This is one of the best museums of art I have been to. Their after hours are a must for young and old.
Love this place...so beautiful and peaceful
Terrible service
It has a nice interior. It's probably best when you're going for an event because the actual art selection is relatively small. They hold fun events though, and looking into it is a good idea
Great
Very unique and engaging - loved it!
Peaceful and nice exhibits
Lots of fantastic art and they host really fun events every third Thursday! It has something for everyone
Beautiful place
Love it!
Great museum, beautiful exhibits. Great place that's kid-friendly and had lots of interactive exhibits for kids. Special events scheduled through the month. And it's FREE!!
Well-maintained with a great layout and friendly staff. A wonderful blend of art and history, arts of all kinds from different styles and times of the world.
Always awesome!
Very impressive!
excellent place to visit!
They try hard to have good exhibits. They need more money from donations for promotions.. Nice people
Beautiful Decor for this event
It is quiet, a great collection of fine art and a nice restaurant
What a wonderful museum. Its current exhibit mixes history and art. Will definitely be going back for regular visits.
Wonderful experience. Very fun and educational. Great personnel. We will definitely attend the next event
Close by parking places, wonderful play space for small kids, good exhibits.
Loved the keole singing excellent
Very interesting. Lots of history.
Beautiful artwork
(Translated by Google) Quite interesting, and especially the especially friendly people. (Original) Bastante interesante, y sobre todo la gente especialmente amable.
Great place to visit.
It was ok. Its free so no complaints
Neat museum and a good experience. Wasn't expecting much but it was definitely worth the stop. Interesting local pieces on display.
My favorite place in Jackson! Beautiful art and friendly staff!
Amazing artwork and friendly staff.
I loved the fact that it was free, photos are allowed, and all the artwork is from Mississippi artists. I showed up about 40 minutes before close and no one tried to rush me out or follow me around like at other art places I have been. This is a neat little place to visit when in Jackson.
I love the exhibits but I also love the cafe. I chef is awesome. Every 3 week of the month there is a custom menu. Favorite time to visit.
Great exhibit
Very friendly staff. There was an area for the kids as well, which made the visit more easy for the family. It is free to see and definitely worth a stop!
Great little museum in the heart of Jackson. They have awesome events here - e.g. family movie screenings. There are a bunch of kids sections and the special exhibits were always great and educational. In one exhibit the artist played with shapes to form art from shadows. The picture is one example from that temporary collection
Coming back to it!!
My nephew and niece worried me, so we finally stopped. They had a great time and got to learn a little about cotton, the Mississippi Delta, and they got to see some pretty cool art. I'll be taking them periodically as the new collections come to the museum.
First time here, I'm from Houston. Go to the museum to join the Muslim Festival in Mississippi. Before I dance, I tour the museum. Do not know how much the ticket price for entry, I found Pablo Picasso. Not that crowded as Museum Fine Arts in Houston thoug.
Great local musuem. Exhibits are high quality and have great production values.
Super helpful staff and they do lots of events!
Awesome events.
Mainstay in my life
Fun place, nice art.
Loved it! The museum is small but well curated and free.
This is a dynamic arts museum, where is Marty Stuart Museum?
My dad works for them
If you want an art museum in Jackson, this is it. They have some nice stuff.
Gem in downtown Jax this place has awesome art and it's free??
Lovely outing with my daughter.
This place packs a surprisingly large punch. The space itself is beautiful, and the exhibition was quite stirring. The lady who issued my ticket was more than friendly, she says genuinely hospitable.
Great place for all ages. Rotating exhibits require a ticket, but the front areas of the museum are free of charge. Once a month, "Music in the City" is free on a Tuesday night which features great classical or folk music. It is co-sponsored by St. Andrew's Cathedral. There are art camps for kids and "after hour" events once a month on Thursdays ... still free.
My daughter had art show here clean nice place
Nice, interesting ; just all around fun place to take your family and friends.
Nice place 2 visit
Interesting collection, very knowledgeable staff
I love to rump through the garden.
Nice little museum with a couple of good kids corners.
The Mississippi Museum of Art has, in addition to displaying world class art exhibits and presenting various events, hosts local artists as they teach, demonstrate and mentor attendees. This small museum is an excellent visitation spot for tourists to Jackson, Mississippi.
A small museum that packs a big punch! Go and be pleasantly surprised by the quality of exhibits and frienlyness of the staff!
Awesome art on view and lots of free public programs
Best ever
nothing short of fantastic
Fun fun fun
Concept Art
Had a really nice time when I stop threw and I got to snap a few really good photos
Great museum! Worth a family outing to view the various exhibits!
Great people's!!!
Friendly staff
Always a great place to visit!
Great exibit going on celebrating the 200th anniversary of Mississippi. All of the art on display now has some relationship to the state. Was free for us, dont know if that is because the anniversary or not.
Food truck festival was awesome
No exhibits were open and there is no longer a cafe. Very disappointing
Great variety, super helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Art handler for the company. Beautiful art to see and learn about
Mississippi Museum of Art is a wonderful place to visit both as an individual and as a family. It is a beautiful part of Jackson MS!
Great exhibits
Awesome! !
One of my favorite places in Jackson. The fountains, garden, and of course the art...all must see !
Came during one of their "Art and Coffee" events, and it was very excellent. The staff makes you feel welcome, the speaker was very interactive and informative while also providing great insight to the history and culture of the pieces presented.
This museum looks like a cool place, but unfortunately when I went to visit all but one gallery was closed for construction to install new exhibits. It seems like poor planning to be installing multiple exhibits at once in such a small museum.
Nice setting for a wedding
Wonderful display of high school artistic winners. Incredible talented young people, I was just blown away!
Fantastic local art.
Nice place
Good collection on loan at the moment. Friendly staff.
Most of this museum is free and we saw some really neat pieces. Has a shop and a cafe. The kids enjoyed looking at the art and splashing in the water out front.
Excellent experience...
Great museum and book store.
Enjoyed the group activities. Lunch, tour and painting.
Fun visit to the Museum of Art! It has a couple of floors of art work, paintings, and sculptures to walk through. Interesting works with some very original sculptures. It has a beautiful garden outside coupled with a small fountain garden. Its open to the public located in the heart of Jackson Downtown, its worth a visit
Kids programs are fabulous. Third Thursday programs are lovely.
They have new exhibits now go and
FABULOUS and an amazing day to visit. April 5, 2019
Planetarium is cool
Nice place to visit it's very interesting
Great place to hold an outdoor event. I've been to the movie and food truck events here in the last 2 years, it's been wonderful. Plenty of seatings and the food trucks have been great!
I very much enjoyed my visit. The staff was very kind and helpful. While they are a smaller museum they have several interactive sections for guests which I can see would be very helpful for those with children. They had great parking. They also had beautiful gardens and the museum had a few tables set aside, in the cafe, for those who wished to draw.
Wonderful museum. Something for all ages to enjoy.
Loved it
Very friendly staff willing to discuss the exhibit and even gave of information about the viewing benches designer. The grounds were excellent as well.
Quaint little museum; very nice
Stimulating exhibit! Knowledgeable staff. Expert curator!
This is the premier museum in Mississippi. I'm a regular, but visitors are often amazed at the quality of the exhibits, staff, not to mention the food. Currently there is an exhibit called When Modern Became Contemporary that you should not miss. The facility is great for events such as Company parties, weddings and other special events. It's very cool to hold an event and have the ability walk-through a top-notch museum at your own pace. There are numerous events each week, but my favorite is probably Third Thursday which is held in the adjacent Art Garden and features local bands, special food and drinks, and is a really good time. Don't miss it!
It was spacious and well organized. I loved the quilt exhibit based on slavery times--very bold. Also featured was a MS born native American artist that was very interesting. Depending on your level of interest you can probably make it through thi exhibit in about an hour.
Wonderful display of high school artistic winners. Nice, interesting ; just all around fun place to take your family and friends.
Incredible exhibits!
Beautiful Place, Must visit if you’re in Jackson!
I love the great art paintings and the things I learned was Great knowledge. .
Nice people, but most of the gallery was closed for updates
Love it
I think this is the best place in Jackson to do something. Excellent arts !
I am an intern there, so maybe I am a little biased, but the staff is awesome and they really do try to make interesting programs for community outreach
Good artwork
Great space and collection, downtown location
The MMA is one of my favorite places to spend time in Jackson. I've been coming to the museum long before I moved here. They offer world-class travelling exhibits and have a permanent collection of fantastic art by Mississippi artists/relating to Mississippi. The art garden is excellent. Classes and events for children, adults, students, and the whole family are top notch. The facility and grounds are immaculate. Art is presented well. Special events are plentiful and inviting. I have a membership to the museum, which is not expensive and offers all sorts of extra perks, discounts and exclusive viewings of working studios and private collections around town. The museum is a popular place for weddings, chamber music, and high-end receptions. It is worth going out of your way to see the collection and attend an event if you are in Central Mississippi.
Very beautiful place! The grounds are extremely well maintained where there's a lovely garden with a walking path throughout, the exterior is very nicely architected, and the whole thing just gives an air of beauty and tranquility. And I haven't even toured the museum yet! I've only gone there for events on the lawn and Art After Hours on every third Thursday of every month.
The museum has a GREAT silhouette exhibit. I was grateful for their free admission, free wifi and areas to lounge. The gardens are beautiful. I would definitely recommend visiting the museum.
The Art Museum is a great place to explore and enjoy exhibits and art work . But I really enjoy the level of service they offer for groups or individuals who choose to rent spaces for special events. It is absolutely awesome and they offer a variety of menus for every occasion. The fees and prices are easy to view on their website. Menu options and request are made after contacting the Museum by phone or email probably.
Very friendly helpful staff. What we saw was beautiful but we were one day early for the reopening of most of the exhibits. Hope to revisit one day in the near future.
Beautiful museum and very accessible. Love how much it supports the community.
Came here for the rasisim stayed here for my cousin
Awesome performance
(Translated by Google) A museum that we recommend to visit is very beautiful. (Original) Un museo che consigliamo di visitare è molto bello.
A nice place to spend the day.
Not many exhibits at all.
A-/for the facilities. Attended wedding reception and tore a hole in a pair of suit pants on one of the chairs /D. 0verall rating (C+)
Awesome art museum. I'm not from Jackson, but come over for a weekend getaway every now & then. Love to stop here & check it out. The building & grounds are super cool too!
Loved it! A gem in Jackson where adults and kids will both find interesting things to check out.
Nice little museum. They have a Warhol of the triple evlis.
Very nice! Small and relaxing. Perfect for a date or just to explore what our city has to offer.
Great display of local and international artists. I always love going to the Third Thursday events when the MMA is open late for a gathering of arts, music, and creatives. There's also a good restaurant and beautiful gardens.
A great getaway without leaving town!
Quiet peaceful history lesson
Always a good place to see Mississippi art
Nice to visit when in Jackson. The restaurant is quite good too.
Beautiful museum. Outstanding pieces of art. Must see in Jackson.
I really enjoyed the exhibit and I loved that they had some very kid friendly activities. We journaled, admired art, got to see cotton from another perspective, learned about lines, and had fun in the water fountain mosaic. It really was a great way to spend the day enriching ourselves and it didn't cost an arm and leg. Plus the museum had some inexpensive items at the gift shop.
Art nice, parking hard to find, wife draged me along.
We travel all over the country and try to see as many art museums as possible. A few have stood out for the objects and the curating and the MMA has been added to our list of favorites. From the outside art garden (which we did not spend much time in because it was raining) to the wonderfully light filled atrium at the entrance to the displays this was a visit we thoroughly enjoyed. We were there for the exhibit called picturing Mississippi which only runs until July 8, 2018 so if you can get to it, do. They have events all the time and a very good gift shop with lots of art and nice gifts.
Black Out is a great exhibit!
Gorgeous gardens outside, but not much to look at inside.
This is one of my favorite places to take family and friends.
This is the city of Jacksons official premiere art museum. They don't have big premieres often but have been allowed by many foreign governments and museums to use their big name artists pieces. They've even been known to get some Van Goughs and such.
I enjoyed it. I spent 3 hours here!
This is one of my fav things to do in Mississippi. I loved all the lovely dinners I have been to here. Def a wonderful place to host parties and events
A great place to visit on a Saturday morning
Amazing historical art from New artist and old alike... If your in to art or history I definitely recommend the Mississippi museum of art!!
You can always count on the current exhibit being exceptional.
I remember coming here while I was very young for The Palace Exhibit despite what any New Yorker's opinion of our state or art this place is 5 star. Very education and the tour and staff were very professional.
Great area, easy parking. Gardens could be expanded, they are the best. Front desk older gentlemam is very helpful.
Cool place and it's free
