. But my cousins kids 8 and 15 had a blast fishing even so much so we continued fishing even when it had started to rain.
Fun, horses, buttes
Great place to stay and hunt the surrounding public areas!
Reminds you how military sacrificed to fight for this country. How Native Americans and Calvary survived.
Beautiful grounds very friendly people.
Really cool, kids loved it
Fort Robinson is a hidden treasure in Nebraska....
Very interesting place for western history lovers!
A $ rip off. You pay to enter the park and then you pay to see the museum. Most of the building are locked.
Beautiful place but little guidance to go thru it. Handouts didn't say what many of the buildings were for.
Wonderful service the best food very fun activities
My favorite place in the whole world. A must-see for anyone interested in history.
So much history and endless outdoor adventure! Camping there is the best!
Excellent museum, lots of great information about the earliest days in Nebraska.
Lots of history, sure glad there's a lot of pictures
Wonderful visit. So much history!
Museum that represents the history of the Fort(for area history and geology, see the trail side museum). There is a short informative video when you first get there. There are three rooms to go through, each one highlighting a different period of the forts history. The first room focuses on the forts beginning and the red cloud agency, the 2nd room has artifacts from the cheyenne outbreak to the wounded knee battle. The last room exhibits items from the "country club era" of the fort starting about 1900 through ww2. Admission is only $3 for adults, and is good for the duration of your stay at the fort. There is also a gift shop with some good books. Expect to spend 1-2 hours depending on your fascination with history.
This is a Great place to go camping and learn a little bit of history.
Interesting historical visit. Way out West Nebraska
Love it.
Neat little place. The fossils were amazing.
Lots of interesting history and fun things to do from horseback riding to Jeep rides and tubing down the White River
Great history!
#ft Robinson out break 2019
Pretty good museum
Enjoyed fossils and friendly staff.
I love the location and the rich history and activities nearby. While more attention to cleanliness of the barracks would be nice, the facilities are nice. It is a cozy place to get a group together. We have been here for a couple of family reunions, and they have been enjoyable.
What an amazing preservation of history. The fact it is used and not just sitting there is the cherry on top!!
This August was our first time to Fort Robinson, but it won't be our last! Staff were super friendly and what was really nice was that everything was affordable. We went on a morning trail ride that was just awesome. Thanks Mouse and Rango! Would like to come again and bring our own horses to explore more of the countryside. Lots of history. Just amazing!
Amazing! Beautiful place to bring your family.
Being on my "Bucket List" visited Fort Robinson on September 21, 2018 with my son, Jason. A very peaceful setting as if time is standing still in honor of "Crazy Horse" who fell here.
Had a great time! All the trail horses are great!
Wonderful area full of history, the Jeep rides were especially fun.
Extremely interesting from a Historical Perspective.
You just have check this place out !
I really enjoyed this place
Nice young lady at the desk. Very helpful.
Road Trip there & it was amusing, full of great activities. Interactive & everyone was so kind & i recommend it 120%
Great place to learn some history, take a Jeep tour or go kayaking.
Nice good fishing
Very nice place
So much history here! Stay in the Lodge if you can it's a nice reminder of the history!
I went to pay respect to a tribal elder. ;) and to thank him for being a role model to stand up for our native rights.
Cool place. Has restaurant on site. Lots of outdoor activity. Has hotel and rental houses. Museum is interesting.
Very nice preserved post. Cant get in most buildings. But enjoyed the exterior. Alot of buildings
Great displays.
Wonderful history
Worth the stop to see this historic place.
Nice historic campsite. Clean and well groomed. They offer lie to do including onsite swimming. Everything costs money but it's adorable and used, likely, to upkeep of the grounds. Lots of history on the grounds. Tons of cottonwood trees so allergy sufferers beware, bring your allergy pills.
Fun and historic. Great camping. Excellent facilities.
Go there. It's an important historic site. Tasunke Witko was a great leader.
You can camp and enjoy fine dinning usually in the summer they have gun shows and other cool live action then you can make your way down to the museum we're you will learn about Nebraska's great history.
Very neat and informative. Great family stop!!
Was told the museum was included and was not.
This museum has lots to offer with thousands of Indian and US military artifacts. You can follow the timeline of Ft Robinson as it was throughout the years. Very informative and worth a good couple of hours.
Very interesting, inexpensive activity to include in Ft Robinson visit.
Very enjoyable to visit
Alot of history here. Beautiful grounds!
Beautiful and unique state park.
A very intense place. They've done a great job in presenting a lot of history here, and much of it is willing to engage at least somewhat with troubling aspects of colonialism, racism, and oppression. However, the family vacation aspect of this site is unnerving. Seeing families playing volleyball just a short distance from where Crazy Horse was killed was disturbing in many ways.
Fantastic! Well worth the drive from Denver.
It's a wonderful place with lots to do. I will go back again.
My experience here would have been better if it wasn't 90+ degrees. There is minimal shade, but it's a good place to see in cooler weather
There is so much history here, and a beautiful place to stay
Very relaxing facility. Trail ride was great! Very fun experience for sure. Restaurant was a pass on food unfortunately( 100% pass). Check out the local restaurants in Crawford 4 miles from the Fort. Crawford Great service and costs along with home town flavor with a smile! Ordered dinner at the Fort not a very good flavor at all or price. Waitress tried to do her best, however the "beef ribeye" is a insult to the name ribeye period. No basics of salt and pepper, thin slice of a sirloin type cut? Typical generic meat save your taste buds for their pie and ice cream. The grounds are very well kept, the lodging rooms are huge!! Cabins are very roomy as well! Oh' no camp fires period on the grounds.
Great place to visit with rich history preserved and top notch productions at the Playhouse makes it a definite destination.
Awesome place to experience
Very pretty a lot of history worth the stop
Takes more than 1 day to see + do everything here.
Great displays
You need to visit there! Great place
Very nice place my family had lunch the only negative thing is we had to pay at the two museums not just one fee.
Very educational. I need to go back!
Fun place to visit, lots of things to do
I've loved this place went since I was a kid coming here for field trips. There's a lot of history to be had here, plus beautiful scenery.
Very informative well done
So much great horse riding. Kyaking, swimming, and many many other events. We'll be back
Very nice. We will be back, enjoyed the nice people, helpful staff, great weather, and history lesson.
The museum is vary cool. But it’s really not a great place just to swing by. Looks like these all kinds of activities but not really that interesting. Glad we saw the spot were they killed
Very sentimental place for my heart and family
Great fun, beautiful spot!
Beautiful place. Great museum.
This is a very well preserved state park. We took a jeep tour through the brutes. I would recommend it. Its about an hour long and only $13 a person.
We love camping here reasonable cost and fun activities for everyone. We have done the trail ride several times and the kids always loved it and the Wranglers are always extremely friendly.
Everyone is helpful and knowledgeable.
Interesting, but not to much stuff!
Great family reunion weekend. Cabins are very large. 2 days is enough to get everything done.
Closed for season when we visited. I am sure it is awesome!
Super cool place with super cool employees.
Nice place, but long walk to the shower and firewood is pricey.and don't come here expecting to bike, gotta go back to chadron
Good central location for a little bit of everything. Snack shop, bike rental, and a room for local flora and fauna. Lastly, and our favorite, there was also a room for silly family pictures. Great!
Such a neat, historical place.
