For a taste of Boston's history this lovely house will not disappoint you. Tours are limited to small groups so you can really enjoy the house and it's furnishings. The family history is a fascinating story of how well- to-do Bostonians lived.

It's a good museum to spend your time in a weekday in a sophisticated way and learn about the lives of the rich people in the past in Beacon Hill. The guide knew a lot of stuff about Nichols sisters and how they contributed to the society. $10 for adults and $5 for students. No wheelchair accessible entrance. Tours start at the beginning of every hour and lasts between 45 min - 1 hour.

Our guide, Laura, gave a very informative guide. I enjoyed it so much!

Brian Robertson

Not the usual big slick museum. Gave a great insight into a professional middle-class family home late 19th century early 20th century.

This house was bequeathed in the will of the daughter, it has original furniture for her as well as her parents so it's a bit more authentic than some of the other houses around. Interesting tour and energetic tour guide. It's a nice house to visit if you're in Boston looking for something to do.

It's a beautiful building with a very knowledgeable staff. We visited on Free Fun Friday and took their (abbreviated?) tour. We didn't hear much about Rose and her family during the tour. A perfect time to chat about them would have been while we waited outside for the next tour to begin.

Great little museum to explore the local Boston history! The tour is very well organized and explained, and the house is filled with unique items and character from the previous inhabitants.

Hilary Ferenczi

Interesting but tour guide could have embellished more on culture of Beacon Hill families at the time in relation to Rose Standish Nichols which would have been more of a learning experience for visitors.

Sara Robinson

Informative guide & very progressive family who helped their community & preserved their lovely home. Hand-carved woodwork & old worldly art & intricate embroidery. Lots of amazing things to admire & learn about!

Robert Voegtlen

Great place to go.

While the building is gorgeous and takes you back in time, the best part about the Nichols House is the story of the woman who lived there! My favorite historical home tour in Boston.

Great little historic house museum dating to the 1800s. Due to its limited ownership (only 2) it's managed to retain the vast majority of its original look. The guides are very knowledgeable and clearly enjoy telling the story of the house.

Very interesting place especially in regards to the former owner and her accomplish ments pretty buliding and an knowledgeable guide

Karen Nelson

I lucked out and had a private tour. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and as someone born and raised in the area it was so interesting to connect the dots on families, artists, and other contributors to Boston's history that I hear about today. The rooms in the home were beautifully preserved and really gave me an appreciation for life back in the day!

Interesting to learn about industrious women of the 19th century.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour --raining outside and the new Director was very kind and helpful. I would go again and only wish the kitchen had been restored --more info about cooking, meals, and gardening during that period would be nice.

A Beacon Hill gem that gives visitors an untouched view back in time.
