Definitely NOT a place for children 6 and under. Lots of reading about the history of glass and how it became. Beautiful pieces of glass from early on to present. Worth a trip for older adults.
It's a nice place with lots of information about the glass starting from formations to designs and also people who had it. The demo on how different small glass items were made traditionally was so awesome.. if you like seeing different glass crockery items must visit.
Beautiful and informative. Rooms and room of displays, presentations and great history. The ladies in the gift shop were wonderful in helping me bring home my own piece of sandwich.
It's a great place to see different types of hand made glasses. They had a demo on how they make glasses which was a bonus.
Our group of 49 stopped here for a visit and were all pleased with the museum. Plenty of parking for vehicles and at least two tour buses. Once inside, be sure to watch the glass making demonstration! Simply amazing! Clean throughout and about a block away from the “fountain of youth” if you wanted to fill up a couple containers like others were doing.
Really neat little spot, watch out for all the old people bus tours though.
It was so big, the rooms just keep going!
Nice little place showing the history of glass making at snadwich. They have a glass demonstration every half hour.
Honestly I was so excited to come here and spend the day with my family. However, upon arrival we became engulfed in what I would consider to be some of the thickest traffic I’ve ever witnessed in my existence. We never actually made it to the museum but I’m sure it’s a really nice place. We drove around for 3 days and nights. If you’re planning on visiting you should allocate at least 2 months travel time to get here. We are still here.... please send help. REVISED: the Owner of this museum is a gentleman (or female) and a scholar and replied so I am now making this 5 stars
Great show! Nice tour.
Great place for local history. The views out back are like no other. Must go if you're a photographer.
As the name suggests they have a glass exhibition of different shapes sizes and types. It's focuses on the glass and History of Glass making in the Cape Cod area. On the weekend they have glass blowing displays where you see how the actual glass product is made. I learned a couple of things I didn't know about glass blowing. At the very end there's a very nice souvenir store where you can purchase a lot of different glass trinkets and souvenirs
interesting place
Good little place to visit while at cape cod
Very educational
Informative educational demonstrations
The glass making demonstration was so interesting and informative. Beautiful glass work for sale!
Got the chance to watch a member of staff make a blown glass mushroom, very interesting. Took our time exploring the many rooms of the museum. Lots of history and craftsmanship to see and read about. If you bring children keep an eye on them as some of the items in the gift shop are within reach of little hands, but I'm sure they will love to see all the glass animals.
Some great history here. Loved it.
It was more interesting than I thought it might be. The glass blowing demonstration was awesome.
Very Cool Museum! Much different than I expected. Cant wait to take my family thete.
Was a very nice experience overall. I learned a lot about the history of glass making, the chemical compositions of different types of glass as well as how to make the different shapes. There was a nice demonstration with a glass blower that went through the process of showing an audience how to create simple glass shapes from molten glass in the furnace they have at the facility. There were many beautiful glass structures on display as well. Definitely worth the price to visit.
Loved it, great education of manufacturing in early America. Super gift store!!!!
We loved the glass blowing. So much more informative than we expected. We plan on returning!
This hidden gem is a great way to balance out your Beach experience while at Cape Cod. So expand your horizons and visit this place.
Exposition is great, demo is just exciting! I would recommend to everybody to visit.
Very nice piece of history, with live demonstrations.
Great place to see the history of the glass industry in Massachusetts. Take time to see the glass blowing demo.
We love seeing the History of Sandwich glass.
Amazing history of glass and glass blowing demonstration was entertaining.
Excellent information and fabulous array of vintage glass!
Amazing art
We saw the first show and the third graders were late. They had field trips coming in. I forgot the guy's name who did the glass blowing and I had a lot of questions. He was very quick to get through the whole thing talking as he went. He made a swan and a tiny vase.
Very interesting. Lots of beautiful pieces. Demonstrations. 3,000 BC glass works. Really nice Museum. Stop in relax and learn something.
Interesting demonstrate on glass blowing
It definitely wasn't our thing. It was fine for a rainy day activity, but it wasn't something I would tell my friends to spend time doing on vacation.
Probably the most pointless museum on the face of the planet! If you have NO interest in history, art or actual information about exposition - this place Is for you. The place is dedicated to obscure names of local residents and their random family events. If you Do like glass - avoid it. Seriously! It's like pulling teeth. While the collection Could have been Interesting and educational - there is no information on the objects. No matter how interesting the pieces can be - the only descriptions are the names of the local "donors" and donor's family info - Why? Because .... . The people who run the museum clearly don't understand the purpose of one. The way it is - it could have been a pile of obscure brick-a-brac dug up in a yard of a family listed in local yellow pages. There - I just saved you a price if admission and an hour of your life
Nice museum. Meant to describe the history of Glassmaking in Sandwich, MA. Does so very well in a series on informative displays on the makeup & manufacturing process of glass. The glassblowing demo was very interesting and informative as well. There are also one or two exhibits meant to highlight how we use glass. As far as their collection of glassware, I personally did not find it very interesting (I've been to the Corning Museum of Glass which is essentially an art museum focused on glass; this to me was just a collection of nice glassware than general art) but it is pretty extensive and I'm sure those who appreciate these things would enjoy it. I would spend 1.5 - 2 hours here.
Awesome place!!
Receptionist was a right misery. Despite this it was an interesting museum. By far the best is the MIT exhibit.
Love glass and it's history
They do great work creating glass art and have an active kilm.
Amazing pieces and historical perspectives on the evolution of glass making on Cape.
Very interesting plus A LOT to look at and read about. The demonstration was awesome!
I went for the MIT Glass Lab exhibit. So pleased I bought their book. The displays of Old Sandwich glass are estonishing and glass blowing demo is up close and personal. A must see!
Super cool! Glass blowing exhibition every hour. Lots of local history wrapped up in the Boston and Sandwich Glass Factory.
Funny place. Didn’t get to catch a tour - suggest you do (it’s typically on the hour every hour but check), otherwise can be dry.
We visit a couple times a year, always fun. Glassblowing demo is awesome.
It was a lot of fun! The live demo and movie showed the rich history and the art of making blown glass.
Interesting, glass blowing demonstration was worth waiting for, lots to see, shirt video was well done, shop was cute
Very expensive but items are beautiful
Nice place very interesting place
Loved it!
Liked learning how to work glass.
Extremely informative; fun thing to do in an otherwise quiet town.
A fun little museum to spend several hours in and learn about the history of glass making in Sandwich and Boston. Beautiful pieces are on display, and (our favorite part), a glass blower gives a demonstration, from the start of a piece to its completion several times each day.
This is a wonderful smaller museum that includes a very interesting glassblowing exhibit. My wife and I enjoyed our visit very much.
Loved it. Beautiful examples of early glass, parlor lamps, glass paperweights, oil lamps and more. Interesting history posted with displays. They also show a video and have a demo although I did not have time to watch it. Allow two hours if you are into history.
Awesome museum
Interesting, worth a visit if you happen to be in the area! $10 for adult!
Really cool museum, nice set up and multi media
We had a great day! Watching the glassblower make a vase was so awesome! Highly recommend.
Beautiful art pieces. Informative demonstration.
Live glassmaking demonstrations with a knowledgeable artisan. Interesting history displays, including a 20 minute film and some interesting interactive displays.
Shattered all expectations.
So beautiful and everyone was just so informative and friendly!
Glass blowing was cool...the rest was OK. Small place but worth 30-45 mins if the history of glass making is of interest to you.
Interesting to see one of the first high quality, European grade production sites in the NW colony. Also, some nice glass.
The glass is,just beautiful. The gift shop is so nice full of beautiful items there.
There is something about glass that has always fascinated me. I first discovered the Sandwich Glass Museum a few years ago. So, today I decided since I was up this way, I would spend my afternoon watching a Craftsman create something beautiful from a molten piece of glass. Once again, I sat captivated as I watched a red hot fireball of melted glass take the form of a beautiful swan. After the demonstration, the Glassblower asked his audience if there where any questions. The atmosphere was calm and non-threatening making it a nice place for those young, old, and in-between to ask their questions. The Craftsman was patient and he seemed to genuinely enjoy answering all of the questions the inquisitive audience asked. After the demonstration, I spent my time walking through the museum, both reading and listening to the displays along the walls that held glass of many types and forms from the 1800's. While the Sandwich Glass Museum holds glass treasures from long ago, the museum also showcases a 'special exhibition gallery' which allows one to see works of old as well as contemporary art. At the end of your walk through the museum, you enter into a shop that features pieces that are created in the same way as they were made by the Glass makers of old to pieces created by modern glass artists.
A small and interesting museum that should not be missed.
Historical display of sandwich glass. Demos of glass blowing. Nice little gift shop. A little bit pricey on some items. Worth the visit. Kids seemed to enjoy it as well.
Beautiful--and far larger than expected.
Unbelievable artistry. Every piece was exceptional.
This small museum is beatiful. Seeing glass blowing up close was cool to watch. To see all these fantastic pieces of art was a pleasure. The gift shop has a beautiful selection ranging from affordable to extravagant.
Great place, full of history and the live glass blowing was amazing to watch.
A great place to spend an afternoon. Lots of history, lots of beautiful glass; and watching the glass blower presentation was fabulous.
Beautiful exhibits and glassmaking demo. Came with a tour and glad I did.
We really enjoyed the glass blowing exhibit & and the information & history about Boston & Sandwich Glass Company.
An amazing little place both teaching and maintaining an old tradition of glassmaking in the region. The best reason to go in my opinion is to watch the live glassblowing exhibitions: local apprentices come to talk about the process while creating a simple piece in front of a small audience. In addition, there is a wealth of information on the history, materials used, and of course, ample pieces that cover the industry that put Sandwich on the map. Worth a visit, for locals and visitors to the Cape alike.
Small but interesting. Great collection.
Wonderful history and displays of glassware. Interesting demonstration of glassblowing with surprise.
The Sandwich Glass Museum was a real nice stop as my family toured Cape Cod. It was nothing fancy, but worth our time. The story about the factory and the town of Sandwich was informative. The glass blowing demonstration was interesting and helped us understand the process. I highly recommend stopping by the Sandwich Glass Museum.
Nice place
Nice people. I think reasonable prices. And I am cheap!
Awesome museum! Totally worth the $10 admissions fee (adults). We really enjoyed the glass making demonstration and the staff were friendly and helpful. The gift shop is a bit pricey, but really cool items can be found there.
The Sandwich Glass Museum is a place of beauty in light and glass! It is a must-see if you are on the cape.
Great glass museum...
My wife was in glass heaven. Absolutely wonderful. If you like blown glass it is a must see.
Interesting pieces. Historical background Not for young children. Teens and adults.
Beautiful!
Fun and educational
It’s a small museum but I loved the exhibits. My favorite was the one portraying the human blood cells. Just to think the talent it takes to work with glass. Beautiful.
Super cool, definitely worth the visit!!!
Good demonstration. Pricey..
Beautiful keep-sakes with a long history to the area. Well worth the stop and the kids can see how glass is blown and created.
Amazing glass work and live glass blowing demonstrations.
Nice museum. A little small, but the movie and glass blowing demonstration was excellent.
Fun, interesting, and educational for all ages!
Loved, loved loved the history and demo. Quirky enough to hold an artist interest. Very glad we went.
What a truly unique and educational museum! Excellent few hours spent for anyone interested in history, art, or old-style production. The permanent collection of glasswares and art pieces is astounding.
What a neat piece of history with a great demonstration of how glass is blown and objects are created. It was great to see the invention of stamped and molded glass, and its effects on the industry.
Great time, the place is a lot larger than you my think. Learned a lot.
If you like the history of the cape or are interested in glass blowing and making this is well worth a stop! They have some amazing glass pieces that are worth seeing!
Great presentation on the expertise of glass blowing !
Coustoner service not pleasant
Glass demos provided every hour. Very interesting
Got some beautiful handmade glass pendants! And also saw a live demonstration of glass blowing! Worth the experience if you’re in Sandwich! :)
Love this place because we made it for our Christmas tree
Loved it. Except 75% of the people there (and kids) could have cared less. Very loud and disruptive to people who really want to be there.
Great glass blowing demos
Excellent demo with lots of ooo's and ah's. Would be good for a rainy day as it's all indoors.
Interesting history of glass product manufacturing in Cape Cod
I'd always heard of "Sandwich Glass" on shows like "Antique Roadshow" but ignorantly believed that it was a process (taking two pieces of glass and sandwiching them together...maybe...?) rather than a place. This museum is fascinating even for someone who doesn't think they are all that interested in glass. One of the big features, that I recommend highly everyone make time for, is the glass blowing demonstration. You can get so close that you can feel the heat of the furnace as a Craftsman makes an item right there in front of you. The demonstration is every half hour in the half hour. The museum itself is an excellent backdrop for everything you learn in the introductory film. There is plenty to touch, to experience, to see and do including interactive audio and video exhibits. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
Very interesting place
A medium sized museum focusing on the Sandwich glass industry from past centuries. View demonstrations of glass making in person by an experienced glass-maker, a theater showing the history of how the Sandwich glass industry was started, and many fine examples of ancient glass works to more recent examples of glass made in Sandwich. You can spend an hour or two meandering through the rooms of glass, watching glass being made, and viewing an entire history of glass works. Gift shop is also on site for great pieces you can take home with you.
They were very informative. I learned a lot and enjoyed the glass blowing demonstration.
Excellent glass blowing demonstration. Gave all the reasons why it was done that way. Explained the kiln. Very interesting. Many, many examples of glass blowing art.
This place is the best !! If you are like me and just love the beauty of glass then you must make a visit here. Did all my Xmas shopping (except the children) in one visit !!
It was cool but the glass blower made a lot of mistakes. I glass blow sometimes and the place I go rarely make mistakes. And I have never and I'm not a professional.
Great museum! Lots to look at and read. I wouldn't recommend bringing small children if you're someone who likes to read all available info. The guest exhibits change periodically. Very cool that they have someone blowing glass every day so you can see how it's done!
Loved it and especially the gift shop! Live talk and demo available. Bought a glass flower and beautiful pin.
Very interesting tour and glass blowing demonstration. Learned a bit of history. Definitely worth a visit.
What a wonderful experience!! This place is full of wonderful and amazing things about glass, it’s colors, it’s designs, and many more stories about glass making. We never knew people who had been working on this glassware were geniuses. There is section where you can she glass blowing (please check for timings before hand because it closes before the museum closes). Bathrooms were clean and there were also few glass items kept which will surely make you think about their hard work. Staff was polite and helpful. And because we reached just in time of museum closing, they let us in without tickets-“free visit” yay!!
Amazing collection and archive. Definitely worth going to see.
It was a nice stop on our way back to Boston. Loved the demonstration but wished he talked louder or had a mic. Great museum.
Wonderful place if interested in glass history. Not suitable for screaming children, sarcastic uninterested teens, or the "just wasting time" disruptive adults.
Wonderful old glass exhibits and a good film and glass blowing demonstration.
Went here during vacation ...museum has a large nicely set up into different rooms... one of the biggest displays of exquisite glass work you will see...set in a quaint town ..highly recommend...
Interesting and informational. Really enjoyed the glass blowing demonstration. Thought we planned enough time at 2 hours, but definitely would have stayed longer if they weren't closing.
A small historical museum with many colorful collections to surprise visitors. Displays are glass artwork dating back from 15th century till contemporary times. They also have a live show to demonstrate glass blowing technique. A nice place to spend a half day and know more about the Cape.
It's interesting... daily glass blowing demonstrations in the hour, scavenger hunt for kids, pretty small museum, can see and do it all in an hour
Definitely neat to see the glass there and the ornate designs. The glass blowing demonstration was informative and fun too. The museum could use a little upkeep in areas though. Also they have a lot of the same kind of glass work on display which started to get a little old to me. A little more variety would be nice. Then again, it's important to remember they are showcasing SANDWICH glass, not necessarily all forms of glass art, hence the repetition of the same glass designs. That being said, they do have an exhibit room where they showcase pretty cool glass art from various glass artists.
Fascinating to look at.
Very interesting to see
Great historical site. Very nice museum and demonstration of glass blowing. Large selection of glass gifts.
Quaint local museum , hourly glass blowing demo,. A lot of history packed into a small museum Worth the trip
Great gift shop
It really is kind friendly.
This place was great. Glass blowing demo, some unique bits of local history and some beautiful art glass as well.
We've visited two years in a row and enjoy the museum very much. The glass history is very interesting, the glass blowing demonstrations are engaging and fun, and the glass is beautiful! There is ample parking and the museum is bright, clean, and informative. What a great facility!
Nice and educational
Great demonstration...you can tell he likes his job!
Everything glass history along with a live glass blowing and gift shop. Never crowded with restrooms
So cute, worth at least one trip through (and stay for the demo!)
I saw the cool process of how people make glass vases. Every room had its own little subject. There was also a game that took 12 years to make out of glass!
Beautiful display of early New England glass ware.
very cool place. the glass blowing looked really cool. all the things on display were very pretty.
Fun and educational. See the film and watch an actual glass blowing process. It is amazing, and the items for sale are so beautiful.
This was a really cool place and I feel fairly priced. Theres a short documentary of Sandwich and the glassblowing industry through the years. But the actual glass blowing demo was the best part. I just wish the guy who was working could speak a little louder.
I heard great things about this little place but I just went into the gift shop. Did not have enough time to go visit the museum but I heard it was good from the people that came out.
The museum was great! Very friendly staff along with the glass blowing presentation. It has a logical flow through the history of glassblowing with an emphasis on this particular mill being one of the finest in the nation. I'd definitely recommend going here for a couple hours. There is also a gift shop and a rotating exhibit schedule. Plenty of parking when we went, and very easy to find.
Such a fun time learning about glass.
What a story and collection! The variety of glass craftsmanship is astounding. Glass-blowing demonstration also fun & fascinating.
Interesting presentation
Beautiful displays of the region's rich history
Wonderful Jewel of a small museum, I love that they feature a lot of local art
What a beautiful museum! Well worth the $10 to get in. We saw a great glass blowing demonstration, too, and he was fantastic! Best souvenir ever was buying a glass pumpkin that he blew! Would definitely go back.
