DESCRIPTION

You will see all the information of people like you who know the products and services of USCGC Taney (Museum) in the state of Maryland.

At the moment this business has a score of 4.7 over 5 and the rating was based on 116 reviews.

As you can read, the average score it has is basically the best one, and it's based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the assessment is quite accurate. If people have bothered to give their opinion when they've done well, is that it works.

As you know, we don't usually bother to set reviews when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...

This Museum is classified in the category of Maritime museum.

USCGC Taney was my favorite of the Historic Ships in Baltimore. Definitely worth checking out and exploring this ship and it's important history.

The biggest of the ships on display in the inner harbor. A very interesting history celebrating the ship's military and civilian service. Expect about 45 min to complete the self guided tour

The ship was cool, and the tour was very informative, but I had some issue with the overnight program. As an adult, I was required to perform a night watch shift at 1 in the morning, despite the fact that there were 6 staff members also sleeping on the ship at the same time. I'm still youthful, so it wasn't a big problem, but other adults in my group were much older, and not entirely expecting this. If you are going to have 6 staff on the boat who are being PAID, you should be watching the ship, not me. Overall, if you aren't an adult doing the night program, it's a really cool ship.

Solid tour however, it seems Baltimore doesn't give this ship the significance it deserves.

We did the overnight experience with the boy scouts and it was absolutely fantastic. We got to stay in the bunks that sailors slept in, we did General Quarters drills, we did a simulation of the ship leaking and needing to be secured. We got to see the Engine rooms in detail and the guns up close. We toured the bridge and the cic rooms. Very interesting and fun. Got a lot of extra history and learned a lot. Got to eat in the mess and tour many other components. If you get the chance to do this, I highly recommend it.

"The last Survivor of Pearl Harbor" - incredibly significant and unique ship. You can't find anything quite like this vessel anywhere else! It was built during the Great Depression and never stopped serving our country all over the world for more than 50 years. Saving lives and enforcing our laws in peace, defending our country and helping our allies in World War 2 and Vietnam.

I was stationed on Taney 1980 - 82. It was awesome to visit this truly amazing ship. I think everyone would enjoy this tour. The USCGC TANEY WMEC - 37 is full of American history.

This 1935 US Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) saw action and successfully defended herself during the 1941 Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor! She served in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of World War II, seeing much combat action. Her last duties of World War II were to help evacuate American prisoners of war from mainland Japan. After her WWII service, she performed many peacetime Coast Guard duties and was called to action for the Vietnam War. All in all, the USCGC Taney served over 50 years, retiring in 1986!

I served aboard CGC Taney as a member of the Coast Guard Reserve in the early 60’s. She was the best of the three cutters based in Alameda CA due to being purpose built as a CG Cutter. The only thing I can’t find in the photographs is the garbage chute located port side. When the ride got rough I spent some time there until I got my sea legs.

Very cool ship with very reasonable admission prices. Definitely check this place out if you're a navy buff and want to learn more about marine boats. Stairways are a bit narrow and steep but not a problem. Headroom is limited but enough where you don't have to strain yourself. Not many people when I visited so it was great to enjoy the boat without people crowding in. A lovely hidden gem.

Interesting to see a ship that saw service in WW2 and before. Not only was it cool to be able to tour most parts of the ship, but there were memorabilia, videos, posters etc. that gave a good idea of the ship's history.
