REVIEWS OF Delta Blues Museum IN Mississippi

Jimmy Lange

Delta Blues Museum is a pearl. Just a couple of minutes from the Blues highway, it has some interesting props. However, the most interesting things for me in these kind of museums are the stories. They have some awesome stories, and a more elaborate one regarding Muddy Waters. Check it out yourselve, I’d say it is definitely worth it. Oh and walk a bit in the neighbourhood, because it all looks like a movie set to me!

Dale Monroe

The museum is not very large but I could have easily spent 3 hours there. It contains a wealth of blues history. There are numerous video displays featuring interviews or performances. Most of the exhibits require you to read in order to understand the significance of a particular exhibit. I'm willing to bet that you'll learn a lot if that's what you want to do. Nice facility, helpful, kind staff.

Anna Wysocki

Lots of amazing history.

Jan van der Heide

Leuk museumpje. Als bluesfan waarschijnlijk geweldig. Vind het wel leuk.

Charlotte Ornemark

A must see in this area!

Pretty nice museum with some really interesting artifacts. It could be a little bit more organized

Adam

I would call it more of a collection than a museum (especially when compared to the B.B King museum in Indianola). It has a very large collection of blues memorabilia but very little information about each artist except for Charles Musselwhite who has entire section.

Zoran Micevic

Charlotte Bailey

I love this place

Lisa Runnels

Awesome food and drink and had an awesome time!

Gabriel Muñoz

Los entendidos del blues no pueden fallar en la visita de la meca de este estilo de música. Se encuentra en una zona de la auténtica América profunda. Calles de película.

Clarksdale, home of the blues

Hugo Hackenbush

$10 admission. Plan on 1 hour. Muddy Waters childhood home (log cabin) is the key attraction. Various outfits worn by blues performers, kiosks providing background on them, and various artifacts / instruments/ personal items.

Tom Moss

I love the blues and this was a great venue, to connect people with all of the blues history and tradition found in the Clarksdale area

Bryce Caster

A small museum honoring the Blues and its roots in the Mississippi Delta. Hopefully they can expand with more exhibits.

Tim Palmer

The museum includes a collection of memorabilia from iconic blues legends through the ages. There are signed guitars, suits and dresses, travel gear, and much more. There displays are free-standing, tall cases with informational signage. They even have larger items like Muddy Waters' log cabin! When I was there they appeared to be planning an expansion into new galleries. My self guided tour took an hour or so. If you love the blues you simply cannot miss this place.

Amelia Cooper

Very interesting and informative

(Translated by Google) Very beautifull! Small but very nice, with guitars, clothes and much more. You can't take pictures inside. To see absolutely. Even Clarksdale is very pretty and if possible it is worth thinking about spending an evening in some club in the city. (Original) Bellissimo! Piccolo ma molto bel curato, con chitarre, vestiti e tanto altro. Non si possono fare foto all'interno. Da vedere assolutamente. Anche Clarksdale è molto carina e se possibile vale la pensa passare una serata in qualche locale della città.

Roni Keini

(Translated by Google) It is worth going. We were alone visiting the museum, with background blues music that is activated from one of the information posters. I loved it. (Original) Merece la pena ir. Estábamos solos visitando el museo , con música de blues de fondo que se activa desde uno de los carteles de la información. Me gustó mucho.

Michiel Appelman

Beautiful museum that we enjoyed every inch of. A must-see while visiting Clarksdale.

david smith

I always make it a priority to stop at the Delta Blues Museum when in the Memphis area. They have displays of major Blues legends as well as many others. If you love the Blues it has to be on your list of places to visit. Outstanding!

Billie Hilliard

It was awesome, but a real shame that we couldn't take pics. It would've been nice if they would've at least had a book with pictures of the exhibits or a cool photo prop set up.

Leonardo Borges

A great heart for a small place. Everything about the history of the blues art in the region and in Mississippi also. So many curiosities of local artists and a lot of good music is waiting for you there. Don't touch the pieces, don't take pictures of some parts and have a great time at Delta Blues Museum.

L8G

I love the Delta.

George Clark

A destination attraction for those who like blues, R&B, and the roots of rock. Set in an old railroad depot, this museum celebrates the Delta blues and its influence. We weren't sure if it was open when we pulled up because you can't see people inside from the parking lot. But don't be deterred. It was open. Lots of memorabilia, a great place where I leaned the names of many new-to-me classic and more recent artists and learned more about those who are more widely known. Painted gas can "Chikan" guitars were a fun visual highlight. The gift shop had some nice quilted items referring back to a famous blues railroad intersection--where the Southern meets the Dog. The t-shirts were good, but honestly, I preferred the more colorful ones at the Tunica County highway visitor's center. You wouldn't expect that, so if you're traveling south from Memphis, don't pass up the Tunica "shack." Only four stars because photography is prohibited. I hope they change this because people would like to be able to show their friends pictures and encourage them to come. Enjoy your visit to this town that is rich in history, music, and spirit.

A small museum, but it has a great display of Blues music artifacts and memorabilia. It is located only about 100 feet from the Ground Zero Blues Club, so this is a good place to spend some time in the morning or afternoon while you are waiting for things to get underway at Ground Zero. This museum is definitely a must-see attraction for any Blues music afficianado, and since you most likely traveled some distance to get to Clarksdale, tàke the time to go through the Delta Blues Museum. I visited in the spring of 2019, and as I recall, admission was about 8 or 9 dollars, so very reasonable. As you might expect, they have a small gift shop in which you can find unique Blues related souvenirs.

Keith Davis

Very much worth the drive. The Malaco room was impressive, as was the (temporary, I think) Muddy Waters exhibit. And so many great places to eat and hear live music nearby!

David Pederson

Loved it.

Mark Pillow

Very interesting. Take your time. Lots to see and learn.

(Translated by Google) This museum, where you can find blues where the American National Archives managed to enter and the sections of Muddy Waters' life, is a nice stop for music lovers. The American National Archives and the sections of Muddy Waters' life. Nice Museum complete with Muddy Waters cabin and a Lomax recording vehicle on display. Lomax was the Smithsonian sponsored ambassador hired to record the native artists who were creating the blues.

Heith McCracken

This place is awesome. I came to Clarksdale to visit a family member not knowing anything about the area. This museum filled me in on so much Blues history, as well as some of the local history. I would recommend this place to any person visiting, whether you like blues or not.

jonathan alamo sanchez

Michael Yokitis

Really enjoyed it, but it seemed a bit disjointed to me . . . it didn't start w/ history & context of the culture leading up to the blues, rather, the exhibits started with local bluesmen right after you entered. But it was great to see a bunch of the exhibits, esp the Muddy Waters cabin.

Lee Moore

This is my birth place & I KNOW a lots of history about the delta & that is why I love.the blues museum

This place is well worth a visit. It will take you about an hour to walk around the museum. Lots of information and interesting displays, including the most prominent figures of the genre, and also tracing the Delta blues style all the way back to its roots. Gift shop had a really good selection for fair prices too.

Arin Canbolat

Really great museum. Lots of history around the blues and Clarkesdale's impact on it. It focuses by artist which is a unique perspective. They are working on a Muddy Waters exhibit which even partially completed is really great.

Shay Ellis

Beautiful exhibit, very knowledgeable staff as well. Loved it!

Gary Guthrie

As far as the span of eras and styles of Blues is concerned, this is a worthwhile stop, especially the new annex with the Muddy Waters cabin. Better aligned with the musicologist than the tagalong.

Some really interesting bits and I left with a long list of artists and albums that I will research more. As a slight negative, and similarly to a few museums I've visited recently, there isn't much overall narrative so it might be a bit hard to follow if you have no prior background knowledge.

David Nichols

Loved the experience

Crystal McDaniel

Great insight into the birth of the blues

Jasper Schaap

Nice museum containing a lot of blues icons. What is currently missing is a proper story / timeline. Only the information a bout Muddy Waters provides a good amount of context. Therefore it is more of an 'art' museum. I have understood there are plans to change that in the future.
