REVIEWS OF The New England Quilt Museum IN Massachusetts

The temporary display had the theme of 'Threads of Resistance'. If you like and/or support Donald Trump, I would not recommend seeing this part. There was a separate section of the 'Threads of Resistance' that was borderline pornographic. If one dislikes Donald Trump, this could be for you. Personally,

Sheila Mcintosh

Laura Lane

Antique and contemporary quilts in exhibits that change 4 to 6 times yearly.

Staff were friendly

Only stopped into the store to kill a bit of time. Friendly staff and a lot of fun products and materials for sale in a good range of budgets. My daughter (7), loved it.

Wonderful exhibit always changing

Some interesting quilts, but not an extensive museum. Not enough explanation of the actual making of the quilts. No demonstrations (actually no staff at all!), Means it was less worthwhile than it could have been. You'll be round the museum in less than an hour.

I've visited twice, and both times they had amazing exhibits that were inspiring and thought provoking. save time to go through their library too, it's worth a visit!

Betty Horne

Kathryn Leblanc

Several good exhibits, including different mediums of art quilting, thought provoking exhibit on guns/gun violence and miniature quilts. The gun exhibit wasn't ideally what we would've preferred to have seen, however the other exhibits were wonderful. It is a nice little museum, honoring, celebrating and preserving our craft. Will definitely go back for future exhibits. Very reasonably priced.

Barbara Ganley

Great experience, seeing old and new quilts, and the different ways and patterns for Quilting. Pleasant atmosphere

David Warren

My wife loves this place and I've seen some interesting quilts.

Make sure you call them they are closed a lot

Donna Mitchell

Interesting quilts in a rotating exhibit, not very large so it doesn't need to take much time. I had been once before a few years ago, and these were totally different than the ones I saw last time. I got some ideas for things to do myself. In the library, there were donated magazines and books for sale at reasonable prices. I bought several books to expand my horizons.

Amber Lavallee

I've been to this museum twice now, a few years apart. Absolutely love the display of quilts, was almost completely different the second time I went. Very relaxing to walk through and they have a beautiful array of quilts.

Wonderful staff. Quilts are very nicely displayed.

The museum is beautiful and the quilts on exhibit are wonderful but for the fact that there is lots of space there should be more to see. The gift shop has more space than the actual museum exhibition area.

Dat Mann

When I accidently got locked inside the building overnight there was plenty of blankets to keep me warm.

The New England Quilt Museum has some truly amazing historical and contemporary pieces; however, my heart sunk when viewing the piece, "Village Nucleus", an African style quilt created by a white woman. There is a true cultural history of African American quilts as well as a number of black quilters that could display their own cultural pieces. Although the quilt was wonderfully crafted, it stood Iout abrasively. I couldn't help but notice the lack of diverse contemporary quilters represented in the current exhibition room.

a treasure for our history and culture, please visit if at all interested, you wont be disappointed

Wonderful museum, changing exhibits throughout the year.

I love seeing history through domestic arts - women may not have had the vote but politics were represented in their handiwork. Seeing the evolution of quilts from practical reusing of scraps elevated to art is fascinating. Very friendly staff, welcoming, helpful. Plenty of parking on street.

A must see! You will not be disappointed. Would love to go back and see the quilts again. Fabulous!!! Go before the show comes down. An intimate museum with a generous size quilt library. Friendly staff. Stocked shop with grab bags for $3-8. Fun. Pictured are one of a great collection not to be missed!!! A jewel of a museum, introducing a folk art form of great beauty. Saw 2 great shows, including one on gun ownership & gun violence: kudos! Extensive museum shop.

Went here for a school project. I'm not going to lie, I thought it was going extremely lame. Boy was I wrong. The artist on exhibit had quilts that looked like paintings. They were amazingly detailed and beautiful. The staff was so excited to talk about any exhibit. I actually learned a lot about quilts and how they were and still used as a means for women to express their views on many topics women weren't generally allowed to express. So if you're near Lowell, go check it out. The price is reasonable to get in and you're in for a surprise on the quilts.

They don't have a lot but what they did have was impressive. One portion was not appropriate, top political for my liking.

Fabulous. Always changing. Excellent place to visit

Jody Mellinger

Small museum that does not take much time to see. There was an exhibit at the time of my visit focused on the natural resource water. I would not consider the quilts in this display traditional quilts, but excellent displays of fiber art using many different art techniques to tell a story. Very beautiful detailed and time consuming work. There was also a small display of the traditional quilts from the 1800's and early 1900's. Nice gift shop with a variety of quilt and sewing related gifts available.
