If electronics (specifically radio signals) are your thing then it's worth the trip to check this place out. There is so much on the history and plenty of interactive stations that it will keep you busy learning of at least an hour or better.

Beverly Cornish

This place was close to my hotel. I'd never heard of it before and decided to check it out. Detailed advances we've had in electronics (both home and military) and had lots of hands-on activities to help explain an alert of electronics. Recommend 3hrs to check out each display. Also have one display that changes periodically, which was called the Edison exhibit when I went. Fascinating place that is very detailed and entertaining in it's explanations. Gift shop very small and located in the lobby, but that didn't bother me much. Highly recommend.

This is a really neat place and you can learn a lot! I didn't realize there was such a cool museum right in our backyard! Definitely plan to go back here again and again. The kids enjoyed it!

This place is brilliant! They have great events and programs. They go into great detail of explaining their exhibits, and have fun hands-on exhibits too! The staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful.

Rowland

It doesn't seem much from the outside but it is so informative! Taking one star off because there is bench to rest.

Mike Whalen

You got to be kidding, there's is a museum for electronics?! First, the museum is practically free (5 bucks for 2 people). We were literally the only people in the facility so we had room to spread out and take our time. Next its was largely interactive. Most all of the fixed dioramas were interactive so it's a terrific spot for kids. Would highly recommend anyone burned up by the crowds and expense of the dc museums!!!

Old mil radar stuff, and assorted commercial others like Heathkit, and participatory (hand crank generator to light bulb, etc) Ham radio and other classes available. Library and events like RobotFest and Electronica (eGen~Music) about six months apart... Small sales of some building kits (SparkFun Arduino, minimal robot parts, blinkies (SimpleSimon, badge soldering event overflow etc), memorabilia, calendar, trinkets, etc. Membership(s) available.

Silver Hiker

This place is really cool. It's a small museum with tons of stuff. They even have a, watchman. Check it out. Definitely worth the price and the staff are more than happy to tell you about the exhibits. There are plenty of, hands on exhibits that you can mess with. Absolutely a fantastic place to bring kids!

Monica Brown

This museum is very interesting especially if you are into electronics. They had the first Sony walkman and I remembered that when it first came out; uh oh am I telling my age lol. My husband really enjoyed it. Overall it was a nice experience.

Always an interesting place to visit whether you are into electronics, histroy or the military. This time I was there for 6th annual RadioWinterFest sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Antique Radio club. Great conversations and some very interesting old radios and accessories. Ended up getting a Yagi antenna for the 70 cm band (420 - 450 MHz).

Fechin Driscoll

A small but interesting museum hiding nearby the airport. It has some good displays of basic electronics, vacuum tubes, radar, sonar, and IR. Good basic descriptions and interactive displays make it a good place to visit for students, and people who are interested in the subject.

Tatiana DP

Awesome place. Lots of history! Love it

The museum is not very large, but nowhere else have I seen such a collection of detailed and historic electronic exhibits. A great stop for the electronics or radio history buff.

Dave N

Was lucky enough to visit after hours during an amateur radio test session. I was floored... This place is a hidden gem right by the airport. Only been here once now but looking forward to future visits with the kids. Seems like new exhibits were being developed and that's a great sign. Highly recommended!

Maryeta Booker

This museum is such a hidden gem! We visited it after a birthday party at a local hotel surprisingly, the hotel staff did not know anything about it though it is in walking distance. There are hands-on science/electronics items that the kids can interact with and which provide an understanding of the history, progression, and application of 'knowledge' in electronics. My youngest gave it 'infinite thumbs up'!!

Baji Panchumarti

Very interesting history of electronics and our guide was awesome.

Candyse Crow

Great learning experience for every age.

Took my son to visit this museum, they had really cool features, inventions and history. However, I was extremely concerned, and disappointed that there wasn't any representation of inventions or at least contributions to society, made by people of color(Garrett Morgan, Lewis Latimer, Granville Woods, Elijah McCoy) to name a few. This museum needs to strongly consider adding a more diverse display of inventions... 8/6/2018-Thanks for your response. I believe that my review was from the overall exhibit, not just one African American inventor on display for one year. I was referencing that on a "continual basis" it would be empowering to see a nice variety and representation of POC...

I flew into Baltimore and couldn't meet my cousin actually my niece until after she got off work. so I looked around and found the National electronics museum. I don't know what I expected, but I just have to investigate these small museums. now this one from the outside definitely has a military look with all the big radars and antenna out front. As it was created by people who were military contractors I expected maybe I'll find all the junk that is no longer top secret. Well it seems that people who retire in this industry have devoted a huge amount of time to saving the history that they created in the electronics industry and the military industrial complex. So different types of radars are listed, displayed, explained, and done so in a very understandable way. It is quite enlightening. then they talk about types of radios and how they were used to solve various puzzles to defend England, America, our troops, and other bits of history. To examine the satellites used for communications and their history was likewise eye opening in that all of the explainations in this museum are definitely from a different a point of view and one might read in a sanitized history book. For instance when the Germans were bombing London they were using various frequency bands that used together gave them targeting system that they could use day or night. One ingenious fellow took to the problem. He investigated in the frequency bands that were not being used by our systems and found their targeting frequencies. Then created jamming to bring another signals to confuse their system. Oh yes, now that I bring it up there were displays about jamming, counterintelligence, and more things that protected our troops and equipment. Fascinating! This is a wonderful museum to investigate if you have some time it's less than a couple miles from BWI and 5 bucks what a deal I enjoyed it a lot and will add it to my list of man you want to check this place out places

chris Netzel

Way more than you would expect. Wish I had more time to spend exploring. You won't be disappointed.

Matt H.

While this is a rather small museum - it's nowhere near the scale of one of the DC Mall Smithsonian's or even the Maryland Science Center - it is still impressive the amount of electronics history that they have here. The exhibits cover the range of electronics history, from early vacuum tubes to modern, cutting edge defense electronics. Highly recommended for anyone in the area who's interested in electronics.

Justin Kidd

Impressive collection. From Maxwell and Oersted to Edison an Westinghouse. From Bohr to Kilby and then some. Displays for all age groups. Arrange for a group tour.

Pawel Januszewicz

Absolutely fabulous. First, the artifacts from 1900-1950 are unique and I haven't seen so many of them at one place and in such a great shape. Old radio receivers, I mean World War I era, entire collection of vacuum tubes, etc. Then, the modern radar, underwater, satellite, and air devices, both civilian as well as military. You can't touch but you can look really closely at torpedo guidance system, complex sonar network that resembles a drone swarm but underwater, and so on. I wish I had more time, next visit I book a full day.

Jennifer Haney

So many cool and educational displays.

Great museum they have many amazing displays particularly defense systems and radar. It's almost the Westinghouse radar systems company Museum. Great for anyone interested in electronics military history or science and Engineering in general. Compared to a lot of other museums and attractions in the area is very reasonably priced at $7.

Angela Albrecht

Fantastic.

I sit on the ergonomic toilet seat pondering. Why in a museum so rich and full of history about radar, missiles, and bombs is the bathroom sooooooo boring? There was even some vintage ads and information in the hallway to the toilet. Clean and quiet bathroom so I dropped a payload and tested out some of the theory from the museum. Definitely a worthwhile #2 spot. The TP is okay, a little rough and not very absorbent but well stocked.

Logan Petersen

Very informative and the volunteer was extremely informed! AWESOME MUSEUM

lots of interactive exhibits that can teach you about how things work.

Frank Ding

There are a number of interesting electronics on display, but if the lighting were brighter and less gloomy, it would be either a 4.5 or 5

Andy Flacks

Hidden gem. Go visit.

Brett G

Fascinating look at technology advancements. Much of the museum is military based technology advancements, which ultimately bleed over to civil applications. A fast pace through the musuem is about 1:15 hours. A comfortable place is about 1:45 hours. I would expect to enjoy all the exhibits would take 3 hours. Some neat exhibits and technology I have only come to see here at this musuem, not even the National Air Force Museum.

Man Chun Liu

Tim Porter

My wife and I really loved it. It's very interactive and self-guiding. Worth every penny.
