This Museum is classified in the category of Museum.
I attended the Japanese car and motorcycle day. It qas inexpensive and fun. The staff were very accommodating to my granpa and I.
Did you know there were electric cars in the early 1900s? You can see two of them here in the permanent collection! And the upper galleries change regularly too. Go see America's oldest car collection and learn about how far (and not so far) the auto industry has come. Great for the kids who like cars, but it's not particularly catered to young children who might want to touch and get into the cars however.
Hmm … 'kay. I guess this is a great venue for special events (which they do have often). But I was there on a day without a special event. This left the regular assortment of cars for viewing. That took me less than an hour, and left me underwhelmed. Well, I guess the sheer size of some cars from the 1910s and 1920s was noteworthy. Granted, there are some interesting vintage posters on the walls, and there is a collection of old enameled badges with international motor-club logos. Is that what you go to an auto museum for, though? Oh, and the poster I found most interesting—a Packard ad—was located in … wait for it … the men's room! Meaning, many visitors won't even see it. To make up for that, I am including it here.
Not a bad trip. Not nearly as many cars as I thought there would be. Lots of history.
Amazing and beautiful collection! Great facts about the Larz family and history.
Great little museum! Lots of cool cars and old old autos. Definitely worth a visit, 10 bucks for adults, students 5 and free for kids under 6 years old. The park surrounding the museum is really beautiful, if you come on a nice day it is perfect for picnics.
Sweet potato fries
Beautiful spot fully of car history
We enjoyed our visit to the museum. Such wonderfully restored autos and the grounds is beautiful.
If you love cars you need to go see the museum. They also have great lawn events throughout the summer
Great history, outstanding architecture. Best $10 I've spent in ages
Great location, interesting cars.
Lawn events are the best in the summer. I enjoy that museum every time I go. A must go for car enthusiasts.
This is a wonderful museum it has meaning for me because my grandfather worked here for Lars Anderson
During my visit from this place, I saw cars in their original condition (just what they looked like at the time when they were bought). Very interesting. You will see two electric cars and you will know Tesla (the company) was not the first to come up with the idea. The gentleman who works as the docent is very friendly and knowledgeable. There is only one reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5, and that is because I was expecting more cars. Number of cars here was not what I hoped for, that is it, no otger downside, and yes J enjoyed it and recommend it to everyone.
Super cool museum, awesome weekend car events
Beautiful grounds great place for a function
Beautiful museum
Great Lawn events every Sunday thru summer and fall.
Interesting museum and they host great events.
Beautiful location in Brookline with an amazing selection of vintage automobiles. I've attended several lawn events here and thoroughly enjoyed it.
No words could describe that place, everything in there was so amazing, glorious, felt like I was in a different world!!❤❤ can't wait to go there again and again...
I love this place! The lawn events are amazing!
A annual favorite for any car nut. With cars and coffee and with a different highlighted marque every Sunday, this is a pretty amazing spot just outside of Boston. Spend the extra 20 minute ride and hit the North End for some fantastic food and pastries.
Fun car museum, love the events and car shows. For events like Cars and Coffee, a lot of interesting cars show up for how local it is. Personally, I think they don't change up the main exhibits that much, but I understand that, museums can be hard to operate.
Lots of space and history
A large number of one-of-a-kind antique/historical autos in a beautiful setting.
Was going to just walk the Beautiful grounds & was Surprised by a Car Show ❗❗❗❤❤❤
great place if you want to see antique cars
Located a few minutes from Boston is this museum of antique cars. I went on a free admission day so not sure what they charge to get in. They have two floors of antique cars dating all the way back to 1899. The top floor changes the lay out often I was told by one of the employees but downstairs does not. It's a nice place to visit, you can bring some sandwiches to have a picnic in the upper area as they have a park and big yard for that.
This place was amazing. We went with my 7 year old and we were a little worried he would be bored. We were dead wrong he was very excited to see the Anderson family collection and was thoroughly engaged in the exhibits asking questions and making assumptions. Thank u.
The museum was amazing ! Lots of cars in a small space. Thought it was a little pricey but I understand you need that to take care of all those amazing cars. Definitely worth the visit!
Beautiful place and vintage cars are wonderful to see.
Visited this unique site for the first time, it’s about an hour from home. Went in search of this specific car show of micro cars and explored the antique car museum and grounds. It’s affordable and a nice museum collection of some very unique cars. At this show there were friendly car owners, they gave rides! The grounds and gardens were obviously once very grand and it’s sad to learn of the history and demise of facilities. Still it’s obviously a well used and enjoyed place which met the intent of the owners - for the enjoyment of all.
You're into cars? that's the place to go! You're into beautiful parks? That's the place to go as well! The Larz Anderson Auto Museum is one the most beautiful auto museum that I've ever gone. Locals: you can always use the discount pass available at your BPL branch.
Fantastic museum, that I feel doesn't get the foot traffic it deserves. Lots of rare, limited production vehicles on display, including many that are among the last few in existence. It is a personal collection, so the cars do show some wear, which is really cool, because it shows these cars as vehicles used as vehicles, not just spotless museum pieces.
Had a great time for the Ducati release of the new bike f
Beautiful museum and the staff were very helpful and nice
We were able to get in for free with a reciprocal membership. Had a lot of fun with my kids for about 45 minutes. The attached park is a lot of fun.
It was a great place to visit and the cheapest for adults$10.to get in
Such a cool classic car museum. Only only classics here. Not one millennium car. Nor 90s and 80s, possibly 70s
I've been a member off and on for years; third lawn events during the summer are the winners here. Go to the web site for listing of the events. My basic problem with them is they want to charge for everything. Nonmembers get charged $10-$20 to go to a lawn events that costs them minimally. As a member, they run lectures, but they charge substantially for them. Their vehicle selection rotates, but is very limited.
LOVED IT. PLANNING TO MAKE REPEAT DRIVES BACK HERE AGAIN. ITS AN ESTATE AFTER ALL, A MANSION, AND IT HOUSES CLASSIC CARS!
Super family friendly place. Different car exhibitions during the summer and fall season. The museum has the kind of elements that a car lover would enjoy. Bonus points for the park right next to the building.
Hadn't been back at the museum for a while, but went back for the British car lawn event, fantastic turn out with some amazing cars on show, fun :)
Great day! The museum was wonderful
LOVED IT! Went to the German car show and had a great time! Parking on the street was challenging but completely worth it to see all the cars, and the museum inside was incredible.
It was like being a kid in a candy store! So many awesome cars. Lamborghinis Ferraris and my favorite, American muscle cars! Great museum.
It had some great antiques!
Great museum
So cool! Beautiful property! They put on a ton of great events!
Love this place but bring cash. No atm, no cards
Nice piece of history in Brookline. Amazing collection of old automobiles. Perfect amount of time for a 5 year old boy.
events are really good
Just 2 floors of old cars - but all of them in a good shape; small souvenir shop; limited parking; From time to time this place is doing some special car events
Great place, tons of amazing things to see. Cars and Coffee is my favorite thing there. The building had amazing architecture too.
Great little museum. Went here for Swedish car day. Good turnout good grounds and nice exhibits in the actual museum.
Interesting collection of personal cars plus rotating special exhibit. Permanent exhibit cars are in unrestored condition. Beautiful setting, no A/C,. no elevator.
Great cars and coffee event. There was alot nice people and classic cars
Amazing place for people who likes cars and and everything about cars.
Very cool early American cars museum. I was here for an event and enjoyed it. There are a wide range of cars beautifully restored.
Head up here on a lawn event day and get wristband admission for the best value. You can visit the inside of the museum and see unique cars parked outside for the event - you get two things to do for the price of one. You can bring your own car if it fits the lawn event guidelines - yeah, your aunt's old Plymouth is an extinct brand, even that would work! I will be bringing my Foxbody for Ford Lincoln Mercury day this summer. Great place to visit for auto enthusiasts in Boston.
I thoroughly enjoy the Lawn Event car shows. Car guys will love these events especially Tuttuo Italiano. Very enjoyable show on lovely grounds and changing displays in the museum keep us coming back.
Beautiful grounds, and always different things to see. New variety of vehicles almost every weekend in the summer. German, muscle cars, Italian exotics, Great Place to see cars of all types
I grew up in antique car circles and helping my grandfather restore and maintain our own 2 antique cars and this was one of the most amazeing antique and historicle auto collections Ive ever seen
Fun free Friday, lots of auto history and cool cars
Great place for a car show. Always worth a visit.
It's smaller than other car museums that I've been to, but it's on a beautiful property and has a lot of older cars which are fun to read about. You only need about an hour to tour the museum, but if there's an event or the weather is nice, you can easily spend a half day touring the grounds.
Good time, but wish there were more older bikes at the event
Sweedish car day! @Larz Anderson Auto Museum.
Beautiful grounds for a car show on the lawn, but the staff who work in the museum are very rude. Went up to the desk and the woman working it was too busy checking her Facebook or whatever on her cell phone to acknowledge me until I said excuse me.
As a car guy this was a great museum to visit. The collection of antiques and display vehicles was awesome. Lots of automotive history. Beautiful place with plenty of parking. Pricing is great and they even offered a free Friday during the summer. Nice way to spend a few hours with the family.
Great place to spend time with family and great events.
My favorite day of the year. Porschefest.
Really neat museum, even for non car enthusiasts. The collection is pretty small. You can go through it under an hour, but the exhibit rotates. The best part is the themed lawn events, but they can be hit or miss depending on how popular the brand is (Japanese Car day was much bigger than MG Day).
Loved the museum itself and all that it had to offer. I really enjoyed Ducati's event. I am Elliot Feyjoo's Fiance, GM at Wagner Motorsports, we were more than pleased. Looking forward too it again in the future.
If you like antique cars, this is the ideal place.
Has a great car collection displayed in an interesting stone mansion. Interesting car shows on the lawns each weekend in the summer.
Smallish but very interesting collection, from stream powered to century old electric vehicles.
I’ve been heading to Larz for years! The exhibit is always top shelf! The cars and coffee, lawn events are a must attend if you love cars!
Great little museum to check out some really cool and old automobiles. Student discount makes is very affordable at only $5. Make sure to check out the gift shop at the end, which is filled with old car magazines and vintage posters available for purchase.
I've been to Swedish Car Day three years now and every time it is enjoyable. The museum is beautiful inside, as well as the exterior.
The lawn events make it most interesting for me. If you like early autos, you might like the museum more than I do, and I consider myself a car guy.
Lovely spot for the Cars & Coffee event. Huge turnout, lots of exciting cars. Wish there was tea for those of us who prefer it to coffee, though.
Always a great place to bring visiting family or guests. Or spend an afternoon by yourself. The Anderson's were an impressive couple from back in the day of wealthy Bostonian socialites and we get to enjoy their generosity even today.
Great assemlage of cars .. They rotate them a few times a year
Great collection of classic cars, well kept facility, and very informative staff. I'll definitely be visiting this museum again.
Swedish Car Day was great! Very well organized! Can’t wait to visit next year.
I was blown away, the car with the toilet inside made me imagine just how far people had to travel back then, pretty neat idea
Awesome! They switch the cars every few months, and the collection never disappoints!
A jewel always!
Nicely done, lots to see.
We got a pass from our local library so we got to visit for free. We took our boys ages 11 and 7 on a weekend. It wasn't crowded at all maybe only six or seven other people that we saw all day. It was a great place to visit and seeing all of the cars from so many different eras was just incredible. The boys (and mom and dad) had so much fun looking at all the different vehicles. Absolutely recommend
Always a great time, great rotating displays of all types of motor sports. If a group of cars is having a meet there it is worth the trip.
Enjoyed triumph day very much would have liked to have seen more participants and a few more Tr 3 s otherwise it was triumph heaven
Absolutely no parking or preparedness for larger events.
Lovely auto museum. Would love better ventilation, though.
I went to the micro car event, and it was much more than I expected. Things that I didnt expect were free rides in alot of the mini/micro cars, and the ability to look through the whole museum for only 10 dollars! All together it was a great experience and I might become a regular at this museums events.
Wow, this place will blow your mind. If you enjoy looking back in time this is it. Plus they also offer themselves to our Ducati owners club NEDOC to stage events there. Love this place.
The place for car fans & historians of any era! Always interesting weekend events (when scheduled). Car collection which resides in lower part will bring you back in time. Family membership is well worth it for me.
It is a great place to visit to see the history of the automobile. Their lawn events are outstanding.
Wonderful glimpse into the past.....
Exceptional classic automobile museum
An absolute gem! Have been coming here since childhood, moved to West Coast, but when I came back made sure to check it back out. Great car meets, and fantastic lactation. Which and hope more people will start other small car museums with their collections
The place is very interesting but not huge. Super cool cars though
This is a beautiful building that I'm very glad was made into a museum so the public can see inside. My mother has taken me here many times as a child and I've come back as an adult very frequently. There are some really cool old cars and it's worth checking out the museum itself. I prefer to attend the numerous car shows that happen throughout the summer/fall and the museum is the perfect backdrop for any car foreign or domestic. I used to attend shows here almost every week because there are multiple hosts of the car shows, but now I only attend the official car shows of the museum because they are run very well, considering the challenge they have with space!
Some awesome classics and they have a great director and cars and coffee events
When you are going here it is certain you will have a good time. Both the lawn events or just visiting the museum never get boring, even for people that could care less about cars. Highly recommend.
