A super interesting way to spend an hour & a half when bike, beach, boutique & bistroed -out. I recommend taking the tour first, about 20 min, then browsing the various story boards & short movies. Some made me cry, but many made my spirits soar for the happy endings thanks to the heroism of the Nantucket life-savers.

Stunning property. Rather small museum, but a must see if in Nantucket. The whole staff is the nicest around. This museum is off of a road, or a bike path. Great to make an afternoon out of (Just a beautiful 3 mile bike ride from town)

This small museum offers a fascinating history of lifesaving in the Commonwealth and the U.S. The docent who guided us through the museum had been a crewman on a lightship, and generously shared his passion and knowledge.

I was offered a tour or self guide. I chose the tour. Absolutely the way to go. The gentleman brought you back to the time of heroism and bravery. The nautical antiques from the lifesavers and shipwrecks are well displayed and explained. There are several short movies about the history of the island that are well worth your time. Don't miss the Millie interview! Cute gift shop as well.

Tanya Hoefler

Well worth the money, ticket included other stops in Nantucket. Very interesting, saw half took a lunch break and came back.
