Really nice place. Good museum.
We were there during the Plebe orientation and that caused some flashbacks to my Corps Of Cadets days at TAMU. We went to the Visitor center and Museum. If you are a naval or ship model buff you should give yourself several hours at the Museum. Of course, when in Annapolis walk around and enjoy this historic town, restaurants, the docks and shops.
Very fascinating and comprehensive view of American naval history
Lots of history .
Awesome place to be, must do if visiting DC.
I loved it and definitely amazing tourist attraction wonderful for the kids and great restaurants
Loyalty, dedication to Country, History of the USA and the USN/USMC. Proud of my family’s Naval Heritage.
The second floor ship models are jaw dropping in the painstaking attention to detail. Truly remnants of a different age, mentality and mindset.
A must if here. Absolutely amazing
Amazing, every American should visit this historic part of our country. It is the U.S. Naval Academy!
I enjoyed this museum, make sure to check out the second floor with the shipyard models.
Beautiful campus, salt Lobster Seafood roll.
Such a beautiful campus. If you very the chance to visit, you should take it.
Free museum open to the public. The second floor is full of model ships, all of them are models of old sailing warships. They have several models made completely out of bone. The first floor is the museum with a full history of the navy, a scattering of artifacts but mostly just reading information about each time period. You can do this museum fast or slow depending on how much reading you want to do. Definitely check it out when visiting the academy.
Great place to visit . The model boats are really gorgeous
Love the Naval Academy, but I am an Army girl. #GoArmyBeatNavy
This is one jam packed museum. If you want to take it all in, be sure to leave yourself at least an hour. The first floor is full of info on the history of the academy and it's students. The second floor is full of awesome shop models. Be sure to make your way to the back of the second floor.
Excellent tour. Great gift shop with military discount. Beautiful chapel. Museum was very full. So much to see. Plan on a whole day or more.
Awesome museum!
Great collection of model ships, historical vignettes and a glimpse into naval life in times past. Make sure to notice all the prisoner made models in bone.
Really cool, but remember to bring your id!
We've visited tons of Smithsonian's and have enjoyed their military exhibits. The location on the Academy doesn't have the same footage or big name but it is way better. It was a wonderful shock. The place is overflowing with artifacts, knowledge, visuals, a must see spot.
Awesome, had a great time saw a lot amazing.
Amazing collection of artifacts detailing the history of the United States Navy and United States Naval Academy. The second deck houses a wonderful collection of model ships from the Age of Sail.
Should have come earlier as we ran out of time. Enjoyable to those who like Maritime history. Unbelievable models.
Great atmosphere and lots of history. The people are. Very knowledgeable about the history of the location and exhibit
Excellent
I am a perspective Naval Academy Midshipman and I learned a lot from visiting here.
Very interesting museum.
The model ship exhibit is amazing.
Wonderful collection of rare nautical memorabilia
Large area, go on a nice day
Nice museum.
This place is very cool!!! Plus my Uncle just happens to work there!!
Very cool place, definitely recommend but you need enough time to see everything or just go twice.
It is my favorite professional development destination in summer. Hard to navigate without a good sense of direction though.
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. You can feel the history when you step foot on the academy grounds. Extremely clean and well maintained, easily walk and navigate your way around with great signage. Multiple photo opportunities around the grounds and the harbor. A must see for everyone.
If you like military aircraft, this is the place. Also saw the Blue Angel's. Most excellent. Spent an entire day here. All free!
The US Naval Academy has a beautiful campus full of historical artifacts, ship models and paintings that you can see absolutely free. It's a nice place to take your family to learn a little about US Naval history.
Well worth the time. Just have your walking shoes on.
Perfect collection of ships from wood and animals bones. French prisoners made it from animal bones. You can see so old authentic examples. Awards, books, knifes. A lot of interesting things.
Beautiful campus and facility
Great museum of Naval history with an emphasis on prominent USNA alumni and founders. Has special exhibits.
An awesome museum of Naval History. The Naval Academy is an amazing campus and an awesome place to visit. The museum is free and is very cool. There are a lot of exhibits displaying the entire history of the US Navy. The Crypt of John Paul Jones is nearby as well and a must see.
Very interesting
Great time. Thankful for the men and women of the USN
Wonderful place to visit.
Unbelievable!! Can't wait to visit again!!
Amazing. Must see the Museum. The staff are knowledgeable as well! Very fun time.
Lots of interesting exhibits and I particularly liked the model wooden ships on the top floor
Simply amazing, a must see if you are in the area.
Very interesting, more exhibits than I had expected. Everyone was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable while sharing information related to the artifacts. Parking was a little tricky considering civilian status, we had to park off base followed with a very short walk once inside.
Wow. Second floor.
You really need two days to tour the United States Naval Academy!
Absolutely amazing place, completely free as well.
Incredible models of sailing ships, several hundred years old. However, lighting and displays not too great.
A nice museum for the nautically inclined. Some great historical, interactive displays. To really benefit from the time put into the exhibits you need to plan on spending several hours here. But, worth it. A lot of amazing recreations of historic ships. Helpful volunteers, just ask.
Very exhaustive and high quality displays
The first floor is a timeline of the US Navy, showing how it's evolved over the history of our country. The upper floor contains a collection of ship models carved during the early years of our country, and dockyard models for ships. The detail on the models is fantastic, and the place is well worth a visit. Parking may be an issue.
Very informative. Lots to take in.
There are two parts to the museum. The first level follows the history of the Navy and presents an impressive collection of artifacts to tell that story. The second level displays a collection of incredibly rare model ships from "the age of sail". These are both beautiful and historic, having been built as blueprints for the actual historic ships from the 17th and 18th century. If you live close enough, it's definitely worth a day trip.
Awesome model ships
Awesome experience A++
A treasure trove of model ships.
Great history displays. Spent 2 hours could have stayed a couple more. Wonderful models of historic military ships.
Very interesting, great ship models
We really enjoyed our visit to the museum. It was very informative and the displays were very detailed. Definitely worth visiting. I have two little boys and they loved seeing the model boats on the second floor. Very cool and elaborate!
US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md displays beautifully part of naval history. I had a wonderful experience visiting this place. It made me want to look up for more information about the ships, the history, the brave sailors. It is really something to see.
I had a very educational day along with a short cruise enjoyed the day with my grandson
This is a great museum, especially if you are into model ship replicas. The historical elements are very interesting.
Amazing history! Tons of great artifacts and models, handmade centuries ago. Larger than it seems from outside.
Huge place! Be prepared to walk a lot. Walking tours are pricey but useful.
See this Museum if you love tall ships, naval history, model making, the Navy, the Marines, or Annapolis. But see the museum website for the correct hours, about 9 to 4, not 7 to 3:30 as posted on Google 8/4/14. On the Academy grounds, so you must show photo ID at the gate.
Great place to visit when you are on campus. Very cool to see all the wood model ships and all the naval history. Friendly and knowledgeable staff too.
Museum was very interesting. Model ship exhibit is extensive and very interesting. Plan at least 2 hour visit to academy.
Great museum in Annapolis.
My family loved this place. We live near Independence Seaport museum and they love it there so learning about boats and this place is full of that. My kids were expecting BOATS though like at the seaport. They do performances that are amazing though. It has more of a school though hence Naval Academy.
Lots of neat items in here. Most fascinating for me was the extensive collection of model ships, especially those made from bone.
The museum is what we should expect from the United States Naval Academy. The ship models alone make it worth the trip.
A small, interesting museum with a good amount of varied, US Naval artifacts. Highly recommend for those who are interested in history and naval military affairs!
One of the best museums in the Annapolis/Baltimore/DC area! Definitely your go-to location for USNA history, but this museum is also perfect for greater (American) naval history. One of the best model ship collections in the world, and some incredible guest speakers are frequently invited to town for some amazing lectures. Definitely worth the visit!
Loved it omg
Probably the best military museum I have visited. Went there with my Marine son.
Museum very good. A unique view of USA history. Amazing swords and naval silver dining service. Good animations of battles clarify the action. NO PARKING and NO PICK NICKING inside the fence. Hard to find parking and hard to find which entrance to use.
On the first floor is a museum about the history of the Navy and the Marines. Starts from the very beginning and moves through history and the different battles and then goes into air, subs, nuclear, and space. Upstairs are the most amazing ship models. The rest of the Naval academy is worth checking out too.
Great food and friendly bar. My phone battery was dead and they had outlets. Oysters yum. recommend highly/ Go Navy 61' beat Army
Great gift shop for veterans
Very amazing
The ship build models are excellent.
I AM A NAVY VETERAN.
Enjoyed it
Love this place! Such proud tradition!
If you like Museums, boats or the Navy. Must see.
Excellent museum. Entire history of the US Navy. Incredible collection of model ships. Most models were built in the 17th and 18th century and are incredibly detailed.

A great little stop on your trip through Annapolis
Really cool and awesome exhibits
Great history. Great traditions. Captures the pride of America.
Very very interesting. Lots and lots of history of how the Navy started to the present.
Awesome
Great place to learn about the history of the Navy!
Make sure you see the bone carved sail ships in the second floor in the back
Excellent museum for learning about the history of the United States Naval Academy specifically, but the Navy in general as well. If you’re going to visit the Naval Academy, be sure to add this to your list of activities. Well worth the time, and it’s free.
If you like model shops, this is the place to go. 2nd floor all models, 1st floor is random history items.
Excellent
Very cool and guides are very informative
It was very fascinating to see all the ship replicas n then the navy's history through time. Plus the bone ships that were originally made by prisoners out out scraps from dinner etc.
I actually didn't hate it, but... I didn't read ahead of time you need identification-drivers license to enter, so.. I never saw anything because we couldn't go in. So... BRING IDENTIFICATION with you.
Very informative and interesting museum on naval history of US. Volunteers are fantastic and very dedicated. Bone ship models collection made by POWs is impressive.
An amazing museum with a great atmosphere and great learning experiences
This should be on every American's bucket list. You can see lots of artifacts from our Naval heroes. The museum is organized on a timeline so that one can walk through history. I was rather impressed at seeing a folding knife that John Paul Jones use to carry around. It looked more like a folding sword to me. I kind of think John Paul Jones was what people call today, "A little crazy".
So much to see and learn about. Definitely recommend going.
Interesting displays of Navy history, ships and sailors. Worth the trip.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this museum! Highly recommend a walk around the campus and a stop in here.
I love this part of the academy. The bone ship section is my favorite part. Amazingly detailed models made from bone fragments; Chicken, pork, beef, whatever the sailors had that night. Really cool to look at and the details are amazing. There is so much to see it will take you a long time, even if you are not a usual museum person.
Cool but some things did not work but interesting
Great place with lots of history behind it. The little theater was interesting but the ships on the 2nd floor were amazing! The church next door was awesome too.
Very nice tour....
GREAT museum! Make sure You go upstairs to their wooden ship museum, it's one of the best collections I've ever seen! AND Whatever You Do, DO NOT miss visiting John Paul Jones' Tomb in the crypt beneath the Naval Academy Chapel! When they built the Chapel, they didnt know where Jones' body was, but they built the crypt anticipating that one day they WOULD find him! The story of the discovery of his final resting place (in Paris) is incredible! MAKE SURE NOT TO MISS IT!
Interesting way to spend the day.
One of the best Museums I have ever been to. Wonderful artifacts, wonderful history and information. Very few people visit and its FREE! It's the best kept secret for museums, I'm surprised there isn't more people visiting this place.
Could spend hours here and learn about the major naval engagements.
So much cool history to see. Truly amazing!
The museum is a beautiful tour of the US Navy's history.
Very interesting tours. Guides excellent!!
Awesome museum full of naval history. Admission is free and well worth the trip.
The u.s. naval academy is a great place to go and walk around that museums in the academy are fantastic looking at great people that served this country sports museum is awesome.
The Marine Corps part is outstanding
Love yhe displays and all the history! Give yourself plenty of time to wander, read and take the tour. Well worth it! Go Navy!
Lots of interesting displays and artifacts from Naval history. Very well presented. Not too much or too little, hits the sweet spot for education and entertainment.
A lot of history
Very interesting. Love the model ships.
Excellent museum of ships
A must see when in Annapolis. I have a greater appreciation for our service men and women after visiting.
Excellent tour with a knowledgeable guide. Great for anyone who likes history and tradition.
Great place to visit. First floor have history of US Navy. Second floor have ship models dating back to the 1500's. Incredible display.
Beautiful grounds nice museum Enjoyed Our visit we got there late should a start it way earlier
Rich with history and displays.
This place will make you proud to be American
Impressive but MUST take walking guided tour to get the MOST from your visit.
A really decent museum that covers many aspects of United States Navy history.
The perment exhibition of ship models is fascinating. The current exhibit of us navel history from. John Paul Jones to the astronauts is great. Got to see stuff from some of the navel hero's I had only read about.
We were so deeply lost in the amazing history in this wonderful museum, we had to be dragged out to make our drive home. One of our favorite spots on the Yard for us.
Beautiful campus!
As a tourist, this is a really interesting place to visit. The guided tours are excellent and full of history from former servicepeople (although not necessarily alumni from the college). The tour takes a couple of hours and you'll go inside some of the buildings and hear lots of stories about what it's like to train here. Worth the effort to visit if you're in town - whether you're a foreigner or an American.
It's more than a Naval Museum, many of the exhibits and captions encompassed the history in it's entirety. Friendly and knowledgeable help desk too.
