REVIEWS OF Springfield Museums IN Massachusetts

Travelers, this is a great place to walk around and enjoy the art work. The collections are wonderful. I enjoy the Currier and Ives exhibit but there are many. The Dr Seuss garden is a great place for kids. This is a jewel in Springfield. We recommend.

Janet Sparks

5 museums within one block, definitely worth your time yo step into the ages of history and into the world of Dr Seuss :)

Jessica Coelho

My 6 year old and 1 year old girls loved the Toytopia exhibit and the Dr Seuss museum. I wish we had more time to explore the rest of the museums but my daughters were quite happy just to do those two experiences in under 2 hours.

Eileen French

Great for adults and kids alike. The museums are wonderful and there are plenty of things to keep kids interested.

joaquin quiles

It's a beautiful, wonderful, place for the families with children.

Rhonda Andreani

The Springfield Art Museum in a setting with several other museums, including science and Dr. Seuss,is a hidden gem. Small but strong collection. Very excited to see an Alice Trumball Mason painting there. Went to see the Elizabeth Bishop show which was extraordinary. Lovely fine art and fun place. Cafe food was pretty good. Friendly staff and many choices as to what to see. Definitely worth a visit!!!

Rigin V.P.

Awesome space ...5 museums I took my kid on his birthday.... and he enjoy the whole day spending there

St. Mary's Media Ministry Office

Great place to spend the day with family, friends, or a date! So much to see for everyone regardless of age. Even though we got there right when it open we still weren't able to see everything,. We plan to go back and view some of the collections that we weren't able to see from the first visit. Highly recommend this if your looking for a day trip. The Dr. Seuss museum is also a must. A lot of hands on activities for kids. Enjoy the photos!

W.Sabrina-Thandeswa El'X

First Time. I love my photographer.

Lisa Bouchard

I went to the museum with my grandson and it was awesome to see it.

Shiri Dori-Hacohen

Very nice way to spend the day with young kids. Just don't expect a big-city-level museum.

Sonia Vasquez

It was a good to take the kid.

Godfrey Redfearn

I confess: I found the website confusing as to why it could cost $25 to visit The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum in Springfield, MA. As it was described in the newspaper, it wasn't a huge museum--so how could it cost $25? When I arrived and parked in the free parking lot (always a plus with me) and crossed the street to the main entrance, I still didn't get it. Then the lady explained that the cost gives access to five museums, covering art, history, science, and...well, Dr. Seuss. I was able to take in three of them: Seuss' splendiferous setting along with the Science Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts.

Larry Hazen

Loved loved loved it!!! 4 year old grandson was whoooo'd by it all!!!

Nancy Huntington

Love this place! 5 amazing museums plus free parking for one price. Something for everyone - art, history, science & kid stuff. Highly, highly recommend!

Jamaal Straker

Great planetarium and dinosaur exhibit! Would definitely go back

Nadine Barnett

Several buildings with their own themes. The ladies selling admission were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the museum setup. They recognized it was our first time there and gave us tips. We only went to 3 museums, the art museum with the sculptures was our fav as well as the Japanese history room.

Katherine Dusenberry

My son loves it..so much fun.

Stefany Santini

Very cute museum but when I went, it was a bit too crowded. Great time seeing ice sculptures outside at the time though!

Paul Smith

Patti Hoffman

Great Van Gogh exhibit

Alexis Aragon

Greatest place for kids and adults all round.

Fawn Horner

The Science museum was not as hands-on as I would have liked. There were lots of buttons to push to hear animal noises, but not as many interactive exhibits. It was more like a natural history museum with many animal habitat dioramas. We did not visit any of the art museums during this visit. Toytopia was by far our favorite exhibit at the Springfield History Museum. Very interactive and nostalgic.

Kendra Hammond

Wonderful day trip offering world class art exhibits and intriguing hands on natural history within a well designed art complex.

Maria Pabon

Loved all history there truly enjoyed it all.

Taryn Prout

I enjoy the museum, it is pricey if you are not a resident of Springfield. The museums are very busy during school vacations, but thats when they have the most activities. The toytopia exhibit is great, my favorite in a while. Staff at front desk are always courteous and helpful!

Amy Macedo

5 museums for 1 price!!! Which museum was unique and special. We only had the chance to visit Three museums, because we spent so much time studying the exhibit in each one. We cannot wait to go back and visit the Doctor Seuss Museum again, and visit the two we were unable to see! it was a miserable rainy day, but we still had a chance to enjoy a little bit of the garden and hope to visit on a sunny day so we can explore a little more. Definitely a worthwhile family road trip!

Heather Bang

We go here every year. Always have a wonderful time.

Stefanie Emmerich

Only visit the park, price for the museums is to much. They should offer tickets die each museum.

Lisa Moreau

As a whole, the grouping of museums is a great way to spend the day with the family checking out a variety of different exhibits in numerous forms. I loved the art museum and the history museums the best, but the science museum was lackluster and the Dr. Suess museum had a four hour wait to get in, so we bypassed that particular museum. Hats off to the city of Springfield for putting together such an engaging and whimsical series of museums assured to captivate every member of the family.

Jim Mullen

An outstanding museum of Springfield history. Well presented and covers the growth and development of the city. Interesting to everyone but the accuracy of the changes, at least in my lifetime, are meaningful and accurate. Well worth the price of admission.

Heather C

I just love visiting! Every time I come I discover new things and learn interesting facts. You can spend a literal day here, and it has something for everyone!

Jacquelyn Domaingue

Delightful way to spend an afternoon! Kids will enjoy everything the museums have to offer, especially going through the Dr. Seuss Museum. Well worth the admission price.

Danielle Hardie

The Springfield museums has so much to see! The exhbits are really great. The Dr. Seuss museum is interactive, and great for kids. There are so many exhibits to visit that it can be an all day affair or greay make for multiple small day trips. The exhibits are diverse too, so there is something for everyone.

Linda Baron

Loved everything went around at my own pace so much to see and learn about.

Robyn Edwards

You pay $25 and get to tour all of the museums (so worth the money). So much to see and take in. I enjoyed my day and highly recommend visiting if ever you're in the Springfield area.

Andrew Woulfin

Really awesome place to go in Springfield MA. Take the time and go to the museum or just explore the Dr Suess sculpture garden

Christopher Black

Quality pieces that are well displayed. The manufacturing history in Springfield is rich and varied and the museums do an excellent job of representing them. We enjoyed the Dr. Seuss museum and park as well.

Cindy

Beautiful old buildings fill with fascinating stuff! Sections dedicated to Springfield, MA history of Indian Motorcycle, beginnings of Basketball, Friendly Ice Cream, Underground Railroad. Planetarium. Outside exhibit of Dr Seuss statuary. Totally worth a trip!

Eddie Rentas

Great place to teach ur family about Springfield's history

Darlene Campagna

Very exciting and informative. Loved the science and Dr Suess museums the best. I will be going back again.

Vikki Holmes

All in one place. Lots to see

Donna Mitchell

Great museums. So much to see that we couldn't see it all, though we tried. We went on a Free Fun Friday, so there were a lot of people, but the museum staff did a great job handling the crowds and planning extra fun activities. I enjoyed my ride around the quadrangle on Thomas the Train, which is not a usual attraction. I especially enjoyed the new Dr. Seuss exhibit and wished some of my grandchildren could have seen it.

Kerri Baker

Great day of family fun!

Michelle W

Diane Lareau

Maggy 611

Great place to visit! Family friendly. Lot's of interactive exhibits as well as interesting traveling exhibits. "5 museums in one place!" They also offer enriching lectures and classes for adults.

Davi Smitti

Five different museums are in this complex. They are located around a lovely little sculpture garden, populated with characters from dr. Seuss stories. The Doctor Seuss museum is the smallest of the five, with children's activities regularly gone going in the basement level, a very kid-friendly first floor, and the second floor is more adult oriented, with memorabilia Ted Geisel. The two art museums have holdings that range from statues, Japanese or Chinese armor, a nice Oriental collection, and then an art collection that ranges from 18th to 20th century, a great collection. The science museum is well done, with dinosaurs and a kid friendly environment. The Museum of Springfield history was amazing, who knew that Springfield was the only place in the United States to make Mercedes automobiles? In addition, Springfield was the home of Indian motorcycles, firearms, and much more. We enjoyed this much more than anticipated, do not skip this place. The entire complex is wheelchair-friendly. Budget at least a half a day or longer for this delightful museum cluster.

Jason Lambert

The Dr Seuss museum is really fun for all ages. My teenagers enjoyed it.

Mark Critelli

Gary Belanger

5 different and unique museums all located together. Nice sculpture garden where you can also sit and relax. Reasonable priced. Highly recommended.

Donald G Lagasse

What a delightful, intelligent, bucolic location. I can't recommend enough, coming here as an individual, a family or a larger tour group, there is something for everyone of every age and of every interest. You could take a day or two or three to try to see everything. It all depends on you and what's your goal is. Some of the exhibits are Hands-On and you could spend an hour or two without even leaving a single room. Or you can stroll through the galleries and enjoy wonderful artworks. Take a walk down history Lane, bring the children go see some natural history and learn about New England Woods, or the dinosaurs, are the great flying machines. No trip for the young and old would be complete without visiting the great Dr. Seuss area. For the Young and the young at heart create new memories or bring up old memories that you will enjoy their wonderful place to be. they have a nice cafe can be located in the center of all the activities along with a wonderful outdoor Central Park which feature some Dr. Seuss bronze statues as well. Easy access handicap friendly in many places. Well worth the price of admission. If my review helped you please give it a thumbs up. Enjoy your visit.

Romeo Vellutini

There are 5 museums and some were surprisingly good. The city of Springfield museum was the best. The city has a rich history: Indian motorcycles, Smith and Wesson, as well as some early automobiles. The Dr. Seuss museum is also very good, and not just for kids. The city obviously played a large roll in his youth and is prevalent in his work.

Lila Harrich

Several museums in one location were all interesting especially Dr Seuss.

Kerri Oberhauser

Indian Day is always marvelous!

P C

Dr Seuss was good for kids, natural history too. I didnt make it inside the sculpture display, but I wish I did.

Kristy Wagland-Ortiz

Lots of interesting things and stories. Several buildings worth. Dr Seuss museum is definitely worth it.

Heather O'brien

Can't beat the price for 5 museums! This was my second visit to the Dr Suess museum and my first to the Art, Science & Natural History, and the Springfield History museum. All of them were fantastic! I recommend the Springfield museum for people of all ages!

Brian Cummings

Another Free, Fun Friday. Back to the Valley and the Springfield Museums. Saw a little less than half of the complex and plan to come back to do the Seuss and science exhibits.

Brandon sylvester

Our kids love this place. With everything in one place it is easy to see many things. The

Kimberly Savery

Some great paintings. Keeping children off of the Horton sculpture is like nailing jello to a tree

kathryn shaw

Tons of fun! Great for adults and kids!

Brittany Wilkey

Well it's my opinion but I think there should be more stuff from his books out side like mabee a play house for all sizes like the house from cat in the hat and his crazy box opend and the world of all crazy pretty much meets our world and I'm not saying itz gotta be 100% like that but just like Horton hears a who or thing o e and thing 2 and the statues bring a life form of dr Seus to life but more of his thought and stories should be all over outside like his mind would have it theres alot of people that respects what dr seus has done for all ages of kids and young teen too adults alike lo e his work and would like too feel more like were In One of his crazy funn!!! Stories or even better the brain of the great Dr Seus!!!! That's how I feel srry if it feels like I'm offending the meusem but I for one and one for all wold like to think I'm entering the cat in the hats world as well of the creator that made these amazing books and movies alike and deff like no other kids books and films for sure but the meusem makes me feel like an older style grandpa grandma old school feeling from the 1900's but were in 2019 let's step this place up and make this meusem like no other cuz if he can make all his thoughts and imagination come to life we can make his meusem like his thoughts and imagination right lol well just my thought but I really think it would be an amazing idea for sure!!!!

Pamela Parker

Nice place, very interesting and reasonable for 5 museums..get a big discount if on food stamps.

ELLE BISH

I went with my spouse and young boys to the dinosaur stomp, chomp & roar week and my boys had a blast at all the exhibits. Seeing buddy from dinosaur train was truly a highlight of their day! As we went on our way back nearly ready to leave after all the fun activities and exhibits, we noticed that the dj had arrived and let our two children go in to dance. My 5 year old seen that the only two dancing children in there were dancing with blow up dinosaurs and that two more were on a table. He grabbed one to dance around with as well and not long after he ran back to grab another for his brother who is 3yrs. Well the moment he gave him this blow up dino, you can hear DJ Marty Fullwood say on his microphone "thanks for asking" in the most rude sarcastic tone to my 5 year old. So as disgusted as me and my partner were, my husband put back those blow up dinosaurs and turned toward that door with our children and you can hear him say "thanks for coming". We let an employee know by the elevator on our way out about our experience that made us leave on a bad note with the Springfield Museum. The museum itself and all the activities we did were enjoyable to my kids and us. But Dj Marty Fullwood spoiled our day for treating our 5 year old that just wanted to include his 3 year old brother in a unessesary rude manner. Didn't know you had to ask or wait for him to call on you for some ridiculous blow up dinos when only 2 kids were in there.

Fanta Waterman

Great value, and the interactive science museum is excellent. De. Suess Museum is a must-see.

Margaret K

Interesting enjoyable variety of exhibits without having to cover great distances between buildings.

Karen Botkin

Nice local museum.

xarteth xarteth

The museum collections are decent, especially that in the aquarium, the live animals are kept well and clean. Unfortunately the information is incorrect on several of the self-guide science exhibits. Most of the staff is not very friendly, and the children's activities are usually disappointing as they are rarely as exciting or as creative as they are advertised.

Dean Inouye

Surprisingly diverse offerings of European, American and Asian art. The Dr. Suess sculptures and museum are unique sand with a visit, especially with kids. Ample parking

Crystal Seneca

April Roggio

One of our favorite day trips! Incredible museum complex, no matter the season, in a beautiful and fun small city.

Todd Langevin

Its great to have such high quality museums so close by. Unfortunately they are quite hidden from the world so you have to hunt them down to find them. Decent price for entry and things to see for all ages.

Michael Sharon

Kid friendly, not a museum

Brian D W

These museums are excellent! Really something for everyone! If you go make sure you have some time and there is a lot to cover.

A great place to explore. The kids have so much fun. The Dr Seuss Museum is amazing!

Kay LeBlanc

The Dr. Seuss museum is a great place to be for all ages. The opportunity to learn history and have hands on play was great. There were some good picture opportunities. Also discounts are always a plus being a Springfield resident, amongst other discounts.

Jennifer LaBrecque

So educational but interesting at the same time! You don't know even know how much you're learning life and history when you're there!

Maegan Webb

My 5 year old and I both had a blast. The Dr Seuss museum is so creative and fun for all ages

Barby Berkley

I only had time for the Dr. Seuss museum and it was lovely and sweet and well kept. I’ve been in so many child-friendly, touch and play museums and they’ve kept this one looking good. I was disappointed with the Seuss offerings in the shop because I would’ve loved a unique Seuss item that could have only been found there.

Aaron Little

Great place to visit with the whole family. 4 museums plus a sculpture garden for one entry fee. 2 fine art museums, a science/natural history museum, and the amazing 'World of Dr. Seuss' museum & sculpture garden. Something for everyone to enjoy and lots of hands on or interactive displays. Countless selfie & photography opportunities.

Brian Hughes

Wonderful museums of art and local history. Also, the Dr. Seuss museum is on site (but I did not visit). The art museum had a variety of paintings and sculpture representing American and European artists, from medieval times, through Italian Renaissance, French Impressionism, and 20th century works. The local history museum revealed all of the various industries that have placed Springfield on the map (Indian motorcycle, Friendlys ice cream, Smith & Wesson firearms, etc), and the invention of the game of basketball. Fascinating story of this town that has been here since the mid 1600s.

Gia Mendez

Love it. Its a great place for kids

Cindy Szyszkiewicz

I went to the science museum with my daughter and grandson so he could see Buddy from Dinosaur Train. We all had lots of fun. My grandson discovered dinosaurs and had a great time "finding" a dinosaur skeleton and playing with the dinosaurs in the interactive room on the lower level. We also walked around the Dr Seuss sculpture park. We are looking forward to going back.

Stephan Edel

A lot of fun for all ages next to each other. My four-year-old loves the library and the Doctor Seuss Museum, but actually enjoyed the art museum and the cafe too. We've been there a bunch of times different combinations each time

Doris Doucette

Wow lots to see and glad we found it. Kids had a blast.. will be back!?

B. Gagne

While the price may seem high, it's not bad when you realize it covers 5 museums and the sculpture garden. I came from out of state, specifically for the Dr. Seuss museum and sculpture garden. The sculpture garden was just as beautiful as I saw from other photos online and the Dr. Seuss museum wasn't exactly what I was expecting, but it was still very interesting and full of fun photo opportunities. I think it must have been school vacation this week in Mass, because there were a lot of kids, so we didn't take all the photos we would have, but we enjoyed it very much. The Toytopia exhibit and the Smithsonian exhibit on loan with Superman and other iconic memorabilia were both amazing. One made me feel like a kid again (as well as my much older companion) and the other was simply amazing to see in person. I can't believe I saw a baseball signed by Babe Ruth! Every museum had it's own merits, the staff I did speak to were very helpful, and we spent about 2.5 hours going through everything (though I'm sure others could take much longer). I'm very glad to have made the trip!

Dagmar Lipowsky

Great museum, fun exhibits for kids

Colin McCormack

A lot of brainless screen time in the Dr Seuss museum but the natural history museum was great. Everyone loved it.

David Sacenti

This is a "Fantastic" museum for a city of 160k. It has among its buildings a Art, Science, History, Aquarium, Planetarium and now the Dr. Seuss statue garden and the Dr. Seuss National Museum among it's Different buildings/sections. It's a wonderful place to visit with the entire family and many structured hands-on events/projects for the little ones. There are handicap accessible bathrooms and elevators in all of the buildings to accommodate the elderly, handicapped, and family's with strollers. There are also plenty of staff on hand to assist you and answer all those questions from the little ones. And a big plus, city residents can enter for free with ID.

So i have brought everyone to these museums because they are awesome for the children as well as adults. The exhibits are beautifully maintained, and they do incorporate new exhibits(Thomas the Train and Toytopia are the newest until September i believe). Free for those who love in Springfield, unsure about non-resident pricing. There is an ecotarium downstairs, a prehistoric dinosaur floor, and african exhibit and then the planetarium. FOLKS THAT IS ONLY IN 1 BUILDING! They have a fine arts building( more for the adults) The amazing world of Dr.Seuss building and the Indian Motorcycle building across the street. 10/10
