REVIEWS OF Glore Psychiatric Museum IN Missouri

Emily Raffety

This museum is amazing! It's a must for anyone with an interest in mental health. Plus the gift shop is affordable and amazing.

Michael Rolfe

It makes me feel grateful that I live in this time in history

Megan Hicks

Such a cool place!! Mom and I stopped on our way back from Dallas after I spent a week in Residency for my mental health counseling degree. It was so awesome to see the evolvement of mental health treatments.

jamie chadd

Glore was one of the most interesting museums I've ever been to - sad and disheartening, but very intriguing. It would be quite possible to spend several hours there reading the history and looking at artifacts. Absolutely worth the two hour drive from Omaha!

Steve Ward

Learned a lot about the history of psychiatric

Xander McLain

Super insane and informative

Sandra Stoops

I absolutely loved this museum! It was so interesting and educational. You really get a feel for what it must have been like for the patients and staff. The elevator was creepy cool. It took me over an hour to see everything. It could have used more signs on the road. I drove past it several times before I realized which building it was. But it was definetly worth it. The gift shop had unique selections.

Hannah B

Took about 3 hours to walk through if you make sure you read the info on the walls every now and then. Didn't expect the Native American or African American wings, which were nice surprises. Friendly staff. Interesting antiques and info!

Darrell Kellogg Sr

A really great place to visit and very educational

Lisa Barlowkutter

Super interesting!!! Historical. Worth visiting!

David Duffey

Definitely something different.Pretty interesting

Jenny S

The artifacts were pretty cool. It's really small (honestly, Mercy Medical Center in New York has more artifacts on display, and they are still a 100% full service, fully functioning, baby delivering, ICU-ing, all the things hospital). I don't know if there is a tour guide optional, but I would've easily given 5 stars if my group had one. The gift shop was on point!!!

Sadie Sims

It was really cool, interesting and sad how people were treated back then.

Nancy Steinacker

It turned out to be pretty interesting and was also housed with 3 other museums. You could easily spend a whole afternoon there. Some special pieces in the Native American artifacts area. I would highly recommend it-sort of a hidden jewel in St Joe.

Jim Feller

Strange place, strange history. Byt what should you expect from a psychiatric hospital that started as an insane asylum? Great tour, great tour guide!

Donald Gueltzau

This is a one I've a kind museum ,people from all over the world com to it because it's a pearl of St Joseph alarg collection is on display taking all 3 floors of a former state #2 psychiatric hospital . The wonders of the past is hear for you to come and see if you dare.!

Dayte Corbin

Awesome museum, there are 4 museums in one! Lots of really cool history and the psychiatric hospital is pretty cool!

Amanda Scarlett

So much fun. Creeped my 13 year old son out. That was so funny

no anime

Very informative but was kinda empty and it felt like something was wrong there but couldn't really think if it

J P

Wonderful museum. We've come a long way in mental health treatment. Exhibits show many of the sadistic 'treatments" that have been tried. Spent way more time here than expected.

Madelynn Boyts

Very interesting, you'll find yourself spending a lot of time here if you visit. Would recommend for children as well.

Karen Chapman

It was very interesting, well wrote the money

Candi Gonzales

This place is amazing! Lots to see and learn. Very informative. I will be going back.

Apurva B

Taking a look at psychiatric history through exhibits is a noteworthy experience which this museum provides. I highly recommend anyone interested in this field to check it out!

Vanessa Johnson

Seriously a really interesting view into the history of Western psychiatric care. As a student I think I paid four dollars for entry, a nice lady at the front explained what was where and showed me a cool video. There are smaller museums directly attached to the glore museum about African American history and Native American history... And Dolls for some reason. I didn't have time for those, but I perused them a bit and they had a lot of cool artifacts and stories from folks from that area in the past. Check it out!

Jamie Jackson

Had a great time at a truly twisted museum! I would recommend highly to anyone who has even the slightest interest

jess

the prices are very reasonable and the layout is nice. there's no over clutter and plenty of space to walk around. plenty of interesting things to learn. took about 2 hours for the psychiatric part. there is more parts to see as well. would definitely reccommend.

erikshappywife

I loved this museum. I didn't get to check out the other museums they have due to time constraints but plan to go back soon, when I have more time to look around. The staff is awesome and really make you feel welcome.

charlie

Awesome place, really welcoming would recommend :)

user1nation

A lot of history here and definitely worth the time and money. Also, the staff was a lot of fun too!

Lisa Reynaga

Amazing museum. Loved the exhibits. Very intriguing and educational. Can't wait to go back. Worth the 3 -4 hour drive

Chris Worsham

Such a great experience! Well worth the trip! The staff is very helpful and friendly! A nice little gift shop for your "retail therapy!"

Jeremy Cooper

Very interesting learning the history of mental illness treatments. Highly recommend!

Becky Boone

Its very clean and had alot of interesting exhibits very educational to see how far we have come over the years

Kathy Seimears

Really cool place with lots of history. There are actually 3 other museums located in the building.

Kevin Kirk

Really interesting, kind of creepy. Great way to spend an hour or two. Most of the items on display were very pertinent and interesting to read about but the random chairs and stuff did not make as much of an impression. My favorite parts were the patient art displays and the exhibit illustrating historic "treatments". Really great museum that will make you think about mental health and its evolution and future.

Renee Love

We explored the African American History exhibit very well put together there is so much history especially of Saint Joseph Missouri natives

A W

Pretty cool museum filled with old psychiatric equipment.

Daniel Hull

Great place to learn about some of the history of mental health

Victoria Coleman

Showed up today during business hours to find it is closed “due to ice.” There’s no ice on the ground. I probably would have loved this museum and would have rated it 5/5. Probably won’t make the hour drive again to try to visit though.

Nancy Needham

Hard to imagine this is what we did just to help people in the not too distant past. Worth a look.

Peggy Sottosanti

Great museum full of interesting exhibits.

Jennifer Bryan

This historical account of the inhumane ways mentally ill persons were treated in earlier centuries is sobering and beyond sad. The progressive treatment and care that occurred in the most recent century for mental health patients in St. Jo's Missouri State Hospital 2 is well-documented and far more humane. Thank God for science and medicine that inform better practices today.

Kristin Irvin

A good way to spend about 2 hours. Fun gift shop.

Tracy B

An interesting exhibit of the devices used throughout history but sad to know so many have suffered at the hands of others in such a public manner. The works of art created by the patients are a great additions to the museum as well.

BirdLady East

This place is awesome! There are three museums on the same Complex, for one price! There was a lot of history and information as well as the machinery and or equipment used for mental illness (did not go to other museums yet)

courtney weber

4$ for student price, full access to all museums. Really interesting displays.

Miranda

Very cool! We used a Groupon and paid 4.50 for admission for two

John Midgette

The museum does a great job sharing the treatment, housing, and theories of dealing with human psychiatric issues over history and in Missouri in particular. Well worth the small cost of admission and time.

Chrystyna Way

I love this place. I want to be a psychologist because of this place.

Les Watkins

Absolutely cool and very informative

Liam Ridley

A fascinating look at how mental health Care has changed over the last century. Also check out the doll museum.

Paradise Stalker

Awesome educational experience. Exhibits change out so there's new stuff every so often overall cool place

Corey Whorton

Awesome and unique place. Educational and fun.

Diana Claytor

We drove from Oklahoma (about 4 hours) and when we got there we spent basically the entire day there. Everything was so interesting to read and look at.

Alice A

Finding the place and parking were easy. Upon entering the female attendant did not greet us. She didn't say hello or welcome us. We paid and she said "here's a map". She seemed annoyed people were even there honestly. Be prepared to read because most things are just photos you read. Although many of the things are informative it would be nice to actually have more tangable items. The Native American area is good but the African Archives were pretty much only on slavery which was disappointing. The Doll Museum is one room with some barbies in boxes and about 10 other dolls/action figures. It was really pointless and had very little information. A group of 4 walked in after us to the doll room and were very upset because they had driven so far for what it was. The WW2 things were a nice bonus. Overall it is worth a visit but I definitely wouldn't make a long trip for the place.

Mark Schonwetter

Psychiatric Museum and several others with one admission and a very interesting collection. Admission is very reasonable. Parking on site. Four floors of exhibits in two buildings. Materials presented very well. Native American , dolls, war exhibits, black archives and more. Signage from I-29 is very good.

John Root

Meh, not a whole lot of order it's all just slapped together.

Cai-Lee Warner

It was really cool to see all the different rooms and all the preserved items they kept from when the patients lived in there.

Kay Schnack

What an incredible picture of how far we have come and how far we need to go in mental health treatments! What a great collection of items!

John Francisco

This is a wonderful museum tour. It's attached to three other museums and it has a gift shop.

Doomsdayride Adkins

Kool Indian Exhibits

Larry Sparling

Good information and history

Matt Johnston

Very interesting experience. A lot of informational history here, however some quite disturbing. This museum is definately worth the trip to anyone interested in this type of thing.

Jesse Hebisen

Incredibly interesting glimpse into the history of psychiatric treatment methods.

Gregory Quarles

Holy Hell. I was psychiatric care supervisor at Mendota Mental Health Facility and worked at Stateville prison foe 10 years. This museum is shocking

Kait B

I found this place by accident while looking for more activities on Groupon, near a concert I was going to. (I'm from Oklahoma) it was an amazing experience!!! Especially for the price. This 4 story museum has a LOT to see. I quite enjoyed the doll museum as well

Blue Star Mama

An interesting place to spend an hour on a hot afternoon. The museum itself was very detailed with lots of good signage. One star lost for the ¨non greeting¨ we received when we entered. There were two woman there and they never stopped talking to each other until I loudly said ¨Hello, how are you ladies today?" Reluctantly, they stopped talking to each other and greeted us. Yuck, where is that friendly customer service that everyone wrote about? 7.14.18 1pm There are three floors, an elevator and it´s disabled friendly with lots of space to move around. There are clean restrooms (but not if you hate clowns) and lots of parking. The prices to enter are very reasonable and there is a small gift shop. Not a place for children only because if they are very young, they may want to run around and touch things that are off limits. Otherwise, a good place for older kids.

Steven Myers

My son really had a great time at the past 2 workshops he has been too. Really hope for more in 2019.

Melissa W

Interesting facts. Totally worth the drive!

Sheila Owen

What a great museum! Way more to see than we expected. Exceptional value for such a large museum with so many different exhibits. I highly recommend this destination if you are looking for something out of the ordinary to do.

Michaela Hines

It was ok , definitely disappointed we drove over an hour to see it and it wasn’t that great. Some facts where interesting but it was dirty and disorganized and left a lot to be desired especially when comparing it to the Patee Museum .

Raina Hansen

Very interesting and macabre.

Michael Glore

It's Smithsonian Museum Day so the place was buzzing with activity.

Michelle Glass

Everything was nice. Didn't make it to 4th flr. Was expecting little more gore and old surgery tools etc.

E Bittner

Very educational. I am pretty aware of psychiatric care, but I was really educated on where we have come from. I didn’t realize how large these institutes were and how much work the patients did. I would have been interested in understanding more about why the change from institutions to localuzed care...the strengths and weaknesses and maybe what has gone wrong with the switch to localized care that they did not anticipate and maybe what needs to be fixed now—I realize that the museum is more about the history, than current, but I think it would be useful to also educate about the current plight of the mental health system now. This is kinda a hidden gem for the KC area. A key takeaway is from the intro film...these doctors were really trying to help. They get blamed for the horrible things done to people, but given what we know, they had the best intentions. While it often brought up schizophrenia, I think it would have been interesting to add parts that educate on other mental illnesses, and philosophies of care. If you have any interest in mental illness, this is a great place to go. I’ve been to museums all over the world, and never seen one like this.

Tracy Burton

Visited the museum bin August, a Saturday afternoon field trip for myself & daughter. She's wanted to visit for a long while, since she was a student at Northwestern Mo college. The 3 story building is a self walking tour of interest facts about the psy hosp & it's history in Missouri. There is a gift shop on the 1st floor, didn't really get to visit, but out front there were t- shirts to purchase. I would really like to have one , or buy on line. would like the t-shirt that says Dr. Freud of psychology.

Kim Wiley

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. It was made even better when I was told that 5 other museums were there and my ticket was good for all of them. The exhibits were very nice and very interesting. They had an elevator which really came in handy my disabled companion. Parking is close and free. I would highly recommend a visit to the Glore Psychiatric Museum.

Paul Butler

Terrific museum. Unusual and very interesting.

dany robertson

The place was pretty cool, but it just fell short of expectations. The psychology part of the museum was just so small yeah it has 4 floors but it very spread out, then the rooms that are interesting are very small and claustrophobic. The black and native American part just seems out of place. My suggestions are maybe to talk about some of the horrible experiments that happened like Stanford prison experiment. And may it would be nice to see and example of the wards instead of just the private rooms are some of the ethics of the time even going into new ethics like assisted suicide. The staff were very very friendly and it is a good musume.

JAIMIE B

Ok idk if it's learning about history and old methods of dealing with mental health issues or if i am the weirdo that likes this kind of stuff, as some of my family members suggested. But by seeing the number of visitors to Glore pychiatric museum i know i am not alone in finding these things very interesting. Some practices seem barbaric by today's standards that's for sure but some actually did work and helped pave the way for how we treat people with mental health issues today. It is a very clean and neatly laid out museum that has a total of 4 floors to discover. Most of it is about old pychiatric practices of treating people but on the 2nd floor there is also a small doll collection, african american art section and St. Joseph history area. It also has a neat gift shop with lots of interesting books both factual and funny, mugs, hats, shirts and other common gift shop gifts. It is super affordable at just $6 for adults, kids under 6 are free and seniors are $5. Clean bathrooms and elevators are available to access all floors to accomodate strollers or wheelchairs

Justa Me

I have been more than once for a reason... It's crazy cool!

Sassi D

Glad to have had the experience and equally glad that we didn't pay full price.

Mardi Welo

Scary treatments of history, kinder treatments from early 1900s, no longer used, very interesting displays. Hydrotherapy is effective for many ailments today. Sweat box, see photo, similar to sauna for one

David

This place is so cool! Went with my wife a few years ago. I could spend hours here....if the walls could only talk! I wish you could go to other parts of the property.

Amanda Theberge

2 adults 2 children for $20. Children under 6 free. Yes, I took 3 children under the age of 10 here and they came out just fine. They enjoyed the small archeological dig they had on the 2nd floor. The themed bathroom's are fun and the art evoked conversation.

Tim Whitson

Very educational, awareness raising, and informative. Mental health treatment sure has come a long way from the barbaric procedures of the past! Excellent value, very affordable for a family activity.

GTAInsane

Very nice place! Very friendly staff and well maintained museum. When you go there make sure to ask about the tunnel that used to lead into the prison. It is very interesting with fantastic artwork that people painted on the walls of the tunnel. I recommend this place if your looking for something to do. Excellent place!

Laura Pitts

Disappointed we didn't get to see it all. We got there two hours before it closed. If the people who worked there would've told us we needed more time we would've come back another day. Now I won't be back. I feel they just rushed us out.

Kathryn Blythe

Great place to visit

Pam Yurkovich

I really enjoyed it.

DL Harrison

Lots of history here and it's very interesting!

Doug Wells

It may seem gruesome, but an interesting place. I would recommend it for anyone looking for something different. You won't need a lot of time to go through the whole museum though.

Brenda Hoffman

Love it! Great museum. Wery interesting.

Patricia Gibson

Loved it. A lot of interesting information about the mental hospital

Nolan Christensen

Quality museum with a wide range of exhibits to see. I spent 3 hours here for $6- if that isn't value I don't know what is. Even got to see the tunnel. Very sobering displays with a clear look at how things worked back in the day. Lots of well-presented information and other sections that were focused on different topics. Great area. Would come by again.

Brian Howard

Very interesting presentations. Well worth checking out.

Terrie Davis

I am a nurse enjoyed the history of how they used to treat psychiatric patients years ago through surgical means. The exhibits of the many apparatus used to restrain a patient. It also had histories on the walls of the many drs that made phenomenal discoveries. Also housed here is the doll museum....disappointed as it was all Barbies. The negro museum and Indian museum..these two have room to grow. The negro museum was all about jazz and slavery. Indian museum had handmade clothing items, pottery things of that nature.

Leisa Hartley

Very interesting.

Alexis Stamatis

Eerie place that depicts an often gruesome history of mental health. My complaint is they have several rooms of miscellaneous history that isn't necessarily related to or distracts from the purpose of the museum.

Julio Marroquin

This is definitely one place is a must visit when you visit Missouri. Me and my family had a great time with all the exhibitions and great information that you learn all around this place. Definitely recommend it.

Melinda Saunders

Very interesting more than I expected!

Michael Reppond

Very fascinating place everyone should visit here

Bryan Arbogast

Awesome place. Lots of history and information

Anjee Shinkan

It was a drive for us to go visit, but a cool place to come and check out. Lots of interesting mental health history to soak up. Price is affordable and you can take your time and spend as little, or as long, as you want. It's crazy, if not a little frightening, to see what was once thought as therapy back in the day. Definitely an interesting piece of history to be seen here.

steve kellough

Definitely plan on spending a lot of time if you like to read and learn about everything. We went in on a Sunday at opening, and had to rush to leave before closing. There were so many things to look at and learn about. Several museums in one. Well worth the cheap price to get in. I could go on and on, but there really is too much to say. Go, enjoy.

Tyler Stone

This is a very educational and interesting museum. When you first arrive you are greeted by a friendly staff and they direct you to a 10 min introduction video. The museum itself had plenty to see and gave a good message of how life was before technology.

Maynard Rossen

Absolutely amazing how far treatment has come in the last 100 years. The practices in the past was pretty barbaric.

Chris Barton

We were traveling through and noticed a sign for the museum and decided to stop. It was a really interesting place to visit.

Sheena Woody

Amazing. Great history lesson. Sad and very emotional. The morgue... Just go yourself and you'll see. If you're interested in history and mental illness and slightly morbid things, highly recommended. Planning on going back again soon because we didn't have enough time.

Emiliano Vargas

Great experience! Several museums in one place. Don't forget to visit the morgue. Gift shop is over priced, however, I couldn't leave with out several souvenirs.

Andy Meyerhofer

A nice realization of what was going on during that time without being too graphic or disgusting at giving you good insight to the past

Elizabeth Turk

Pretty cool museum all about Missouri State rile in psych "therapies". Lots of info and recreations. Also cramped inside is 3 other exhibits.

Jason Trudell

Super AWESOME

Parks3

Fascinating to see a history of psychiatry encapsulated in an environment where technology and techniques were applied. Also interesting that it is directly adjacent to a currently working prison!

Angie Cakin

Interesting history of mental health services.

Daniel Swarts

This place is awesome! The admission price is well worth it. (Look for deals on Groupon as well). In addition to the psychiatric museum, there are 4 smaller museums inside dedicated to black history, native Americans, WW1 and dolls. Quite a mix! The staff we spoke with were friendly and knowledgeable. We spent about 4 hours here and did not see everything. The history of mental disorders and the progression of treatment were interesting. This is not a "shock" style scary place, but it is truly dedicated to mental patients and the doctors and nurses who treated them.

Luann Eggimann

Very disturbing. Well worth the time to see.

Eric Goddard

One of those little finds. Just passing through town on our way to Nebraska, saw a brochure and thought we would give it a go. We loved it, entertaining and educational, learned about the horror of early psych medicine. Very well done, hosts were pleasant. Spent some money in the store! Thank you.

Emily Stoner

Wow was this place amazing. Highly recommend! Drive an extra hour to see this and I'm so glad we did! So much history and information about mental health and the history of psych treatment!

mark s

Really neat place. Lots of information and nicely laid out. Well worth a visit.

Lauren H

I'm torn by how to rate this. Is there a better psychiatric museum out there? Probably not. Do barbie dioramas depicting old treatment methods take away from a museum's professional image? Definitely. What this museum does really well is educate without judgment. The 20 minute introductory film on the first floor helps to explain this purpose. Right away you're asked to set aside preconceived notions of psychiatric hospitals and their residents. Then, each display challenges you and broadens your view point. Some information is shocking, but it's not sensational. They reference specific, tragic cases, but it doesn't feel exploitative. To our modern eyes, some treatment techniques seem like torture, but for the most part, clinicians were searching for solutions. I have to admit that I was expecting a horror film environment, and I was quickly put in my place. This site is modern and clean. The sad reality, that I think this museum touches, is that we still understand very little about mental disease. At the end of the day, the museum presents facts without bias and asks you as the visitor to draw your own conclusion. It's obvious they don't have a huge budget, but they make do. This is probably not a great place to take young kids. TLDR: I think this was worth the drive from kansas city and price of admission. Get a Groupon voucher to save some cash.

Carla Carson

The displays were very interesting And educational over a span of time. Real tools, devices, and settings convey what it must have been like for doctors and patients alike. Some are a sad commentary on how the mentally ill were treated but in some cases only hindsight could have changed the treatment. All medical professionals would benefit from a visit to this museum.

Beth Moore

Crazy cool building!! I run paranormal investigations for Ghost Hunts USA and it is absolutely haunted here!! Love it!

Steven Henderson

Very educational though terrifying at times.

Cristil Rogers

Enjoyed all of the exhibits. It is a very interesting collection. The information provided is very thorough, but not too much. I would of liked it to of resembled more of the hospital it once was, but overall nice little museum.

Erin Mendoza

A little creepy but very cool! And I know it sounds weird... But check out the bathrooms on the different floors. Very weird and cool. Lol!

Rebecca Stein

Very interesting and educational. Disturbing how they were treated years ago. Glad to see they have made a lot of progress since then.

Adarius Wells

It was a pleasureable and amazing experience overall. There were multiple areas to explore and discover, and a really cool chance to learn/discover new things.

Robby Crane

Great staff, great exhibits. Loved every minute of it

Theresa Smith

That was a very fun place to explore.. Really enjoyed it.. Will tell all my friends to visit there.

Randy Jones

What a very interesting museum. We were pleasantly surprised. Low cos of $6 each. Don't miss the other museums attached. We really liked the black archives museum- especially the B/W photos. Parking available real close. Gps took us in a strange direction. It actually took us to the prison next door... don't enter the prison drive past the signs that discourage this.

Kristi Neuenfeldt

Fascinating museum, though be prepared for very heavy topics throughout. With your quite nominal admission fee you receive access to the Glore Psychiatric Museum, the St. Joseph Museum, the Black Archives and the Doll Museum. You could probably spend two full days exploring these museums and not see everything. Every exhibit has interesting things to read. There are fascinating things to learn at every turn.

Cruton Kappa123

Great accommodation for my semi-autistic friend Sam

Glen Guenther

This was very interesting if somewhat sad to see how some people with mental or emotional problems were treated in the past. We highly recommend it but it might be intense for some younger children. There's nothing frightening or scary here but the thought of what was done to some people to "cure" them might bother some children.

Chris Herrington

Very interesting

Frank Hutchens

It was cool. Lots of interesting items to see

Julian Silverman

Simply horrifying in a good kind of way. Lots of art by former residents, with tools and instruments right out of a horror movie. Simple layout with lots of stuff to see, just take everything with a grain of salt there is a lot of history not included on the signs!

Hava Wall

One of the employees was super nice to us! And she very enthusiastically suggested we watch a video to get the best experience. It was her enjoyment of the museum that I appreciated. I don't know her name but she was pushing a dust mop. I very much liked her thoughtfulness.

Micheal Vollrath

Fun strange place

Mark Jansen

What a really neat place to look at. It's well worth the trip just to walk around and see the drawings and paintings that have been done by the former inmates I guess you call him. Some of the old medical techniques and things that they did here are really kind of interesting to see also. It's well worth the time if you're in the area.

Xrayjim

Much information on treatment history. Very interesting with more content than expected. The adjacent museums in the next building were also well done.

Treyton Farley

Pretty neat not gonna lie.

Michael Alan Keenan

Great place! I learned so much in the two hours or so I took to go through it.

Tabitha Rowland

An extremely interesting, insightful - if not slightly macabre at times - place to visit. There is a lot to be learned here about the history of mental health treatment and services in Missouri (and the U.S. in general), and it is definitely unique! The exhibits are "in a class of their own", so to speak. As for it being haunted, that's for you to decide!

John Perry

Interesting place. You should visit if ever in the area.

Elizabeth Brugh

It is housed with a few other museums. A little outdated but still very informative.

Christina Taylor

Worth the drive for sure. Took older kids and everyone loved it. Very educational and creepy at the same time. The bathrooms all had different themes. It's also very affordable!

josh hadley

Pretty cool place. They have a couple of floors with the history and practices performed. Only 6$ for adults as of 2018.

Lisa Cornwell

Not too expensive, cute little gift shop. Lots of things to see

Debbie Norris

This is very interesting and well worth the money

Lisa McCrary

Great place to learn a lot of interesting things about St. Joseph

stacy jesseph

This place has the potential to be very cool and creepy during the month of October when we chose to go see it! It was a little disappointing but overall a fun place to go and just check out. Priced good and lots to see... I was just hoping for a little more of how they described the museum. More psychiatric stuff and less dolls and other displays they also have.

Vicki Kramer

Great museum to visit. Not recommended for young children. There are three smaller museums in a different wing & they were enjoyable but not much there really. The psychiatric museum was awesome! Four floors of psychiatric history complete with photos, devices, equipment, & patient art. Basement floor has original morgue. Very interesting place to visit and the admission price is nominal.

jennifer kar

Interestingly presented without ghoulish melodrama or creepy atmosphere! Highly recommended!

Bridget Boss

Not as good as it use to be. To cold

Chris Coffman

A great look into mental illness, treatments, and life for people in these facilities from a historical standpoint.

Wendy Reynolds

Really cool place.
