REVIEWS OF Battleship Cove and Maritime Museum IN Massachusetts

Heather Bartlett

Beautiful facilities, clean museum center. Well kept, restored and cared for. Absolutely stunning. Took our family about 2 hours to see a good bit of it, could have spent another 2 looking more in depth at the exhibits within. Cafeteria area was clean and had some good snacks for a mid trip energy boost. Definitely recommend.

This is my 3rd visit to Battleship Cove, first as a 12 year old, then taking my 10 year old son, and now taking my 12 year old grandson. This is always a great visit and I'm always impressed with the job the volunteers do to keep all the ships afloat and presentable. Having veteran volunteers makes the visit even better. My grandson enjoyed hearing about shipboard life from an actual "Tin Can Sailor. " I would highly recommend a visit to Battleship Cove for anyone that has an interest in WWII history, Naval history, or the greatest generation.

Unfortunately not all ships could be visited today. The visit was very exciting. Unfortunately one is often disoriented. Here one could set more signs or a better tour stations, which one can run off then. I would have imagined a lot more interactive. For example, one could not look through the periscope in the submarine. Also some things are not maintained. Moss and grass grows on the ship. The visit of the USS Midway in San Diego or the USS Lexington I recommend better.

Abigail Rose-Craver

Had an amazing day at Battleship Cove. Use of our Groupon was seamless. Admission gets you a 2-day pass if you go 2 consecutive days. Great setup of museum and well-kept. The little gift shop is nice too. Definitely would not recommend for people with mobility issues since you need to be fairly agile to move through small, close spaces and climb stairs to see the exhibits on the ships and submarine. It's great that there are several different self-guided tour routes you can take depending on how much time you wish to spend. If you're going during the summer, dress lightly since there is very little air flow if you're not on the deck or near a doorway. Might also recommend sunscreen and a hat. Best to plan arrival earlier in the day to beat the heat and crowds. I definitely want to return when the weather is a little more agreeable. We were there for about 3 hours and we would've seen more if it hadn't been so hot. There's a little cafe in the USS Massachusetts with snack food such as popcorn, ice cream, burgers, chips, hot dogs, soft drinks, etc... There are also vending machines with sodas and water for fair prices. Loved that there was a water filter by the cafe where you could refill your reusable bottle. Restroom facilities could use a little work but functional.

John Engel

really a great visit with scouts on the overnight. the history of this ship is amazing. sleeping in the authentic bunks was also one of the highlights of the tour.

Harold Rodriguez

The Fire works were good did not vist anything else.

Chris J.

So intetesting. The kids loved it too.

plasm90

Walter Evans built-in

I love takingPictures of sunsets#sunsetchasah401#M7C

Jamie Gerardo

Super fun touring the various ships. Lots to explore!

David Cabral

Nice place to take a walk and have a picnic.

Elizabeth Bass

A good hands on place for families. Not so suitable for babies or very young ones, as you're climbing up steep steps around the ships. Second world war and more recent hand on naval history. My 16 year old daughter and I had a great day out.

J Pierre

Great place to bring the entire family. The videos gives a brief history of the different pieces and the events at that time. The ships are well kept as well as the items displayed. Definitely recommend.

David Henry

The battleship Massachusetts is the highlight. Good signage and some museum exhibits on board. There is also a submarine Lionfish, an East German boat, the Joseph Kennedy (destroyer?), PT boats, landing craft and a Huey. Ticket good for two days. Self-guided tour. Snack shack with limited food and drinks on board battleship.

Robert Dunham

Great place for everyone at any age, especially children. Tickets also includes the maritime museum. Which was cool. But The one thing that got me was they offer discounts for everything except for active merchant marines. Kinda contradictory

Jennifer Bishop

Your tour the ships as a family you don't have to wait for a guide you can relax and take your time and see the ships from top to bottom.

Justin Harzold

Great place to see great warships of the past!

Todd M Costa

Great amount of history just miles from home.

joseph Rapoza

An outstanding Museum. A lot of great history. Fun for the entire family.

Alfred Greco

Took my grandson there and he loved it. Me too! He told he wants to go back. He is only 9. Amazing.

Buzz C

super cool location, i felt like i was on a set of pearl harbor. Got here a bit late in the day so the museum was closed but the setting is unbelievable.... so beautiful and majestic... A must see if you are in the area

strongburg

This was beyond words. So glad we stopped and explored. These ships were massive and seeing how our service people had to live was very enlightening..I'm glad I'm not claustrophobic.Worth every penny to check it out.

Dr. D

We visited on a lark when we were spending some time in Boston, and we were very surprised at how much fun it was. Lots of great things to walk around climb on and touch, and battleship cove is one of the few places I've been to we're almost every placard and sign really gave you a lot of information that you didn't know. If you're a little claustrophobic, touring the submarine can be a little tricky, but that aside there are no negatives on this one.

Matthew Arruda

Amazing person lace to spend the day. So much to see and learn about. They currently have four ships there, but we spent the whole day aboard only the Battleship before we got tired out.

Tyler Williams

Great time with the family during free fridays!!!

Jason Miller

Love the old ships. Wish there was a carrier to tour too that would be amazing but not sure a carrier can fit up river :P

Tyler Cowan

This is awesome you get to walk through all the ships there is even a submarine

Claudio Fagundes

Special place in my heart for this is where I first met the woman I would end up marrying and having three beautiful kids with I remember meeting her every time I drive past this place

Jeffrey Botelho

It is a family friendly and it has a lot of cool exhibits

Robert Zupnyk

Went with cub scouts. Had a great time. Son loved it and wants to go back.

M Carey

Great place to visit three types of warships. The submarine was an intense experience. Not recommended for the extremely claustrophobic.

JENERATION Z

This place is very historical and an AWESOME place to take your kids! It is a very family friendly environment and is for a wide age range. Check it out!

Jimmy Ayers

I love this place, in fact I'll be going again, this is the best place I've ever gone too, the ships are well maintained, staff are good. I would be planning to volunteer, just to be on the ships and be around them

Sean

Great place with multiple exhibits including a WWII Battleship and Submarine. Visited have the ability to explore a large portion and multiple levels of the battleship. I have toured the battleship (and even slept overnight on it a couple of times) multiple times a couple decades back. My latest visit with my own sons a week ago, revealed to me a ship that was still an awe inspiring piece of history, but also an attraction in need of some serious upkeep. The wood decking is in very poor shape in some areas, which I suppose is to be expected on an 80 year old ship, which was retired decades ago.

Joshua Hooper

We had some very awesome experiences at Battleship Cove on all the available ships! I highly recommend it to anyone. It was an adventure worth having!

Hunger Game

This is an amazing place to bring kids that are old enough to climb ladders. You’ll find the “stairs” between decks are as steep as a ladder. There’s 3 ships and a submarine that you can go aboard and check out the inner workings of a naval vessel. From sleeping quarters to the chow hall, all the way to the engine of a battleship, you get to see what it was like aboard these pieces of history. There’s also a land museum before you board the vessels that you can check out on your way in, out or both. There’s a food court on the battleship that has your typical type food. Hamburgers, chicken fingers, French fries a few other items and soft drinks. The price has risen a bit over the years and I hope it stays where it’s at. That’s the reason for the 4 star instead of the 5 star. However, there’s sometimes a groupon for the Cove!

Royalty Cruz

This is a very beautiful and historical place ! Great bord walk and awesome view . Big free parking lot and visible from the main Street, also close to North and South main Street if your looking for a quick bite or a coffee. There's a place you can sit and have picnics and there are picnic tables and chairs. The museum is there as well and right around the corner there's another one with a restaurant.

Cara Hallinan

We had a great time, it was on the pricer side for my whole gang. But it was worth every penny. The kids had such a blast and even us adults too. It was a lot of up and down and crawling through smaller doors. But you got to experience what our great service men and woman did and do. Thank you for having great attractions like this to teach our children about the history of our country and what it means to serve and be part of our great country.

Danielle A

The boardwalk is nice to going walking, jogging or running also has benches and picnic tables the maritime museum I havnt been able to see due to time restrictions.

K. PEREZ

This was very interesting and very informative a whole day event. Lots history. Loved it. Recommended.

Ginger Williams

This place is fantastic. So much history to see on a self guided tour. You are able to take as much time as needed to see everything. Thank you to all who seved on these magnificent ships.

Martiaan M

Great place to go to. So much to see where they normally don't allow you to go in.

Mr. Robo

Well, this place is excellent! I’ve gone here multiple times! The ship may be old and need repairs, but it’s still a piece of history that we need to mark, hence the donating stuff in the front gift shop, and in the ships dining hall.

Yamilet Garcia

Absolutely beautiful. My boys loved it

Ryne Wood

Absolutely incredible collection of naval history! Definitely worth the visit. There's so much to see and do between the four ships and the museum. Give yourself plenty of time to do it all!

Jade Kaegael

Love the battle ships and the carousel my kids would go on every day if I let them

Jon Goldberg

An excellent piece of history, thankfully preserved and not scrapped by the Navy. Well maintained over time. Great to see how the staff is proud of being a part of it. I recommend the school or scout sleepovers - have done it several times. For stayovers, get a top bunk, bring ear plugs and sleep mask. It's a great opportunity.

Katrina Hale

Cool to visit but not a time killer

Padraic Hagan

Amazing place for a serious fan of naval history, just someone with just casual interest, or anyone in between. Multiple historic ships and aircraft. Set aside a full day.

David B

They used to have lots of interactive classes during camp nights. Now, other than a short group movie, u just walk around and look at videos from the nice vet who served on the boat and died in 2018 at 94 years old. It feels more like a tomb than a museum.

Joshua Welch

The battleship has lots of interesting exhibits inside. This is not a mobility assistance friendly venue. There are lots of steep stair cases and narrow passages. I enjoyed the ship as well as the exhibits there.

Dale Hennessey

Absolutely horrible. My son-in-law and 6 year old grandson drove 2 1/2 hours to participate in a scouting event, and the ship lost power just after 7 PM. All these small boys and their parents were made to leave the interior and wait out on the deck in the cold and dark. My grandson was sobbing from being so cold, so tired, and so disappointed. There was no warm space provided. They were told several times that the power would soon be restored, but after 3 hrs (10:00 pm!!), and still no power, no warmth, and no place to sleep, they had to pack up to drive back home. They won't be back until after midnight. Again, we are talking about 6 year olds. Poor planning on the part of the museum, and they are terrible for allowing these kids to remain in such a dangerous situation. We will be demanding a full refund on the $140 fee for the event. As far a gas and supplies, we're out of luck. Edited 4/9/2019 to reflect we were offered passes for another trip. Thanks to those involved for resolving this unfortunate situation.

Rylie Stone

If you enjoy these types of museums this is a great place to visit. There is so much to see. The battleship has so much that is open to see. Several decks are available to tour. This was a great experience.

john lee

excellent place to visit with kids, helps them imagine the enormity of what active service members and veterans do/have done to protect the US

J Crowfoot

The sense of history here is palpable; to actually tread the decks where so many incredible events unfolded, to see and stand in the places where these men and women lived, worked and served is intense and humbling for anyone who has the honor of coming aboard all of these ships or walk through the display halls. It allows you to peer into and experience the past in a manner unlike any other; to hear the voices of those who served through so many terrible conflicts and momentous turning points in history. You could visit many, many times and find something new and awe-inspiring every time - but more than that, a new and deepening appreciation and connection to times, which though may have gone by, none the less continue to resonate to this day. History is not a static thing; it's a living, breathing continuum reflecting what was passed to us and informs our responsibility to what will be passed to those who will come after. The value of this shrine, "America's Fleet Museum", cannot be understated and is certainly not something to be missed!

Jack Carr

Great historical place and a beautiful memorial to the 9/11 victims from massachusetts

Kevin Walsh

Incredible piece of history. Place really make you think about the sacrifice these men and women made to keep us free. Awe inspiring exhibits. Definitely a great visit for history buffs and even for normal americans.

Letha Morris

Enjoyed toured two ships and a sub here. We spent four hours looking at every thing. Thank you to all of the American service men who built and manned these vessels in war and peace time. Awesome to see them

Jesse Jarvis

We spent hours there and still didn't see it all. Lots of history! Definitely going back.

Keith Osborne

If you have any interest at all in wartime shipping this is an excellent visit. There is extensive amounts to see on all the floating ships. The sheer size of the USS Massachusettes is pretty inspiring. An added bonus is the entry fee covers you for two days which is great considering the size of the ships and the amount to explore.

Joe Lataille

Fun for kids and adults, really friendly staff, lots to see and learn. Tickets are good for two days and if you are with little ones the second day can be very useful.

jvmusic 107

One of the coolest attractions around. The ships are amazing and fun to explore. It’s the largest display of navy ships in the country!!!

Kevin Duffy

Great experience for kids and history lovers.

Tom Brown

Excellent overnight program. Participants are allowed in any area of the ship that is unlocked. This museum is living history, you can feel and experience the things that the crew of those famous WW2 battleship participated in. Of particular interest are the living areas for the crew. It's amazing that so many sailors lived in close quarters for such a long period of time.

Michael Ethier

Great Naval history. Well done.

Moto Man

Pretty cool to see the battleships and submarine from the 1940s to the 1990s. There was lots to see and study. Pretty impressive to look at the things man can create. From wooden boats to massive steel ships. The bullets for the 3 big guns were right in front of them and were the size of a 4 year old and probably weighed 200lbs. How i would travel just to see that sob pop off. Sad part was realizing that it was made to kill people. Then i was looking around and appalled at the condition of the ships that were outdoors. These must have cost us tens if not hundreds or millions of dollars and are rotting away. The decks had holes everywhere and were definitely not ship shape. And the walls in the memorial room covered with the names of hundreds if not thousands of people killed in action. It was pretty morbid. I felt like i was at a funeral of my 4th step cousing 3 times removed. Nevertheless there was an air conditioned cafeteria with food and ice cream in the newest destroyer. This was much needed as the inside of the ships can easily be 90+ degrees. Bring lots of water if you are going on a warm day and have fun.

Bader Almutairi

What a nice museum. If you ever wondered how submarines and destroyers look a like, this is the place to explore. Lots of things to see. You can zip by it fast in two to three hours or if you want to explore more in details, you might need at least a couple of visits. If you are around the area, when you pay for the visit to the battleship cove, then make sure to keep your paid badges for it is for free to enter the very next day. This promotion works sure on the weekend but i am not sure about the weekdays.

Mark Lammers

Nice collection of ships & a submarine. Some things need painting. But worth it.

SuarMc5

Great time with kids! How often do you get to go in an actual battleship and submarine?

Cameron Rankin

Really cool Place to go and explore U.S. Naval History. Only complaint was how much of it was closed to visitors. We couldn't even go aboard Hiddensee at all.

Brian Busath

You get to explore a bunch of ships at your own leisure and pleasure and without many restrictions. What more could you want?

Brendon Hoch

Great adventure with our scout pack. Wish they had provided more information in advance with regards to overnight parking locations as lots filled up fast. Queuing up for meals took extensive time. Dinner is pasta, meatballs & roll with milk. Breakfast is eggs, sausage oj & banana or orange. They ran out of coffee and fruit. Galley chef didn't respond to preevevent email from parent about food allergies. Snack bar opened after dinner and ran out of food & cash (credit card only) But the experience of visiting these ships is unmatched. I went in 1985 as a kid and my visit this time was more memorable than ever! Definitely got my money's worth!

michael houle

very informative. you need two days here to see it all

Ned Shanahan

Great experience! Inspires gratitude towards all veterans, especially those who served in the WW2 Pacific.

Brian Cummings

Hidden gem. WWII-era ships and a lesson in history. Great location. Take a walk along the boardwalk to The Cove, if you have a chance.

Mike Normandin

Awesome view with battleship and braga bridge with boats all around.

Jeff Chaiken

This stop was not on our list of visits but we were happy that we decided to take the time and explore it. Having one of our parents working at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and being able to visit it on many occasions, this visit brought back fond memories. It is well worth the admission price. Our only disappointment was that we were unable to visit the museum that is associated with it.

Craig Smith

This is a great floating museum, the ships are well cared for and the exhibits are fun and informative. The best part though, is that your tickets are good for admission for two consecutive days!

Regina Paltis

Plenty of free parking. Only one restaurant across the parking lot, otherwise you just have popcorn and soda to buy. You can easily spend a whole day here. Carousel was kind of lousy. Ride is very short, ride spins too fast, music speakers are so quiet that you can only hear it if you stand right next to them and staff only allow 24 people on at a time even though there are at least 40 seats so line goes very slow. The ships are great though.

Rosemarie Watkins

I love going there with my boyfriend so beautiful

Robert Bangiyev

Highly recommend for history buffs and people who want the experience of being on a battleship. There's a lot to learn from the information signs, and a lot of interesting old technology.

John Adams

Visited the museum to see the ships especially the P.T. Boats . My Dad served on a P.T. Boat during World War 2. Seeing them gave me a better understanding about what he did. Thank You to them.

Dave Schneider

Cannot recommend highly enough for those with an interest. If you think this maybe up your alley I promise you it is.

Nathan Bissell

The USS Massachusetts is an incredible museum. There are so many small hidden gems on board, it will take several visits to take it all in. I spent the night on board with my son's Cub Scout pack, and it was an incredible experience. This museum receives no federal funding, so please give generously!

Madmatt D

Very cool place to bring 3 boys. Ages 4yr, 9 , to 15 and myself had a great time exploring these various naval ships. The submarine, was probably the favorite although I did have a couple moments of claustrophobia, luckily it's pretty well ventilated so that helped. Fun time, worth an outing.

Rachel Ecker

We had a great time at Battle ship cove and the maritime museum. While we were there there we’re hundreds of Boy Scouts just getting there with their suitcases and sleeping bags for a sleepover. I think this is great for the kids but it was a little inconvenient for us. It seemed like they started getting there between 2-3pm. It was really fun. Keep in mind if you use a walker or wheelchair that this activity at battleship cove is not accessible because the battleships were not designed accessible. The museum is accessible for wheelchairs. Also even though we were the only ones in the cafeteria- the cashier would not break a bill for quarters for the penny souvenir machine and the change machine was broken - I was pretty upset about that because my daughter collects those and she wasnt able to get one :(

Aimy Gagnon

Great family adventure & history learning

Kathleen Ursin

Expensive entrance fee particularly for families and seniors ($23 p/p). Battleship USS MA is big and impressive with lots of historical and museum material on WWII and naval exploits. Attempt made to define 4 separate self guided tours around ship but signs impossible to follow. Steep ladders and small passageways require agility and stamina. Tour thru submarine USS Lionfish was most amazing!

Colin Thibault

Awesome to learn what it was like to operate in those ships.

Alex K

I originally assumed that this would be like other Battleships i've toured with a very restrictive path you can take. But to my surprise, and the disdain of my schedule, basically the entire Battleship is open to walk around. The submarine is also easily accessible with cuts made for real stairs which was nice since getting through the bulkheads within was still kinda a struggle and im only 5'9". I didn't have time to tour the destroyer, but I'd imagine its just as expansive as the battleships tour ability was. Sadly, the East German ship was undergoing repairs which meant it was off limits, but the PT boat exhibit was very fascinating and well made up for it and should not be overlooked.

Agustta Stevens

So much to see, i wish we had more time in the area!

Joe Chace

Whole place is self guided. Color-coded signs take you through the Massachusetts, showing all but the very bottom deck. Nearly the whole ship can be seen.

Kit Guy

I have seen the USS Iowa, USS Missouri and now I've been to Battleship Cove. I love museum ships. The USS Massachusetts is hands down the best museum ship I've been on. Compared to the Iowa class ships, BB59 is still in WW II configuration which is awesome vs the updated 80's recommisioned configuration of the Iowa class ships. The thing that makes it awesome is the insane access to all the machinery and turret spaces vs. The Iowa class ships. On the Missouri you can get into the gun house, Broadway and engine/fire room by paying extra for an in depth guided tour. No access to the undersides of the turret though. On the Iowa there is no access at all to those spaces. On the Massachusetts you have full access to the gun house, powder magazines, annular spaces, and the inner workings of the turret as well as the machinery spaces at your own pace, all as they were in WW II. DD 850 has similar access. It is really impressive they got all those spaces accessible to the public. Really awesome place to be, superior experience to both the Iowa and Missouri (they are awesome too.)

Jason Rosario

Such a great experience. Lots to see and take in. Definitely a great opportunity to learn about how these battleships were used. This is great museum for naval history. Went when I was younger but I never truly understood what I was experiencing. Now as an adult reading all the facts and taking in all the details made it so much more enjoyable. Parking was good. Ticket prices are pretty fair considering how much you can see. Staff was friendly. And the views you get are pretty awesome. Definitely a great activity you can take the family on.

James Wallace

Since the 1970s! Well worth a visit! Ensure you wear good walking shoes and your stamina.

Brian Gratton

Great access to the ships' interiors, informative plaques, well maintained history.

Ashley Evins

Be careful when climbing down the ladders when theyre wet. Very quiet place with many self guided tour options and selfie spots available

SAMANTHA SMITH

After leaving in New England for over 34 yrs I finally made it to Battleship Cove! Boy, I was NOT disappointed! It's a self guided tour which is amazing. You go at your own pace, do what you want to do. You have almost full access to everything on the ships. You can feel the history come to life as you walk around. I had 4 younger kids with me (I was the only adult, brave I know!) They had a blast!!!! Highly, highly suggested!

Play Doh

We really loved this place ! We spent the night with the cub scouts. They all had a great time. One item of note, we slept near what I believe to be the heating system, and when that thing turns on it is LOUD. I mean wake up the kids terrible night sleep loud. If you can sleep fat away from that it would be good. Other than that, amazing, what a spectacular and educational museum, definitely one of the best things to visit in all of New England ! The ships are incredible and you can really explore them. I highly recommend a visit ! My son was five and he loved climbing around everywhere, you really get to go into the bowels of the ships and submarine ! It's wicked awesome !

Kri G

It has great views, it is a nice place to walk around. Heritage State park is so interesting as is the Battleship Cove area

Chris Oakley

The last time I was here I had a great day.

Connie Rammer

This was a great find and definitely should be on your to do list. A great way to spend time with the family and learn about history. We spent a lot of time exploring these ships. So much to see once inside these ships.

Steven Forder

Great spot for the whole family. Takes a good half day to get around all the ships. Kids loved seeing the iconic USS Massachusetts up close and exploring all the exhibits. Lots of history and very informative. Can be easy to get lost below decks though so stick together.

Nick Mayer

Great multitude of exhibits and everything was very well maintained. They do also offer good discount for military admission and at the gift shop.

Rob M

Very interesting. Could have spent a lot more time there. Allow at least half a day, depending on how much of a ship and history buff you are.

Princess

Very interesting and fun Ave to bring energetic kids..lotz to explore not to mention they can have their very own personal dog tags made in the gift shop! Definitely save it for an early spring or fall visit as it gets extremely uncomfortable in the sun on thousands of pounds of steel.

Jennifer Mannherz

Fantastic museum. There was so much to see. Very educational. Kids had a blast, a lot of climbing up and down in small spaces on the actual ships. Went on an overnight trip with the scouts and sleep in one if the bunks, captains rooms. Best trip yet.

TimeTravel NEWS

Awesome place for the summertime, good place to jog at always safe and running here for 7 years never had any problems late at night but becareful and a good place to play Pokemon go. Plus the museum has a great views and the interior of the battleship is highly Underrated so get in there while you can and tell them Tony sent you.

Shmuel Shmuel

Excellent exhibits, well preserved and impressive. But best go there with someone who understands the material, since there are no guided tours.

Cheese soda

Great place to visit, gift shop great, got a nice titanic model for 6 bucks!!

Heather Irwin

This was an awesome way to spend an afternoon! We got to walk around multiple ships - climbing up top and inside of them! I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area! The museum was closed when we went, but we still loved it!

Ralph Kruse

As a US NAVY VETERAN I was thoroughly impressed. My 15 year old grandson was full of questions and I was honored to have the answers. We did not have time to visit all the ships but will return next year to finish where we left off! KUDOS to all who make this history stay alive!!

Daniel Wills

Excellent and highly unique museum experience. They're doing a great job of updating the facility. Kids are still a bit young to understand what they're seeing but they love exploring the vessels. Planning on making this an annual visit.

**rating edited as to reflect Beth willing to offer passes to another overnight or family day passes. Hoping for a better experience, as my son wants so badly to enjoy Battleship Cove. My son was so excited for his trip, he talked about it for months. The power went out, which is out of their control, yes, but protocol was not in place. Everyone was told to stand on deck in the cold. Around 8 PM a staff member said they were setting up an area inside that would be ready in 10 minutes and then never came back up. Around 8:45 my son was freezing and exhausted to went to wait in the car until 9 when the power was supposedly going to be back on. At 9 there was still no power and no interior place offered to go in, if there was, the "Talented staff" on deck never mentioned it to those standing out in the cold at this time. At 9:30 the power was still not on. Upon getting his things from the bunk area, no lighted interior was seen or offered by staff. Left to drive 3 hours back home at 9:40 when power was still not on. Staff said they could not issue refunds and would have to call Beth during the week. Conveniently, the phone is not picked up and the voicemail is full. $140 for two people to watch an introduction video, eat spaghetti, and freeze is insane. This is so wrong, especially when concerning small children. We expect a refund.

Chris Walgenbach

Spent almost 4 hours touring the two ships, sub and PT boat building. Very interesting, nice setup. Only complaint: some of the upkeep needs attention (missing room plaques, graffiti on a couple description signage, trash on museum grounds/bathroom).

David Boyle

Wonderful old boats you can explore

Mark Clancy

Very interesting, lot of walking.

Phillip Lewis

Great place, the self guided tour of the ships on location is both fun and educational.

Juli Grey

Nice to see history in person. Lots of stuff to see. My favorite is they allow you to explore freely and soak in what it was like. I highly recomend going here and the kids love it.

Justin Palmer

Battleship Massachusetts awesome to see. Self guided tour leaves something to be desired. Many parts closed.

One of the real highlights of our summer. Being able to see the PT Boats, and all the other ships on self guided tours was great. The videos really added to the experiance. We were able to stay on our boat in the mooring field parked right next to the ships. Watch for our video on this experience on YouTube SVJUS DREAMING

Really enjoy visiting these ships. The ships are showing their age but the museum and volunteers are doing what they can

Cub scout pack overnight. Great to explore and learn.

My Dad served on "Big Mamie" during WWII, so supporting this living history museum is a source of family pride.

Loved it the people are so nice it's very like wow breathtaking to be in an actual ship that was in a battle and the food is good but it's expensive it's amazing inside there this is all I have but I am so going again so worth the price of tickets $$

A must stop for travellers and anyone interested in maritime history. Largest display of naval ships in the world and the museum has a great collection of artifacts. Includes the largest scale model of the Titanic in the world and history of the Fall River Line cruise ships.

Susan Souza

Very interesting place. If you like boating and are interested in how it relates locally then stop in, it's worth it!!

We went to an event posted on "World of Warships" (A computer warship game) on the USS. Massachusetts. This wargame show points all the World War II era ships from all over the world. It is a great history buff game. We all had a blast doing a scavenger hunt on the ship, and talking to the volunteers who were working on fixing up the ship. The views from all the decks of the ship were fantastic, we saw and learned so much from this trip. We also were able to go on a submarine and two other ships docked there along with checking out all their museums. It was very interesting to me and my family. I have a much greater appreciation for our past and present sailors working is such limited space. Talk about space, so many very narrow hallways and stairs to get through and navigate, my poor knees and head. And I would do it again if I have the chance.

Very neat place, with several ships including one main battleship and one submarine. The boardwalk allows you to enjoy the view of the ships and the river without having to pay for it.

Wow Wow

its great that this BB isn't scrapped, however, for the amount of money charged for admission, it should be in better shape. in reality, many of these military museums are expensive. kinda rediculous. I get that it costs money to run something like this, but this one is exoensive and in a terrible condition. there's so much rust, I felt a bit uncomfortable being on it. additionally, there was no "guide" or any employees to ask questions or a map that I could use to get around. if there was one, it wasn't given to me or visible for me to take. very run down BB compared to others around the nation. I felt bad for uss Massachusetts. she should be in a better care.

Great history museum for the military fanatic!

It's fascinating to see and walk on such a big piece of history. Kids loved wandering the battleship decks and guns. I went on Free Friday (which explains all the families and camp groups). Otherwise it would be pretty expensive. But if you love big old ships, give it a try.
